what's up everybody how we doing y'all I got some really good dance moves let me throw you whoever that one who is that up here yeah you are a legend okay thanks for showing me those moves guys how amazing is it we have Sadie Robertson and Lainey rib and here is that pretty cool okay I don't know where Kathy went we also have Callie here we did she left but she's getting a mic listen what we're gonna do is we really wanted to just spend some time hanging out is that cool with you guys we just want to have basically we're all sitting in a living room together we want to spend some time hanging out together and just ask some questions and get some knowledge if that was that's good with you guys well good maybe maybe I'll just do this by myself anyway I will okay there she is she just wanted to make a grand entrance so guys give it up for Callie Berto [Applause] [Music] there it is we are so glad you guys are here thank you so much for coming are you guys excited that they're here let's just keep celebrating yeah so we're gonna we're gonna ask questions but really we just want to try to ask the kind of questions maybe you would ask and and what our prayer is is that God would speak to you and your heart through through the answers and through our conversation and really what we did was we asked we asked Lainey and Sadie to come in and spend some time talking about their friendship and how they're leveraging their friendship for the glory of God and maybe see how you could do the same and maybe see if God would challenge you and encourage you through this conversation so let's just jump right in you guys go with that Wow a lot of questions but we don't have a lot of time so we're just gonna jump straight in so just I'm gonna start with you Sadie just asked you a couple of questions but let's let's just go straight to Friendship that's good so how did you guys meet and what how do you define your friendship like from your perspective how did Lanie come into your life as your friend okay this is actually a really fun story so have you all heard of it Tour winner jam okay shout out to y'all y'all are awesome so Lanie and I were both on the winner dance tour I was there as a speaker and Lanie was there dancing for an artist named Brittany Cole and we yes it was so fun and so the first day I was in my dressing room Lanie was in a different dressing room and I had this thing that I used to do because I would get so nervous and forgot stage and listen to the same song every single time and it goes like oh I don't even know what it's called was like okay that's my story so I was doing that one day in my room and Lanie came and knocked on the door and uh literally from that moment on we became like best friends because that conversation when she came in my dressing room we just got really real really fast and realized that we were just in a very similar season of life and it was actually one that I had just walked through and so I was able to just kind of be there for her pray into her life and I mean that's what real friendship I just walked in and I was like I know you don't know me but she was crying it's not crying Amelie started crying and I had actually just watched was just so crazy a video of her online talking about a specific situation that I was walking through and and she was so real with me and she looked at me and literally I tell people she was such a good friend because she literally came to right where I was she didn't like staying up there and really oh you're crying you know she came to where I was she met me and pulled me out and went that's not okay let's go and I feel like one of the biggest things we have learned like even we'll talk a lot about that but we've learned is just to really walk towards freedom together it's not about a good friend really like meet you where you are but then goes ok hey let's run towards the goal you know what are we after right now and that is that's freedom and that's life and that's Jesus so she helped me it was really cool because to start a friendship off like that both sitting on the ground crying I mean what a way to start okay you're really there already and so then we had four months on the road together and so we were able to dance together laugh together and walk this journey out and freedom and be accountable to another so it was really really cool that's very special where both of you in a season where you had been praying for a friend to step into your lives like tell us about that yes so this is crazy but we both moved to Nashville on the same day one mile away from each other and we didn't know each other and we also didn't really know anybody else in Nashville besides the people we were touring with and so that was a huge prayer like first of all everybody's like yeah you're gonna find all your friends in college well we weren't going to college so we're like shoot and we didn't go to high school so where are we gonna find friends we were like well we went we did school but home school was just different and so then yeah [Applause] y'all okay don't let anybody tell you differently so this is actually a homeschool convention I don't know if we do that where you're at and so that was our story and so we met each other the week we both moved to Franklin and that is so crazy you know both of you lead such public lives so it's interesting you know we're thinking I bet you have all the friends in the world and to have found yourself walking through a lonely season can you talk a little bit about that like what that was like for me like she talked about I didn't go to college so I actually graduated started working I didn't really know what I was gonna do with my life and just through praying about it I just heard one word and that was serve and so I started actually working at chick-fil-a and I start work at chick-fil-a and not only lasted like a couple months until God opened the door for me to dance which was something that was really on my heart to do and it's kind of funny like people asked me like how did you get there and do that it's like well I worked at chick-fil-a you know and they got open the door but through that I danced for four years and that was kind of my college so all my friends I wasn't taking classes necessarily but I was learning a lot of life lessons and my friends were on the road and so each tour it was like the first day of school like my friends gonna be you know and on that tour I remember looking up and seeing like that she was the only girl that was gonna be you know around my age oh man I really hope that we like it alone you know our friends you know but what about you Sadie yeah same thing I mean I think that people do get tricked into that they see somebody who's may have followers on Instagram but that doesn't always translate into having like real genuine friendship with people and sometimes that's actually reasons why you lose friends and that's what I found myself as as the followers kept growing my friends who have been there with me since pre-k started really backing off and it wasn't that I was changing but my situation certainly was and they just weren't cool with that and now we're all friends again and of course it's it's great but in high school that was something I really walked through and it was so strange because in this time where you would think you would have liked the most people around you it was by the most isolating time so sorry no it's not sad because in those moments I think that's that's when I found Jesus it's like that's when he became a real friend and like I started to learn what real friendship was and then I saw what was wrong in our friendship the ones who left me in high school because a lot of times we can be so upset but then we look at it and we're like actually that wasn't even right anyways and so I was able to really learn what a good friend would be and walk in that with the Lord and then I met Lainey and then now I met my friends who will be my friends for a lifetime and I can actually be a good friend to them because I saw what that was during that season that was particularly maybe a little bit more lonely than the others yeah well let's back up a little bit so most of us know that we've kind of watched you grow up on television really so when you and you were thrust into this public spotlight and a family of believers right how did you how did you guys I mean how did you make a decision personally as how old were you when when when duck dynasty took off guys II started when I was a freshman in high school so whenever duck dynasty sort of became this show that everybody knew about and you're thrust into the public public eye had you already decided that you were you had given your heart to the Lord you were following Jesus and if so talk about that but also how did you what was the conscious decision you make how did how did it go for you when you said I'm gonna utilize this platform for the glory of God yeah I always loved this question people ask me this all the time like whenever you became famous neurosurgeon I see how did you decide to like really walk out your faith and I tell them well that did not happen when duck dynasty started or in Dan Smith started that actually happened when I was 13 and I was at camp and I got baptized and I think when you make that moment when you choose to say I'm gonna follow you Lord no matter what like I'm giving you my life means you give him your life that means if you get famous it's his if you never get famous and so when the moment comes it's not posed as a question well now that you're here you still go and do it well of course you're still going to because you gave him your life and that's what whatever comes with it and so I think that that was just kind of how my whole family saw it so it wasn't so much of this huge decision oh oh now over here we're gonna use it it wasn't so much of you users I own it is who we are good that is good okay so you are professional dancer you've danced on tour with these people and then now you're this public figure how did you guys discover what it was inside of you that you really wanted to do what how did you discover your passion and and I know you worked at chick-fil-a so that's that's like this this transition state where you're going from going I want to dance I want to do this I remember you were dancing on this stage Laney was in the student ministry at Gateway and you were dancing on this stage for our children's ministry and the next thing you know you're touring dancing like and then and Sadie obviously you're a freshman in high school and you go from playing sports and hanging out Louisiana where I'm from anybody from Louisiana in here okay everybody and here's from Louisiana they're home school - they love chick-fil-a this is great how did you guys how did you guys navigate that calling on your life to be something more than just what you were before you said hey I'm gonna dance I'm gonna I'm gonna speak I'm gonna go and move I'm gonna move I'm gonna take a step forward out of the background and and move out and put this thing on the line for the Lord either one of you for me I feel like my posture hasn't changed since I knew I knew I always think of this video of myself and I was a little girl and I my mom like gave me the karaoke mic and I go and I pick it up and all I said was I and I like look to my left and then I look to my right love Jesus and that was when I was little and I feel like no matter what I do that was always the thing that fulfilled me the most was how can I tell people how much Jesus loves them and that is really what I found satisfied me more than anything and like you said I danced for wacky week I did those things I did I I still want to do it again bring back like so yeah I feel like it's just been this continual like Jesus whatever you have for me that's what I want to do and I know that's where I'll be most satisfied and for a little while it was dance and now it's moved into some other things with clothing and music and but all those things none of them satisfy me more than then telling people that Jesus is the way to life and he is what is gonna satisfy them and I know that dance could have never done that and music will never do that alone and fashion can never do that alone but Jesus will do that and he's been the constant and all of those things and I would encourage you with what she said cuz that's so good you know I think that we over complicate it a lot like what is our purpose what are we gonna do in life and we think we have to have this title it's really not about the title it's about what are you really passionate about what has he put inside of you as a gift thing that he wants to see come through and he's gonna do whatever he can to get it there and I think that um for lady like she said when she was little that's what she said when I was five years old I did a similar thing I was standing on my coffee table and I was preaching to my parents and I was telling them all about how good God is and he just loves everyone and then I stopped in the middle of my preaching sermon at five years old and I said you know what y'all even if I'm famous one day I'm not gonna think about myself I'm gonna give it to God then I go so let's give it up for God and it was funny because I was just so naturally what I love to do I love to stand up on the table and preach and just talk about how good god is and so I want to encourage y'all go back to when you were five years old in your mind and think about what did I just love to do before anybody told me what I needed to do for anybody told me what I had to do what's the right way what was the wrong way what did I just love to naturally do when I was five years old and a lot of times it's gonna be something that has to do with Jesus and he's gonna find a way that you can so do that at 18 years old at 20 years old 50 it's it's because he is with you all through your life so good okay so you find yourself I don't know how many years ago but you guys are may have heard of the live original tour which is a tour where yeah it's really cool just point you out you were so cute with your face just Lanie I'm loving it yeah told you is the living room we're all sit in the same place but yeah so so you find yourself out on this tour and it's kind of a it's not even a tour it's just a what it's a one event and and you're gonna go out there and preach for the sort I guess the first time really in front of a lot of people yes I was terrified okay this is actually so funny because I did not have this long thought-out plan I literally just felt that the Lord was telling me to do this live original night and it was basically just so I could meet you guys so that it wasn't just this Instagram following it was like no we're actually friends and we're gonna sit in the same room we're gonna talk about Jesus and so I was like okay what if I just put together this event I just got some friends got family for King country was there it was a cool event and we're just gonna do one night in Nashville and I remember my whole saying that day was just here I am God you know use me whatever way here and I'm just gonna put this in front of you and if you want it to be a tour if you want this to be what I'm gonna do with my life and that'll be great but to be honest even in the process of building that up I was never gonna be the speaker of that like I would went out and said and encouraging hey guys I'm out stage like I wasn't like speaking and so we did this one night and it's crazy because we have a connection here and then from that God just kept opening the doors for the tour to keep going and throughout that found my voice and began to speak but I think that's another point like she said maybe you start at chick-fil-a maybe you start at building an event maybe you start at literally doing lemonade stands I don't know what it is it could be the simplest thing ever but just start walking in it you know there's never people that like to talk about this waiting season but even in the waiting season there's something for you that God's gonna establish Annie that's really gonna come into play later in your life so really take note of the place you're in even if it seems really insignificant because later you're gonna look back and say Wow everything I'm doing now I actually learned whenever I was making some nuggets you know I'm saying yeah it's so good well this is shifting gears kind of back to a friendship but I want to ask a question that I know a lot of people would want to know the answer to as friends do you guys fight I need to know the answer to this yes yes you know sometimes I think we talk so much about friendship but we never talk about conflict or fighting with our friends and how to resolve that in friendships we just are so quick to turn to another friend let go of the old friend I know you guys have experienced that in your relationship so can you talk a little bit about conflict in your relationship [Music] okay yes actually we we love to talk about this because lady and I yes we do argue sometimes and we do a disagree on things sometimes and I actually love that about our friendship and if anything our friendship has taught me that is one of the biggest things and it is such a beautiful thing to work something out with a friend because I think that so many of us at a young age your best friend who has literally been there through thick and thin with you does one thing you disagree with and you're like oh I never speak to her again you go try to find another friend and that's just so sad because our friends are humans okay we're gonna mess up we're gonna make mistakes we're gonna say stupid things sometimes we're gonna be tired sometimes but we're just humans but this girl means so much to me she is my best friend it does not matter we're gonna talk it out and we're gonna look at each other and find a common denominator and the thing is I like to tell this story because this is one of the times that I think that it really comes into play with that conflict it's okay to have a different opinion than someone else and actually it's really valued because you could totally be in the wrong and this is the story where I was totally in the wrong and laney really helped me through this is I actually like my epic freakout of the century it was a day before the Lipper's notes were this past year and I just come back from a pretty crazy trip we're about to go out on the road the next day and everything about what we were about to do I decided in one day that I wanted to change everything I want to change the message I'm sure I'm going to change the setting of the tour when everything I was like it's all wrong we're gonna fess up I was like I don't even know how to speak and how do I even use a microphone it was like just the most epic freakout ever and I was literally outside in the hallway on my face crying and Laney comes rounding the corner and she just looks at me and she was like no no no no no no no and she just can't say no and she says you don't get to do that you don't get to be afraid God has literally brought you here to go out there and to do what he called you to do so you don't get to sit down and cry and it like seriously is one of my favorite moments of our friendship and I think that we were able to do that that day because we've allowed ourselves to have an opinion we've allowed ourselves to have to be wrong sometimes and to be right you know and that was one of those moments that her head was so clear and mine wasn't and I needed her to look at me and say oh no girl so really look for that and a friend it's great I was just gonna say something I've been learning a lot lately too is to be vulnerable with with her and with like my closest friends and with my family and you can be transparent with anybody you know like here's my life you know I want to use it to show Jesus but you have my ear in and I want to hear what you have to say because you know me and you you want it you're for me and I reminded me recently we're actually at my house and we're all sitting around the table with my parents and we're going through the ideogram Enneagram so Sadie knows all about that and she was going through and telling me what I was and I was just like I just kind of like sat there quietly you know and listening to what she thought I was and she then we asked my parents and my parents go into it they're like yeah you are and then and then she goes and and you can be kind of stubborn and I just kind of like sat there and I was like what else am I you know but it was the best thing because in that it was like yeah it's funny and yeah they were kind of kidding but at the same time I was like hey I actually do really want to know what you think and I and I want to understand and let's come to even a common ground and let's see if we can work it out you know so so good that's good all right let's do something we were going to okay let's stand up let's all stand up since we don't have a lot of time I don't know what kind of time we have let's do this why don't we just like I just put you guys out here and let you just if you wanted to just deliver one thought one word and challenge this generation it's your generation it's different for me at 42 to step out and say come on guys you can do it but you guys are 21 and how do you 24 like right ahead of you guys right and so Lainey was sitting out here just a few years ago and say - you're only a couple years ahead so like what would you say to your peers that are that are inundated with social media that are inundated with with the culture that how culture is what culture speaking what would you say as it pertains to their relationship with the Lord and relationship with each other and what's possible in front of them if you could say one thing I feel like I would just say don't look around you or look at social media for your navigation on life look at Jesus say it again that was good you have to I feel like if I've yeah if I get on my Instagram every day and I look at all these pictures and everything and I'm just going through I'm like oh I do not look like that I cannot look like that although I wish I look like that I cannot you know but a lot of those girls probably don't even look like that they probably made something you know there we've created this impossible image that what we're supposed to be but none of us are really bad and so I think I would just encourage you yes look at Jesus for your for what do I do next in every step every day Jesus what do you have for me today because that's what I want and don't look around you don't look at the person next to you because if I look at Sadie all day and go WOW like she's got a tour whoa what am I going on tour I have no idea I don't know if I ever go on to her but hey I'm so excited and because she's going on to her I get to celebrate that and I get to celebrate what God is doing in her life so I would just encourage you celebrate with your friends celebrate what God's doing in their life and magnify that as much as you can because then you'll you'll even be satisfied and you feel like you get to be a part of what God is doing because it's not about us none of this about us it's all about him it's all about him getting the glory and the honor and the praise and that's the best way it could ever be you won't be satisfied no this is such a beautiful thing friendship is such a beautiful thing and I hate that the enemy has really tried to twist that and I work that perspective through middle school and high school people because friendship can be hard right but I feel like it is such a beautiful thing and what Lanie kind of said you know if she were to look at me all day if I were to look at her it would just be silly and it would just steal so much of our confidence it would still our joy because comparison is completely irrelevant like comparison is so dumb and I just want to say that because literally why would I compare myself to Laney when I'm never gonna look like Laney and I'm never gonna be Laney and I'm never gonna be able to do the things laney can do because I can't sing like Lani I don't have bangs like Lenny and if I did they went like that good let me just tell ya I don't have blue eyes and so to do that to sit here and to look her up and down and to try to be her would literally just be to compare and it would be dumb and a waste on my time but the minute I stopped doing that I look at her and say wow God has made you so beautiful he has to put something in you that is so beautiful that you can give to this generation that I can't give and so I want to come behind you and I want to make sure that that gets out and then I can look at myself and I'm gonna say God what have you given me and what can I go and get out so the worst thing that can happen today is if y'all look at us and y'all say I want to be Sadie Robertson her I want to be Lainey Redmond because I doesn't really get us any further in our generation or a world the best thing you can do is to go home get this word out read this word and find yourself in him because when you become confident in who you are in him that's when the world starts to change before because like Lainey says to me all a time before you're ever gonna know what you're gonna do you have to know who you are and so go find out who you are and Hebrews 10:35 it says so then do not forget the confident trust that you have in the Lord for that will be richly rewarded have patient endurance have patient endurance when you're at chick-fil-a have patient endurance when you're in the process of riding what you're about to put out because what that's gonna do is it's gonna test and approve all that God has promised for you but in doing that and that whole scripture in that whole verse and this whole word word of God it doesn't say be confident what you look like be confident in what you're doing no it says be confident in the trust you have in him for that will be richly rewarded and I want to point out one more thing because this is a verse that nobody really talks about but it's in Ephesians 5 and I want to say this first to you because if I would have read Ephesians 5 in high school or middle school it would have literally answered every single lie I was telling myself and called me out on it because there's a lot of gray areas happening that you're kind of like that really say let me tell you Ephesians five it really says it all so read it now and it'll save you from a lot of drama but in Ephesians five this is a really cool verse it says speak to one another with Psalms hymns and songs of the spirit and I say that because when I read that I thought how silly would that sound if we were all walking around and speaking to one another with Psalms hymns songs are the spirit and if we were just like speaking to each other just the Word of God like does it that sound crazy because that's not really what we do but when I met Lainey it didn't become crazy because that's like oh we do all the time we talk to each other about what God's teaching us we talk to each other about scriptures were reading about what we're praying about about what we're walking through and it is so so so encouraging and if there's something that we know we probably don't need to talk about then we just don't talk about it we just kind of give each other that look and then we pray about it and then when we're at a level head then we talk about it and I'm not saying that like oh we have it all figured out I'm saying that because we did it wrong for years with different friends and now we just decided let's just try to do it right and doing it right is just doing it God's Way and so if we can encourage you in any way today it's just no no no who you are in him and when you do and when you're confident in that you won't compare yourself to others and you'll cheer each other on in friendship and we pray that over our generation because guys when you team up together you go so much further than you could ever go by yourself and that's just the truth [Music] [Applause] guys don't you appreciate these girls but you guys give it up for him one more time thank you guys so much
