hello and welcome to Baldur's Gate 3M Shadow coach and welcome to the channel in this video we're going to review the user interface or UI in Baldur's Gate 3. now that it is officially released so let's get started we're gonna go left to right a lot of this will be basic probably self-explanatory information but it can be confusing and I was trying to do a few things that just took me a minute to figure out so if you do go and find this video helpful please drop a thumbs up and leave a comment all right let's jump in on the left here this is all about our party so by clicking this button up here we can open the party tab the other way we can click it is clicking the tab button on our mouse and keyboard um down here these are our character cards so we can have up to four characters and then those characters might have other characters attached to their unit card like familiars or companions from that perspective now it's important to note that sometimes we want a group our characters and sometimes we want um so they all move together as it is now but sometimes you're going to want to position characters independent of each other so there's two ways to do this so if you just want to pull out one character and use them for something you just left click and drag out uh the chain and now they are separate so they're not going to follow each other this is great for positioning or if you just want to send one character away if you want to quickly regroup them on mouse keyboard click G is going to quickly regroup them and then they're gonna follow whoever you have selected uh here on out um so again we can also click here toggle group mode um so if we click G if it will separate all characters um so if you have more characters each one will be separate so you can individually separate them and then click G again to kind of relink them um so they all move together uh you can also do it by clicking this button then finally we have hide so if you have an individual character selected if we click C we're going to hide or we can click toggle hide for all of the selected party so click shift C so that means as long as the grouping of characters are together shift C we're clicking this button will have them all hide and Crouch all right from there in the bottom right going left to right again we have our inventory so if we left click here we can open our inventory this will also allow us to look at our character sheet which is interesting look at our spell books kind of equip different spells um if appropriate and we can also open up Alchemy which I'll post a different video on how to conduct on me later on um up here these are kind of General stats so we see that we're hiding but we're in clear areas so we will be caught on site that's important to note if we have half moon we're kind of partially hidden and then I believe if this is kind of like a darker looking color then we're fully hidden so that means you don't necessarily get caught on site from there we have our unit card we can double click here to Center on them um if you want to quickly Center on them depending on where you're looking so if we go down here if I double click uh left click here we'll kind of run over here underneath here we also see our hit points so 20 out of 20 hit points the right side is your total hit points left side of the current hit points um so as you take damage that will go down um from there we have our two different weapon sets you can left click on each one and then what will happen is it'll update um the kind of action bar here on what you can do with each one which is convenient if you right click you can undo that use melee weapon Set uh so here if you click F you're just switching between the two and if you are dual wielding um toggling this with r is important because if you have only one sword here only your dominant hand will attack which I believe is default the right hand if I'm not mistaken but toggling or clicking this to two means that if you are doing loading you will swing with both weapons then you have your offhand melee attack so keep that in mind if you want to do a wield and you're only swinging once right because this little button right here is not toggled to have the two little swords all right from there we have our call it the main action bar so this terminal bar is basically everything that you're able to do in the world more or less at any given time so down here this is kind of the overview of everything if you click on common these are just for common actions if you click on fighter these are our unique actions for the fighter class or for whatever class that you have so sometimes these could be spells if you're a wizard or other classes from there we can click on items these are items that we have on our character so as you switch characters and click items you're gonna have different items to use so if you have a lot of items and Scrolls and stuff it's just easier to click on items so you can see the full option instead of the abbreviated version here then passives these are passive actions so this is actually really important sometimes in the game you're going to want to incapacitate an enemy and not kill them for good reason we don't want that heat on us so if you left click on this this is going to toggle not only attacks so you can knock someone unconsciously like killing them you must be unarmed or using a melee weapon does not work on a dead in constructs um so make sure you have the appropriate weapon because clicking the sun will do you nothing um if you don't keep that in mind all right and then custom uh here we can actually drag certain spells or different things from our book and actions into here for a quick reference so we can customize this which is why it's called custom and then here we have our kind of abbreviated version important note that every character has a set of certain abilities from a common perspective so we have jump hide through some of these are class action so keep that in mind Dash disengage dip so we can dip our weapons into stuff like with poison shove absolutely critical if you sneak up on someone you can shovel over the ledge improvise melee weapon and help help it down character remove burning and tingling web prone and sleeping um so I think almost everyone has the majority of these um more or less although there are modifications depending on your class or the character you have selected all right up here on this little bar Above This main bar we have these little dots and things so the green one is our action so this is our call it primary call it swing or shoot or whatever main action you take then we have bonus action so this is a secondary resource in combat um so sometimes we can use other things that count as bonus actions versus a full action um if you have a Caster you're going to have different or not even a Caster but if you have different types of characters you're gonna see different things here so for example spell slots for level one right now we have three spells we can use and once we use you know the spell slot three times or cast three spells that basically use one of these charges the only way to replenish them is then long rest so as you gain levels you're gonna gain um you know spell slots two or level two two small slots those are going to kind of fill up so this will expand up here then we have can trips can trips do not use spell slots so you can cast them indefinitely um which which is great um so keep that in mind they just don't tend to be as powerful as actual spells so you should save your spells for a larger or scarier enemies just given that you have a limited resource until you have the long rest all right coming over here to the right we're gonna see different modifiers up here in the top right here so we can have opportunity attacks and do other things so keep that in mind also over here sometimes the UI will expand so if you have a Bard and you have Arctic inspiration or other modifiers you're going to be able to see that from there we can toggle the hopper or lock it or not so that's when we want to move things in and out I keep it locked because I don't accidentally want to pull something out just keep that in mind that if it's unlocked you can move this out and then it won't appear in your little bar anymore you can increase the number of rows so if you just want this to take that more space you can from that perspective with these plus and minus keys and then here we have and turn we're not in combat so that's not going to do anything and then to the right of that this is how we rest so you can go to Camp you can take a long rest I go to Campton today or short rest you have two short rests that you can use between every long rest so this will restore 50 of your hit points uh warlocks restore their spell slots which is interesting so there are also modifiers on what can a short risk can do a long rest is going to reset everything you're going to get your hit points spell slots intro rests all back however it does consume supplies and you advance a day so keep that in mind then you can just go to camp this is helpful if you want to swap In and Out characters if you want to talk to characters or companions he picked up along the way to build relationships so you can do that finally we have the combat log this is super helpful because it shows us everything going on you can increase it in size by clicking the plus and minus it's not a drag so just keep that in mind I do recommend taking a look at the combat log to see what's going on because there's a lot of things happening beyond the scenes and sometimes things just happen too quick and you can't see what happens moving up to the top right we have our map we can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel and also use plus minus here Center on character which is the home key which we talked about it's going to tell you where you are here we can ping on the map this is actually more helpful if you're playing with other friends so keep that in mind then we have the map where if we click M it actually opens the map and finally we have our Journal which is J this is all the fun objectives and missions that we have including those that have been completed that we can read through to kind of um you know show on map and track and complete so that is the UI in Baldur's Gate 3. this is the official release version um they could make updates in the future but I do plan or do believe this will be stable if you did go on to find this video helpful please drop a thumbs up and I hope to see you in future videos Shadow acoust out
