hallelujah glory to god thank you so much thank you so much pasadena and overseer for that wonderful wonderful praise and worship session amen it's not just a session it's supposed to inspire us amen to prepare us to receive the word of the lord i thank you all for coming back tonight amen this we started our men's revival since sunday night we started off with pastor brian um talking about hands over fists and then on tuesday night we had um a monday night rather we had minister joshua thomas talking about position yourself position yourself and then last night we had deacon joseph osborne and minister stephen locke and and deacon osborne talking to us about loving praying and loving that if we think that we have something going on with our brother that's not right or our sister we should straighten it out and then come to the altar and lift up holy hands and then of course minister stephen locke went through the hall of fame of prayer warriors people in the bible like hezekiah and daniel and ezekiel and of course jesus christ himself who prayed who prayed and got their prayers answered and he talked about simple people ordinary people that's what he meant ordinary people getting extra ordinary results because of prayer i think we've had a marvelous marvelous marvelous gathering i just want to encourage you this is a season with the covid and so many things out of kilter the whole world is out of kilter the weather is out of kilter economy out of kilter every every facet of our life seemingly is out of kilter and it is so easy it is so easy to get weary you're not a sinner because you're weary these are weary sometimes weary sometimes and it takes a lot of stamina to hang in there but guess what you have the ability to do so the holy spirit gave you and me the ability to endure for the race is not given to the swift neither the battle to the strong but it's for those who can endure now when when there's a storm if you i'm sure if you've watched the storm if you've ever been in a storm or an earthquake i remember as a little girl in jamaica i experienced an earthquake it wasn't a devastating one but it was an earthquake but when you have a storm or an earthquake when things have turned upside down you don't know you don't know what you have left but after you comb through all of it there's some things that remain it may be just a picture frame it may be the bed but not everything is swallowed up and the church is going through a great shifting and a storm and so many things are happening but look there are some things that have remained and some people are still standing like yourself isn't it amazing that the wind will blow and the storm will rise but you're still standing so thank the lord today that if you're standing today you have the ability to stand tomorrow you have the ability to stand next week if your life is spared because the race is not given to how fast you run there are lots of people that are running fast watch people who run the 50 yard and 100 meter and all of that they pace themselves you know what i'm saying many of you are athlete are athletes and you know you don't start off you pace yourself and you begin to see what is going to get you to the finish line other people are passing you you can't look at that other people dropped out can't look at that because if you look at that you'll lose your stride oh my god oh my god don't you don't lose your stride tonight take your eyes off what's around you or who is around you and just keep that pace so you know i'm getting weary the runners get weary too but they take a second wind and especially when you're almost at the end it seems like it gets worse but just go all the way because the race is not given to the swift nor the battle to the strong how strong their praise in the lord how how strong they're preaching how strong how strong how strong ah but check me five years from now oh my god but it's for those who endure to the end i think one of the most encouraging things is to see the saints of olds people like my mother and other people who praise god all the way to the end yes it is possible to live a long time and serve god all that time and go all the way i said it is possible so take a second win tonight come on i don't know what kind of day you've had i don't know what's what the enemy is putting on you but take a second win and don't don't give in holding hold my father you say sit up sit up you don't have anybody in here with any bent over back sit up let me sit up at the table well sit up and take a second win and say god i can make it just another day just another night come on raise your hand i want you to be encouraged tonight amen i want you to know that you can go all the way with the lord amen and trials will come and tries will go but you will be still standing amen amen they that trust in the lord shall be like mount zion that shall not be what moved come on and praise god say this is how you make it this is how you make it you shake off the tiredness you shake off the discouragement you shake off what you've heard you shake off for what even see and you raise your hand in this service and say lord i thank you you're giving me strength to go all the way amen thank the lord thank you for being here tonight again and we're getting ready to hear from our speaker but before that if you have an offering i want you to give it a certain kind of way i want you to give it with a cheerful spirit amen i don't want you to feel like it's a pain it's an obligation because if that's so the lord won't receive it but we want the lord to receive our offerings amen so i want you to give it right now with the right kind of attitude so what i don't have a lot of money i didn't say we were asking for i didn't act i didn't have no thousand dollar line tonight and no five dollars or no you know 250. you know what i'm saying no no no whatever the lord has given you to give and if you see fit to give to this church please do so right now with a cheerful spirit god bless you you have to unmute yourself pasadena oh you are [Music] my disciples [Music] you are my disciples by the love that you show in demonstration the love that you give in operation this love this love must be a reflection of god [Music] by the shallow know you are my disciples [Music] by the shell oh no you are my disciples by the shallow you are my disciples by the love that you show and demonstration the love that you give in operation this love this love must be a reflection of god [Music] amen thank you so much thank you thank you thank you just stretch out your hand and just say i love you i love you i love you amen you don't have to have any you know looking for somebody specific just just throw it out there amen because we're in the body of christ amen and this is how people know that we're his disciples by the love that we show praise the lord amen we do have a speaker tonight but before the speaker comes we have the samanic solo by reverend karisteen scott and immediately after that the sermon will be delivered to us by reverend anthony jackson god bless you [Music] amazing grace shall always be my song of grace for it was grace [Music] that bought my liberty i do not know [Music] just why he came to love me so he looked beyond my fault and so my need [Music] i shall forever burn lift my eyes to [Music] to view the cross where jesus died for me how marvelous [Laughter] the grace that caught my falling so he looked beyond [Music] my fault and so my needs [Music] grace [Music] shall always be my song of praise for it was god's grace that brought my liver tea i do not know just why he came to love me so he looked beyond my fault and so my knees i shall forever [Applause] [Music] [Music] to view the cross where jesus died for me [Music] the grace that caught my so he looked beyond my fault and so my knees [Music] oh y'all can give god a hand clap if i can just get you thank you again for participating in our men's revival um the men's revival for the week the theme is men lifting up holy hands and the scripture for tonight is coming from first timothy chapter two verse eight if you would be so kind to turn your bibles to first timothy chapter two verse eight i also thank all the men that have came before me and the wonderful words of encouragement and the preaching and the teaching of the word that would carry us all through the week we're reading tonight our scriptures coming from first timothy chapter 2 verse 8 i would read it in your hearing here begins the reading of god's holy word i will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting so far the texts in my studies i found an article online and i took some excerpts from the article because i thought it would be relevant to the sermon tonight it came from everydayhealth.com one of the authors is dr samuel mckenzie the article is titled cognitive dissonance cognitive dissonance the theory describes the tension that occurs when your beliefs and behaviors don't match up and the conflict arises when your beliefs and actions don't match up you may not be familiar with the term cognitive dissonance but it's the words psychologists use to describe a phenomenon that you likely encounter regularly if not daily we humans probably always have though it wasn't until the 1950s that the social psychologist leon festinger outlined his theory and named it since then it's become one of the most influential theories in psychology cognitive dissonance is basically this phenomenon whereby we have a natural drive for consistency and that our belief system must be consistent with itself and it must be consistent with our actions but that consistency doesn't always happen and distress can arise as a result festinger original premise was that humans prefer to live in a stable world in which beliefs are consistent with one another and actions align with beliefs so when you fall out of that perfect harmony and either think or act in opposition to your belief system tensions build up and you become distressed that distress is called dissonance the theory further suggests that present actions can influence subsequent beliefs and values but our beliefs and values should determine our actions not the other way around right but if we accept that our beliefs our values can influence our actions and that our actions can influence our beliefs our values that helps explain a lot of very common human tendencies like our tendency to rationalize or justify behavior or the way our beliefs and values change as we navigate through situations in life and that common human pitfall hypocrisy it's a universal feeling that all humans have to deal with cognitive dissonance is a common to everyone as we encounter different decisions and experiences in our lives that may challenge our existing belief systems or contradict some of our current behaviors my title for tonight the theme is men lifting up holy hands but my sub topic is my faith determines my behavior before that i was thinking about my belief system determines my behavior the apostle paul wrote this letter to a son in the faith timothy in the mid 60s a.d probably during a missionary trip first timothy is considered one of the pastoral pistols together with second timothy in the book of titus the purpose of the letters is to instruct admonish and direct the recipients in their pastoral office and to give advice on matters of church government and discipline paul expresses the major theme of all three letters in first timothy 3 14 through 15. he begins the reading of god's holy work these things write i unto thee hoping to come unto thee shortly but if i tarry long that thou mayest know how thou ought is to behave thyself and the house of god which is the church of the living god the pillar and the ground of the truth so far the text paul was concerned and wanted timothy to be aware of one of the issues and the church of ephesus which were false teachers their teaching apparently involved incorrect assumptions about the law you can find that in chapter 1 verse 7 through 11 and not allowing marriage and certain foods to be eaten which you can find in four one through five but paul took into consideration the outcome or the behavior exemplified as a result of false teaching for example it leads to arrogance and pride which you can see in chapter six three to four and greed in chapter six five to ten it promotes mere theories or rational thinking over solid truth one of the repeated and stressed things in first timothy is the tight connection between belief and behavior or teaching and practice sound or healthy teaching leads to godliness while false teaching is unproductive and damaging to the believer's life so are the concern for the believer paul writes to timothy and chapter one three through four and he says and it states as i urge you when i was going to macedonia remain at ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies which promote speculations rather than stewardship from god that is by faith paul was aware of the fact that they were carnal professors and judaizing christians that were looking for status and titles as they wanted to be called the rabbi so during those days preaching the gospel was treated with contempt it was it was treated with disdain it was treated beneath consideration it was worthless and instead they were seeking to be popular and gain the applause of the people by showcasing their talents and expounding on the law and the ability to interpret the law the goal was not necessarily to get rid of the gospel but to just blend it it's called secretism blending the truth with error paul said expose and instruct those persons not to teach strange doctrines nor pay attention to foolishness that gives rise to more questions than answers and meaningless arguments rather than advancing god's program of instruction see that's the purpose of the gospel and that's what we have to consider when we're starting to hear certain type of teaching or even false pastors or preachers or evangelists are we preaching and teaching something that's advancing god's program of instruction which is grounded in faith and requires certain listen to this requires surrendering the entire self not part of yourself not a little bit not surrendering yourself to god on sunday or wednesday and friday when you have bible study but surrendering the entire self to god and absolute trust and confidence false teaching is causing havoc in the church but let me tell you something it's not always just the false teachers and the preachers it's not always just people um allowing themselves to sit at the feet of people who really don't want to hear the gospel anymore and they're trying to appease to people with itchy ears because we all got some sort of itchy is going on where we have certain things that we want to hear during a certain period of time and you know we have to be sensitive to that because sometimes we're going through a little something some and you want to hear that you're going to prosper you want to hear that everything is going to be on but false teaching doesn't only come in the package of people teaching something a little different a little blended with the gospel but sometimes false teaching comes through tradition it's a belief of behavior passed down from one generation to another you know we get ourselves in situation and our traditional thoughts become false teaching when we're ministering to ourselves not people ministering to us false teaching through tradition y'all know some of the traditions that that we've that we've carried down throughout the years i heard somebody say to me one time that they were taught that you should never buy a man's shoes or he'll walk out on you in those same shoes but what if the man don't have no shoes and they need to go on a job interview you're not going to buy him shoes tradition there's a tradition that people say my money is my money and yours is yours and it's not always women that say that too because a lot of times it was men saying that because they were spending their credit card doing things that they should not be doing and they didn't want anybody checking up on them or a woman feeling like you know your money is mine and mine is mine but that's not what the bible teaches never another man know how much money you got listen the bible teaches us that we're supposed to leave and cleave and become one how can we glorify god and walk in godliness when we allow these type of traditions to take hold of our thoughts to take all of our behavior because my belief system is what reflects my behavior it's what determines my behavior but the word of god says these people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me they worship me in vain why because they teach the doctrine of the precepts of men we allow the tradition of men to make the word of god null and void false teaching is not always happening in the church over the pulpit sometimes depending on the situation that we're going through we get false teaching from self oh yeah just some some self teaching going on some self counseling doing them you know why because of the experiences that we have accumulated in history and time the things that you know when you go to a computer when you go through a computer and you go on to a website the computer has something that's called cookies so what happens is those websites are saved on that computer so anytime you go back on the computer and you just type in a little word it'll automatically go back to where you just so some of y'all need to be real careful about the things that you go on to on your computer because somebody might be watching it might not be something that you want somebody to see but that's a sabbah but when we go on to the computer because it remembers the history because it has cookies in it all it takes is a a letter a word and it'll refer back and that's what we're like because of our experiences because of our history that we've accumulated because of the thoughts that we have we allow ourselves to be offered a better solution outside of the word of god because of what we've gone through we feel comfortable with counseling ourselves y'all know what that sounds like we refuse the instructions and the fluence of god i'm living my truth i'm living my truth but let me tell you something covet has come to expose those that are living the truth they come to expose our weak the covet virus comes to expose the body and the weakness of the body and break down the major organs and i'm telling you there's something about this covet virus that has come to expose our relationship with god and the teachings that we're listening to the tradition and the self chatter we're exposed and we're being seen for the relationship that we have or do not have with god and as a result we have instability in our homes we have instability in our marriages we have instability at work instability in our church life instability and relationships alone paul said in first timothy one and five now the end of the commandment is charity and out of a pure heart and of a good conscience and a faith unfined what is he saying now the purpose of this instruction is that all believers would be filled with love this is the answer not love uncontaminated with self-interest see that's the culprit right there the covet came to expose all of our self-interests and the things that we wanted to do and been wanting to do willing to walk away from god because we had a counterfeit faith faith without hypocrisy is what we want a life open to god and as a result of not living our own truth we will have a relationship that is pleasing to god and our behavior will reflect our belief system but instead a lot of the saints are shipwrecked we're off doing our own thing struggling and going through for numerous amount of reasons but the bible has a remedy paul said in first timothy 1 18 this i charge and commit unto thee son timothy according to the prophecies which went before on thee that thou be them mightest that thou by them minus war a good warfare holding faith in good conscience which some having put away concerning faith have made a shipwreck so he's telling timothy the pastor the leader i'm trying to tell all leaders hold on because i know it's rough these times people are just drifting away shipwreck going out doing their own thing and sometimes it's not just going away because of our own self chatter going away because of our own tradition it's christians in the ears of other christians and that's why the bible says hermeneutics and alexander he left them to save because we have a tendency to even talk to people that's taken us off our course but because of the prophetic utterance that timothy received because of the laying of hands paul is telling them to remember what happened to you and as a result hold on to your faith what he's saying is hold on to it tight hold it in your head he he's almost telling like wear it like tight clothing and have a good conscious a soul that's conscious of sin a soulless mindful of noble origin a soulless distinguishing between what is morally good and what's morally bad so that you won't be even one of the ones that's shipper so we have a lot of things that shipwreck in us in the church we have false teachers that ship reckons we have traditions that shipwreck in us we have our own selves in self chatter and self counseling even sometimes it's our christian brothers and sisters what is the remedy when we look at first timothy two and one you see that paul was speaking and continuing the conversation by saying i exalt therefore that first of all by for all that supplication prayers and intercession and the giving of thanks be made for all men for the kings for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life and all godliness and honesty not only were they going through false teaching in their own issues the government presumably these first century rulers had the power to make life difficult and disruptive for christians so paul urges the christians to do what to pray now i know y'all don't want to hear that tonight no no no they they told me to pray they're always telling me to pray just just pray just just go off in the corner and pray pray pray i've been praying for two years i've been praying i don't see nothing happen just pray just pray just pray and i know sometimes you know with especially with the government you know they just going around and and and authorities and rulers killing young black men for no reason at all hard to get jobs for young black men which is a set up by the enemy so we can't take care of our families all kinds of laws being put in place as we speak now they're stopping a certain group of people from voting putting things in law always making it uncomfortable for us but the answer is prayer the bible says prayer if my belief system determines my behavior and the bible says when you're going through all these challenges that you should pray so that you may lead a quiet and peaceable life not only that but exemplify godliness and honesty then prayer is the answer i can stop the sermon right now the question is are you praying are you really spending the time do you believe that prayer is the answer or have you allowed yourself to listen to too much self-chatter tradition and false teachers that you don't believe prayer is really the answer prayer is the only way that people are going to receive the truth prayer is the only way that people are going to know who christ is prayer is the only way that's going to get the authorities and the kings and all men to get back on track but when we go to our text i see it in first timothy second two and 2-8 paul goes back and says i will therefore so now he's referring back to the conversation that he had again he continues to do this and when he says that he said i will therefore that men pray not now i got a problem i i sat here and i preached to you and and i taught you to pray and i know you've heard pray and you heard her pray and you had pray and now here is paul he just told us to pray and now he's telling us to pray again so i asked to text questions why did you just tell me to pray and you even explained how to pray through supplication intercession and giving things and then you come right back again and tell me to pray again is it really the same prayer that you want me to pray now i know the bible says to pray without ceasing but in the midst of all these trials and tribulations and things that's going on i really don't feel like praying for people all over again i don't want to give thanks to god and wait for men to change i need something more than that i know that's what we're saying sometimes i know that's what the men are saying because we're struggling we got to take care of our families we got to work every day and these work environments are not working for us they're not making it easy just like the government is not me so paul you're telling me you just explained to me to pray with supplications intercession and giving thanks and now you want to come back again and tell me to pray again so after investigation i looked it up and i found out the prayer and two and eight it's not the same prayer in two and one it's not to say i thought it was the same it's not the same i was hoping paul was giving me something different because of my belief system i was willing to pray in the beginning but after that i was still left some kind of way if truth be told i came up off my knees for praying for people looking for change and believing and trusting god for change but something is still missing and paul comes back and say pray again pray now the prayer in two and eight is different from prayer and two and one so the prayer in two and eight we need before we even pray and two and one so we have to pray so that we can pray for all men in order for us to lead a quiet and peaceable life and all godliness and honesty yeah yeah yeah we have to pray before we pray oh i see someone saw me i didn't get that okay so let me let me see my wife might ask me to pay for gabby to get some fruits and snacks so that she can have lunch when she goes to school and as a result of my obedience when i purchase the items i know i'll be able to leave a peaceable y'all know what i'm talking as long as i follow and do what she told me to do we have some peace in this home but now when you look into it but if i don't go to work this week so i can have money in the bank to pay for the snacks then there won't be no snacks and there won't be no peace why because there's no deposit that will allow me to have the opportunity to get a withdrawal to pay for what i need to pay for okay i got to go i'm just going to go a little bit i'm not trying to be deep on this i really i really need you to understand this now the prayer in 2 8 is a strong's number g 4 3 3 6. it's called pros okay the prayer and two and one is four three three five it's called possible okay okay now process means prayer and process okay means prayer but the difference here is process okay in 2 1 is born out of prostate command meaning that the prayer in two and eight is the root word of prayer and the prayer in two and one comes from the root word and two and eight so without two and eight you don't have a two in one all right let me show you a little more when i looked up the word in the greek for two and one it said that it's a noun accusative plural what that means is that when the plural noun is the direct object in the sentence so and two in one is telling me that i'm praying for people places and things and we can see that in the text it says prayer with supplication that means petition request you want to request something from god we're praying we're addressing it to god for intercession for people for all men for kings for authorities and i like this word intercession you have to be careful when you say you're interceding for people because what it really means is that i'm standing in the gap for you that's why you got to be leery of people when you hear them talking about somebody but they said but you know i'm interested you can't intercede for somebody and talk about them too and gossip about them too because when you're interceding what it means is that you're falling in with them you're standing in the gap for them you've been interviewed you conversed with god and he has conversed with you and communicated so that you can have information and while you're interceding you've got to be feeling something for this person intercessors don't sleep at night you can't just easily intercede and not be attached or feel some kind of weight and after you intercede you're giving thanks so this prayer here is a now where you're praying for people places and things what are you praying for people that's for all men kings and authorities and places kings and authorities is in high places and the thing is that they receive the truth of god why so that at some point they receive the truth they receive the god god because um god wishes that all men be saved but as a result we will lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty that's the in two and one innocent now now the prayer in two and eight it's not the same prayer no it's not the prayer in 2008 is the root word for prayer now i can't do all of that unless i do this there is no praying for man and supplication intercession and giving things if i don't have prospective because this is the root word for prayer now this word is not a noun this word is a verb in the present and middle my god so what does that mean the person is performing and receiving an action that occurs immediately so what is paul saying in this one paul is saying i will therefore that men worship everywhere welcome so so so you mean to tell me he's not telling you to pray the same way he's telling you to pray in two on one no what he's saying is this is a verb present middle that the person is performing and receiving action that occurs immediately so what's going on is he's worshiping and while he's worshiping he's performing and because he's connecting with god he's receiving and it's happening immediately so now i understand why paul told me to pray again because the root word for prayer of worship is what i need in order to pray for other people in high places to receive the truth without my worship there is no prayer without my worship i'm not gonna even care nothing about nobody else without my worship it's gonna be self-interest and my love will be contaminated and my belief system won't have anything to do with god so when he says pray i will therefore that men pray every what he's saying is i need you to worship because if you worship then i can trust you to pray if you worship you'll pray for your sister that's going through if you worship you'll pray for your enemy if you worship you'll pray for those that are in your job if you worship you'll pray for your husband if you worship you'll pray for your wife but if you don't worship it'll be hard for you to do any kind of praying oh god and if i worship then god will give me what i need to continue to fight the good fight of faith reverend jackson remember when he laid hands on you and the prophetic word of utterance where god called you to fight but i'm telling you without the worship without paul reiterating that this is the root word for prayer and because of this worship you have the ability to because of this worship you can stand strong because of this worship you won't find yourself shipwrecked because of this world so what is the worship like this worship is to converse with god now i told you that it's performing and receiving an action well it's it's really so it's so deep because what you get from god you're going to get immediately why because is to have intercourse with your soul with god that means to allow everything about you to be connected to god and then what will happen when you're connected to god in worship when you're surrendering yourself to god in worship prayer was presupposed a belief in the personality of yourself so that you may be able to receive the personality and the mindset that god wants you to have you'll be willing to do whatever he wants you to do if you're not willing tonight could it be because you're not worshiping i realize that pastor has a tendency that when she comes on zoom she makes it her business to make sure that people worship in worship you start to realize that god is in control of his creatures in his earth but most important you pour out your soul before the lord you say here i am god and there's something about pouring out your soul and pouring out your pain and pouring out your hurt that god gives back to you the healing that is needed the wholeness that you need the encouragement that is me the fortitude the strength that is needed the problem is we're trying to do it in ourselves we need to take a a note from hannah hannah prayed so deep that the bible says that her heart was speaking to god and her lips was not moving eli thought she was drunk drunk like a skunk because of the posture and because of what was going on the bible says in first sentence samuel first samuel 1 and 15 it says but hannah answered no my lord i am a woman troubled in spirit i have drunk neither wine nor strong drink but have been pouring out my soul before the lord that's that's worship right there that's worship drawing near to god the bible says but it is good for me to draw near to god i have put my trust in the lord god that i may declare all thy words see i didn't put my trust in him so i could declare my own words i didn't put my trust in him so that i can get my bema i didn't put my trust in them so things would work out the way i wanted my my goal and my desire is that i would do what god wants me to do but i can't do it if i don't worship i can't do it so so so how do the men work lifting holy hands hmm you see you see that's that's how you can tell tonight gives you a description a definition of how you're supposed to worship you know when you're in the city you see people standing out there on the corner and then lifting their hand and they got their hand out because they want a cab to come stop and pick them up and take them listen that's what we need to lift our hands sometime to god ask him to come pick us up from the situation that we're in the ugliness and the hurt and the pain that we're experiencing and move us and take up somewhere else oh god somebody need to be picked up today lift your holy hands you know sometimes i come from work and my daughter runs up to me and she might be feeling some kind of way and she go daddy daddy that and she lifts up her hands because she wants me to pick her up and comfort her and hold her because it gives her a sense that everything is all right and that's what we need to do even as men lift up our hands and ask god to comfort us to hold us and to let us know that everything is going to be all right lifting of hands signifies a posture of surrender y'all know what it's like listen if i walk the streets these days i'm thinking about walking the streets i got pulled over by the cops a little while ago a couple of months ago and when he pulled me over the first thing i did was put my hands in view to let him know what i'm doing how i'm doing it and if i was outside and he said anything wrong to me i would put my hands up why because it's a posture of surrendering all i'm not making any movements unless you tell me to i'm not going to do anything unless you say something we need to treat god like that when we lift up our holy heads and surrendering to god giving all to him the bible talks about moses and how he lifted his hands when he was in battle for amalek and the bible says as long as he kept his hands lifted my god he would win the battle but any time his hands went down they started to look but when he would lift his hands maybe that's why some of us is not winning because we ain't lifting our hands enough if i can just get you to lift your hands when you come into service lift your hands when you walk into your home lift up your hands when you go to work and then it says without anger and doubting not anger is the displeasure of human governance movement and agitation of the soul it has a tendency to make decisions for us and sometimes the decisions are not good decisions because we're angry because the people on the job we're angry because the wife didn't we're angry because the husband we're angry we're angry we're just angry people for so many reasons we're angry especially with code around i'm angry because i'm stuck in a house with this woman every day all day when you should be enjoying let me tell you something the time that we could not go anywhere i was so happy to be home with my wife and my daughter and my home i couldn't tell you how grateful i was to be able to spend that time but was so angry for so many reasons moses acted out in anger the lord told him when the children of israel were complaining that they wanted water god told moses to speak to the rock and it would produce water and he said okay you rebels angry because y'all keep complaining about what he struck the rock twice instead of doing what god told him to do and be obedient to his word and as a result in numbers 20 and 12 it says but the lord said to moses and aaron because you did not trust me see anger don't trust god it acts out his own plan because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of israel you will not lead them into the land i am giving them james 1 20 says for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of god not only was supposed to do it without anger but we need to do it without doubting there's an argument going on inside of us that reflects on the relationships that we have with others and god the doubt shows us that we don't really trust god and because we don't trust god we're fighting god and because we're fighting god we're fighting with others but james 1 8 says a double-minded man received nothing from the one he's unstable in all his ways but tonight i want you to be mindful that our belief system should determine our behavior and if we just take the time to worship we won't be so unstable we won't find ourselves deviating from what we believe because our behavior is not matching up with our belief system but if we worship god if we spend time worshiping god the bible says and this is the confidence confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us commit thy way unto the lord trust also in him and he shall bring it to pass in my conclusion i just want to give you a short story i came home one day and went to sleep and i woke up five o'clock in the morning and there was a pipe burst on my first floor and it flooded out the basement as a result of flooding out the basement i had to get insurance you know people had to fix the walls tap the walls do all the kind of things all of the carpet was ripped up so after they ripped up the carpet i decided you know what i'm going to get something out of this so i decided i'm going to go build a platform i'm going to take the platform and put my chairs and one section of my basement and i'm going to create a movie theater room all i have to do is take some wood build the platform when the carpet people come i'm going to have them take the carpet put it on the platform set up the movie theater room put the tv you know make it all nice so then when i have company or even just for myself i'll go downstairs and i enjoy the movie theater room i was in prayer one day worshiping god giving him my all and i don't know what happened but he dropped it in my spirit and he said you're going to take that area and turn it into a movie theater room and it dawned on me that i forgot that's the same area that i used to go down in the basement and spend time worshiping god but if i take a platform and put chairs there and create a movie theater room there's no room not only was i down there walking and worshiping god in that big square area gabiella was down there dancing with daddy for two hours three hours worshiping god i'm going to take the area that i have put aside to worship god and turn it into a movie theater room the devil is alive paul said that we should worship everywhere we need to create spaces in our heart create spaces in our minds create physical spaces for us to take the time to lift up our holy hands without anger and without doubt and worship god so that our belief system will determine our behavior god bless you thank you my my let's let's let's put our hands together and just thank the lord for this word tonight amen amen come on if you're on in zoom or on social media platforms just take the time out and thank god about behavior and belief belief and behavior now pastor jackson started um reverend jackson started off with cognitive cognitive dissonance and that's a that's a psychological um terminology that they use the psychologists use but to break it down is it simply mean the flesh warrant against the spirit which might save people they use that term to determine other people's issues but in the church the plain truth is the description the biblical description is i am saved and called but i'm running from my sanctification process i've been chosen to serve him but i don't like the way he's making me and because of that what i believe i'm elected selected i'm going to heaven but how i'm living is in conflict because god is calling me to holiness calling me to live up to that standard calling me to take on his likeness and i'm i'm resisting it i want to be worldly i want to be carnal i want to have the name of a christian but i want to live with ain't nothing wrong with that that's what we mean by separating your life from your belief we believe in god we believe he's a lover of our soul we believe he died we believe he's patient and he's long suffering but right now i don't want to take that on so what is a result of that he tells us is anger what's the result of that is misery what's the result of god is doubting so don't expect to be a happy camper you see if you didn't know that you were called if you didn't experience the salvation then you could go on and be miserable and think it's okay and call misery you know just a bad time but because god chose you and because you've been chosen for him he is going to sanctify you he is going to call you he is going to pull you close and if the more you pull away the more you diss him diss him the more you try to diss him is the more difficult your life is that's why the church right now hates their life because they don't like the process of sanctification i want to be worldly don't call don't say that that's don't use those words don't that's a horrible word they will blackball you they will put their ex on you they will have all kinds of names for you on on facebook and all of that stuff because you say worldly you say carnal don't use those words those you are you are minimizing my humanity you're taking away my choices no jesus is saying i called you to be holy and he's right you can't pray for anybody if you're out of sync with him and worship does it ladies and gentlemen worship does it it doesn't mean that we are perfect it just means that we worship him and in the process we become when we worship him even if we don't feel it it's not based on feeling it's based on obedience he tells us all week long they've been telling us just raise your hand what on earth is wrong with that you're sitting there like a stonewall jackson tied up in nuts on the inside you know you don't mind knowledge now you like knowledge well i i gotta go to this other church because you know they give me information you like information but you ain't gonna be vulnerable because you see to be vulnerable you have no weapon to use against other people's emotions see to be vulnerable means that you don't have anything to use to protect yourself to fight for yourself and to get back at people for hurting you you have lost your weapon so that's why you don't want to go deep oh that's why you don't want to hey you don't why you don't want to go there now because there's a certain place in praise where you feel god breaking it down breaking it down breaking it down putting away the props pulling away the excuses pulling away the unforgiveness pulling away pulling away the resentment pulling away the getting even pulling away the revenge you don't want to let that that's that's the thing that fuels you your revenge holding somebody's hostage has been your strength but you want knowledge you want to be able to teach it and preach it you want to be able to impact other people's lives but don't go up under that don't pull away the thing that has made me survive when god says i came to give you life the thief came to steal to kill and to destroy but i came and that's why you're still miserable in church miserable and then you leave one church you go to another and then you leave all churches and you go somewhere else because you don't want you don't want that hey god hey my soul loves you hey jesus my soul wanted to say thank you oh god i just want to thank you that you brought me from a long ways off i just want to tell you ah that without you it can do not listen you got to get get on up in there and then ain't old school that's how they prayed why hath they even raised come on look at all the prayers that ezra prayed and the other people prayed they go down in it they even asked forgiveness for their mama and their daddy say our forefathers sinned against you help us that it doesn't travel across a generation of lines they go all the way we we just want information so we so we could articulate and sound a certain way or change it to a certain way but what he wants is your heart what he wants is for your needs to be met so that you can reach out and touch somebody else you see what i'm saying so this is why this is why people don't like to do this it's too painful it's too painful and and to let go of the pain is to be too helpless you ain't you ain't getting to fight with now you got no reason to complain to fuss make demands or appear to be a victim you lost all of that because you're totally dependent on the lord so i'm i'm telling you now it's a choice thank you every jackson it is a choice it is a choice either we're going to do a bad prayer that makes us vulnerable that heals our wounds and drive away our fears and touch the parts of us that we don't want to touch and you know allow stuff to go down in there and clean it up and cut it out right in prayer break down tear down shatter the broken and the contrite heart i will not be i will not despise come on when you come to me you come clean you come clean you come clean and then all of a sudden the faith and the resolve come together and now you begin to see a different attitude a different take on the subject a different response to people but if you don't get up in that see there's some things we don't want to give up and worship will do it that's why when we feel the holy ghost doing certain things and then after your worship you get up and do what he says now you got followed through now you can see changes because you hear it you gave it up you receive the word as you said you give and you receive and now what he tells you you do it and then you see change well i've been praying for this for a long time i don't see any change no because there were some things you didn't want to do you didn't mind cry you didn't mind studying it was too painful to do ladies and gentlemen i i'm like pastor robin you know i know exactly what it is i i i'm having my own journey i'm talking to you like somebody better what's good for you is good for me i can't keep doing this and not hear something i can't keep worshiping and not receive from him and i can't pray for you proper if i don't allow the lord to dictate my heart because if i have skewed ideas about his holiness i will have strange ideas about your holiness glory to god thank you thank you we just need to come that's why the song is so powerful i surrender all you well you just want us to cry and get emotional no i ain't saying nothing like that because you can cry and still no surrender what i'm saying is that's what he's going to have he's not going to take it any other way he he's he does not respond to hypocrisy he's not going to respond to anything that's not true you know let me let me can i say this to you reverend jackson we're not you know when i pray to the lord and i'm not saying you pray like me but i i talked to him like i would talk to a father that i love and somebody that i know and i would tell him about myself and i don't i don't hide it i tell him you know this is what this is what i want you to help me with because this thing is really hindering me from growing and i tell him i tell him how i behave i tell him what it is i tell him how i respond i tell him what it does to me i tell him what i want to do what thoughts come to my mind and i want out of this because i don't want to be in this place because you can't really be a help to someone else if you are married to that place you have to divorce it so thank you hands lift it up mouthful with phrase heart of thanksgiving i will bless you oh lord you understand i will bless you o lord i will bless you i will bless you o lord with a heart of thanksgiving i will bless you o lord and when i lift up my hands with my hands lifted up and my mouth filled with praise with the heart of thanksgiving i will bless you o lord oh my god oh my god the lord is here to bless us the lord is here to give us what we need this revival didn't come so we could just have an experience he came to minister to some of us in ways that we weren't ministered to last week the year before 10 years ago this could this is another moment this is another moment in time don't let the moment pass because you're afraid you're afraid of giving up that space to him there's a certain space he wants and he wants he wants you to give it to him surrender it to him amen and that's the space that we're afraid lord if i give that up then what do i have left how do i know that i'm going to be all right how do i know that i'm not going to be taken advantage of how do i know that some things won't happen to me again so i i hold that space because that's how i feel safe and we're not safe we're tormented so my attitude is i'd rather give it up because if god before me who can be against me if i got god on my side i want to be vulnerable to him so just raise your hand tonight this is all you know it's all you know it's it's it's all so personal and intimate and it's not always easy to talk about reverend jackson but this is what god is saying this is not a formality if the lord said to you tonight give up something that is very dear to you are you willing to do so that's worship if the lord said to you i want you to go over there and straighten that out and reconcile are you willing to do that it's too painful it's too painful so your belief will be distant from your behavior and that will render you miserable that's all if there's no obedience factor in there expect misery now you got to do something to make yourself feel better you got to do something whether it's a new look or a new place or a new job or a new a new person a new somebody that will not fix it it will not fix it until we obey the lord hey thank you father thank you lord it's time to worship let's raise your hand it's time to worship thank you it's time to worship come on it's time to raise your hand time to give them glory in the old lords i put my trust in the [Music] [Music] i put [Music] my trust in the o lord i put [Music] i put my trust [Music] i'm just encouraging you know if this particular revival is really calling us into consecration and many of us go into consecration like in isaiah 58 you're fasting for the wrong reason but this consecration is about you and god god in you and and somebody out there you're at a crossroad in your life of the and um platform media platform just take a little time in your space a sacred space it's not about the space but it is about the space find a place where you will have uninterrupted time and just sometimes you just have to stretch out on the floor sometimes you just have to walk the and tell the lord like jacob i'm not going to let you go until you bless me i'm not going to let you go until you give me instruction and whatever you say to me i'm ready to do your will i'm i'm just i'm ready to surrender all of my fears my anxiety anything that's been holding me hostage i surrender it and sometimes it takes stretching out it just takes walking it takes just sitting in his presence and surrendering to him no agenda no petition just as one of the members of um league environments a real talk i hear the lord saying to somebody out there on the facebook and youtube stop where you are and take this time and when you come out of it you'll be like isaiah here am i clean me up fix me and i'm ready and you know isaiah's whole life was surrendered to the lord so it comes a time when you have to make that you can't just be in church forever and never come to that point and it'll be a marked point you can always refer to it i remember the day and i remember it well when you came and shifted my life and i was never the same again and i'm walking with you in a way that i can do your bidding i can walk in your in in your in my purpose and i can be effective in my calling that's where he wants to take somebody and i believe if you do it the law will say yes this is what you have to give up this is what you have to let go this is what you have to do you have to stand right here and trust me you have to believe me and you have to know that i am not against you but i am with you i'm talking to somebody out there and i'm praying this word came for somebody tonight having that worship is when you give and when you receive now you can walk out of it and be a blessing to someone else amen great men of god moved in the spirit in great ways and we're saying i wish i could be anointed like that you got to come to that place i wish i could be so-and-so got to come to that place because he wants to release that power in you it is god's willing and god's delight to bring us to that point he is not withholding he is willing to extend himself to you in that way so raise your hand and worship the lord i know it sounds like i'm talking to myself but you know what i just want to go on record hi sia i just want to go on record tonight i just want to go on record that out of this covet people are coming out with a fresh anointing out of this covey people are coming out with a yes that they've never had before out of this kobe there's some people that are getting ready to be you god getting ready to use them in unusual ways because they take off all of the trappings and they're coming to god just like this and i believe that's the only way i'm sorry that's a bible way all the other people in the bible have to do it so i don't know why we have to create a new way for you ain't got nothing to do with 21st century he has to do it that's how god works come on elisha kiss your mama and daddy goodbye i'm getting ready to use you in a new way all right i'm finnish jackson i'm irwin jackson thank you thank you so much thank you thank you listen it ain't about preaching it's about living some of us are itching to preach and itching to do that and itching to sound a certain way an issue it's about living when i get through preaching i have to live this thing and i don't want to preach and be miserable i don't want to be a statistic where they preach and then come out of the pulpit and kill themselves come on i want god to i want that reality in my life how about you wave your hand wave your hand with your hand i want it god i want it bad i'm not afraid anymore i want it but i'm not afraid to die i'm not afraid to go down i'm not afraid to go down because i know if i die now i'm coming up living crucified with christ nevertheless i live yet not i but the christ that liveth within me amen thank you lord thank you so much for joining us we're going to be back here tomorrow night at eight o'clock and we are going to be back listening to the word of god each night we heard the same text but we
