hey everyone so I know a bunch of you have been asking me how the heck did you get your face into your midterm portraits this video is going to explain a bit about that I started this mini portrait series because I'm a former photographer and honestly I've never really gotten over getting in front of the camera from having been behind the camera for so long and so all this to say I wanted to start that's like a jewelry to me a sort of mini portrait series and the first step was like well how can I create these images how can I get my face in there this tutorial is going to show you how to get your face into your mid Journey creation so you can also make a fancy portrait and hang it above your fireplace or something like that make it Fantastical that's Michael from my portraits you can make yours however you like so let's jump into it so you can make a fancy portrait too alright so honestly the first step is taking some pictures of yourself I use my iPhone and I looked straight dead on at the camera when you have some images that you really really like send them to yourself on your laptop so that way you could follow the rest of this tutorial all right now we're gonna head over to Mid journey to start adding our own server now that we have Discord open you see this little plus icon at the very bottom you're going to hit that and here you finally have your option to create a server creating a server is free so you just enter that and you choose which one you want to create it for I think it just shows it for me and my friends and then you add in your details and that's pretty much it you have your own server the thing we want to do is add Insight face to your newly created server I'll add the link below so you can just click the Discord bot and here is essentially what it will look like you'll add it to the server of your choosing whatever you've named it just add it to that and hit continue so how you're going to add your images to inside face is by going into a channel that you've created in your server and you're going to write forward slash save ID and now here is where you have forward slash save ID you're going to have to create an ID name and an image you're going to add your image right here and ID name name it something that you'll remember I just write my face um and of course add your image when you hit enter you should be good to go your face should be saved within this bot to add in later to your mid Journey images now we're going to head over to Mid Journey now that we're in my journey we want to find them at Journey bot here it is click it and you should have this option to add it to your server and that's pretty much it it's as simple as that okay so now that we have our inside face spot and mid Journey bot into our servers now it's time to start prompting so something that was very helpful for me was being very specific with what I wanted my outputs to be like so what I mean is well I'm Hispanic woman and I have all of tone skin and those things can be really still very broad but I at least wanted to get me close enough to someone that matched my skin tone so I could put myself into that body as creepishly as that sounds so the next step is the prompting like where do you want your portrait you to be in and I I love this I love this um first of all my Creations are always Fantastical surreal so that's what I'm going to lean into I'm going to start with a really fun prompt here the never-ending story from the 1980s is a really phenomenal beautiful movie and uh let's put us in there so let's see what that looks like forward slash imagine and this is how we'll activate the mid-journey bot and I have my prompt here young Hispanic woman goddess witch a never-ending story wearing a costume by Balenciaga surrounded by Wizards big dragon in the style of surrealism magical atmosphere film still dash dash AR so aspect ratio 16x9 and dash dash up beta up beta makes your images realistic and aspect ratio is just the width and height of the image that you're creating you can do something very social media related so like 9x16 just flip that honestly and you should be good to go so with our aspect ratio of six by nine we're gonna get something very horizontal if you want it to be longer just flip those numbers and then that should be perfect for like social media if that's what you want to make for so let's hit enter and let's see what it makes a Word of Wisdom here you only have 50 times to add your face using inside face spot that is the limitation this is what that prompt led us to I love it so the other thing I will say is that if you ever want to check your settings of like your mid Journey settings you can always type in forward slash settings and hit enter and this is how you pull up the settings of your mid Journey bot right now I'm on the curse the current version mid Journey 5.1 style raw and raw it forces my journey to be less opinionated when generating images and I am in style medium and there are lots of other cool settings here I believe the ninji version is Anime sort of Leaning so this is just sort of my makeup and how I'm like what's under the hood before I prompt and and what's controlling or leading the images outputs so this was one of the outputs I took the dragon out of the prompt because it was really dominating the scene here we have something really really illustrative I love this like little creature down here it's like a cat bird I have no idea but I love it so with this image I'm gonna I'm gonna show you how we can add our face into it and we'll see if it's a success so we're in our server and we're going to right click and we're going to go ahead into the apps go to in swapper Just click it and it should just go ahead and start adding the face in there all right it kind of made me look ragged so prompt and try it out test as much as you'd like remember you have your you are limited to 50 tests per day for the in face swapper the in swapper I'm calling it so many different names so be wary of that from here and this is why I believe it took me a few times this is good this is honestly I'm surprised did a really good job um you may notice that maybe you're like some of your variations at least for mine it started adding like Teeth even though I never gave it an image with me smiling with my teeth I had my mouth closed so you'll bump to some like little errors like that with the in swapper face swapper but just keep testing keep trying if anything photoshop your mouth closed that's what I had to do in some of mine that's just a heads up but here's a really cool one to try out I tried this prompt Hispanic woman sitting in a Corvette 1950s in a Jacqueline Onassis dress magical atmosphere cinematic film still aspect ratio 16x9 up beta and yeah so let's see what it gives us okay so let's see these leaves look gorgeous they look so Timeless love the red lip I'm going to show you I probably be good with this one so actually a really cool fun tip is that if you wanted to put your face in all four of these you just right click and go into Apps and choose the in swapper and it will put all of your four all of your face all over your face your face into the four Images here that you can just test out quickly but remember you have the cap of 50 tests per day so I'm going to share the one that I really loved from this era this prompt specifically that I was a fan of and thankfully my face fit into here we have this one this was in the Corvette I really love it I think it did a good job at putting my face in there this was a good a good turnout so that's a really cool form prom so we're going to take one of these images one of my favorites and bring it into Photoshop beta this is one of my favorite portraits that I got from the steps that I basically showed you of how to add your face within the mid Journey prompts and images and this was my outcome but it had me wondering like you know what what could I expand this portrait we're essentially using the Marquee the rectangle mark key tool you want to make sure that you have some pixels left within here so it knows where to sample from and down here generative fill you really want to make sure that when you hit it you keep your prompt empty and you're going to hit generate and it will start generating the background and expanding the world of the image that you put in there it gives us a few versions here so I've actually gone ahead and expanded it um so I'll undo all of this and I'll show you what my my layers here that I have turned off turned into so this was the OG image and for this one it took me many prompts and to be very candid I still think she doesn't really look like me the lips are a little too big I'm being totally honest with myself and I even had to reduce them and further tweak them you can something that actually helped me was opening up a few apps like you can make up perfect 365 and I went ahead and added some Lashes in there or some makeup and within Photoshop I actually ended up adding just like a DOT here and some light here because previously well let me show the previous image previously there was just like original light in the eyes which uh which wouldn't happen in photography because when you're taking a photo of someone you have your main light then you want to have some kind of like bounce uh to bring some light below them or around them so naturally whatever lights that you have within your setup of taking the photo of someone it shows up in their eyes and that's one of the best ways to figure out like wow that's a beautifully lit image how can I figure out how it was lit Through The Eyes that's the cheat code okay so this is a side by side of just like the original output versus uh some tweaks that I made here I see like the lips are a bit bigger there's less makeup here around the eyes and there's definitely like no reflection in the eyes there's just like one light maybe like two at best happening here and so I added some of that finer detail in the eyes here to give it a bit more life and then yeah it just I mean I think I also reduced some of the baggage under the eyes so I'll get rid of that there um made some final tweaks that I was just comfortable with like myself and then brought it into Photoshop beta and expanded it so here is where yeah here's where Photoshop here's what Photoshop beta generative fill gave me and then you know what I was just like you have a moment where you're creating something you're like is this where I wanted it to stay you know is the image more about the person are they camouflaging in the environment are they less significant now because I created more around it so I'm currently undecided but I love generative fill it gives me so much to explore have fun with it have fun expanding your world because it's really really neat so okay I'll stop sharing there I'm undecided which one let me know if you have a favorite one if it's the original output from mid-journey or if this one is a lot better okay so this is one of my outputs from The Prompt of the Goddess which an ever-ending story this was one of the outputs I loved it and here is what it gave me I think my face swapped like almost perfectly on this I'm gonna show you some bad face swaps but I love this one it did such a great job bad face swap my experience with bad face swaps is uh having the face be at an angle here so this one I felt like it kind of did something a little funky to my face and so I just kind of toss it aside things at an angle if it's too harsh of an angle it's going to be really gonna do something funky to your image that had face swaps okay so if you're gonna put your face in uh something that has an event a lot of other people are within it you're going to show up in different in other people's faces in everyone's face so here I'm in three people's faces there's a really quick way to retouch this but I just thought it was hilarious to bring up I am here I am also here I am in this person's face with a beard it's hilarious um but I love this example it's just hilarious to me alright I hope you learned a ton today and I hope that you make awesome portraits of yourself if you have a preferred portrait that you want to learn more about leave it in the comments below let me know if you have any questions or anything like that of course leave that in the comments below as well I was happy to do this it was so much fun and I hope y'all make a bunch of portraits if you do make them please tag me in it I would love to see them alright I'll catch you in the next one
