Playing Sonic 06 against my will

i sure do love video games and through the years i've played so many great games super mario bros 3 linked to the past metal gear solid doom metroid dread final fantasy 7 persona 5. the list goes on but there must be a balance and with every good game there are bad games with some being more notorious than others games like et superman 64 hotel mario balon wonder world bubsy 3d and for the sake of transitioning into this next paragraph sonic the hedgehog or better known as sonic o6 sega experienced a rapid decline after the genesis and on the way down they managed to produce some real pieces of garbage and let me tell you i played this game for the first time and holy i think i had a stroke while working on this video so i went in blind thinking how bad could it be and uh um it was it was pretty bad but hey i played through all of balan wonder world and i promised that i would eventually hit this iceberg too now just let me be clear i'm going to play this entire dumpster fire so if you're not subscribed now would be a good time and you could ring the bell too or whatever i don't really care enjoy my suffering alright sonic 2006 we shouldn't be celebrating i have heard mostly horror stories about this game i assume this is the girl that sonic wants a kiss on the lips this is also the first time that i'm playing it so i'm expecting it to be a disaster but you never know it could surprise me i have played ballon wonder world after all what do you see in the flames oh so everyone's dead you can fly what's this girl's backstory who are you and just like that the 2006 olympics can begin oh no the olympics are under attack the cgi is like the cutscenes are pretty cool oh those are the robots from the show those are the swap bots well they look like swap bots oh my god dr eggman looks like an absolute nightmare i am dr eggman why would they design him like this this is horrifying that's a pretty snazzy performance though oh the boy he's here from this cut scene alone you would think that the game is awesome i'm sonic sonic the hedgehog this whole cutscene is very like adventures the sonic the hedgehog vibes trigger the what this is the most lifeless cutscene i've ever seen in my life but i guess not terrible for 2006 sonic take this don't drop it don't drop it [Music] yeah about that i kind of traded her for a chaos emerald pretty good trade-off if you ask me so is that the first stage oh do i not have homing attack yet i guess i don't it's a nice door in this town oh i gotta go to the store and buy my power-ups hello we are the army democracy is non-negotiable look at the way he talks with his hands this guy's italian oh wait i think this is the store it looks like a concession stand well why does everyone talk with their hands like that i need 100 coins to get a light chip which will allow me to dash across a trial of rings yeah i'm of course i'm leaving already i'm broke my name is alberto robert and i've been making shoes in this town for a very long time i'm making the ultimate shoes now they're my life's work i'm calling them custom shoes that's the best that you could come up with so anyone who could possibly test these shoes out for me you'd be willing to do that yeah put on the shoes and go through the rings if i've made the shoes correctly you'll make it on time i hate when i'm late to everything but it's mostly because uh the shoes that i own weren't made correctly okay control's a little janky it's fine i'll still take the free movement over just being forced to run anywhere i mean the physics are still very sonic adventure but like much worse amazing they performed exactly as i thought my custom shoes are complete the stones that you can fit into them are called gems and you can buy them at the shop over there just like that the old man vanished into thin air it makes you question was he ever really there or was the old man just the shoes that we bought along the way all right i got money now give me the light chip what do i have to do here there we go oh right that is a weird animation wait a second [Music] i clearly should have lived there people love this game this is the game that people say is great i think if i just stand here tails respawns and then immediately dies [Music] tails you okay all i did was hit the jump button [Music] he didn't make it all right enough's enough let's check out the first stage okay i can like slide on water very slippery controls because they're wet isn't there a fan project where they're like remaking this game or i don't know fixing it why do we need fan projects uh is red good do we want red why do we need the fans to constantly redo the games that are bad i'm kind of excited maybe someone will redo bell and blunder underworld but just have to make an entirely new game okay so they kept the grinding which is cool and a lot of people are like yeah this is supposed to be sonic adventure 3. now don't you dare insult me fire huh i assume i need some kind of power up to do that or is it just like hey don't break this because it'll explode or i can just do that oh god jump i jumped that just launched me into the water now i'm whale food i'm just gonna hammer the jump buttons what is happening oh there we go yeah okay i don't know if that's how fins work so if i remember correctly sonic team actually split the team to focus on secret rings in this game at the same time but i'm wondering like did they also i don't know split their brains how does tails attack do i just fly into people tails hurry up i'm trying my guy sonic i'm just you're gonna just have to chill out for a second what is that what am i doing why am i going to first per do i have a gun [Music] can we see sonic in the distance just flailing holding on for his dear life okay uh not that way not that way ah not even this game wants to play okay so they're ring bombs you know his tails has ring bombs remember all those games where tails had ring wasn't the right way to go now dare i say that this is currently making bell and wonder world look like ocarina of time yeah fine whatever okay i was going into this with an open mind but i don't know anymore it just launched me into the water i like the part where you can't run into obstacles or you get hurt it seems more realistic just grasping at straws here dude why are we always upside down maybe if i hold left here because i'm kind of like drifted is it even possible to do this oh my god please be patient with me oh we finally made the jump and this is i'm probably gonna like fall off one of these pillars and die oh god that was brutal do i really have to play this whole game just made it and we got a bee for it damn after all that we still couldn't catch up to the egg carrier where are we now are we in like venice did tails just die hey welcome back i got this uh just anti-gravity chip in allows you to use sliding wow look at this anti-gravity to think as a kid i wanted to go to space camp i could have just slid on the ground same thing mr sonic just call me sonic so glad that you came i always keep my word god the voice acting in this game is also god-awful what is this a giant robot a weapon to surpass metal gear all right so this will probably take uh i don't know like 12 tries being that this game is awful i'm assuming we're just gonna homing attack him oh we gotta grind up his head okay come on run into the wall or this pillar oh i see i see the statue with the cracks come here a little doggy who's a good boy who's a bad game hang on there's like these statues which i guess we gotta hit there we go oh oh come on boy not on the carpet at least it's a better boss battle than fighting the ferris wheel in sonic colors now i just i want to know if you do like this game genuinely give me the argument or let me know why you like it or if you think it's a good game have you had your head checked lately come on just hit the wall there we go oh no my only weakness walls and we didn't even die once but i gotta be in the first stage after you know what i'm not even gonna question it you know if uh all these robots weren't coming to kill all of us i would say that this is kind of a beautiful sunset hold on tight okay that's a little too tight hold me closer tiny dancer wait i gotta do this whole stage while carrying elise and i could still homing attack if you put your power together ah what does this do oh it allows me to walk on sand right silly me thinking i could walk on sand without carrying a teenage girl you know she's not used to this kind of speed so she's definitely gonna get sick just like throw up all over sonic you know what i was kind of hoping that the game would get better it's it's not getting better it's getting worse this game is broken up into i don't know like three parts or technically four parts so kind of relieving being that we could do all of sonic's part in one go and then shadow and then silver now i'm wondering did they give shadow a gun in this game it kind of reminds me of like the fire shield in sonic 3 except like not as cool in fact not nearly as cool or hot it's fire beat the stage with minimal deaths all right ma'am this is where you get off she's just chilling there she's like what do we do now sonic's like hang on just wait for the rank like some of the cut scenes you could tell that they put more work into this than anything else all right you're safe here in the middle of this field where there's not a soul around this is weird who thought this was a good idea so do they kiss or is the whole thing that like sonic wants to kiss she has very tan legs and a very pale upper body unless she's wearing leggings all right i'm gonna fight silver now who might be the only redeeming quality of this game i haven't gotten that far yet my name is silver for the future of the world i will destroy you okay hang on silver yo just frame one killed me so how do i he just chain of the fountain the other guy's saying it's true captain that's guido the captain is one of the men you've already spoken to it's got to be this guy over here everyone's pointing to this guy and this captain is i'm not the captain yes you are the captain's in front of the fountain the only people next to the fountain that tell me it's you tell me this entire time you are the captain you are the captain you son of a knuckles wants to see you knuckles the homies looking for me all right maybe he's over here stop you violated the law i'm gonna find the dude in charge i don't know what they said or i can just hammer the uh the a button that works too oh here's a big one this has to be the final it's gonna take down the gundam no we're not done yet looks like there are a couple hiding out behind the water cooler i'm afraid of the homing attack in this game because i'm just so scared it's gonna launch me into the ocean as it has done in the past all right this is gonna be interesting knuckles what are you holding there knuckles i saw eggman on the outskirts of the city he wanted me to give this to you if you want me to return the princess you must give me your chaos emerald oh sputter fingers better not lay a finger on my butterfinger remember when they used to do the butterfinger ads with the simpsons weirdly nostalgic about that oh it's a snowboarding stage so this is gonna be terrible god this is so bad what is happening why are we doing front flips please know that there are people out there that defend this game and i understand that there's a remake happening but kind of sad when you uh you need fans to remake an official game for it to actually be functional i'm going to die why are we not moving want to play a good sonic snowboarding game go play sonic riders in fact maybe i'll play some sonic riders i'm dead i tell you though white acropolis is a banger one of the better tracks big jump i jumped there i swear to god i jumped all right take three the weird camera angle change here it stops you because you're holding one way on the analog stick and you have to completely change very good game design telling you can't wait to go back to playing sonic adventure 1 2 which are a treat the controls are so much tighter in fact they're better games solely because they have tighter controls because in sonic games it's critical no you won't tails just sometimes you're a little harder to control in sonic weird ass first person rings bomb throwing oh i can drop bombs i can just like go above them and just why do i have so many and so few rings i kind of look he likes being able to just rain hellfire i'll take it from here oh good very reassuring sonic because you couldn't do it this entire time you rely on tails mash sonic mash a like you've never mashed well no i lied you're in smash bros time to grind sonic that looks like a very uncomfortable position to grind look you're gonna tear your acl god i hate to go fast parts cause they don't work in this game the physics don't make sense all right made it through with very minimal deaths so that's clearly an s-rank just made it you know what it's an s-rank in my heart at least you don't you don't look too good yeah at least you need some vitamin d totally a fair trade just give up the chaos emeralds first because we trust dr eggman a hundred percent knuckles you idiot this is the solaris prototype oh so it's boss fight time rest assured i was just saying rest assured they're dead ah classic knuckles i always ended up with a concussion i didn't expect to see you guys who that oh it's rouge rouge shadow with shadows here too wow this place uh sure is destroyed the top and knuckle shoes they've always reminded me of lego bricks okay we're going into why hang on we couldn't just grind it normal we need a we need a faux snowboard all right big jump not gonna die here can i not do tricks the trick is actually surviving oh okay that wasn't an opportunity to jump it's maltress i'm going to go this way or not the game's like no you are not going to go this way can i go anyway all right that's fine sonic's like the whole city's on fire but watch me do a sick 1080 over this pile of corpses um hello that killed me oh crap oh okay we're still alive we're still alive not for long though oh where we going give me some rings oh huh fine whatever i'm kind of afraid to switch your better track changing system or do i just have to hope for the best we just have to aim in the general direction is this the same city that we fought chaos in the end of sonic adventure it's not but it looks the same sonic is way too familiar with destroyed cities i don't know how any of this is physically possible just debris floating in like a jet stream i know we're questioning the weirdest things but listen content is content so let me do my thing that tornado is carrying a car yep they do that sometimes ow ow it just gets launched what hurts me and what doesn't hurt me there's such god-awful controls here come on great ring should be easier to grab you can't control it once you're in the air this is so stupid you know to sell don't jump if uh you're like slightly on an angle gotta be completely straight all right focus up we're doing the damn thing maybe unless a car says otherwise wait oh god we made it through crisis city the real crisis was the development of this game just made it you consider a bee just making it boy do i have news for you according to the dana the princess died when she was kidnapped by eggman whoa whoa okay that's dark battleship exploded you mean we've got to go through there if you don't like it you can stay here oh you tell her knuckles i don't know all these levels just seem so uninspired it's all just like rock and smoke and loops oh yeah that's that's gonna be fun pressing the a button and hoping for the best which is kind of what i've been doing this entire time all right just fall in the lava that's fine you see it's these games and this style of 3d sonic that trained me to uh do multiple homing attacks so when i was playing through sonic colors and i did a homing attack on every enemy people were like why don't you just like zip right through them because i learned otherwise you know how many hours i put into sonic adventure one and two i unlocked green hill zone all right i can't help it to feel like some of these stages are probably more suited for mario than sonic kind of feels like that one honestly that one boss fight in mario odyssey where he just fights the dragon it just it feels like the most out of place thing for me he's fighting like a bayonetta boss oh giant rock monster gotta fight a golem very formidable [Music] and just like that sonic was cast into the volcano and melted instantly just pressing the a button see where it takes me i mean so far so good who installed the rails in an active volcano i just i want to know who thinks they're not going to be boiling hot or even solid all right i'm getting better at the game i don't know if that's just because i'm adapting to how bad it is or if i'm just adapting to how janky it is oh we get to play his knuckles now i don't know why i'm excited yeah i know i can throw some hands i'm knuckles i climb yes i can you know why because the name's knuckles it's unlike sonic i don't chuckle i'd rather flex my muscles so dark in here i can't even see how funny knuckles is running the first time you get to play knuckles you don't even get to see him just gotta look at his like silhouette all right oh and that's it they're gonna take knuckles away from me just when i was starting to have some fun i don't know which way that's not the right way we just went in a big circle where are we oh the end thank you and good night just felt like another pit of despair but what it really was was the end of the stage i found a chaos emerald don't touch it ah you touched it it's just a bigger version of every other enemy that we fought all right defeat iblis you got it how the hell are we gonna do that ow is there some way to draw him in yeah uh we could just hey hey yo ugly you get your looks from your mama don't be talking about my mama there he is hey how you doing buddy is this right am i am i doing it right how do i how do i hit you you think i hit his face like the eyeball there you go uh where are the chaos emerald back now we have two of them it's like shadow you want to trade my mom says i'm not allowed to trade do they come with like instruction manuals you just have to say chaos control and then just that's it it works looks like we made it back we're back in the city okay so we're gonna get the bounce bracelet and now we can we can bounce i've got to get ahead and help the train all right all right that means i need to go fast i have a feeling that uh everyone on this train is doomed just look who they're relying on i gotta sit here and bounce i gotta bounce myself like a basketball i've got time for this there's a train full of people in danger there's like no indicator that tells me like how i'm doing either so i could be doing really great or uh the train could be like impacting with a wall or the bomb or whatever something's telling me that i missed where i needed to go yep sorry about that so what do i do once i get here it's not like i could grab the train or anything did i do it are they safe we're having some really good graphical quality here i i don't even know but i'm gonna fall off and i'm gonna die maybe i'll land on a train who who even knows anymore these high speed segments are god awful you need a perfect jump and if your angle is slightly off like awful terrible this game so what do i do now is this rainbow road where are we going [Music] i don't know if any of that was supposed to happen no wonder people idolize modern sonic games or i guess let's say boost era sonic games because like this is the last thing they remember alright and we go to the sixth layer of hell all right come on let's get out of here let's finish this awful level done just made it the egg genesis much different than the egg master drive i have a feeling we're going to climb up the boxes and oh there we go climb up here these idiots they always have a weak point right on the top i want to talk to the engineers seems like a fatal flaw that is just never fixed very kind of you to not spread your robots out so i can just jump on top of your head how do i how do i dodge this oh just like just like that there we go relatively easy boss fight oh no it's heading right for us [Music] it just feels like everywhere in this game is just empty i mean look around it's almost like you would find the z fighters fighting vegeta and napa here i forgot i have to activate our powers to walk on water so i've been openly bashing this game on twitter so it should be no surprise that this video was even coming but a lot of people like come on it's not that bad or you have some people that are like but the soundtrack you know what the soundtrack in this camp is not even that good i don't think it holds a candle to i would say most other sonic games i'm trying to find the redeeming qualities and i think maybe silver might be it it's almost like they wanted to be really edgy with some of the tracks in this game and you can tell that they wanted to be really edgy what they should have been was good at developing i'm dead uh sonic i don't think it's wise to be doing tricks while you're holding another human person where are we inside the deku tree you gotta light the spider webs on fire [Music] when sonic gets hit it kind of sounds like the uh is it roblox the the oof meme my my age is surely showing right now [Music] okay while it may be frustrating at least some of the ways you die in this game are hilarious now elise is giving me direction she's like all right that's enough we've been in the stage for like an hour it hasn't been that long she's exaggerating this is where the entire budget went to make the trees and water look nice in this cutscene real cutting edge graphics all right here comes the giant eggman ship why fight if we literally don't have to i could just be really passive aggressive instead of fighting tails can just make underhanded comments to the enemies like oh you're gonna use that weapon for the record i'm pressing backwards and somehow still climbing up why is this considered the extra act why are you gonna do tails dirty like that tails anxiously awaiting his grade he's like the kid in school who reminds the teachers that they had homework only a bee you've wasted so much of my time waste his time 2006 am i right with me earlier i wouldn't have had to do this you wish to rule over time damn it eggman you had to go and try and revive a god you can't just relax for a second take a nice vacation it's always about world domination dr eggman would have a mechanical keyboard he's the dude on the discord call where you just hear their keyboard all the time you want the red gem it allows you to use slow custom action which slows wait i can control time now what does the blue gem do then mocks me yeah no thanks when all three of the stone pillars around you are a light the path to the old castle shall open the first is the trial of knowledge this will test your mind get to the goal by following the warp gates okay seriously why does everything in this game just feel so open and empty like look at this there's nothing here oh here's two okay uh left nope that's clearly we've done the test of intelligence so next up we have the trial of courage this guy looks like you guys remember that berries and cream starburst commercial that isn't cream berries and cream amy who did she pay off for this well done now let that eagle carry you come on josh groban away we go uh i'm pretty sure this eagle would have just like eaten me sonic doing the naruto run i need to rescue the princess oh me too what a coincidence oh we get to play silver now okay for like a second use psychokinesis with the r trigger trigger okay this is uh this is kind of cool can i do it to the robot i can stop their bullets i'm getting shot but i'm not losing rings do i levitate over there i feel like i can't make that let's try oh yeah no that's not gonna work all right so now i understand we gotta knock down this thing over there we go man what a piece of crap and being able to like grab someone's missiles and just fire them back feel like magneto so i get why people are saying that silver is like the redeeming quality of this game because a game that feels like it really punishes you for going fast because it's so hardly broken like it's cool to be able to do something different oh wait i can just pick him up we broke it back to sonic okay game sucks again uh you're gonna have to pay for that and sonic just like broke a stained glass window too not like those are super easy to replace because like you gotta make a new one when i was a kid and once followed a recipe me and my family were making stained glass cookies so essentially what it was was you melted down life savers and that was like the center of the cookie and then you would put it inside like a the base of a shortbread cookie let me tell you they were inedible it was like eating shards of glass it's like getting an oreo and being like yeah let's fill it with uh cement you know how long it would take to eat one of those cookies i got to tell you playing video games noon commentary has uh really allowed me to reach deep into the weird memory bank of my childhood so i'd like to thank you for uh coming down memory lane with me on the daily it says follow the egg carrier but i'll tell you if you look up i don't see the egg carrier anywhere so what are we following yep okay did exactly you told me to be careful to not do can we please make this jump listen to me the game doesn't work it doesn't work oh thank god because i can't do it anymore we're just we're so close to the end that i have to finish and i do realize we have like two more stories and then like a final act to do listen it's all gonna happen i committed to it i played all of balan it's only failed by to play all of this dude how long is this level we gotta like almost be out of here it's been like 40 minutes ending the ending seems like it'd be right behind this door but surprise it wasn't it was just more level oh god it's a high speed segment oh no all right so far so good okay yep this is gonna okay great i just i love this animation of sonic just upside okay we're running on the waterfall now where's the end where's the end of this oh god it's over here it's over here i know it's over here even realize that you can equip some of these gems which basically just gives sonic all new kicks but like why would i ever want to be small sonic oh god i am so fast alright so i'm going to use the small sonic i don't know how good it oh i see why it would be good this place is called aquatic bass it's not very aquatic definitely a base hang on i was small how'd that hit me bridge is so narrow one bad homing attack and you're done come on game just hold it together just a little bit longer just a little bit longer what's up with the liquid floaty balls what are we in like a sensory deprivation tank i've always wanted to go in one of those seems like it'd be really relaxing you just sit in the dark i mean i basically do that already how do you think these videos get made i get on the ball i can get over there i'm afraid that walking okay how about be careful of lasers all right there's the end of this section i'm afraid i'm afraid someone's gonna catch me off guard because i'm right i'm gonna hit these switches seems to be the the right play here yeah everything just dies how do we emp this entire game uh tell me i was supposed to get in there for some kind of like time limit i would just break it okay that's fine that's the cheapest glass i've ever seen in my life i'll go on ahead all right knuckles time we get to play him in the light honestly i can't fully express huh honestly i can't fully express how excited i am for idris elba knuckles i just i really need that sonic the movie 2 trailer like injected directly into my bloodstream so if we can maybe hurry that up don't mind me just going to hit the brake robot switch thanks all right we're almost there i think it seems like we're almost there please let us almost be there all right and we're out of here which means it's final boss time more importantly it means i'm almost done with about a third of the game play time's over what is stopping sonic right now from just doing a spin dash and like decapitating dr eggman he wouldn't have to deal with this anymore like we didn't even have to give him time to get in this the egg wyvern which is a robot dragon it seems a little excessive for one little hedgehog all right he's letting ah ah okay you come on over here i'm gonna go oh god okay there goes some of my rings that doesn't work you know what i'm gonna use the power of the red gem and my air max 95s okay we did something we caught on we're piloting we got to crash them into things i think oh god this got controls for this is just really bad hit the debris okay there we go the part that sucks is we gotta hit him like 15 times because he's the final boss all right slow him down there we go all right that's two oh yeah easy come on man you know i have a homing attack why would you
