okay welcome back i'm robert breaker and uh we are kind of in a hurricane here little hurricane nicholas is raining real hard outside so i hope the rain isn't too loud but i thought i'd preach on something today that the lord has laid on my heart to talk about not something that i wanted to talk about i was like lord are you sure but a couple days ago lord started reminding me of some verses on this subject on this topic and well this morning i woke up and i had like four or five more verses on my heart and i said okay lord all right i get the picture a lot of times when that happens that's the thing that the lord wants me to speak about and a lot of times the message is to come from the heart not just from the head amen a lot of preachers they preach from the mouth and from the head but you can tell it's not from the heart so i want to preach this from the heart today old preacher told me one time he says good preaching is get up there say everything the lord's laid on your heart and then sit down and shut up so it should come from the heart okay and so hopefully this message will be a blessing to you it is a strange message not something that i talk about often okay i've done about two other messages on something similar to this one of them was on the topic of tithing if you get a chance go to youtube and look up my video on tithing it'll shock you a lot of people nowadays preach tithing and they preach it wrong and i simply just say let's go to every single verse in the bible that talks about tithing let's see what tithing really is and boy it'll shock you do you realize that ten percent is what they call tithing but that was if you gave it of your farm if you gave it in cash there was another fifth added to it so it became more than just 10 hmm interesting right so it's interesting we talked about tithing a lot of people talk about tithing they talk about money they believe tithing is money but there's more that you can tithe your time your energy your prayer a lot of things that god wants from us more than money did another video entitled giving and i talked about what the bible says about giving and now today we're going to talk about this subject money oh boy i can already see my enemies coming out saying oh brother breaker is all about wanting money well i have about 1300 videos on youtube and maybe once or twice i ever asked for a donation or something like that if i even remember right i'm not somebody that asked you for money i'm here to try to help you if god lays it on your heart to return the favor and help me place there's other ways to make a better living but you see i look at this as a calling not a job and so i'm doing what the lord has called me to do and i'm doing my best and i'm getting tired of getting worn out but i still want to go on until the rapture preaching and teaching and talking about what the bible says so the lord laid on my heart of this subject because i get a lot of emails from people saying brother breaker it's tight now it's very tight it's hard to get money um especially with what we're seeing in the world today a lot of people are emailing me and asking what about the economic collapse that's coming you know all over youtube there's these doomsday videos if you will the zombie apocalypse is coming the economic collapse is coming all the well if you believe the bible yeah yeah that's it's going to be really bad in the tribulation and i believe we're very close to that and so yeah yeah these things are coming unfortunately and i i don't i don't like it but it's for those reasons that i thought i'd talk about this so the lord put on my heart to study in the bible about money what does the bible say about money and actually how about this what is money a lot of people think money is something that it's not a lot of people don't even know what money is a lot of people think a bill a piece of paper is money is that really money so what is money and and where does it show up in the bible well the word money is found 140 times in 123 verses in our king james bible so the bible mentions money a lot so it's not something that we can brush aside and not talk about if it's in the bible we should talk about it so i want to tell you what the bible says about money in its proper place and boy did i get a blessing with this study do you know what the very first reference is of money in the bible genesis 17 and boy when i saw this and i read this i just man i almost wanted to shout because this is the first reference have you ever gone through the bible and looked at the first time a word appears and then line it up in other verses that's called the law of first reference and here in genesis 17 and verse 12 and he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you every man child in your generations that he is born in the house now watch this or bought with money of any stranger which is not of thy seed now yes there is slavery in the bible it's something that god has allowed people to do now i don't like it but there was a time when people practice it and it was something they did so the context is of buying someone slavery but that's not why i was excited you know what i was excited about is i thought but a man a man is bought but i thought of my lord and savior jesus christ and what does the bible say he bought me with a price he bought me a man jesus christ decided he would come down from heaven and he would try to purchase and he would shed his blood and the price of my redemption was that blood that he shed so the first mention in the bible of buying was the context of buying a man a man being bought i'm saved i'm a christian you know what i am i'm blood bought through the blood of jesus christ so i am blood bought i just man i just got a blessing right there i just wanted to start shouting and saying well thank god for that so it made me think about the blood of jesus amen and me being purchased by his blood acts 20 28. but i just thought that was interesting so what is money what is money we're going to look at money today and here's the webster's 1828 dictionary you can look it up it's very easy to go to webster's 1828 dictionary on the internet and look up definitions of words and it's a long definition here but the most important thing here was money is coin stamped metal usually gold or silver or copper containing great value in small compass then it continues saying bank notes or bills of credit used by authority and exchangeable for coin so a dollar bill is not money it's to be exchanged for something that is money did you know that if you look at a dollar bill it says that this is a note it's not money it's a bank note that's quite interesting so it says that it's gold silver or copper so i look at this and i go wow so money in the bible is something that has value and it's something that small but has a lot of worth and usually it has something to do with a coin so this is what money is in the bible and it's something to do with are you ready for this value it's something valuable i just find that quite interesting um what more valuable thing is there than the blood of christ and the first time the king james bible uses the term money it's in the context of being bought and it reminds me of the blood of christ that's just wow that was amazing so it has to do with something that's valuable so i looked up the term value what is value value is worth that property of those properties of a thing which render it useful or as steamable or the degree of that property or of such properties the real value of the thing is its utility its power the power and the blood amen or capacity of procuring or producing good hence the real or intrinsic value of something and then it actually says the real or intrinsic value of iron is far greater than that of gold why because you can make some things out of iron that you can use as a utility gold is soft and pliable so in the bible we have the mention of money and the bible talks about what money is and when you look into money you find out money has to do with value and money has to do with intrinsic value and utilitarian value it's got to be something that you can use but it's also something that another person looks at as valuable that they can use and i spelled value wrong didn't i let me fix that real quick value so it's something that's valuable so money is really whatever people think is valuable and in the old days people thought gold and silver was valuable nowadays a lot of people they they don't did you see this thing on youtube i can't remember who it was but one of these videos in youtube this guy went out and he said all right i've got a 10 bill and i've got a gold coin which one do you want and he asked about 10 15 people he says it's a free gift you can take either one and he went through 15 20 people and not one of them took the gold coin worth about two thousand dollars they all grabbed the ten dollar bill and yet the gold coin had more value than the 10 how why do people not understand because we've been brainwashed in our lives and in in this world to think that things that aren't valuable really are valuable and things that are valuable aren't really valuable and they have restructured our thinking but in the old days people understood what value was and what riches were when you start thinking about this you start thinking about riches i actually wore my my tie today with the spanish galleon or the ship on it you know because a lot of people think of the spanish coming to america looking for treasure well when you think about money you think about treasure but what is money money is not the piece of paper money is the thing that has value and usually for 6 000 years it's been gold silver and precious metals but today a lot of people don't want precious metals they say give me the benjamins give me the dead presidents you know they want that bill and that bill's not worth much it's just a piece of paper so i'm thinking about all this and i'm looking at my bible and i'm saying who is the guy in the bible that god says is rich what is the first time in the bible when god says so and so is rich okay we use the word rich who was the first guy in the bible that god said was rich and what is it that god says makes you rich so i go over here and i look at this and in genesis chapter 13 we find the first time that god calls someone rich genesis 13 1 and abram of course this would be abraham went up out of egypt he and his wife and all that he had and lot with him into the south now verse 2 and abram was very rich and then it tells you three things that god views as rich was very rich in gold silver and cattle now do you know gold and silver that's valuable and in those days and even today the people that see true value see that that has worth you can buy whatever you need with that but if you have cattle you know what you have you have meat you have milk and you would have what clothes a lot of our clothes come from leather leather goods a leather belt leather shoes leather this leather that so in god's eye someone that's really rich here on the earth is someone that has gold and silver and cattle in the bible it was an aggregate society god set this thing up in which men were supposed to live on farms and that's another thing that our society has changed they want to get us off the farm and into the city well in the bible when god gave israel the land matter of fact let's start back the very beginning what did god give adam and eve he put them in a garden to dress it and keep it so god really wanted men to be in a place to where they were dependent upon god for the rain they were dependent upon god for for the crops to grow and they they lived in a society where they were working outside by the sweat of their brow and that they had a farm and they kept cattle and they kept things like this this was the way that god originally intended it and then when god gave the land to israel there were three feasts that they were to keep in jerusalem so every one of the families of all the different tribes were to come and they had a house in jerusalem so they lived in the country but they had a house in the city and they would go back and forth but most of the time they spent their time and they're living on the farm i just find that interesting so gold silver cattle you keep cattle then you can sell that sell the meat sell the milk sell the clothes to get money gold and silver so in the bible we see god had a system in which he set it up okay and money throughout history has been gold and silver and it's because it's valuable now here's another thing that a lot of people don't think about but do you realize that it has something to do with health we're living in a health crisis today a lot of people are getting sick all throughout society and i wonder why but did you know there's a thing called colloidal silver there's also a thing called colloidal gold and that's taking gold that's taking silver and that's using a process of electrolysis i believe it is putting in positive negative on something that is gold or silver and in water the particles come off and silver is a very good antiseptic okay it's very good for helping your body and gold as well so if you have gold and silver as money and you're using that daily and you you're purchasing things then you have it in your fingers you have it in your hand and you're buying and you're selling with gold and silver and you know you can actually absorb things into your fingers into your body and so my thought is man when people use gold and silver coin i wonder if they weren't healthier because the gold and the silver is rubbing off in their hands and being absorbed to their body and has something to do with fighting disease and sickness and i wonder if maybe that wasn't what made them healthier back then using real gold and real silver day to day i met a guy one time when i used to work at pigley wiggly all right it's a grocery store pygmy wiggly and i used to work at pig the wiggly and this guy came in one time and he's purchasing something he pulls out of his pocket some change he had this big round silver disc and it was just as smooth as it could be and i said sir what is that he said oh that he said i've carried this in my pocket for 30 years he said that's a silver dollar he says every day i just do this with it a couple times a day just rub it just rub it i said why he says i'm rubbing that silver off into my body and he had rubbed that thing so much for 30 years that it was completely shiny on both sides and there was nothing no pattern no nothing it was complete shiny he'd rubbed off the silver i said man that's kind of cool mister he said yeah just remember silver is good for your body and you need to absorb that i always thought that was so cool so yet today what have they done well in 1933 in america they said we're outlawing gold you can't have gold anymore and they took us off the gold standard before that you would have bills that said payable on demand by gold a bill was not a dollar it was a note to go get the money which was gold 1933 our government said no you can't have gold anymore and that that stayed in effect until when was it 1984 or something like that i forget the exact date maybe it was 86. yeah i think it was 86 that ronald reagan said no you can have gold you can have silver and people begin to buy gold and silver and they actually begin to mint gold and silver coins but did you know in 1933 they said no no gold gold is a type of heaven maybe that's one of the reasons why it's so valuable because when we're saved that's where we go we go up to heaven where there's streets of gold and mansions of pure gold so gold is a type of heaven so god allowed men down here to have something valuable and to god gold is valuable because it reminds him of heaven and it should be valuable to us because we know there's gold in heaven but what did they do they got rid of gold in our country and it's sad and so what did they do they said nah only silver and they put us on a silver standard do you remember what's called a silver certificate it was a dollar and it says payable on demand in silver coin and you would go get a silver dollar with that one bill see they made bills to make it easier to carry because gold and silver is heavy the bills were never the money the money is the gold and silver and the copper and other things but what did they do they said no no we don't want uh based upon gold and silver we're going to change all this and we're going to change it down here to paper paper and they said the paper is the money but it's not it's a note it's a bank note that's what paper is it's not money it's a bank note but because people think it's money people want that piece of paper what good is a piece of paper did you know that a piece of paper can burn did you know that you can burn a piece of paper it can burn but you know you can't burn gold or silver let's say you have gold and silver money and your house burns down well you still have that money now it's probably melted a little but you take this to the sayer is what they're called and they purify they bring they can give it back to you and you didn't lose anything but if you have a piece of paper and it burns up you got nothing so they've been actively changing the money and the money system and then that wasn't bad enough they went to plastic now what i see through all this and it really bothers me and you know what plastic burns matter of fact plastic comes from oil did you know that plastic comes from the ground and it comes from oil underground that's what plastic is made from from oil and oil burns did you know that so what have they done in our world in our world they have taken what god gave as money gold a type of heaven you know silver is a type of redemption by the way redemption in the bible silver is a type of redemption but gold and silver they're good for our health it's good to be touching those and holding those it's good to even be getting that into our body through colloidal silver now don't overdo it and drink so much colloidal silver that you turn into the blue man which is on youtube look up the blue man the guy supposedly drank colloidal silver all his life turned his skin blue and you don't want that but there's a lot to be said for colloidal silver being able to do something to to help your body and be used as an antiseptic is to fight to fight disease so we look at money and it reminds us of heaven but then we look at how man has degraded money and changed it and made money into what a credit card a plastic credit card and what is a credit card a credit card is a piece of plastic right and in that plastic usually guess what's there in that piece of plastic there's a chip and there's this little chip right here and what's chip made out of the chip is made of silicone and what is silicone dirt so back to the ground so they have taken the economic system of the world and using real money and reminding us of heaven and they have changed it take it away from us taking us away from us given us something else substitute to where now many people think money is my credit card and i go buy something and what is it made from something that comes from under the ground that burns so from heaven to hell if you think about it where is hell center the earth under the ground and it burns so our economic system in this world has been destroyed from carrying around in our pockets little pieces of heaven to now we're based upon an economic system where man's messed it up so much that it just all reminds us of hell and you know what is worse nowadays it's all going to digital it's all going to a computer to where nowadays they say money is on the chip and they say money is all the little digits well then we have a problem where does money come from click click click click click boom you got money that was easy you see the reason that gold and silver and copper had this value this intrinsical value is because it took a lot of time and a lot of effort and a lot of energy to get them and dig them up finding gold finding silver a lot of work involved that's why they were so valuable because of all the work involved well now they have degenerated our our money system to where now it doesn't take a lot of work if some guy knows how to hack something he can just go click the click and make himself a lot of money why because there's two digits there's one and then there's zero now which would you rather have would you rather have zero one or would you rather have one zero if i came to you and i said all right which one you want zero one or one zero you would probably go well i want ten i want ten ten is more than than one so give me the ten but what is the difference nothing it's just i move the zero from one side to another so i come over to you and i say now here's one and i say you know what i'm gonna give you two zeros boom boom i added nothing right zero means nothing now you've got a hundred so you know what i'm just gonna throw you out there a couple more zeros boom boom boom boom and and they have made it into money becoming something that is so easy to make it's just a whole bunch of zeros after a number in a computer and there's not a lot of effort involved this leads us to what we call today cyber currency or crypto crypto currency and cryptocurrency is money being made by a computer you can do mining bitcoin mining where the computer does all the work and it makes through some sort of encryption what they say is money but what is it's just digits it's not something tangible in your hand like the bible says money is so isn't that odd have you ever thought about these things true real money is something that is valuable and that you can utilize that you can use how do you use numbers in a computer you can't even get those out you can't touch those unless someone has a computer uh it it's just a weird messed up system and it's a system that really only works with electronics only through electronics can you use this system because it's based upon that ship what happens if an emp pulse goes off or what happens if something like a solar flow happens and all the electrical all over the world is destroyed and there's no electricity anymore and you go up to the grocery store you say i got my credit card please please i'm sorry our system is down you can't buy or sell with that but if you came and you had a little piece of silver a little piece of gold if people knew that that was worth something nowadays people don't think that gold and silver is worth anything they think that's only things worth something is that little piece of plastic in that wild so they have reversed everything from the way that it's supposed to be i remember going to a pawn shop here not too many years ago walked in the pawn shop and the man was there talking to this couple and he had there on the counter a box open and in that box he had a how do i say this nicely a pow pow and he had a whole bunch of silver dimes and i looked at that and i looked at him and i looked at them i said what's going on here man what's the deal with the silver dimes and and with the pow-pow and he says well i'm just explaining to these people that that the you know the world's going to end one day and economy is going to crash because all it takes is electronics to go out and that's the end of your money how do you access a chip without a computer a database you can't and he says this is my own personal thing here but this is in case the world ends i got my little thing here and then i've got some silver dimes that i use for trading he says i just grab this box and i go to my bug out location and i'm good and those who know know that silver is worth something well they'll trade with me or something and if someone comes after me and tries to steal or hurt me or whatever he says i got my protection but isn't that interesting money now has been made into something that's worthless paper plastic and is now made into something that can be manipulated can be hijacked through electronic means those who know how to hack cyber currency will be the money of the future and cyber currency will be the money that allows the economic collapse to come because like i said once electronics are shut down where's the money unless of course they put it inside of you through some sort of chip and matter of fact you know the devil is behind that you know the devil is a banker let me show you something let's go to revelation chapter 13 do you realize the person behind all this is the devil the person behind changing all the money in the world has to be satan because he was cast out of heaven and every time he looks at a piece of gold he's reminded of the place that he can't be and so he hates that he wants to change the economic system to remind him of where he's going to end up oh by the way i didn't even get to explain this do you realize that because they took us off the gold standard and off the silver standard that they put us on a different standard called the opec standard i believe that was richard nixon and he put us on a standard of oil well guess what the whole world came together with this oil thing and uh guess what now our dollar is backed by oil well guess what we were self-sufficient in oil in this country we didn't have to rely on other countries now we're not and now with opec other countries become richer and richer because they have more money and our dollar was based upon this our dollar goes down and that's where inflation comes from because they have gone from the gold standard to the standard of something that comes out of the ground deep in the ground that burns a type of hell i look at all this i go man this is awful and i say now who's behind all this the devil okay let's go to revelation chapter 13 verse 16 through 18 and let's see what his plan is for the economy well revelation chapter 13 verse 16 through 18 the bible says and he calls it all both small and great rich and poor free and bond to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads and that no man might buy or sell save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name here's wisdom let him have to understand and count the number of the beast for the number of a man and his number is six hundred three score and six so the devil wants you to get into his system and his system is i don't want you to buy or sell you see what money is about is all about buying and selling so it's all about buy and sell and for almost 6 000 years of human history everybody knew you used a coin to buy and sell with because gold silver copper sometimes they use bronze coins these were all things that were intrinsically valuable and these were the things that people recognized as money and you bought and sell with that somehow the devil is changing that system to get rid of gold and silver in which there's a way that he can make you have a mark in your right hand or forehead and that you can't buy or sell without that mark and it sounds like possibly that mark will somehow be something to do with cryptocurrency like a chip so i think that uh the devil is behind all this so the question comes what should we do that are christians should we love money you know there's a lot of people out there that claim to be christians and they say they love the lord but yet they love money more than god a lot of people out there that aren't christians that are lost and all they can think about is money money money money money give me money i want money i want and in their mind money is a piece of paper that will burn up someday they don't even know what real money is real money is gold and silver and precious metals but they don't see that but what does the bible tell us does the bible tell us to love money well let's go to first timothy chapter six and verse seven the bible tells us about money and while we are alive in this world it takes money to live so we gotta have money to be able to pay the bills and buy food and things like that so it's not a sin to work and get money matter of fact the bible says we're supposed to work by the sweat of our brow and the bible tells us a man doesn't work neither should he eat okay so there's nothing wrong with working nothing wrong with making money the problem comes in when it comes to trusting what are you trusting in are you trusting in money are you trusting in jesus see i don't put my faith in my money i put my faith in the lord i try my best not to love money because how do you love a piece of plastic how do you love a piece of paper that's what they call money nowadays do i love gold silver and copper no no i just look at it as oh that's neat thing and yeah it's worth something but i don't love it all right let me let me show you what the bible says now i don't know why the lord gave me this message but he did for a reason maybe somebody out there maybe your faith is in your money or maybe you're trusting in money or maybe you love money more than god i don't know maybe this message is for you but we do need to look at what the bible says okay so in uh first timothy chapter six look at verse seven for we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out do you realize when you die your money does not go with you you might have a gigantic bank account here in this life the moment you die that's not yours anymore you cannot take it with you to the afterlife have you ever thought of that so what do you do well um i guess you could leave it behind to certain people but a lot of time when you do that well they tax the snot out of it so maybe while you're alive give it to somebody but then there's this gift tax so there's all the uh the devil just wants to get his cut doesn't he the devil loves money he loves to be rich he wants to take over the world and you know the old saying power is money and money is power right but it says here continuing there in first timothy chapter six verse seven for we brought nothing into this world and it's certain we can carry nothing out and having food and raiment let us be there with content but they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and hurtful lust which drown men in destruction and perdition you better be careful if you fall into this thing of of the love of money it can sure hurt you do you realize the more money you have the more problems you have now that's not saying you can't be rich you can there's nothing wrong with having money my dad used to say god showed what he's thought of money by the kind of man he gave it to usually the richest people in the world are the worst aren't they they're mean they're hateful they're evil they're wicked they do bad things get away with it too unfortunately why because they can pay off the lawyer pay off the judge pay off you know but money is not evil in itself and it's not wrong to have money so what is the bible telling us here it's wrong to lust after money see that's the sin is to lust after this is this all you care about money well there's a lot of people in the world that's it that's all they care about is money you better be careful and it says here for the love of money verse 10 is the root of all evil which while some coveted after they have heard from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows so coveting is wanting something that's not yours and oftentimes when it comes to money people are tempted to steal you ever heard of gold fever in the old days you know in the 1800s 1840s there was the gold rush in in california and people would go out there for gold and their story after story after story where this guy worked months and months made all this gold this guy comes and kills him and takes it that's because he loved the money that's not right love of money is the root of all evil and it says they have heard from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows verse 11 but thou o man of god flee these things and follow after righteousness godliness faith love patience meekness and on and on so we are not supposed to love money now that doesn't mean that we become monks and we go to a monastery somewhere and we make about poverty and we devote our lives to not making any money uh then you become a bump on the log and then you are not what you're supposed to be because the bible says you're supposed to work by the sweat of your brow and you're not working okay you can't go to an extreme but there is an extreme when it comes to money and that is loving it and the love of money is the root of all evil the older i get the more i understand that that all the evil in this world that we see is because someone cares more about money than they do anything else and so they're cutting corners here to make more money well that hurts people so they're doing this over here and lying and stealing and cheating to make more money well that that's wrong and so they'll do wrong to get money no no no god wants us to do right to get money we're supposed to be honest and work in humility and do what we do and make our money now it's not wrong like i said to make a lot of money but it's wrong to trust in that money and it's wrong to only live to make money you should live for the lord that entails what maybe taking some of the money that you do make and using it for jesus somehow maybe giving it to a missionary maybe giving it to the church if it's a good church don't give it to a bad church preach another gospel don't want to do that maybe you should buy boxes and boxes of king james bibles and everywhere you go hand them out maybe purchase some gospel trend you see what i want to teach you the reason i wanted to do this is because all that we're talking about over here this is all physical physical riches okay but do you realize there are spiritual riches and that in heaven there are treasures that we can get there are treasures in heaven up there so everything you do in this life it's going to stay down here in this life and if you make a whole lot of money good for you you might have that many zeros behind your bank account but you left it here how do you get riches up there that's what it all boils down to and that's through serving jesus christ go to matthew 6 24. i'm going to read you some more verses here but matthew chapter 6 and verse 24 no man can serve two masters for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold to the one and despise the other you cannot serve god and mammon mammon comes from the chaldean it's the persian word for the god of riches you know what some people have done they have made money their god and everything they do in this life is for more money and for more money and for more money and for more money and now they're serving that rather than serving god you know what they're going to lose rewards in heaven if they are saved now most of them aren't saved but if they are saved all you did was for nothing because you leave it all behind so there's got to be more to this life let's go to psalms chapter 62. psalms chapter 62. now let me also go back to this i forgot while you're turning the psalms i forgot to mention this the difference between cash and credit there's a big difference between cash versus credit nowadays everything you do via credit goes to a computer somewhere and there's a record of it so everything you do they spy on you that's the credit system cash is you're carrying around gold or silver or in our case nowadays paper and you go buy something and that's anonymous nobody knows who bought what it's none of their business what you buy really but the world we live in the devil wants to spy on people so he wants people to get over here to credit well with credit what does that mean that means you buy something with money you don't have yet and you say i'll pay you later you know kind of like that popeye guy i will gladly pay you wednesday for a hamburger on tuesday or something like that that's credit my grandmother taught me this she said son if you don't have the money to buy it you don't need it don't ever buy anything on credit don't buy it unless you have the money to buy i always thought that was a good you know thing that's one of the lessons i tried to live by now there's nothing wrong with structured credit let's say you you can do it and you can't afford to buy something and to pay every month okay that's that's different but a lot of people will get this card and get into debt and then they get over their heads with 24 to 28 percent interest and they can't pay off the card now they're in debt and what has credit done credit has got them into debt do you know that's a bad thing to be in debt now there's good debt and bad debt i'm not gonna there's there's a kind of debt that okay i owe you something but i'm paying you every month and i can afford it and i'm gonna have a goal of paying it off on such and such a day okay that's a a kind of debt that's okay but there's the wrong kind of debt to where you get over your head you're below water you're so far in debt i can't pay it off now what does the bible talk about that well actually yeah proverbs 22 7 then we'll come back to psalms proverbs 22 7 look what it says proverbs chapter 22 and verse 7 proverbs 22 7 says the rich ruleth over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender you go borrow money not that that's wrong if you can and you have a job and you can pay off every month great but if you come to the point where you borrow more than you can pay back now you become a slave a servant to him that's lending that's kind of a scary thought it's best to not ever get into that situation to where you end up so far in debt that you can't get out okay that's one of the ways that the devil tries to get people and he gets a bit of debt and it makes it hard for them best way to live is live debt free now i don't want to go all dave ramsey on you you know what i mean but i'm trying to tell you these are some biblical principles do the best you can to stay out of debt all right don't let that card be like whatever i want whenever i want it and and no no pay your debts okay you say you have a credit card right breaker yeah yeah we do and we pay it every single month we pay it off we never spend more than we have you know what we do we we get the points off of it a lot of times we'll get an olive garden gift card or we'll get a lowe's gift card and those came from the points and we'll get to enjoy those little rewards sometimes and i tell you those those credit card companies hate people like me they call us freeloaders because we're just using their card to get the points out of it but you see we have debt for a month but then we pay it off because we're using it for convenience we're not using it to buy stuff with money we don't have okay you understand what i'm saying so be careful with that now a lot of people though they're not financially free and a lot of people get in over their heads they get in debt and that's a bad thing you should never do that do you realize that's a poor testimony as a christian to get in debt but you can use those like i said the bible talks about that the bible says using the world but not abusing it it's not wrong to use a credit card and to get the points and then get to go enjoy a meal at olive garden with your family saying woohoo i earned this because i earned the points okay there's nothing wrong with using the world but don't abuse it okay now psalms chapter 62 and verse 10 the bible says this trust not in oppression and become not vain and robbery if riches increase set not your heart upon them so there might be a time in your life as you get older and usually i'm finding as you get older god blesses you more and more i think it has something to do with experience the more experience you have the more you're able to make better decisions financially the more you usually prosper the older you get i just i've noticed that and i look at young people and they get their first credit card they just go out there and buy whatever they want and they're so far in debt they don't know what to do so if i knew what i knew now if i could go back to when i was 16 17 wow my life would have been way better so i'm trying to help you here and trying to say hey be careful don't buy it unless you know you can pay for it okay and don't let that debt keep going more and more and more and more and more especially when it's like 20 something percent wow wow i had a friend he and his wife they used to take their credit cards and put it in a bowl of water and then put that bowl of water in the freezer you know what they did they put that bowl of water in the freezer and it froze those credit cards and that way before they made any purchase they had to talk about it they said you think i think that's something we can afford you think we should do this and if they united uh if they unanimously said yeah i think this is something we have to do then they'd have to go and let that thaw out and it'd take hours for it to thaw out while it was thawing out they kept talking do we really need it do we really really need that and then okay and then they decided well you know what no and they put it back in the freezer or they said yeah and they went and bought it so i thought that was a really kind of neat idea you know to keep you from from spin thriftery if you will of just buying stuff now well before we read some more let me just say this go to psalms 49 i've learned in my life to want to invest in things that i know are worth something i don't just want to buy something because it's cool all right one of the greatest things that i ever had in my life was when my father-in-law gave me a book called rich dad poor dad i read that book that was so good if you get a chance read rich dad poor dad and that book has some great principles about how to you know live your life and and not just go spend money be frugal well being frugal is something that i've always wanted to be and i try to be frugal with the money i have frugal means i just don't go by whatever i pray about it i wait and then i try to find the very best deal before i get something that way i'm trying to save money and that's the way to live that's a great way to live that's a good way to live so if you get a chance to read that book rich dad poor bad and in that book he talks about how you work for money and that's good there's nothing wrong with that but if you can set aside a little here a little there a little there and then let your money work for you now you're getting two incomes instead of one and i always looked at that so my wife and i we do what we call garage saleing okay and we love to garage sale because going back to this value thing it's all about what is something worth well when someone has a garage sale automatically their mindset is i can't wait to get this junk out of my garage so in their mind the stuff that they paid lots of money for is not worth very much to them it's got low value so you go to a garage sale and you find stuff that's worth a lot that they're just wanting to get sometimes they'll just give it to you and you're like wow let me tell you an example i tell you i like knives i'm a knife guy okay went to garage sale one time this guy brings this knife out and and i ask i always ask hey you got any knives i like knives you know because there's some knives out there that are worth hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars people don't know because of the brand and so you can buy that for cheap and resell it so this guy brings me out this knife it's a beautiful gerber knife army issued and uh it's just awesome i said how much you want for it back in my mind i'm going oh this is a 200 knife i'm familiar with what this thing is worth 200 i said so what what do you want for it he goes you know i probably paid 200 for that a couple years ago but he says it's it's a little dirty and i want to get a nicer one that's not dirty and i'm thinking so you want to sell that one so you could get a new one because this one's dirty oh it has has a little rust on it he said well i got that off as soon as i got it like that i said so how much you want for it goes 50 i go no that's too much he goes okay 40. i go okay i get 40 for a knife that's worth 200 bucks and i can turn that over anytime i want and even if i'm double my money 80 bucks the guy i sell it to be like oh it's a 200 life sure you can't get the money out fast enough and from time to time i go to garage sales i see deals like that then we turn it around one of my favorite things is army bayonets okay army-issued bayonets i've got one from afghanistan still has mud and dirt in it from afghanistan here where i live we barter more than we buy and so it's so poor here in pensacola we have a joke banana bomb went off in pensacola do about 10 worth of damage because everything's so so poor down here and so a lot of the people i know they barter and so when we see an old army issued bayonet from the last 20 30 years we say in our mind 100 bill so anytime you see that bayonet and i go to all these garage sales and these ex-army guys well i'll sell you my bayonet i say how much forty dollars fifty dollars i'm thinking okay double my money boom and i go and i turn around sell it for a hundred dollar bill so money is more than just a piece of plastic and a piece of paper this is where we get into what i like to call barter and you know there's nothing wrong with barter there is nothing wrong with trading and that's what we call trade with other people not using what they call money but using something else that has value and trading and i find that interesting so you can do that you can do that and i enjoy doing that i enjoy going to garage sales trying to find things that are valuable and then there have been many times i go to garage sale buy this this this or this turn around take it to a pawn shop double my money i mean you can do this kind of thing now uh oftentimes i'd rather not go to the pawn shop because they always give you way less than what it's worth but you know there were some tight times then that i that i did that other times i hang on to it and you either sell it on ebay or you put it on craigslist or you do there's there's other ways to do it but um it's all about living and part of life is making money to be able to pay the bills but are we to trust in that okay i just read you the verse where it says not to set your heart on it when i go to garage sales i don't go i just love this i can't wait to buy it no most of the time i'm thinking man i got more junk than i know what to do with i don't want to go garage sale on the day because i might get more junk and i don't like junk do i have time to tell you this this is already a long sermon but let me tell you this my wife and i we started by buying uh antiques and selling them at antique stores and we did that for a while and we found out a lot of the antiques were just huge sometimes we'd buy big antique furniture and we realized no that's no so now what we do we have an antique store but we sell very little items and we have a real small little case in one antique store where you go in and there's all sorts of jewelry for sale and so my wife likes to get costume jewelry and other kinds of jewelries and and sometimes she'll get the sterling silver and other things and if you go to downtown pensacola go there into all about antiques and it's right there and you can go in i don't know how much longer we'll do it because we're not making a lot of money on it but uh you can go in and you can buy what is one of my wife's things for sale there or whatever but uh it's all about money but guess what we don't love money and we don't set our heart on it it's not about oh i love money more than god no that's just part of life making money but you don't trust in that okay go to psalms chapter 49 verse 5 through 8. psalms 49 5 says wherefore should i fear in the days of evil when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about that they trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches do you trust in your wealth if you trust in your money that's wrong that's wrong and then it continues there in verse seven none of them can by any means redeem his brother nor give to god a ransom for him for the redemption of their soul is precious and it ceaseth forever that he should not live forever and not see corruption for he see it that wise men die likewise the fool and the british person perish and leave their wealth to others so the bible is telling us here don't trust in your money because you're gonna die someday and leave it all behind guess what he talks about it as a ransom and then he talks about redemption and he talks about the soul is precious you see money and all this stuff all that's for is for your body it's for the flesh and so you can buy stuff for the flesh but there is a different kind of riches and that kind of riches is over here and that's the riches of your soul and your soul needs to be redeemed your soul what is the ransom for your soul the blood of jesus christ so there is physical riches but there's also spiritual riches and that's how i want to close this today with the idea of spiritual riches and what do you put your trust in if you're trusting in your money you've got problems don't trust in money trust in jesus christ okay trust the messiah trust what he did for you proverbs 11 and verse 4 says this riches profit not in the day of wrath but righteousness delivereth from death when you're saved god imputes his righteousness to you and you go to heaven when you die you could be the richest man in the world be a trillionaire and you die without jesus you got nothing rich is profit not in the day of wrath maybe you've got a lot of money saved up and you've got yourself this huge complex and you say i'm gonna live underground in my giant complex for seven years as the tribulation comes rich is profit nothing in the day of wrath is your soul saved it all goes back to that and in the bible there are what's called spiritual riches and this is what we call salvation when you get salvation then you really become rich see a lot of people that have a lot of money in this world that claim to be rich they're the poorest people you've ever seen remember laodicea in the book of revelation thou says that thou are rich but they are really poor blind miserable naked so a lot of people today say i'm rich they're poor spiritually a lot of people today say i'm just as poor as jobs turkey i don't have any money yet they're spiritually rich they have a lot of riches in heaven what did jesus say in matthew 6 lay up your treasures in heaven so let's look at a couple verses real quick on that and then i'll close and i hope this is a blessing to you and i hope this will help you to think a lot of people they're spending all their time preparing physically for what's coming and that's great there's nothing wrong with being prepared for the future but how long is our future i think jesus is coming really soon at the rapture but they spend all their time thinking about these physical riches and the physical preparation but they don't seem to care about spiritual riches and preparing their soul for eternity and that's sad ephesians chapter 1 in verse 7 says this ephesians 1 7 says in whom we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace who's the richest of all jesus and the riches of jesus christ come only through him and through what he did on the cross through that blood that he shed verse 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened that you may know what is the hope of his calling and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints if you're saved you get rewards in heaven for what you do for jesus so you're laboring here on this earth for money to live off of but if you claim to be a christian are you also laboring for riches in heaven are you laboring for jesus are you just working for the man how about work for the man christ jesus okay because that's the riches that will endure forever those in heaven go to chapter 2 and verse 7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace and his kindness toward us through christ jesus the ages to come see that's the millennial kingdom that's heaven that's the ages to come that's all eternity with christ will you have any rewards in heaven will you have any riches ephesians chapter 3 verse 8 unto me who am less than the least of all saints is this grace given that i should preach among the gentiles the unsearchable riches of christ you think gold silver copper you think numbers you think you have a lot here that's nothing in christ there are unsearchable riches that you can have through him these include joy and salvation and peace and happiness turn over to colossians while we're here colossians chapter 2 also assurance colossians chapter 2 verse 2 that their hearts might be comforted being knit together in love and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding to the acknowledgment of the mystery of god and of the father and of christ notice what that says all the riches of the full assurance do you know assurance of your salvation is one of these riches are you sure assurance of salvation do you know that you're saved there's a lot of people in this world that are filthy rich that have so many millions of dollars and they say i'm rich and you go up to and you say hey do you know where you're going when you die no so you have all these riches the physical ones you don't have the most important richness of all knowing that you're saved everything i have i would gladly give to know that i'm on my way to heaven but you know what i don't have to because i got saved on july 29 1992 and i know that i'm saved i have assurance to me that's the greatest one of my assets that's the greatest riches that i have is knowing that i'm saved how about you do you have that do you know i thought i read this already but i guess i didn't matthew chapter six matthew chapter six so there's physical riches and a lot of people in the world they want that they covet that they lust that they want to be rich but you know all that is is something that's corrupt we don't have real money nowadays gold silver copper something that would be good for you to handle might even be good for your health no riches nowadays pieces of paper you know what they find on that paper you ever seen you give a dollar to somebody and they'll put it like in here or something sweat on it and i've been to garage sales where you know i'll buy something and the lady goes hold on and pulls out some money and hands it to me it's all dripping wet with sweat and i'm like oh thank you you know to me that's gross that piece of paper that's not true riches true riches are heavenly matthew chapter 6 verse 19. matthew chapter 6 verse 19 and 20 jesus christ says this lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break through and steal but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal for where your treasure is there will your heart be also where is your heart where are your true riches true riches come through jesus christ now let's close with proverbs chapter 13. actually we're going to close with luke chapter 12. but let's go to proverbs 13 7. proverbs chapter 13 verse 7 there is that make themself rich yet has nothing there is that maketh himself poor yet hath great riches and then look at the next verse the ransom first mention of money in the bible is the context of someone buying bought a person wow and here is talking about a ransom this was the ransom for me the blood of christ this is the true riches that only come through the price that jesus paid on the cross and it was to save my soul there are those who make themselves rich physically but what are they they have nothing no joy no peace no assurance no happiness no salvation they're rich but they're lost but then it says there is he that maketh himself poor yet half the great riches there are a lot of people in this world that are christians and they're struggling they're trying to get by day by day it's hard for them to get ahead and i feel for them there's many ways to make money and it's not wrong to make money it's not wrong to be rich but yet a lot of them they're looking at the riches in heaven and they're saying you know it's a big struggle here it's hard for me but i'm serving the lord and they're laying up their treasures in heaven because they are saved how about it luke chapter 12 luke chapter 12 and i'm done i've hopes this has been a blessing for you today i i hate to talk about money dad always said don't talk about money with people you know and and that's good but unless it's trying to instruct people to try to help them if in this life all you think about is money down here then you're going the wrong way you need to think about how can i lay up treasures in heaven because this is what lasts for all eternity that is just for a temporal time and then it's all gone luke chapter 12 verse 16-21 luke 12 16 says that he spake a parable unto them saying the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully and he thought within himself saying what shall i do because i have no room where to bestow my fruits and he said this will i do i'll pull down my barns and i will build greater and there will i bestow all my fruits and my goods and i will say to my soul soul thou has much goods laid up for many years take thy knees eat drink and be merry he's thinking everything i can set up to where i can just sit down and relax and do nothing and just be a rich guy for the rest of my life verse 20 but god said unto him thou fool this night thy soul shall be required of thee then who shall these things be which thou hast provided god says no you don't even realize it today you're gonna die you're gonna leave all that behind all that for nothing because you didn't get saved verse 20 so is he that layeth up treasure for himself and is not rich toward god i gave this today in the hopes that you'll understand the message and the message is love god more than money okay i don't love money but i also understand that it takes money to live gotta have money to eat gotta have money to pay the bills gotta work to make money but don't trust in your money trust in the lord i want to ask you a question are you saved if you say yes brother breaker i'm saved and let me ask you another question do you have any rewards in heaven have you done anything for jesus been thinking about this a lot lately and this song went through my head and i woke up this morning singing this and thinking about this and just this is why the lord laid this on my heart because i want the lord to come back at the rapture and i don't care about houses or lands or cars or money or this or that everything in this world is temporal all i'm looking forward to is jesus coming back and this song was on my heart so i'll close singing this song to you today i'd rather have jesus than silver or gold i'd rather be his then have riches untold i'd rather have jesus than houses or lands i'd rather be led by his nail-pierced hand than to be the king of avast omega i'd rather have jesus than anything this old world affords today i'd rather have jesus than men's applause i'd rather be faithful to his dear cause i'd rather have jesus than worldwide fame i'd rather be true to his holy name than to be the king of a stomach or do we held in sin stretch sway i'd rather have jesus than anything this old world affords today he's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom he's sweeter than honey from out of the comb he's all that my hungering spirit needs i'd rather have jesus and let him lead then to i'd rather have jesus than anything this old world affords today i'd rather have jesus than anything this whole world of forts today amen can you honestly say the same what do you care more about the things of this world or jesus christ what you can get in your flesh or do you care about your soul enough to look into how to be saved how to lay up treasures in heaven how to be in heaven with jesus i hope this has been a blessing to you now i got to preach it in spanish pray for me thank you for being here god lays it on
