style of comedy is kind of unique in his look this unique his presentation is unique his timing is unique it's a star on the rise especially on the comedy circuit you can find him on a daily show which is on a comedy channel weeknights at 11 p.m. he's actually performing tonight at 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. at Caroline's please welcome Chicago's own Cebu ki young I watch you man the way your comedy you do comedy when I watched your stand-up and even watch you on a daily show it's almost like it's not even written you know you know so that's what I aim for that today written it's definitely you also write for The Daily Show as well yeah well I sort of when you're on The Daily Show in your correspondent you sort of write your own bits okay and like infuse sort of your own voice in it so yeah yeah yeah has like just for example that interaction about the Millennials with what Trevor was that was his part was that all improv you just called him the direction or how does it work well it'll be improved in the moment and I would like write that down write that down write it down and then we'll say it on air so like in them it was improv at a time but usually by the time we're on air most of the stuff has been rehearse and like gone through a little bit but there's some moments that like you have a little banter like back and forth that are natural like in the moment and sort of spur the moment type things how nervous are you like cuz I can imagine artists rappers who step into the studio and you know like it do these companies you know crew Posse songs and then everybody kick a verse and you got your verse and you worried if your verses up to par and if somebody gonna say man that's just stinks bro you got to rewrite it does that happen like when you're writing the second you can you know like you'll pitch a joke and it's just like quiet for a little bit yeah but yeah but people are always supportive and like everybody has jokes that don't land so like people understand you know as long as you get more jokes that dual and then don't then you're alright you know stay above the water give me example of a joke you said that didn't land that didn't land oh my god there was this one joke that I had about uh my uncle like burying his cash at a chick-fil-a or something like that which isn't true but it just like you for like what are you talking about yeah it just didn't work I was like okay okay we could scratch that Buchan everybody eats it did you have to learn to like just get over that really quickly and keep it moving like at first when you didn't hear a response and you're you know expecting immediate laughter right because I'm used to stand up in legs okay I'm used to getting that laugh right away right away right away but with the Daily Show it's literally a daily show so if you don't have a good show one day there's another one the next there's another one after that so you just sort of like the losses fall off your back you don't really yeah I want to talk to you about stand-up we've been in conversation about it for so long because we've watched the whole evolution of people coming in people having a good time people recording too now no phones in a lot of these shows yeah um do you feel like everybody is just way too sensitive way too sensitive I feel like people have the right to think whatever they want as much as people have the right to say whatever you want but in that you don't get to get off scot-free by saying whatever you want you know if you say something you should be able to own up to it and take the feedback from what you have said even as a comedian even if you find some kind of humor to it because you hear a lot of comedians argue we're just here to kind of bring laughter to a sad situation so and a lot of time we are yeah but then there's also like you have to take into consideration that you're not just saying things in a vacuum and like your words are influencing people and do have meaning you know it's not like we're sitting here I'm just going blah blah blah blah and nothing has any impact on people you know what I mean so I think that you have to take that into consideration but then also sometimes like I'll hear a joke and it might be offense but I'm like he's not talking to me like this is just not for me like I'm not bothered by it like by me giving voice to it and being like hey this is [ __ ] up they shouldn't be able to say that I'm giving them more of a platform yeah so I like a lot of things I'm just like whatever yeah yeah is that your go-to character voice right there that you just did boo-ki young white is it rolling off with the stand up question cuz you're doing Caroline's this weekend and so when you're when you land a gig like The Daily Show and even though it's not your show you're a part of it and so when you're doing stand-up where it's your own world you can joke about whatever you can cover any discussion but are you still mindful of like if I say something really extreme that somebody wants to make a big deal out of and and I don't want to [ __ ] up what trevor's doing or [ __ ] up my chances of being on the show are you more mindful of that of course yeah I mean like I got a job though you're talking about this you know like I do i do factor that in but I also think that if you're a good stand-up you're just aware of what people are thinking and you're not just going to like trample over some societal mores or standards you'll be able to like dance around it and use it in your act but like to just be mad like oh wow so mad about like no you know like you've been you read the news like you know what you're doing I feel like that is just dishonest and I feel like dishonesty is never good onstage did you have to like tailor your material now to kind of just like I mean I don't know what it was before it was it that that much different um no I mean I've always the thing that I feel like I'm sort of privileged about is a lot of what these stand-ups are mad about they're mad at people like my age they're mad at me they're like they're mad at people like me and I was like in college and all these like PC groups and like PC spaces so like I understand the language and I understand like that world that's sort of where I started doing stand-up in so it's so much easier for me to be like what just don't say anything offensive but for people who have been doing stand-up since like the 80s 90s we're like it was truly anything goes yeah of course like I could see why you would why you would have a hard time of just saying you you mentioned college but you you dropped out your senior year yeah yeah DePaul University yeah yeah yes you feel a lot of pressure to succeed five jobs but now you're not a doctor a lawyer and an engineer what are you talking about I am I didn't tell them that I had dropped out until I had gotten my first comedy job and I was like okay now I can let everybody know by the way I dropped out of school but I had to make sure that like I had everything set up so by the time I was like by the way I didn't do what you wanted me to do they weren't gonna be mad you waited to tell your parents yeah kids are the sneakiest people like yeah because I was well well like my so my parents were working but it wasn't like they were giving me money it's just like if this goes to [ __ ] I need to have a couch to sleep on okay I know what I mean uh-huh so it was like I didn't want to lose that safety net but now it's like the reverse I'm giving them money so what is your shirt say it says Chicago girls do it better okay you know everything I don't know is this one brand Fat Tire that's like the Chicago Chicago brand making so when you when you came when you came out yeah how did they respond to that being from Jamaica Jamaica I mean it took it took them a minute like Jamaican culture is like no Brenda Betty boy so my mom I feel like my mom probably took it easier oh come just because she had she was just more intuitive and like she kind of had the vibe I feel and she knew my dad probably had a harder time with it just because he's like traditional like Jamaican like just from the country like yeah like so I feel like what ultimately helped it though is that I was like on TV so y'all gonna be mad like y'all got homophobic money I don't think so they okay now yeah yeah yeah he got a rainbow BuChE young white is here you can find him on a daily so he's hanging out with us all so he's at Caroline's tonight in tomorrow Cemetery in 10 p.m. it may join us for that celebrity wire we got that right now with Tracy Jie it's time for celebrity wire on sway in the morning on shade 45 thanks Ibuki what's your social media people want to reach him at Tabuk EJ a bo u kie guys follow this young man to boo ki J a bo you kie man you want to get your take on some of these stories about to tell okay all right this is like we're in the brainstorming room and topics we get hit on a day okay man tour a friend of the show very revered music journalist uh-huh and we all recently saw him on the small screen for lifetime surviving are Kelly and he was discussing you know the long history of abuse allegations coming from Arkell against our Kelly I should say however the irony is now he is embroiled in his own sexual harassment so mad publicity obviously it was swirling around the docu-series and I feel like any man involved be careful because folks are gonna look to see what's behind your closet so Toure a woman came out he had did a podcast and when that podcast was promoted on Instagram a woman left a comments and she was accusing Torreya sexually harassing her when she worked with him on a Time Inc show and this is about two years ago she said he couldn't stop asking me to do anal these are her words he couldn't stop asking me to do anal how I look naked if I had sex over the weekend what it would be like to [ __ ] me I had to give the crew state I had to have the crew stay in the room with me while I got him ready her name is Danny and she says she notified human resources ASAP they got him fired instantly her words he did put out a statement to essence yeah through a rep he said on the show our team including myself engaged in edgy crass banter that at the time I did not think was offensive for our tight-knit group I am sorry for my language and for making her feel uncomfortable in any way as a lead on the show I should have refrained from this behavior I have learned and grown from this experience okay so Djibouti do what you do now he apologized directly to Dani on Instagram and he said the way I teased you is no longer funny to me however Terry Crews he's one of the few men to say that he is a victim of sexual harassment and assaults they were gonna be on a show together and Terry Crews said that's canceled on Terry Crews pocket oh come for him yeah so go for Terry I don't understand that's just like casual banter like hey what's up I'm tall right do you like ain't no what do you do like that's bold to say and the thing too is that that's never banter because it's like do you like and I'll get it unless you're serious you're serious about right exactly so no no I don't buy that let's do this good man he was a comedian then could he get away with saying that was crass type of banter I still do comedians are horny if anything has been proven I feel like he it still would have been the same it would have been the same thing yeah and also other people in that documentary who were around art caliber weren't saying anything and like oh man he was [ __ ] up I saw everything and you didn't say anything until right now like I don't know oh you're from Chicago and I know he had a party laughs a party and a lot of Chicagoans came and supported and acts to be taken hostage Jeff besos big head honcho over at Amazon we spoke about after 25 years of marriage his wife filed for divorce and there's like hundreds of billions of dollars on the line because she was with him before he ever made it to millionaire status and there were rumors that um what sparked this divorce is he had an affair with Lauren Sanchez who was a former host of So You Think You Can Dance and now it's being presented that some nude photos were exchanged amongst the two so I think that's going to help with his wife soon to be officially ex-wife [Music] Amazon Prime video his new-age Ibuki [Laughter] boat will swap of course you have 24 only Instagram or snapchat because I need to know if you screenshot I just have to know from my own and no no full body right you choose you got a Frankenstein together those parts that land at home you want your dad to see no I got it man unfortunately Aretha Franklin who passed away somebody was stealing her money from Matt long before she died she tell the authorities they really wasn't following up but then now the investigation is well under way somehow I feel like that's a silver lining at least they're investigating it justice will be served that's probably why she didn't leave a will either you know she didn't leave a will and she left it was allegedly she's worth 80 million dollars her home was recently sold for three hundred thousand so and there was the kids fighting over her money so maybe she knew something I love Divac even in death rest at peace reach Tracy thank you for that celebrity wire yeah one more of that you hid her directly bookie young white I want the citizens to really know this young man I love
