behind me here sits a 1965 chevrolet c10 nicknamed lawsuit last time i had this truck running and actually drove it was fall of 2019 and it was a mess drove it to a car show and on the way home the brakes blew it out on it that's weird so i did the right thing and already registered it at a drag racing event in just a couple days huh that's that's fine [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] if you're like me guy likes to fish in his free time and if you're also like me guy doesn't have any free time but that doesn't stop me from fishing i'm actually doing it right now with the game called fishing clash come on oh this is a big one easy don't break the line come on oh yeah what is it i don't know we didn't need that one phishing clash is a free game on ios and android and there's a convenient link for you right down there in the description to download it fishing clash is a fun interactive fishing game where you can continue to level up try multiple different locations whole bunch of rods and cats all sorts of fish the fish you catch you can collect them you can try to beat your own records you can even beat boss fishes you can even compete and go head to head with other fishers throughout different events every week and when you might even find yourself up against old derrick here i'm going to even help you out here to get new fishers started off on the right foot use the gift code fish with derrick you're gonna get a three star rod one mythical lure the florida pro license nice and 30 weight power ups to help you catch the big fish that's a total value worth twenty dollars all you have to do is click up in the corner there select gift codes and enter fish with derrick boom free stuff so go ahead and click that link down there in the description and get fishing you need new stories anyway i am not going to get anything done today i'm sure by now you fellers are wondering what's going on here you're going drag racing but you're bringing this thing why not take the independent chevelle or the montebarro or something with a little sparkle and pizzazz to her well this event is called the duct tape drags and it's taking place october 1st and 2nd in tuxen arizona i've been there i think for something can't remember any who it's more of a bring out a hooptie and let's just have fun and run them down the track if you can pass tech and i think there's going to be i don't know burnout competitions and all sorts of stuff i'm probably even gonna have a meet and greet and have some merchandise and stuff like that there as well so if you can make it out that would be really cool we're gonna take this truck just because it is a hooptie and it's been a couple years and there's a few things that just need to be done this truck and it's just kind of been pinned up there for quite some time i think where we should start is you know i need to rejuvenate the memories on this i got wires hanging everywhere let's just kind of walk around this thing get a list going and what we need to fix because again the big issue is going to be can this even pass tech and remember this was abandoned truck in a tree row the engine was literally stripped down to nothing just a couple years ago and i've only driven it once so this should be you know it's going to be interesting that's going to be a big issue fortunately we're going to have to fix that up a little bit i already did put a brake master cylindrey in it it looks like you could tell by how rusty it is i filled her up with some earl last night and it shot about 42 tons of juice right down here on the floor so as you can see from my notes it's not here or here somewhere around here so we're going to have to fix on that a little bit and then i got to rooting around underneath and i don't know if i did this or not but the drinker side brake line it's pretty much blue teeth right now you just can't see it so we're going to have to run a line over to there and probably put a wheel cylinder in because i'm going to take that one and round it off completely so that's nice so a line here plus we're gonna have to patch up the main line from the distribution block back here that goes up front to the master cylindry so we'll have to start off there probably and then we'll move on to some other stuff we got some wiring that needs to be addressed i'm not sure but i don't think they're gonna like you know this kind of stuff and also the sad cable hooked into another clampy that's barely hanging on something wrapped around that this looks fine we'll leave that probably tidy up the lightning cam that's just bouncing around in there you know basics this has been boiled 748 times you could tell by the battery acid is that acid oh yeah that's acid pouring out of the top there so i got this one that's been tumbling around in the back of the pickup for about nine months we'll plug that in and hopefully that'll solve that issue i'm gonna keep these never know when you need extra ones if we get super ambitious and have enough time we might even put some gauges in this thing i don't know look at the oil pressure we probably don't want to know we could put tape over it if it's bad the big one is water temperature this is plugged in but the gauge just goes hot so is that a bad gauge or is it getting hot again we'll just put the gauges in and if it's bad news we'll just cut them off i guess i don't know anyway let's start off by the brake line because that's my favorite crawl under there see if we can get this one patched up from the front to the rear and then we'll probably have to bust that other wheel off and i did pick up a wheel cylindrey yesterday see if we can get that cobbled in there and get at least a little bit of woe pedal enough if they say does it have brakes i can hit the brake pedal and maybe it'll at least come back up that would be nice pretty interesting under here you can see it's already been replaced on before the leaks down here somewhere right in this section i think but it's even been pieced together over here so this is going to be the second or third time that the brake lines have been cobbled together those all steel lines just don't last up north you got to get the copper clad lines which is steel lines with copper coating on it because they don't rot so bad and i just learned when i bought some sticks of brake line down here in the south you all don't have that it's just steel which i guess i don't know makes sense a little harder to bend though that was the other nice thing about the copper ones you could just breathe on them you got shapes got the other stick of break line out here and sure enough she's pretty rotted right here probably just got some dust and mud stuck and jammed up on that frame rail and there she goes not sure how old it is about 22 years give or take nice thing that it's out now we can get the other stick and just make one the exact same size and we should be able to just uh boop plug it in i'm back here i am made up a stick i think i even got the right bam center and remember fellers if you got a rig that you care about might want to blow some brake cleaner or maybe some wind through these pipes so you don't jam any the breasts into your new brake parts all right let me scooch back under and plug this in yeah well i got the tire and wheel took off i want to be able to get this wheel cylindrey out the nut is rounded off on it and i don't know a guy could struggle on it but in this case it's six bucks so save a little time maybe that'd be nice and this way a guy can get a new brake line from the drinker side over to the rear distribution block and maybe have both rear brakes i don't know it's a thing anywho tire wheel off is what i was saying peepers hooked on something it's not good fellas this could just shut us down uh oh we've got some wi-fi suspension components going on here clearly that's not good imminent catastrophic failure basically what's gonna happen when i dump the clutch leaving a line is this is going to snap the tire is going to cobble up in the box the springs are going to spring out everything is going to crunch and bend and break on these old four links this here guy is the only thing holding the axle where it's supposed to be right here so when that snaps she just starts it going and then you got this here sauce pan bar hard pan bar frying pan whatever that keeps the axle from going this way then obviously these do the bouncing and everything else so we're gonna have to fix this especially if they lean under here we're gonna have to do it right there that looks pretty good fixed if it held the independent chevelle frame together that should be just fine got the drum off had to persuade on that with the tanya a little bit no big ridges in this surprising i mean it was full of junk but looks pretty good and thankfully she's even got some shoes left on her all be dipped and that's great because of course i didn't buy any of this stuff now i've got to very delicately get all this hardware and springs and whatnots out of here because again i don't have any of that so i don't want to break it then i can get the wheel cylinder out clean her up a little bit pop the new one in then we're all the way back you know to bringing that brake line back around again got my undo the brakes hardware tool and see if we can just ease all this stuff out of here [Music] sure 74 months later i got updates the two bolts that hold the wheel cylindrey into the backer upper plate that does the brake things those they just well their circle is what i'm saying and i can't fit my vice grips in there i'd have to cut them out and it'd just be a mess so i spent way too much time and ended up getting this rounded guy out which is the fitting for the brake line so i guess i'm gonna put everything back together that i took apart and we'll just try to use the old wheel cylindre and just pretend that you know this was the plan the entire time well the guy did get everything back together and fought a little bit on this one if i'm being honest and that's why it's always an advantage if you're gonna do brakes on a vehicle specifically drum brakes plan ahead and get all new hardware with it because playing around with these old brittle springs and copper holder honor devices and all that it's a nightmare and you got to try to clean everything up i mean look at all this stuff i had to scrape and beat off of this just to get it to kind of go back together but for this particular project you know that's perfect onto the rear brake line stick here i got to do a really really sharp bend right when it comes out of the tee to go over the diff and over to the drinker side wheel housing area now i do have a really cheap bender tubey thing little cheap handheld thing but i can't find it this place is a mess so i'm going to show you a different way with a socket a piece of weed whacker string and a wrench you can get a tight bend in here i'm going to take this weed whacker string i'm going to jam it right down in the old brake line here just you know get it in there go ahead and put it in put it in the line and what that's going to do is when we make this bend it's going to be sure that it doesn't collapse all the way on the inside of this line then take my open end wrench put it on the fitting grab a socket i got a big one and then all i have to do make sure the fitting is at the end of the line here i'm just going to roll this wrench right around this socket like this there we go now when i pull the string out i've got a sharp 90 in here and i know for a fact it's not collapsed on the inside no special tools necessary now i can plug this in that's too long and then start making the rest of the bends and whatnot let's play when's the last time you were in this truck it's been a long time you ready to help me you know the drill right i've never seen that smell before true north it's really good i think they're in the cadillac too i like it all right 10 times yep what do we got we got any pedal a little bit see what we got wow the pumper a couple times yeah they're like that right off the assembly line that's good enough for now i think once the kid gets around to driving it we might put a discollator kit and boostilizer and all that but we're only running it on a drag strip so pump it a couple times that should work fine what do you think trap speed will be 55 50. i'll say goodbye if you're lucky so that'll be fine and i found out from the guy that unloaded this off truck the e-brake works awesome well we can let her down and start getting on to some other stuff thanks for the help appreciate it [Music] easiest mess to clean is the one you don't make rolled the truck out so i can kind of clean up what i got going on so far there's so much dirt and rust and stuff just everywhere anyway when i rolled out the truck and hit the pedal it stopped so that's good check that one off the list officially now where do we go to huh i suppose let's go on the battery we got to figure out a battery box and some sort of tie down or hold down that's going to be on the tech list get read them all the mold cables and stuff like that too so this here you know she ain't going to float or fly so let's get in here this stuff is all shot anyway this wire actually runs the accessories and the ignition of what knots hooks into the voltages and the boxes down there that make clicking noises we're going to replace on that as well but step number seven is i think we got to take either the existing tray and or i got a plastic tray can we set that in here inside the tray of the tray and then put a strap later thing on that maybe self tap the other one down i don't know this will be just a two minute little quick swap rooney why didn't i just plug this into there oh hose is probably too brittle sure enough well believe you me she's held in now i used the original hole for some sort of bracketry down there and then i just zing zang the hole in over here this is a cheapy little generic hold down thing i got from the parts store and then now all i need to do is just custom fit it [Music] perfect these old chaby's are so nice 7 16 half inch 9 16 i could disassemble this entire truck including the engine the riley's has a nice wall of these cables here a bunch of different flavors and lengths and different ends and with or without the doodads and you name it yes yes torqued what did i set it to 26 foot pounds perfect next i'm going to take the cheapest spade terminal and ring terminals i could find and some 10 gauge wire and i'm gonna run a new wire over to the battery here and get that accessorizer just you know full lightning voltages we're flirting with making a nice rig here we gotta we gotta just slow down a little bit here and think some of this through maybe if i don't fully crimp this that'll bring us back around that sounds like a plan this is turning into one going to town outfit got this hooked on here with three or four different kinds of metal so hopefully we get some biometallic corrosion pretty soon fisher on through here see that that's custom up through here shoots out over here and plugs in and i didn't use any grommets because i didn't want chip foose calling me asking me to work for him even out of the body ground here see that didn't crimp these up very good that's fine use different colored wires on everything and usually the wrong ones gentlemen that way when a guy tries to steal your rig just burns it down reminds me of dayton in high school if you can't have her no one can all right let's move on to the belt that's kind of an issue she's got a waller on her and boy is this thing old so we'll pop that off quick put a new one on as far as i know it charges it's never had a dead battery i take that back it's always had a dead battery but wils running down the road it's never gone dead on me so we'll just assume that the charging weather is good and just throw a new belt on it fast get this old belt out i've cut myself three times in that already so i'm just gonna leave it me just like that yeah this belt is she's shocked you wanna just stretch these out until your c7 pops and or you get lightheaded there we go like a guitar string i was going to run the black velvet jug overflow of 3000 on this but i don't quite think they're approved so i picked up this guy it was like six bucks pretty handy little unit even came with the pipelator on it but the hardware in it was as useless as braille at a drive up atm so i just got some self tappers and my own washers i'm gonna stick them through there see and then i'm gonna zing over there on the fender to where it's kind of ish hanging upper yeah i was slamming this around in here trying to come up with a spot for it i saw a leak down here sure enough right there on the hose oh oh i don't think that's from the zip tie because we'd barely run this maybe it is probably not looks like a classic blowout but i don't have a plugger offer that size right now i'll come back to that later that'll be a really easy fix and we don't need a heater anymore where we're going so guy can finally just delete on all this i think but i'll do that another day for now i'm just gonna slide this down i don't know right there looks good right sure yeah that's probably not going to function properly but looks the look that should be fine enough tape this up also known as temporarily permanently fixing it so that's good stop the leak is it really a dumb idea if it works you know what i'm saying fellers well we're cruising right along here we basically did a full restoration on this thing at this point what else was there left to do oh seat belts yeah that's a big one i also found a fire extinguisher and one of my going to town boxes over here that's just chock full of miscellaneous small block cheby parts small block ford parts stuff like that also my wire that i ripped out of the truck here see i save on this stuff and just throw it in my little tool case here you never know when you need a little piece and needed a couple today might even save on that belt just put it right back into the new case so guy knows the size that's a 39 and 5 8 typical 3 8 v belt there but could get you home in a pinch i went on the line and picked up this seat belt it's real nice nope complete opposite 90 inches that ought to be plenty i'm hoping there's some bracketry in here we could just screw it or bolt it or maybe zeus it onto the chair legs in there i don't know i don't know this is where things get custom you know what i mean so i'm going to take a peek at him to see if there's some way we can have this in there so the inspector goes yep seatbelt well i had a staff meeting with everyone else here today and well we decided to go this route it came with some bracketry took me about 17 months to figure that out luckily it had constructions you loop under both and around one then through both but not the other one through the center and then under this one and then out that way it's hot out today goodness gracious anyhoos came with the hardware saved money there so we're just going to bang some holes in the floor sure right there and you know there's one over there bolt them up and call it good even though this floor has zero structural integrity left and the seat belt will just tear right through it it looks good sure that's done i might order up another one of these maybe hold the ends two hundreds for the other side just so they match the kettle probably wants to ride along eventually but i might have to find a more secure way to strap at least that side down while i'm banging holes and stuff i got the drill hot maybe we get this bolted down quick i'm gonna get a some sort of strap you know we're going to bring this back into spec whatever that is not sure just as long as it doesn't look as crooked or as now then we could line this up i think i got it see how it's out here but she's in here so i think ross or kitty wampus or something i got to get this lined up right before we slam holes in it this side's pretty good so could it be as easy as just bringing in the topper side here and then i think just four bolts one g trace four probably ought to hold it in there's some camp chairs and gear oil now some of you may not like the look of the bed cap or the topper call it what you will but listen not only do i like it for the looks see all this maroon kind of blends in ties everything together this came off that 80 chevy but it's also structural integrity i mean you don't need bed mounts but basically this topper is the only thing that's keeping these bedsides from just basically falling off the truck got the bedside aligner 11 000 xl plumbed in here i think i've got some right angles says my eyeballs and then i use the rear door capitalizer technique sure it's even locking and then this here of course down to the front gets a little bit more narrow but i think i got her you know where a guy is gonna say i need her so it's enough for the girls we date so let's go ahead and bolt this down gold bolts over [Applause] oh that's budget yep sure wow what is that i don't know something happened finger tight is tight right okay good it is hot in here oh i forgot a washer whoa okay i feel like this should be an obstacle military training i'm hooked up i'm up oh a piece of cake now when we cross the finish line at 58 miles an hour that's not going anywhere well since she's full custom now let's throw some more parts at her throw some gage laters in this one's from summit racing they're actually really decent and very affordable we're just gonna jam them up somewhere on the dash you know and then under the hood i already got the temp sensor jammed on up in there if you can help it try to use some of this high tack gasket sealant instead of that thread tape sets in there nice little more flexible and ain't gonna leak on you in four months 13 days and nine hours blew to hole through the firewall there the other night now all i got to do is whip that oil pressure line you know basically just like this how this one's really nice like this down into there unfortunately it's a plastic line but it'll work it'll work probably come out that same hole there and then we'll just crudely mount it slightly crooked underneath the dash and we'll have temperature and oil pieces boom decent as it shall turn out this was next got that calculated off i'm gonna do the right thing and just let these hang here even though they're deleted she's in full race mode now as far as the cooling goes now i just got to run this out into a field somewhere and recycle the coolant that's in it currently and we're gonna pull up to the house and just put some tennessee tap water on it which is probably 80 proof maybe 90 not sure you can't have the green stuff in there fillers when you're running the drag strip you drop that down oh people will not be happy slickery very slickery we're near in the end but we do have one very big project left on this thing and that's taken the sos pads to her and i've decided to throw the patented shine juice down that's right let's go ahead and get some of this blue popping out in our pupils there and then we'll get that shine juice you know the ball linseed oil and some other special ingredients and lay a little bit of shine down on this thing i mean we're racing but doesn't mean it can't be a show truck too so before we lay the shine juice down you guys have seen this a couple times but in case you're new to the channel we'll splain on it a little bit we want to get all the color we can out of this but we also want to leave some of the what fellers call patina patina i don't know never heard of her anyway i'm gonna take an sos pad the kind with the soap in it and this is quad zero zero zero zero zero steel wool it's very very fine it's almost like sandpaper in a way now if your rig is shiny don't use this uh oh scratches but something like this it works perfect we can just get in here and scrub on this a little bit it doesn't take a lot like this we're going to get all this oxidized paint off and then if we rinse it off although don't pay attention to the shininess look at the difference in color you got kind of the sky blue you got this nice dark blue and if we kept going with it we can get some more of this white out like that door there i guess it's up to you but it's going to take me a good hour at least to go around this whole truck and scrub her down kind of where i want it and then we'll dry her off see what we got at that point i got a lot of white out of here and through here i like that a lot i've really brought this brown out there with some black moldish stuff over here a couple of advices i can give you after doing this a couple hundred times how much and how long do you scrub with the old sls's and it's about a pad a panel that's how i do it so one pad here just go tell there's nothing left unlike the box use another one for the door i'm going to use another one on the fender basically a whole box is going to be your truck when you get to the end i want a bunch together like this and i'll do like the hood and the roof last and again not only is this smoothing the paint out tremendously it's cleaning up a lot of the gunk on the paint and this is where you can let your artisticals go i don't know what you want to do you just keep changing the color and scrubbing on it and like this black i can take that off if i wanted to but i don't so i'm gonna leave it there see [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] guys got her all whipped out that was a lot of fun actually got some brown out of here left my note that i wrote for uh cutting the metal on the seats got some black out of here that looked pretty cool a little bit of white down there brought some white out here i'm gonna let it sun dry for a minute back her up back into the shop if it still starts you know and then i'll mix up some shine juice try not to light that on fire and then you know we'll bring the shine down on it here's the thing fellers i've actually been working the last couple days with not one but two dislocated ribs and it's starting to tickle a little bit for me so i'm gonna go lay down for a minute and i call jessica and she's gonna take over the whole shine juice application and just put a bow on this thing for us okay so to mix derek's special shine juice we use these three ingredients first one is the boiled linseed oil must be boiled because regular linseed oil is a lot different then we use the mineral spirits that helps cut down the shine from the linseed oil and the wd-40 actually tries to hold on that shine a little bit so basically the more linseed oil you use the more shine you get and then to cut that down you use the mineral spirits okay so to start we're going to use the linseed oil sure you're going to do about twice as much of the mineral spirits whoops oh there oh gosh sure that works now all we have to do is mix this together mixed and we are ready to apply all right so to start you just simply need to dip your egg in it get a little bit wet and then you can just start wiping it on remember too if you mix flammable chemicals they're still flammable but you want to make sure that you dispose of it properly that or you just want to store it really really well because it can spontaneously combust and obviously you don't want any of that this is looking pretty neat so far [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] well thanks for stepping in for me and taking over the shine juice the truck looks fantastic i love the fact that there's like 147 different colors going on in the truck right now it looks so good it looks like really shiny and i'm excited to see what it looks like tomorrow after it dries a little bit it's still going to look really wet tonight we're going to let it dry overnight and some of that shine will dissipate and that's what the earth ghost juice does is kind of cuts down some of that bowl linseed oil so in the morning we'll kind of see what it actually is going to look like and keep in mind it's going to stay like this for depending on where you live i don't know where you're at feller is what i'm saying look at the weather i guess three to nine months i'm gonna say you're gonna reapply it and then it's just gonna keep doing the same thing and it's so easy it's so quick to do like you literally just get your egg wet and go to town nothing really to it and it's pretty fun isn't it it really is i like watching like the change so like you know going down the truck and seeing the shine appear is really cool two of the funnest things is doing an sos pad because you can change the color and kind of yeah make manipulations and then put the shine juice on it but that's going to do it not only is it hopefully drag strip ready but it's show truck ready probably not easy next time you see this we're going to be rolling it through tech they're going to be inspecting this truck from bumper to bumper and they're going to be telling us if we can drag race this thing in tucson arizona yes i guess send us some good luck but wait there's more just a reminder you could download fishing clash by clicking the link in the description down there and don't forget your free gifts by using the gift code fish with derrick thanks guys for watching appreciate it very much we'll see you next time [Music] you
