- We are confirmed. Volkswagen Jetta, four-door gray in color, AUZ 387, license plate number. - Unfortunately, as the
search effort grows larger, the progress has remained the same. There have been no leads. So police hope you'll take
a good look at his pictures. Could make the difference in finding him. - [Reporter] He was last
seen here at a party in rural Hampton on September 15th. Police have found no evidence suggesting what happened after that. - We were here last
month looking for Ethan and his Volkswagen Jetta. This time, one of our
viewers reached out to us after seeing that video on October 2nd and said, "Jared, Sam, we think
that you missed something." And on that tip, we
came back a month later and yesterday we found Ethan. Today they pulled him out of the water. This is one episode you're
not gonna wanna miss. (gentle upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - On episode number one, we
checked out a bunch of ponds and we checked out where we thought the party was actually at the
night that Ethan went missing. I've received some new information, that the party was not at the
quary one with the gravel pit, that the party was actually
at this one next to Joe's. Come to find out Joe does
not own this property. So we need to track Joe then. So Joe is always at Hardee's at 10:30. Oh, it's locked. So I don't think that Joe
is coming to a Hardee's. - [Sam] Joe, Joe. - So let's go find Bob. - [Sam] It's Joe not Bob. - Oh yeah, we are looking for Joe. We're looking for Joe Pitzer, who owns the ponds. Now we're going to go look for Bob, the Police Chief and get
information from him as to access to that property by chance. All right, so hey--
- [Sam] (Mumbles) - They are looking for Ethan. Hi, how are you? - Good. How can I help you? - Is Bob available?
- Yeah. - Hey Bob, how are you? - Good what's going on? - Good, hey we're back in town to... We received some new tips and information. We received information that
the party was not at the gravel pit we're on 190th Olive. - Right. - That's actually backed
behind the rural tracks. What we see. - Yep, that is correct.
- Okay, so we didn't-- - Yeah, that one has been sonared twice. - Okay. - And also dived by the
team from the story city. - Okay. - I know there was a
farmer, that used that gate in order to get stuff back
there that he wanted... Shortly around it or whatever. - Okay, all right we'll
continue to check down that access into there. - Yeah. - Sir, thank you for your time. - Yeah.
- And wish us luck. - No problem. - Start knocking on doors. Somebody knows something about somebody, who's leasing that land. We're a small community,
somebody's gonna know. (engine running) (knocking at door) See, even when your
neighbor is 150 acres away, you still know who your neighbors are. - [Man Over Phone] Hello it's (beep) - Hey (beep) it's Jared Leisek. I'm out of Oregon and we're
a specialty dive and recovery team in town working in the case of Ethan. And it's just that... I understand that you're
the owner of the property, where the pond is out back. We've already searched Joe's
property and cabins in the rock quarry. See if we can gain access
onto your property today, by chance. - [Man Over Phone] Yeah,
as far as access goes, we weren't aware of anything
was going on, so (laughs) - Yeah, no worries. - [Man Over Phone] This
is kind of a surprise. - Yeah, I mean, we can
get around the gate. I just didn't want to
go around your gate-- - [Man Over Phone] Oh okay.
Yeah yeah, that's fine. - So if you're okay with me
accessing the property--. - [Man Over Phone] We've
given the Sheriff's department all that, the gate there's
just a chain on the gate. - Yes.
- [Man Over Phone] Yeah. - Okay, perfect (beep) I
appreciate your time today. - [Man Over Phone] All right. - All right, thank you. (upbeat music) I'm not gonna lie, I mean
like I can get us down there, right here. Maybe like we can get out.
We can get into there. I don't know if we're
ever getting out of there. - [Sam] In yes, out
mmh yeah, I don't know. - Hang on, we're going
quick, don't tip over. Don't tip over, don't tip over, we're in. (upbeat music) - [Sam] Now, I believe in you. (upbeat music) I see the pond. - There's two ponds here. There's the one on the other
side of Joe's property. And then this pond here, which is where the party was actually at. A property owner said head
on down to the South side. And you said there's a
good place to turn around, down by the gravel pit and put in. (footsteps approaching)
(upbeat music) (upbeat music) You see where shooting
34 feet to the left, 34 feet to the right. And the water column is
the depth that we're at. So if you see like eight and
a half feet and that's eight and a half feet, seven feet, see how that goes up and
down, so the bottom works. Just now going off screen,
that was about 12 feet there. So that's how you'd read it. And then on the bottom, see
how it goes, eight, 16, 24, 34. Those are kind of our range skills. So a car is going to be, you
know, 12 to 14 feet or so. And so it's going to be very well, It's going to be very noticeable. If there is a car down here, you'll be able to see it
pop up on the down imaging. And you'll see it on the side imaging. (upbeat music) So we are currently on the spot, where one of our viewers said, "Focus on this spot right here." 'Cause they saw something
that wasn't that far out, loaded that up 30 to 40 feet out. I'll show you as we come across. There's nothing over there. And I can kind of agree with
him when he showed me the google image, but could
have just been like the way a shadow was in here or something. - [Sam] Whoa, Whoa, Whoa,
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. What's that? - [Jared] Oh man. Holy smokes. - [Sam] Look to my left, so
you can go back over this way and we want a good damn
image over the top of it. - [Jared] Okay, Sam? - [Sam] Yeah.
- [Jared] That's a car. - [Jared] (Sam laughs) Oh crap. Hold that. My heart right now. Is your heart racing? (wind gushes) - [Sam] Wow, that's a car. - You're choking up, I'm choking up. - [Sam] Yeah, that's a car. All right, let's drop the magnet now. - Yeah. (wind whooshes) That's a car.
- [Sam] Yes. - Right off, right there. If I can throw it fast
'cause you were drifting, so go right, right in
front of you right now. The car, its 100% a car. - [Sam] Where?
- [Jared] You're right there. Yep. Right there, yep. Get a lock, are you on it? - Feels like it. - Okay, this right here is real right now, that right there on the screen, that it (voice shaking) 100% real. If you wouldn't know why
we do this (sniffles) is because today, the
family's gonna have answers. - Yep. - Love you bro.
- [Jared] (sniffles) Thanks. - As clear as this water is, I think we'll be able
to look in the windows and just see right in. - [Jared] Yeah. (wind gushing) - Oh, there is? - We're going down right now,
- Okay. - To put the eyes on it. I'll go now. - Yes, I talked to sheriff
Dodd a little bit ago about some guys diving
on the sand pit and-- - So that's the landowner and he is... spoke with the sheriff this morning. And so he's calling to let
the sheriff know that we have located a vehicle under water. And so we're going to go put
eyes on it and go from there. All right, brother. So Sam, you're not joining me because your hose ended up busting so-- - [Sam] Can you remember what
type of vehicle he was in? - Jetta.
- [Sam] Jetta. - Volkswagen Jetta. (tense music)
(Jared breathing) (tense music) (Jared breathing) (tense music) (tense music) (Jared breathing) (tense music) (tense music)
(Jared breathing) (tense music) (Jared breathing) (tense music) (tense music) (Jared breathing) (Jared breathing) (tense music) (Jared breathing) We are confirmed Volkswagen Jetta. Four-door, gray in color, AUZ 387 License plate number. All the windows are up. I'm not opening doors,
I'm not popping windows. Be pulled as it is, sitting upright. - Yeah, Just like we saw on sonar. - Yeah, work with the
sheriff when they get here , and see what they need. - Oh my gosh. (sighs) (phone ringing) - Hey, it's Jared Leisek, how are you? - [Sheriff Over phone] Good, how are you? - Hey good. I've got Ethan's car. - [Sheriff Over phone] Okay. Can you, you're able to dive in and identify it, and see that it is the
right make and everything? - That's correct. I have
a license plate match for you as well. - [Sheriff Over phone] Perfect. Okay. And then you guys are on the property now. It's still at the bottom
of the pond, correct? - That is correct. This is now a crime scene
we're tendering over to you and we'll offer up whatever
services you need from us. - [Sheriff Over phone] Okay. Yeah. If you could stand by there
and then I'll need some details and stuff, so-- - (sniffles) Okay. - [Sheriff Over phone]
Appreciate. We'll be out there in a minute. - All right, sounds good. Thanks, bye. I don't know how long ago
they were out here diving and the technology they
were using, you know, we just happened to hit
it at the right, you know, at the right angle, so
you know, at no point please don't bash whatever
dive team was here before, whatever sonar team was here before, this sonar is a very tricky, tricky thing. And you could be over a spot,
you know, three, four, five times and not pick up on it just right. So today we just happened
to be hitting it just right, this time around. I feel like for where it was, we may have, could've seen it the first time around. - Mmh mmh. - If we were at the right angle, but because of that second pass
and then 360 (Sam sniffles) that we put on there, we were able to get a solid lock on it. - Yep. - So anyway, let's say, you know, whatever support we can give
to, you know, the sheriff, we're here to do that. (upbeat music) - Sheriff how are you?
- Very proud of you. - Well appreciate it. - Thank you for the due diligence. - It's all our viewers, we
have to thank, you know, they told us we were
on the wrong property, in the wrong pond the first time we came. So that's what brought us back. - That's good. And do you guys have your
recovery bags and stuff as well? - We will, we haven't
actually brought them, so I would prefer to drag it out of here. - Perfect. - It's sitting real nice, just
two J hooks comes right up. - Okay. You guys wanna show me
the area real quick? - Yeah, so we're out about
100, or 80 to 100 feet. If we're out right now,
the vehicle is sitting. So the magnet and everything
is, is on this side of it. - Okay. - And so when I, when
I got into the vehicle, I came up on this side,
identified front wheel, that is a Volkswagen.
- [Sheriff] Mmh mmh. - Came around identified
both the windows are up, came around the back,
identified the plate. Of which it was AUZ 357.
- [Sheriff] That's correct. - So I brushed that off, came
around the driver's side, identified both of those
windows are also up, did not try the doors,
did not pop anything. So we're leaving it as is. And so we have a lot... So we have all the rigging stuff. So we just need your tow truck down here. We'll do everything that he
needs rigged, pre rigged, and ready for him. It's a fairly flat Sandy bottom. If you're fine with it,
we'll go ahead and suit up. And pre-reg it for you right now? - Yup, absolutely. But then you can, like
I said, with your wire, you can have cables and stuff ready to go. - Yeah. Yeah. We have
a big recovery cable. So we'll get all this
set up right now for you. - All right, very good. All right. - That should take us about 30 minutes, We'll have everything recorded. We just had a nice big conversation
with the sheriff as well as the Chief. Where we're at right now is, because it's not been ruled
an accident or (whistles) or a foul play for that reason. They want to make sure that
they do everything by the book. They need to bring in their
own team to document it, 'cause that way, if there's
any subpoenas, you know, this is a bigger than just an
accident that they don't want to have to bring us back in
from Oregon to Washington and have to be under subpoena. So completely understandable. Sometimes things are not always as simple as just a hook and book
as we like to call it. - Mmh mmh. - You know, we can already
have this out as you guys know, however, you know, there
are certain protocols that take place. - Yep. - Sheriff and Chief have been
really amazing on this one. - Two great guys. - They do want to involve
us as much as possible, but they do have to answer
the attorney general and other people so they are
going to their superiors. And that's where we're at
right now on this process. - So we'll leave the guy here, we're gonna go speak to
his family real quick and just kinda give 'em a, just
update that the car is here. - (Sam and Jared) Okay. - Then we'll be right back. - [Jared] Yeah. - So we'll be right. - [Sam] All right. - So that way she doesn't
hear it from other sources. - [Jared] Absolutely. - That are not us. - [Sam] Absolutely. - [Jared] We're not diving yet? - Not yet. - Thank you. - [Sam] Yes, sir. (door slams shut) - (Door opens) All right. Sounds like nine o'clock tomorrow morning. - [Sam] Okay. - What are you guys planning on staying? - [Jared] If you're fine with that, we're just going to camp
out here and not even move. - That wouldn't be my choice
'cause I'm gonna have to have somebody kind of standby all night. - [Jared] Right. - It wouldn't be, it's
certainly, I mean, I'd like it, if you could go somewhere else (chuckles) you know, but that's okay. - [Jared] If you need us to
pull off here we'll just ask to be allowed back in tomorrow. - Yep, we'll figure that out. - [Jared] We come back in around eight. You're fine with that? - Yeah. Well, like I said,
it won't be till nine. - [Jared] Nine will do. - Yeah and so if you want to, all right. - Yeah, we'll clean up our gear then, and we'll move down there a little bit or even just up on the hill or something. (door slams shut) - [Sam] I don't think
we're going to get back. - [Tyler] I don't think
we're getting back on either. - No, I think, I mean, he's a good dude, but he has bosses and I think
they're gonna secure the perimeter they're not gonna let us back. Just, just, just talking straight. I mean, it is what it is. - As you guys heard and as has
been requested by the local sheriff, we are going to clear
all of our gear out of here. We're gonna clear out for the evening. And you know, Sam has some hesitation, whether we're gonna actually
make our way back on. So we'll do everything we
can to keep you as involved in the story as we can. So whether we show, you know,
tomorrow out at the edge of the road or we're here and
we're actually a part of it and we can share more of the car recovery, don't go anywhere because
we are not done yet. Do me a favor also, you know, if you're liking this episode
and the episodes we put together, we could not be
doing this without you. So please do us a favor,
hit that subscribe button, turn on the bell notification
like comment, share. It really helps us out. And that's because of you the viewers that have already done that, that's what has put us in this
position to be out here to help families like this. So thank you very much,
please help us out. Packed up, leaving for the
night and on that note, fingers crossed. We do make it back in tomorrow, Sam. (slow instrumental music) (slow instrumental music) (slow instrumental music) Good morning, how was
night patrol for you? - Good, how are you? - Good, good. - Could you guys go
back to the road for me? - Per Aaron?
- Per the Chief Deputy. That's what I was
instructed by my supervisor. So (clears throat)I don't know where we're at with that right now, but somebody might be out
there and talk to you too. I know exactly now, but I
can let somebody know, okay? - Yeah, no, I appreciate
your doing your job. So I get it.
- Okay. - No blame on you. - Can you do that for me?
- 100% - Okay, thank you so much. - Yeah, I'm not here to fight
with you at all, all right. - [Sam] Of course I don't think they're going to let us back on. - [Jared] I don't think so either. We'll just have to tell our
story when it's coming out. (instrumental music) - (door opens) Somebody smelled breakfast. - Yeah, it's about time. - You guys were out of here early. - Yeah. - Cool morning for this, isn't it? - Yeah. Sheriff was just in here,
incredible guy again, great to work with would
love to have us participate. We still might be participating in a bit with what's going on whether
we're topside rigging, whether we're actually
diving and we're doing some additional video work because here's, here's what has been that
everybody knows is that Sam and I, we are the professionals in this. We've done this more than any
of any dive team in the state. And their dive team knows this. They know that, but they
still have the, you know, the proper protocols as to who
can touch this at what time. And so we've, we're standing
by to offer up our services and we'll kind of see
where it goes from there. (engine running)
(upbeat music) - [Jared] Come on in. - Morning guys. This is Joel, he's the
subpoena emergency (mumbles) - [Jared] Joel, how are you doing? - Nice to meet you.
- [Sam] Nice to meet you. - So anyway, again, still kind of a, still kind of the original plan. They're just getting set up. They're gonna get their boat out there. Kind of, you know, mark
it out and anything else. we'll kinda play that
by you, we're still... It might be swimming
again, so that'd be good. - [Sam] Perfect. All right. - Yeah. It's an easy Paul. I mean, if there was anything
that the amateurs can do this is one. (laughs) - I never said that, but
(clears throat) anyway. - Just kidding, I'm sure you
guys have proper training you if you watch any of my stuff, I joke around a lot and
I appreciate everything you guys are doing. - We'll get back with you
here on half hour, 45 minutes. About what, what the plan is. - Well then I think there's still hope that we might be able to participate. What do you think Sam? - Yeah, sounds like it. They definitely wanna bring us in. So they're, I mean, they're great guys. So if anything, it would
come down to their hands being tied elsewhere,
not on their decisions. - Yeah. (trucks approaching) (wind gushing) They've not yet pulled the vehicle out, they could be pulling it out soon. - Yeah. - In roughly 20 minutes,
he'll come and get us come in. - Sounds good. - So that's really nice of him. - Yep.
(wind gushing) - Yep, mark the time, thankyou. - I've got all the names.
- Thank you. All right, thank you. - [Jared] What do you see? - Yes, so right now we have
the dive team standing by. Looks like they already
have the Jetta rigged. Tow operator just gave this
thing when we give it a pull. So as soon as he gets out
of the way, he should start. In fact, he's tensioning
to the line right now. So any moment that car has just
start coming right back up, you can see the windshield is
missing on you can't see into the car from here. So I don't have a visual whether or not there's someone in there, but we should know here really soon. (upbeat music) Right now they're
stopping, I think they're, they're checking right now
to see if he's in there. We should know real soon
by their body language. In fact, the way this guy's
standing here in the black, he looks super hesitant. They're they're snapping pictures. They're coming in. As far as my being around
this type of stuff, there's somebody in there just
by everyone's body language, what's going on now. - He's in the backseat.
- Yeah. - May have to speak to the
family, so thank you again, guys. - Thank you. - Yeah, that confirms
my body language theory. (upbeat music) (upbeat music intensifies) (man shouts) - In the end, it's been confirmed that there are human remains inside. We are under the belief that
this is Ethan at this time? - Correct, Yep. - Okay, on that, we really do
want to say a big thank you to you and your department
for being really amazing to work with through this
story and to not kick us out. When we came to you and said, "We'd like to search this
pond" and that should be like, we searched that pond and
you know, got stuff in there. You've been very open. - I appreciate, I
appreciate what you guys do. I appreciate you guys
sticking with the cause. You know what I mean? Because when it comes to
this kind of investigation, you can become exhausted with,
you know, cause like I said, it's been searched, this
is the first place we went. - Yeah. - So thank you for sticking with it. Thank you for giving the family closure. That's a hard message
to deliver, you know, but gives them closure because
just a car wouldn't give them much peace, but we hope
the best with Ethan and it's still an open case,
so appreciate you guys. - So in addition to thanking the sheriff, we want to thank each and
every one of you for being here without you, the viewers,
and without the tips telling us where these cold cases are, telling us to go back to
some of these cold cases, we would have never found
Ethan and this County would not have had closure herself. Thank you each one of you, if you've not done so please do subscribe, help us spread the message in ways we do. And we'll be back for the next
one. Thanks again. Bye bye. (beep sound) (upbeat music)
Where's the part about the missing reward?
9:41 his fly is down
No one noticed how he reported the license plate wrong? It was AUZ 382. lol. obviously didnt matter and was corrected later but it was clearly a 2.
The family are really nice people. I cant imagine how devastating this news must of been, But I hope they get some relief with the closure they have had. I cant imagine not knowing where your kid is for so many years.
RIP Ethan Kazmerzak
I'm not spending 30 minutes on this, but whomever offered the reward... Aren't they obligated? Was it filmed or in print? How does someone get out of this?
The ol' "Anonymous group offers a reward (that is not held in escrow) to entice people to do free work that cannot be undone or retracted for them and then all of a sudden that money is no longer available." trick.
Works every time.
I've seen some of their other videos, and I feel conflicted about them. I think they're doing a good service, but their relationship with the camera is.... unsettling? Like, in another video they had just found a kid's body underwater and then went on Facebook Live or something similar. Like.... Fucking yuck, dude. You're already filming for your YouTube channel content. You're still dripping, and you need to broadcast the info with the family wailing in the background? Even the way they ask for permission and attempt to show how respectful they're trying to be seems entirely disingenuous. It's the equivalent of someone saying "No offense, but..."
Edit: I'm actually nearly finished with the video. He makes an off-handed comment about how he's done more dives than any team in the state, and jokingly refers to them as amateurs to their face, then address the camera "You know I joke a lot, I love what you are doing."
Fucking cringe.
Kaz was a friend from college. I am absolutely sobbing right now. I am so happy they finally found him, and cannot believe I found out from Reddit.
This is really, really weird.
