there's anybody in here right now that's in need of God to do anything in your life what I love about God is he's not selfish enough to bless you on his birthday I want you to touch somebody say God's the gift that keeps on giving you may be seated in the presence of the Lord hello pass away but there's something Oh the gift that keeps on giving Jesus [Music] Jesus [Music] there is something about [Music] my same she [Music] and [Music] first something about [Music] their name how many of y'all ever heard this song Jesus there's some time that name Jesus every knee must bow at that name gee there is something [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] but there's something [Music] there is something [Music] the gift that keeps on giving you know it's amazing that the word that I have for you today would come on a day such as today where one would walk into a grocery store you would not have to ask anybody to shop you would go into a clothing store you would have to accent no one to try on clothes you would go on vacation and you wouldn't have to ask anybody to have a good time interesting that you would come into church and ask people to praise the Lord it's not everybody but the problem is is that in any circle the ones who are not always getting more attention than those who do when the Lord comes into this place the Holy Spirit comes it's because we've invited him and we've said to him we have come into this place to worship your name together it's one Accord it's it's what happened on the day of Pentecost the Bible says that they came together on one Accord and when everybody did it at the same time miracles happened I'm recognizing that one of the enemy's tricks is to make sure that half feel like I didn't have don't because he knows that if we ever did it together all of our children would be healed if we did it together supernaturally all of our debts would be canceled if you don't believe me I've got scripture the Bible says in the year of Jubilee the fiftieth year the Bible says all of their debts were canceled at the same time but you don't recognize that when Paul and Silas praises the bars open if Paul is singing and solidus taping then the book the bars stay locked there is something about the unity that's why he says wherever there are two or three who were gathered together in my name I will be in the midst and so what the devil wants is to keep us fragmented and fractured he wants some worshipping and he wants some worrying he wants some praying but he also wants some pouting and so he can dilute us and keep us dysfunctional in our worship he can ensure that we don't get the miracle that we came from but I came to tell you I won't let anybody keep me from getting my stuff so do me a favor tell your neighbor say it ain't my fault you didn't get no sleep last night I didn't tell you to stay out all night and come to church in the morning I got my rest and I came for my reward hallelujah somebody so I want somebody in this place to make sure that by the next 15 20 minutes if I'm done I want you to tell your neighbor I come to get my stuff and you gonna help me get it amen imma take yours in the process do I have any witnesses in this place today one of the greatest appreciations of anybody who has done something great is that we erect statues in the world the Bible lets us know that there were great many of us statues that were even erected to Idol gods men who did not have any salvific anointing any power but yet they were still appreciated we do the same thing in humankind here in America if you go to to the mall in Washington in DC there is a statue that has been etched of our 16th president who was responsible some say for the abolition of slavery his name is Abraham Lincoln and because of his greatness because of his ability to take our country through the Civil War which was the bloodiest war that our country has ever seen and still improved the economy we erect the statue because statue because in in our culture we erect statues for people who have great things you can go into any city in America there is a street called Martin Luther King Boulevard it ain't always in the best neighborhood if ever but it's still there and and and and and and we do that because Martin Luther King had a dream and it was an American dream and it was where white men and black men and Jews and Gentiles Protestants and Catholics would come together and say as one people that we would rise and that we would do this thing together that there are statues there was the Statue of Liberty representing of the freedom and the safety of those who had passed into the American shores of the French there are all kinds of statues that are all over the world you've got Mount Rushmore with the four presidents with Edison and-and-and George Washington and Lincoln you've got that that erected as a a representation of the power of men that do great things that the power of men but the problem with the statues that have been dedicated to men is that all of those statues came postmortem that all of those inscriptions came after they died all of those inscriptions came after they had lived and and battled whatever disease they had and and and whether it was lupus or whether it was cancer or whether they just died of an early age all of those inscriptions and statues came after they had died but the book of Isaiah is a book of prophecy in other words when they say here in Isaiah chapter 9 verse 6 that he is the Prince of Peace that he is a wonderful counselor what you must understand is that Isaiah wrote this book 700 years before Jesus was ever born and so now all of these great men who have this statues erected postmortem here you have a God who has scriptures about him premortal in other words they called him wonderful before he was ever born he was the Prince of Peace before he had ever given peace he was a mighty father before he had children he was the father of 10,000 even before he was the seed of David what I'm trying to tell you is that we serve a God that never began slap your neighbors say he always was so the unique thing about our text today is that we're talking about a God although we're in the present what we're speaking about was written nearly 800 years before he was ever born now that that's that's good news for you because because he says to Jeremiah before you were formed in your mother's womb I already see some of y'all you think that God is gonna do the miracle because you've been praying you don't recognize he already did the miracle he just releases it when do you pray some of y'all came to church thinking you gonna convince God to do something God has already done it touch of them say God's already done it that's why some of y'all with the press today I wonder what the law are gonna do he's already done and now he's waiting on you to do your part the money is already there the miracles got your name on that the house is already there the loan has already approved everything you need God has already done it now God doesn't have to prove himself to you now you've got to prove yourself to God and what do I have to prove I have to prove that I can worship when it's raining outside I have to prove that I can worship even though I'm sitting next to somebody I don't like I have to prove that my husband got on my nerve but I'm not gonna let what my husband on my wife did to me to keep me from worshiping my god I don't have any witnesses in here today some of y'all mad at somebody in God like what I ain't did nothing so while you're not gonna work for me cuz your children didn't eat that breakfast I want you to forget about who made you mad and who's getting on your nerve and spent about 15 seconds thinking a wonderful counselor [Applause] you see the world is full of counselors yeah you go to schools and and they've got counselors and and and one of the one of the terms that we refer to a lawyer legal counsel if you go to the United Nations their counseling together to find out how do you handle the threat of nuclear war with a North Korea or what do you do with Isis in Iraq and Iran what do you do there that's what the United Nations is it is nothing more than then government sending counselors to a table to talk about the ills of our world to discuss actionable items that can help us go from where we are to where God wants us to be you've got financial counsellors but all of those they may be good they even may be great but none of them are wonderful are you with me today yeah the word wonderful is a Hebrew word pay light it means this watch this it means hard to understand in other words God is a hard to understand counselor you think of wonderful as excellent oh he's a wonderful counsel to know he's hard to understand because as a counselor at one moment he's judging and then the next he gives you Redemption and and he's a wonderful counselor because he's found some way to mix pain and pleasure he's a wonderful counsel because he's found a way to rebuke you and make you rich he's a wonderful counselor because he'll whoop you and make you like it anybody ever thank God for a whuppin and let me tell you something you don't really have a real relationship with God until you can start thanking him for a No [Applause] everybody in here is worship God for yes but anybody in here now you didn't think of what had happened but when you look back over your life and saw where God said no and where he blocked some stuff you were trying to make happen I need 100 people say he's a wonderful counselor if it wasn't for God I'd be married to somebody I shouldn't be married to if it weren't for God how to move in Lord y'all they're gonna be honest with me today some of y'all had already pushed the Lisa up you were getting ready to move you're getting ready to joy your Kelson God showed you he was a fool before you left somebody out a shot thank God for being a wonderful some of y'all broke the engagement off wonderful counselor Oh y'all in here with me today he's a wonderful counselor all of the other counselors are good but none of them are wonderful he's a hard to understand counselor I mean I just can't believe that those whom he loves he also Chasen's he is this confusing counselor that sometimes tells you to go somewhere and don't give you directions he's he's just confusion confusing counselor that that that that you're in the presence of people and and and you want to make a move or you want to do something in God God won't even release you to do something you already know that he wants you to do it now some of y'all are just waiting on the release like he God has already told you to do it but you're waiting on a release you're waiting on something to happen he's a wonderful counsel to somebody say he's a wonderful counselor and when I look at the text and I found out that he's a wonderful counselor it led me back to the context of the text because right now Israel is in trouble Israel his just finish dealing with the bondage of the Egyptian slavery system and and they are dealing with the warring with the Assyrians and and and now they've got four wars in the Valley of Elah with the Philistines and all of what is happening in their lives they've got two million people who are dying and then another two million who have to be born so that they can go into the Promised Land and and you've got everybody who's under the age of twenty one that has to die in the generation of Moses and a whole nother generation has to be born on the Joshua because the people from Moses generation did not have the faith nor the mentality to go into the Promised Land so God has to kill off a whole generation in order for the people of Israel to get what he had for them they've got so much on their mind because when you are a slave you raise your children to think slave link and that is what has happened especially with those of us who are african-american people some of the stupid ways that we have and some of the crazy mindsets that we have it is in eighth it has been passed down because your father was that segregated calendar Thompson his father was on the other end of a whip so he taught this one how not to do that and now here we are still slaves in 2017 because we've not had a liberation from a mentality to recognize that you can make it in this world if you stop crying about what happened in the world that you've never lived in that although the system is still prevalent you still got life and you can have it more abundantly and if you ever get out of your silos and your cyclical cycles of feeling sorry for yourself and talking about what ain't nobody gonna give you and what they won't let you do I'm gonna tell you they can't stop you from doing nothing you got an anointing all your life that every door that God has for you if you have the courage to show up gotta have the shrimp to show out except your neighbors say get out of the bed and go to your own party get out of your feelings and get to your own deliverance get out of your own psychosis and get to your own year of elevation Israel Israel is struggling psychologically because everybody they know has been a slave the mama was a slave grandfather was a slave and now everything that has happened to them would be erased by the birth of a baby Emmanuel God with us the birth of a baby liberates every baby that has been born then I recognize that most people think that deliverance comes out of the death of the enemy Pharaoh did not have to die for Israel to get free because you don't have to wait on your enemies to die to get free you have to wait on what's in you to be born your deliverance is not in the death of your enemies your delivers is in the birth of yourself your deliverance is not in the death of your enemy your deliverance is in the birth of the inner me god help me in this place I just came to talk to about a hundred a all today to let you know that what you need to get to the next level it's already inside of you you just gotta have the courage to push it out slap your neighbor say push it out there is a baby there is a business there is a book there was a mindset there was a thought process there is an idea there was an invention there is something that is already inside of you and if you ever have the courage to confront it and get it out of you you'll see that the deliverance you're waiting on is just one birth away somebody say one birth away say the hardest thing about birth is the pain so most people go through the pain they stop pushing the baby ain't gonna be poured out has got to be pushed out so wherever you are right now you got a you got a stay stay the course and you got a you got a you got a fight you got to work the works of the one who sent you Wow how many Bible readers in here today wow it is Dave the worst thing you could ever do is misuse the gift somebody's given you have you ever given somebody a gift and went over the house looking for it have you ever given somebody a gift they forgot who gave it to you so they gave it to somebody else but you know the person they gave it to here they come wearing the gift you gave them you like Jesus was the gift the Bible says he was everybody say a wonderful counselor my daughter graduated from college on Friday for those of y'all who do math well my wife and I been married eight years we've been together 10 years she's 21 do the math you know people like night is dead my wife had her first daughter at 15 and she graduated on the 15th of December and it was an emotional moment because when you are teen mother she had already been written off you know everybody the family says she wasn't by the time she was this aged she'd have this many kids and by the time she was this this ain't supposed to happen and now she taking care of the same family members y'all ain't here with me today now she paying the rent and taking care of the same family members who gave up on them and that's why you got it you got to have a heart to be blessed because some of y'all to be getting even at what all the folk has said to you when you was younger you got to tell him to be blessed but do you have the heart for it so now she's taking care of a whole family and and and and and her mom lived with us and and now my mom live with us so we got two of them in the house now I need a bigger house so if you get if you see me get a big house a ten because I'm trying to floss this come trying to get away from two of them instead what I'm saying you ain't got two mamas rolling in your house you don't know what's going on every time I come house my mama asked me what I'm doing I'm like woman I don't tell you what I'm doing you better stop asking me I didn't ask you while you was that a man Church I doesn't have a attitude but anyway she doesn't she graduated from college and so we drove down there to Texas State and they called her name and we was ghetto and we was hollering and all that kind of stuff how many y'all know at the graduation you just get ready for he black he should come he should come three more people and when she coming here by that's my son everybody's going crazy and all that kind of stuff and so we were shouting and Felicia was crying because she got that baby from when they were Felicia had her when she was in high school she was carrying her while she was in college you understand the dynamics of trying to raise a child when you're doing that and and Felicia was a good counselor she was a good counselor but she wasn't a wonderful counselor she she had to make sure that tynesha knew the Lord for herself and so we drove down there and and and and we got down there and I had the GPS coming back and the GPS thank God that they got it now is like when they see traffic how many y'all got waves and all that kind okay so when they when they see traffic so it says all right to say 13 minutes I said absolutely I'll save 13 minutes so I hit go and it led me around the traffic and I'm looking at the traffic and we up there bragging like oh man they then got the ways that Manning they ain't damn what's they don't what's up they ain't got it so we we going and we go around and then we turn the corner into traffic I mean worst traffic it was a small town and it was a parade going on and I was behind the firetruck I thought it was an emergency I'm trying to figure out how to go around a fire truck the fire truck is leading the parade going negative three miles per hour he would have been going faster backwards it was so slow it took us two hours to go three miles let patience have it's perfect work that you might be entire wanting nothing I was getting break I was gonna break all the laws I was getting ready to drive in people's yards I was upset my trusted 2g GPS and it got me around the traffic because that traffic jam had been reported but the parade was impromptu that it was a small town it went even big enough to be reported so then I surmise that the GPS GPS is a good counselor because they can respond to things that are reported but the GPS is not a wonderful counselor because it doesn't know the things that have not been reported what I'm trying to tell you is is that the people in your life who have been giving you counsel they may be good counselors your mama might be a good counselor but I came to tell you in 2018 if you're gonna make it you need a wonderful counselor you need somebody who not only sees the dangers that are seen but you need somebody who can see the dangers that are unseen do I have anybody who will thank God that he has led you around stuff [Applause] that life didn't report that your mama didn't know that some of y'all you're gonna graduate from college and you're the first person to do it and I prophesied and I say in this room that the reason why your life is gonna be hard in 2018 is because you're gonna do something that nobody in your family has ever done and how do you safely navigate to a place where you know nobody who has directions what are you gonna do if God gives you a job where you make six figures and you never grew up around somebody who made six figures and you'll think oh if I make six figures then it means I buy a bigger house get a better car and put some money in a savings account and let them give you 13 cents for your money every month instead of getting around somebody else who will tell you no find you a mutual fund and find your CD get you a IRA do you there's some other things that you can do and you've been raised to only be comfortable when you can see your money oh I'm about to break that stronghold right now see that's why listen to me don't don't y'all get crowded on me right now let me just take this little turn right here see see African Americans you are so into savings accounts that's all you've ever been told a savings account do you know that the best way to stay poorer is to have a savings account because the money will not grow and you will never save your way into multimillionaire wealth y'all not here with me today you will never make enough money to save yourself to be rich the only way you're gonna do is you have to have what's called passive income that means that you got to take the money you saved put it in another vehicle so that way it can make money for you and then the money you spend is the money that the passive income made y'all not here with me today see most of us are we know how to pay interest but we don't know how to make it [Applause] that's cuz you had good counselors maybe some of them are even great counselors but what you've been missing is a wonderful counselor it's a wonderful counselor so let me give you three things that he is and then I'm gonna let you go the first thing is Christ is a competent counselor say he's a competent counselor number one he's a compassionate counselor because let me tell you that the Bible lessons know that the children of Israel was suffering and he had compassion on them suffering and hardhead at the same time now let me tell you something I know most of y'all and I know me when people are hardhead you kind of let him suffer a little bit anybody know what I'm talking about or don't act like you didn't never use that Scripture God's saying well you don't listen I turn you over to a reprobate mind you ain't never said that have your mama ever said that to y'all raise your hand if your mama said that Oh your mama didn't go to church anyway I know I know that when we were raised we were told by the preacher that the Lord had turned you over to a reprobate mind and we didn't know what that meant and we studied it and and they thought it meant something else but what it actually means when you see the word reprobate mind in the scripture it actually means that God will let you handle your own business in other words God turns you over to yourself god help me in this place and then he lets you be responsible for your choices and your action is there anybody in here that knows that if you got yourself for a counselor you got a fool for a counselor he's a compassionate counselor he's a compassionate counselor with all of the stuff that you and I have done he ought to be grateful that the Lord woke you up this morning that's why I don't understand when people come to church and they don't worship you you ain't thinking about what you you you can't be thinking about who you are if you think about who you are and what God does for you and what he has brought you out of and what he let other people not see and what he what secrets he lets you keep [Applause] that nickname that did he follow you from college back home somebody said he's a wonderful counselor he's a consistent counselor too because he says in the text he says I am the Lord and I changed not that's the greatest thing about God is that people change God doesn't change he's the same yesterday today and forever more you ought to be grateful that he doesn't change because every morning he gives new mercies every morning God is gracious every morning he looks beyond our faults and he sees our knees somebody say he's a wonderful counselor but here is the other thing I want you to know that he is a confidential counselor he's a confidential counselor the Bible says that he says you can confess your sins to him what what a counselor that knows everything about you and ain't told nobody I just need to let that point breathe a little bit I just want you to think about all the stuff guys saw you do you came to think about it I want you to think about everything God witnessed which is everything good and bad he knows all the addresses all the directions so all the thoughts some of y'all's stuff right now like he do if you knew what you knew about somebody else that you know about you said you wouldn't wake him up in the morning if people did you the way you do God you wouldn't wake him up at least three days a week they have a three funerals every week but God knowing all he knows that's why I want to preach the sermon instead of going on and letting y'all work from getting out of here because I wanted you to see what you what opportunity you were passing up that what you were missing worshiping a wonderful counselor somebody who knows your thoughts afar off somebody who knows your iniquity and saved you before you did it [Music] God didn't forgive you last month for what you did last year God forgave you in eternity past for what you did last year that God is not like us like if somebody does something to us today we have to make a decision whether or not we're gonna forgive him and then we do it tomorrow know it everything you've ever done is already it's already covered when he died on the cross he covered all all of it all look around look at all of the cns in his room what no look at all the sinners in your seat you know what I get tired of people always looking around trying to find what somebody else did I just want you to look at all the sin that's in y'all see anybody glad that Gaza confidential counselor anybody glad that God won't get amnesia and start telling everybody what you did anybody glad that he's to come I want you to give a confidential counsel about five seconds of praise thanking God that he's a confidential God he's a confidential God not only is he accompanying counsel that he's a current counselor the Bible says lo I am with you always even unto the end other word how many even know he's with you how do you know he's with you yeah that's a good news then everywhere you go he's there that there is no place in the world you can go if you found a way to get to space he's there if you found a way to get the yonder's moon he's there one old preacher said God is so big that if he turned around he bump into himself because he's everywhere at the same time God is omniscient he's omnipresent he's omnipotent he knows everything he sees everything and he is everywhere when the Bible says he's yesterday today and forever more it does not mean that God is just in 1937 and 2017 at the same time it means that he's in the past the present and the future all at the same time which means that there will never be a place where you are uncovered by the blood of the Lamb that means that you would never be in a season where you're not covered by the wonderful counsel that means that you will never be hoodwinked by the devil a tricked by the wiles of the enemy because God has sleep on the job he never sleeps nor does he ever slumbers and that's why I didn't understand why we were sleeping and slumbering this morning that the push that I gave you this morning that the sermon that I was going to preach has been drastically altered because how we entered into the tabernacle that I had a sermon and I had a word that I want to come in but let me tell you I won't throw those pearls to swine that the word that I had ready for you you wasn't ready for it so God has given me this word to let you know he's a wonderful counselor I'm just trying to spend the next five minutes reminding you of who he is so the next time you come in here you'll know whose presence you're in you should never be in a place where anybody else is saying come on somebody worship God are you serious nobody should have to ask ask you to worship a current counselor nobody should have to ask you to worship somebody who allows you to pay bills with a little bit of income nobody should have to ask you to worship a God who got you out of a car accident in and who sends your child to school and allows them to get home safely every day and while other people's children have died in car accidents yours are still alive and while other children are in a chosen house battling leukemia and some form of childhood cancer and some some children are incoherent and being fed through a feeding tube and and somebody in here is you know somebody like that but the truth is you are way too bad not to write praise the God who's been that good that no matter what you have done and no matter where you have been that God is still a good counsel he's still a good father he's still the Prince of Peace he's still the roles of Sharon he's still the great I am he's still the lily of the valley he's still the bright and Morning Star he stills job warhorse pawn in the valley he's still the will in the middle of the wheel he's still the fairest of ten thousand and something else still looking at me and so what ends up happening is God often has to cause a crisis for you to know he's Christ that he would much rather you know who he is because of his resume and the truth is that some of us are so convinced of our outlook that we cannot look out I want you to look outside of yourself today and all of the pain that you are currently experiencing and prove to me that he ain't still good he's a current counselor somebody said he's current how do we keep God current in our lives let me give you some ways to keep him occurring counseling your life number one how does he stay current he stays current in your life through the scriptures if you're not reading the Bible he's not current in your life are you with me every day you have to study the show who second thing you got to memorize scripture what does the Bible say is that word have I hidden in my heart that when they make me mad I don't go crazy it say something like that but what he says is that word have I hid in my heart so that that I might not sin against thee in other words you've got to memorize the scripture so that you have something to say to the devil when he has something to say to you and you need more than Romans 8:28 in Romans 3 and 23 you need more than Philippians 3 and 14 you need to get in there and find you some scriptures that you can hold on to that speak to your spirit the third way that God stays current in your life is that you have to worship Him and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth are you at me that means that you gotta worship Him even when your life is lying to you that you've got to still worship Him the other way that we stay current with him is that we stay current with him in our prayers you got to have a prayer life are y'all with me so far you got to have a relationship with him and how does he stay current in our life he stays current in our life through doors of opportunity sometimes God says no so that you ask him for a yes if everything was yes then you stop asking so sometimes got a block away just so you can come and ask him to open it this is this is the counselor that I want you to meet today and I'm not I am NOT here to impress you this morning y'all lost that privilege I will go I was really I had a sermon I wanted to give you old Lord I had it they tell you right now they can't even bring up all the points that I have for you but when I came in this room I saw defeat when I came in this room I saw the spirit of heaviness and normally what I would do as an invite preacher without experience as I would just keep driving and driving and driving and driving and driving until you shouted but then I realized that if I get you to shout and nothing happens then you'll blame God you'll say I gave you worship and nothing happened and gotta say yeah but look at what I had to do to get it from you God loves a cheerful not just in the offering come on guys not just an offer God loves a cheerful Giver he wants you to love to worship Him he wants you to love to praise him and I don't want to be your cheerleader today I didn't bring my pom-poms I didn't bring you know I didn't bring my team I just wanted to see if you would do it on your own in the season of his birth we shot at Easter but what if he was never born he put in a diet if he wasn't born somebody say he's a wonderful counselor I want you to I don't want you to I don't want you to give your favorite music artists more worship than you give God when that tax return check come in you gonna worship that day a man church if somebody comes and gives you a birthday present right now you worship God in spirit and in truth what reason do you need to worship God because he's got are you with me look I wish I could see yourself I wish you could see yourself now you like come on rabbit no I was like come on earlier what was you with earlier we was up here pulling and pushing the saying come on Church come on now y'all looking like come on rap shot me nope I'm not gonna do a touch of things that he's not gonna do it number three he's a covering counselor he's a covering counselor do you know as bad as you are the people who sitting next to you don't know it they got an idea but they don't know the truth he's a covering counselor watch this David said in Psalms 20 75 for in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion in the secret of his Tabernacle shall he hide me he shall set me up on a rock and now my head shall be lifted above my enemies round about me and he will discover and destroy that which is destructive in your life in other words God is destroying currently actively destroying the things that are trying to destroy you right now while you're sitting in this sanctuary the devil is somewhere applauding for you to fall for you to for you to be exposed for you to be injured for you to be hurt and that's why worship is so important because while you're in here thanking God he's out there filling in the holes that the devil has trapped he's over there making sure that there's a ram in the bush god help me he's making sure that he's turning down the heat on the fire and he's in there having a conversation with the Lions saying I'm getting ready to have an occupation to come through but you're gonna get lockjaw the day that my child comes through now you can bite the next person that comes in but you came back the person that's about to come in he's talking to the pit saying pit you gonna have to spit him out because I got a palace waiting on him is currently destroying the things that the devil has set up to destroy you and you got the nerve to sit down and not worship a wonderful counselor who is a very present help in the time of trouble and that is currently hiding you in his secret place if nothing else 500 all on a shelf then he's got you covered [Applause] [Music] if he uncovered you your job would fire you if he uncovered you your wife will leave you if he uncovered you your husband the divorce and if he uncovered you your children would respect you somebody ought to thank God that he's a covering God if nothing else when you come to
