lord has been doing in our midst and we are welcoming all of you on social media platforms of course we i don't know if i said but this is the international gathering at beth rafa uh this is the zoom room and uh those of you who are in the zoom room we're welcoming you and all those on social media platform that are tuning in um we also have special guests in the zoom room and so those of you who um we're going to get ready to get started we want um to prepare our hearts and minds for the men to cover us in a word of prayer immediately following that the scripture we want to thank god for the presence of our bishop today we um we encourage you bishop we want to encourage your heart this week it's just so good to have you in our midst amen the men at this time good evening each and every one of you welcome to the men's revival at this time i'm asking all the men to stretch your hands out before your screen as we do a posture of covering let us pray father we thank you for this day this is the day you have made we shall rejoice and be glad in it we thank you oh god for this uh hour this time this moment as we gather in your name to give you all the honor the praise and the glory lord we ask you tonight that as we gather in your name that you will allow your presence to rest and your holy spirit to rest rule and abide in this service lord we thank you for what you're going to do by faith ahead of time we ask you lord to touch the hearts of your people lord we ask you to anoint the speaker in the name of the lord jesus we come against them we curse every distraction that might come to interrupt the word the songs anything that might come into this zoom channel and out throughout this um moment we pray oh god that your holy spirit will take control satan the lord god rebuke you and the hand of the lord is against you we stand in our authority tonight no weapon form against us and against the church tonight as we preach the word of god as we sing to god's glory and lord we thank you that you might use this time to touch hearts change minds and win souls we thank you for it bless our bishop in jesus name amen and thank god amen our theme scripture for this week is coming from the book of first timothy chapter two verse eight that's first timothy chapter two verse eight i'll be reading in your hearing first timothy chapter 2 verse 8. he begin at the reader of many times what are you doing over in that pastor why you over there eating that bad grass you know i'm saying when god says he leads you by the still waters isn't that what he says he restoreth your soul come on let's just follow him saints i know we we like to know everything you know i want to know what's going to happen i want to know how it's going to happen i don't want to know who it is and when it is and that's why we just get so upset but just go for the ride i mean you you follow everybody else and went for the ride and then they led you to the garden path follow him who loves you and most of all he knows where to take you amen amen put your hands together for that i want you to worship the lord today for being your leader being your leader my god who else can lead like god why do we trust him because he knows the way is not right pastor dan he knows the way oh my god and you know what he's not going to take you anywhere and leave you no man he he takes me and he goes with me you know you know when i was a little girl there there's a um there there's a place called you know race course at the park and whatever and and they had a maze i think they had a maze i don't like maize because you know a maze is made out of you know plants and whatever and it's it's you get in there and you have to find your way and i never forgot this my father took me there i think maybe i was about four or five years old and i couldn't find my way i was hysterical you talk about somebody screaming and carrying on because everywhere i turned there was no way out and my father was laughing his head off because he was waiting for me at the end and he was teaching me how to follow he said you have to follow the path and you will get out of here you you get so hysterical and upset that you're turning the wrong way i i never want to have that experience again no no no no i told them daddy please don't ever take me here again because i was and that's the way it is when you don't follow the path guess what you end up somewhere and can't get out but i will follow i love that song thank you all thank you i'm telling you i am feasting on the god of my salvation because he leads me he leads me and sometimes i'm bulking and kicking when i'm so glad i follow so raise your hand if you're in the following mood i'm in the following move amen i want to go all the way with him amen so glad you join us because this is our men's revival and it doesn't mean that only men you can see it's not only men that are here but the men are speaking that's why we call it a men's revival and they have a scripture and they have a theme now the interesting thing is they have the same scripture so it'll be interesting too interesting to watch how each person minister every night from the same scripture and you learn something new isn't that marvelous that one scripture can unveil so much and thank god that he uses us with our various personalities he uses us with the way we are he uses us with our understanding so that each person is preaching from where they are they're not trying to be anybody else but they have a word i my cup is turned up now last night uh pastor mckenzie preached hand over fist oh my god it was just awesome and i don't know what you took away but you know reverend pat who is head over our um our prayer ministry and also in the bible college she she's over that area of prayer and missions she always says pray the scripture but last night he talked about intercessory prayer and i've been feasting on it all day today you know we were taught when we were children in the old church it ain't no old school there was a church way back but it's same church and we were taught to pray through and praying through meant you pray past what you want into what he says that's what he said last night i said oh my god because he's only going to endorse co-sign and fulfill what he says so i'm coming to him with all my feelings and he said come come you know he's a good listener he's going to sit he's going to listen to all the crack stuff that i bring him and all of this stuff and then after a while i'm going to pray past that the holy spirit is going to break through all of that and say exactly what god is going to do or what god is saying or what god wants me to do and that's when the prayer becomes an intercessory prayer not praying what you feel and it's about other people it's about other situations and god is going to say boom and listen to me let me tell you something when that happens oh my god something you know some i don't know about you but i shake i shake and fall out and carry on you you i know don't be like me just be cute but i when when that happens the glory of the lord comes out the song says heaven came down and glory fills my soul because what i'm in agreement with him that's when the soul is satisfied when you hit that spot yeah yeah you know what it is about hitting a spot i keep talking about this restaurant in manhattan we took somebody out to eat and and at this place place and i don't i don't eat ice cream a lot i'm not an ice cream person and she ordered this big ice cream and it was it looked so good and she says come on have some you know in the table that's big everybody could take their spoon and it looks so good and creamy i said no i don't eat ice cream she said no go ahead and taste it and i took the spoon and i almost ate up the child's ice cream i mean i just dug and dug and everybody kept looking at me oh you don't eat ice cream but it was it and you know from that time i can't find that taste anymore that ice cream i keep looking for that special taste well that's what happens when you get to that place in prayer you just can't settle for anything else you're looking for that that place where heaven comes down and glory fills your soul so so i thank you thank you pastor bine you you left that in my spirit and i i carried it all they were and guess what guess what reverend pat it it happened this morning early lord have mercy i had i had time at the time you know and and where i live they know but they've been knocked on no door and asked me what's wrong with me because heaven came down and the lord gave me an answer he gave me an answer i can't say that i don't have clarity am i solely satisfied well tonight my soul is ready again because i'm greedy i want some more and we we're going to hear tonight from from our uh another one of our young men but before we do that let's give us unto the lord we just want to take the time out to worship him in giving as reverend um doreen taught us all month long the grace of giving the grace of giving to other people the grace of giving your time the grace of giving your talent and the grace of the tribe of joshua jada jerry layla ava and lily i gotta name them all in order because i get i get a report bishop all right glory to god he deserves it all right let's go to our theme scripture i'll be reading in your hearing first timothy chapter 2 verse 8. once again first timothy chapter 2 verse 8. for those of you who are reading it from a bible it's in the new testament right after thessalonians alright you can also find it on your screen first timothy chapter 2 verse 8 here begins the reading of god's holy word i will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting so far the scripture i was gonna say you may be seated but you already see it amen um my title for tonight is position yourself position yourself the epistles written to timothy were written by the apostle paul first timothy was written approximately around a.d 63. you know this is teaching pastors or pastors are taught how to conduct their lives and their churches the the first of three pastoral epistles first timothy contains the aging apostles paul's insight for a new generation of church leaders timothy had often worked alongside with paul but was now pastoring in ephesus we see that in chapter one verse three paul warned him against legalism and forced teeth and false teaching uh he also warned him against uh listed the qualifica he also listed the qualifications of a pastor and and deacons and and that's in chapter three he also describes the behavior of a good minister of christ you can find that in chapter 4 verse 6. though first timothy is a letter to a pastor paul's teaching that thou mayest know how god though that thou mayest know how god the oughts to behave thyself in the house of god okay that's uh chapter 3 verse 15. although this was written to pastors and leaders this also applies to all of us okay now chapter one's breakdown is is is a good set up for where we are going tonight so chapter one breaks down of course we have paul's greeting in verses one and two and then we have paul's warning against false teachers and wayward doctrines in verses 3 through 11. uh we had we see in verse 3 and 4 and i'm reading from the nasb just as i urge you upon my departure from macedonia to remain on at ephesus that that you would instruct certain people not to teach strange doctrines nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance the plan of god which is by faith so i urge you now see we see paul encouraging timothy on how to keep a stable mindset while pastoring these people in ephesus we also see paul's encouragement to stay in christ and that christ will save and we see that in verses 12 through 16 so in all of this paul is encouraging timothy not from a place of bravado but from a place of humility as christ extended the same grace to save paul the worst of the worst that he can extend the same grace to save others all right amen so that brings me to point one a proper posture a proper posture now you know we've been in the pandemic now and i'm not going to talk about any of you i'm just going to talk about myself you know i have become a little rounder if you understand what i'm saying since the pandemic started things don't fit the way they used to um it's just it's just tight in certain areas you know my my work i went from working in a place where you know it was impossible to sit at any time of the day you would move around you you got to go from one place to another one office to the next office you got to greet a customer here work on something over here so there was no sitting down so a byproduct of working was staying in good shape now that we're in the pandemic i have switched my my work habits because i'm working from home so i went from moving around all day long to being stationary and seated in the chair so now my back you know you start to slouch you're leaning over you got you know my posture is now off things hurt like they didn't hurt before because my posture was off so what is what does that have to do with what we're teaching tonight it takes a toll on your physical body when your posture is off it also takes a toll on your spiritual life if your posture in prayer is off right so first timothy chapter two verse one it reads i exhort thee therefore that first of all supplication prayers intercession and giving thanks be made for all men now why is this important this is paul here giving us a proper perspective on what proper posture looks like before we do anything else the chief thing the most important thing to do here is to position yourself for supplications what's that pastor brian did a marvelous job so if this is night one for you i totally recommend going back to get knight uh one pastor bryan did a wonderful job but supplication means a seeking it's a asking and treating the lord prayers a dialogue it's a conversation between you and the lord and then intercession pastor brian i'm still in it it means prayers that hit the mark is when you pray god's will for a situation or a person and then we have and thanksgiving what does that mean who are we praying for the bible says all men every type this helps to keep your posture upright and aligned so what does this say to us we have to get in a posture of praying all the time for everybody praying praying what god wants us to pray praying what god tells us to pray not praying amiss just as an active exercise regimen will align your body and keep you in shape and active intercessory life or intercession will keep your heart and your mind align with god and his will amen all right point two eager to worship right so i will therefore that every man what does the word will mean it means a deliberate action i purposed it i put it in my mind to do this thing i have made a decision i am making a conscious effort to do something what are we doing i will therefore that men will pray and it's strange that pray here means something different than it did before pray here means to offer up prayers to god this is where that supplication comes from that intercession this is this is not just a a a single lord bless them no no no no no this is where we go deep where we start to pray and ask the lord what am i praying for what do you have me to pray for in this situation or for this person your posture this is where your posture aligns there ought to be a demonstrative action in your prayer now the bible says here to lift up holy hands the word lift here means to lift up to rise to raise high you know i thought of you know fellas you know got i'm talking to the guys for a second when we go to a game or if we're watching the game on tv and our team is getting ready to score listen you can't tell us nothing we are on the edge of our seat you know listen all i got to say is football fellowship sunday you know how we acted in there it was it was either you were against tom brady or with tom brady and we caused a holy ruckus in there it was it was holy foolishness bishop holy foolishness i'm telling them i mean running around handkerchiefs in the you know our team just we're going we're blowing y'all out you know poor sim sam had a many bad uh all right i'm gonna leave him alone but it there was an excitement there was a there was pride in lifting up your hands for your team my team is winning that's the same excitement and the same jubilee and the same purposefulness that we should be lifting up our hands unto the lord in prayer keep that in mind the same excitement nobody has to beg you to cheer for your team even when your team is losing your hands are still up bring that mindset to lifting up your hands in prayer to the lord bring that in excitement you know i also thought about when you know when you were in school and there was an assignment due and you did not do the assignment and you showed up to class and the teacher said we're going to be going over the assignment who would like to go first so also you're looking for pencils your head is down you're hoping that please don't call my name why because there's no excitement there's no there's no jubilee i refuse to lift my hand but when you did that assignment and you know you learned it and you got some goods from it you were you were the first one before the teacher even asked who would oh me lift up holy hands that's the excitement that's the joy that's what needs to come up when we when we position ourselves in a posture of lifting up holy hands unto the lord then we have holy hands what are what are holy hands these are undefiled by sin from you know uh uh uh religious hands unwicked hands holy hands pious you know but the word hands here describe the source of a man's might so we are to keep the point of our strength our hands now i'm not lifting up holy hands because i'm holy i'm not lifting up hands because i'm perfect i'm lifting up my hands because i understand that to whom i'm lifting my hands to is where i get my strength from lift up holy hands lifting up hands is a sign of surrender to god's holiness because he is perfecting as we're lifting he is doing a work as we're lifting that's why we can lift up hands under any circumstances you know it blesses me to see pastor angel after all that she's been through just as jubilee even more vile if you ask me still able to lift up holy hands through all the circumstances through all that we're going through look at david second samuel chapter uh uh 12 verse 2. this is after david you know the jig was up slept with bathsheba got her pregnant had her husband killed the baby was born the lord checked it the baby dies what does david do he begins the reading of god's holy word then david arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his apparel and came to the house of the lord and what did he do he worshipped he worshiped in the worst circumstances it is still possible to position yourself to worship come on fellas it's time to posture ourselves differently we've been doing too much stuff on our own we've been we've been we've been raising our hands for for athletics we raise our hands for all this other stuff but it's time to get right it's time to position ourselves fix your posture tonight come on i'm encouraging you and imploring you in the lord fix your posture position yourself raise your hands raising your hands doesn't mean you're perfect it means he's perfect but raising your hands is an acknowledgement that this is how i get it right this is how i get it straight position myself hebrews chapter 4 verse 16 tells us let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain what mercy and find what grace when will we find grace to help in the time of need come on fellas position yourself lift your hands you have access to come boldly god is telling you if you've never heard it before regardless of what situation you're going through god is daring you to come boldly because he's the one that's going to clean you up he's the one that's going to give you the mercy he's the one that's going to give you the grace even in the time when you need it the most he is the one giving it to you position yourselves come on that's the holiness of the lord when i'm lifting i says it's his holiness i'm lifting my hands to not because i'm holy it's because he's making me holy lift your hands lifting up holy hands and it's humbling to lift because in order to lift your hands and come boldly to obtain grace and mercy in the time that i need it that means i'm lacking something and i can't do it by myself i'm not strong enough i'm not as strong as i really thought i was come boldly lift up i'm surrendering because you got what i need and i'm lacking it's okay it's a humbling experience but who else would you run to he wants me just the way i am flaws and all to come boldly point three the resolve to worship point three the resolve to worship now verse two the b claw says without raft and doubting without wrath and doubting without means to be separate from to be a part to put beside without any wrath now lift up holy hands without wrath what's wrath it's your anger it's a temper listen it means to be agitated in your soul why are our souls agitated because lifting up my my holy hands or lifting up my hands unto the lord means that i have to acknowledge all the greediness inside of me all the hate inside of me all of the ignorance inside of me i have to cut this off and and to lift my hands if if i try to pray to god with all of that inside of me we're praying to miss how am i gonna pray for you and i'm agitated in my soul what kind of prayer would i utter if i'm agitated in my soul imagine me praying for deacon mark lord bless him you know he got a nice car i ain't got no nice car i gotta you know my car breaking down but bless him i'm agitated look at my look at my nasty soul praying to miss and what's the thing about it is you're really angry with god because you think you should have something that he doesn't think you should have check your attitude against the lord why are you so tight when you pray why are you so tight why you get so uptight that's not intercession you can't intercede and be tight with the lord somebody cut you off it's in you drive it's over it's over somebody get too close in the supermarket and have the nerve to have some a tickle in their throat what we're going off we're going off check your attitude check the type where's the tightness coming from the strength of my intercession comes from a clear line a clear conscious a clear and direct path to from me to god i can't pray tight but watch this where's the anger coming from where is it where's the exhibits exhibiting anger you know how can you pray angry check the source of the anger where's the anger coming from is it because you don't you you're not where you think you should be is it because god said no where's the anger coming from check the source of the anger you can't pray to god wagging your finger at the lord you can't pray to god when you ought with your brother got something against your brother you can't intercede and vent at the same time it's impossible so that's what that's what paul is telling timothy to do pray without the soul being agitated pray without the soul being ready to be anger pray without the movement of your spirit pray without anger also without doubting and doubting and it's funny that he put wrath before doubting so that tells us that we got to get something straight before we can even get to the next place because if there's anger in it you're definitely going to doubt so you pray without or lift up holy hands without wrath and without doubting what is doubting the thinking of a man the the deliberating with himself the inward reasoning the questioning about if a thing is true how can we pray and we're hesitating can god really does he have the ability to is he really telling me what to say when i'm interceding if the connection is off you'll doubt if you pray angry you'll doubt it means skepticism if you doubt you're a skeptic did god really say that did god really tell me to pray for that is he really saying well i had a feeling you know those are the kind of the key words that come up when you're doubting i had a feeling or or i just thought it wasn't buzz words check your posture when you hear yourself saying buzz words am i really aligned where am i where am i the doubting comes in when we are far removed from what god is saying if god says pray for my brother because what you think is meanness is really fear what we think is jealousy is really pain but you can't notice that if you're doubting if there's anger in your prayer first john chapter 5 verse 14 and this is the confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us intercession prayers that hit the mark prayers that that that when god wants you to pray for those are the prayers intercede you gotta hit the mark and you can't do that with angry hands you can't pray like that with angry hands you can't approach god with an agitated spirit and we don't like interceding because interceding gives you a memo from heaven we want to write the narrative we'd rather pray what we want to pray and make it sound real nice and pretty and just miss it god not even be in it why do we doubt why do we doubt because we're we have undercover anger because i can't have my way we're having spiritual temper tantrums when we pray a miss we have to position ourselves paul gave us the formula to fix our posture and to pray the right way and what's the end goal chapter first timothy chapter one verse five here's the end goal now i'll be reading this from the nasb version here begins the reading of god's holy word but the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart from a good conscious and from a sin seer faith it's time to position ourselves it's time to position ourselves may the lord bless you on tonight and i turn it back into the hands of our bishop let's put our hands together and thank god for that wonderful wonderful sermon position yourself set yourself up according to the instruction in order to execute what god has for us this is not just for men this is for all of us amen that we need to put ourselves in the right posture with the right attitude now he's not suggesting tonight and i think i can speak for him that you cannot pray to god with your anger he you bring your anger to the lord you bring your frustration to the lord but you can't ex intercede for me with an angry spirit now you might have to get your own self together i'm lord i'm angry that i'm angry about this i'm angry about that but when it comes to praying for somebody else that stuff has to be worked out so that when you can have a clear understanding of what god is saying about the person or else he'll pray for for god to kill him listen if we call them imprecatory prayers you know what i'm saying and and from my background i'm from the caribbean and i i was raised in a culture where they they specialize in imprecatory prayers you understand kill him dog that means kill his dog kill him cat kill the cat and have too many cats all right killing picnic means kills his kill his children trust me religious people pray those prayers and they really think that they're okay with it and they sing the fourth stanza of the hymn they're in church every sunday but they they specialize in those prayers you never hear prayers like forgive me lord wash me lord wash me with hyssop no kill him a lot of mercy cause a lightning to strike him angry angry angry angry angry angry we can't trust you to pray for other people when all of that is in there so take your anger and your frustration to the lord so that you can really be an intercessor you can stand on behalf lifting up holy hands and let me tell you something one of the biggest reasons why most of our men are behind bars is because of anger we say it's because of them being black or because of them being poor hear me it's because of anger and if christian men can get past their anger they'll be most dangerous to the kingdom of hell did you hear what i'm saying there are lots of reasons why you should be angry there's lots of reason you can justify why you should be angry because so many things come against you but as a man of god and a woman of god when the throne of god is open to you and the grace of god is there for you if you can get in that secret place and pray and intercede past your disappointment your anger your oppression you become a danger you become a threat to the kingdom of hell come on man he said pastor yourself that's what god is looking for he's looking for that kind of resolve not hand hand over fist we know how to use the fists we know how to do all of that but this my god it takes a point of surrender and when you do that you're most dangerous you're most powerful and the thing that one thing i'm i don't know i take notes it says as you lift up hands not perfect you are being he is perfecting you with his holiness what what when you do this well you know i don't feel like raising my hand because you know i did so and so and i said so and so raise it high raise it high as a matter the more you made a fool of yourself raise it all the way up because as you worship him he what he perfects your holiness take the example of isaiah isaiah said he in in the year that king all of that i'm a man with unclean mouth how many of us would raise our hand and say that how many of us in praise and worship would raise it takes some it takes a big man to say that it takes a man and the and his mouth switched here am i ain't no more cuts in there listen to me don't shortchange yourself don't follow the world the world has their own definition of manhood this is god's definition of your manhood like this not to the man for handcuffs but to the god of heaven here i am with all of my frailties and faults and my mistakes and my hang-ups and my predispositions and my predilection and my areas of weaknesses but my hands are straight up and when you get through with me the perfection of his holiness will pursue me and overtake me and when he gets through you're ready now for 64 years isaiah preached anybody paid him any mind but he kept on preaching you can't mess with a man who has been under the influence of the holy ghost you get listen he's a dangerous creature he's a force to be reckoned with and that's what the world fears that's what the enemy fears that's what he doesn't expect he expects you to come to church and fake it and go through performance and all of that stuff and look this way and look that way but he doesn't expect you to get to keep it real he doesn't expect you to walk away with the stuff hiya my god walk away with the stuff see when you walk away with the stuff you can walk into any situations and any situation and when you walk in they'll know this man has been with the lord they may not be able to say that but they know something and it's not because you know you you got it all together and you sit down and you you know you have to open your mouth just the presence of the lord just your posture your posture
