okay today we're going to be looking at some of the mapping tools for project zomboid uh i'm going to spoil a little bit of a surprise right here we were doing a squid game challenge with some friends in project zomboid recently i don't want to show the whole map or everything because you're gonna be seeing it in a video in a couple of days uh it was really fun to do but the one issue was that the admin controls as they are in project zomboid don't really lend themselves to creative endeavors and so we had this issue where we kept having to clean up the arena after we did the whole game because we were like uh you know we were [Music] spawning in zombie hordes and there was blood everywhere and we'd have to burn them all after everything it was just taking way too much time so i thought i two years ago i did a lot of work on this on the mapping in project zomboid so i'm going to do a lot of the creative elements right here it has been less than three oh all right thank you very much much appreciated f dog and jump nuts thanks very much for the subs yeah so again we're going to be streaming this just so we can get some community input and ideas and if you folks want to make any maps yourselves maybe this will inspire you to do so there's a lot of tutorials out there from project zomboid um i i think the best video one the most comprehensive one out there right now is by blackbeard uh it's got a couple of years on it i don't think too much has changed um i was thinking of trying to do something a little bit on my own maybe after i get my stuff together but uh i i think that that will require a lot of work so i don't really want to do it right now uh it is a lot of work to do this um that being said i'm not going to go over all the nitty gritty of how to get the map set up like i did go about creating a world which was just there um here it is there we go okay so i generated a world that has some like really basic stuff on it here we go so there is a world a blank world and i can drag in buildings if i want to i think that's under objects i believe i don't even remember as some of this stuff works i'm still reminding myself of it so another one thanks for the kids oh what a nice guy voice and content you brought me to rimworld uh thank you very much hey much appreciated carlos uh thank you for the ten dollars so we'll be kind of um we'll kind of be going through just the building making process right here and you can always drag these buildings in i guess i should just preview a couple of the ones that i did i made we made a shady strip club in one um there was a motel not a very good one um there was one that i made that was inspired by blair because he made all this relative resident evil stuff we made wheat fields that could be dragged onto stuff watch towers the barn from daisy a barracks which apparently doesn't exist a cannibal ranch a sleazy car dealership my favorite one in particular based on uh matilda i believe that was where i was getting inspiration for this and you can drag in all the world items and objects and it's a lot of fun uh but let's leave that behind because we're i accidentally just deleted it all let's go 64 by 64. i want to give myself plenty of room because you can't really make the building bigger once you've begun either that or i'm just not smart enough to so we're going to be creating uh several different events for players we're making a squid game in arena if i've not said that already um but oh my god my room definition did not look that great i don't really know if i'm going to want this though so i'm just going to undo that it's pretty pretty intuitive pretty easy i think um i'm going to be kind of banging my head against the wall a little bit with some of these things though so i'm just going to apologize in advance because i know that it's been a while since i last did this uh oh no it will hopefully not do that that would be disgusting um so we'll do we do have to designate all of my god this is really intuitive we're going to go ahead and click on these the good news is that if i do this in this building editor good it is doing everything that i think it's supposed to be doing if we create everything in here we don't have to just limit ourselves to player built constructions i think i'm gonna give myself a little bit of extra room on this map because i want to count it out let's say that this is one two three four i want to be able to place 30 players in this arena right one two three four so i'm going to place all of that good because i want to be able to pin like 30 players in here with hundreds of zombies where they're all fighting and basically a gladiator fight um hey queeks thank you very much for the sub but yeah we're going to let's go here and we'll create this and now there's all kinds of like traps and other things that i want to be able to put on the side here i can draw in a little bit more i'm being a little bit sloppy right here but it doesn't need to be perfect so here we go if anyone really makes maps a lot the i guarantee you won't learn anything from this video because it's been so long since i last did it um so that's one floor um very very basic we would want to make this arena a little bit more interesting but we just want to get something that works to start um what's my opinion on multi-hit and pz i think it makes the game more manageable i think i've been waiting for multiplayer to get back to uh multi-hit i thought the game got very hard with uh single player i think we have to go to roof here i'm pretty sure that we have to go to roof now is this designated no this is the other one um we need to go to floors here we go and we're just going to create like a disgusting floor that someone can stand on from the top and watch the events unfold now i need to upset and not mean to do that i believe it's just technically considered is it ground select and move rooms no that's not what i wanted floors well this is rather basic isn't it shallow slip no that's not what i want ah here we go flat top ah that is what i wanted good yeah so there's gonna be a little bit of struggling everyone loves a good struggle everyone loves a good struggle let's go add in another floor and make sure that worked right and it isn't an optical illusion and it's not fooling me uh because there is a lot of that in an isometric game uh cracked flesh hey thank you very much for the uh for the 200 bits what's going on here is this a map for viewers so ultimately i do want to bring in uh events to patrons because it it's taken way too long right now i've i've done names at the end of videos but i've really made it my goal over the last year to get events going but i really just haven't because it's been one thing after another this year and i've been really busy i've moved uh and there was just a lot of other like stuff to sort out with getting my youtube channel set up and everything like that and moving over to full time so it's just like okay uh when will i have time to do the fun stuff so hopefully this is the fun stuff that we can start doing and i tried it out on a couple of my friends and they seemed to enjoy it so i think after we've had everybody from the community i've already got a couple of folks who are patrons in there um into a specialized server where we're gonna do some of these as uh as extra challenges for the channel i think we wanna create maybe like a one wide thing here but i also don't wanna make it difficult for zombies just being unknown in this region so let's go ahead and just add in some fences what i'm trying to do is create a giant gladiator pit for players um do i have a special place right um ultimately i want to open it up to more people i mean yeah we would do it to like the whole supporters channel so anybody who's subbed on twitch and anything like that um and then beyond that you know if there's any places left i would just kind of open it up to everybody we want to make it a small group of people that i like i ideally know uh unless if i just have a bunch of squeakers in the chat which we've all been there once so uh um yes wu tang yes indeed uh where are fences again exterior walls use tiles furnitures so i added pretty much down pat the last time that i did this but now i'm finding myself remembering more than i thought i would have to walls we could create higher walls one issue that we had in some of the testing was that people were just jumping over the walls which we certainly didn't want uh but this kind of saves a lot of time with just like uh oh and you can also create your own customaries so i found that i was using cracks on the ground a lot you can use custom towels for that you can make custom hedge mazes there's so much that you can do place trees uh player built walls doesn't look like i did that paper to the map it's essential to outbreak ah actually let's do this we have yes toilet paper would be ideal i think you can also create larger objects too so that you can place things in like bigger tiles that's it's a little bit outdated though it's a little bit outdated and some of these were custom tiles that i had created a long time back um we can make it look more industrial ideally what i'd really like to do is kind of export some of this stuff to the community and just be like hey folks uh here's some apps we could do a contest or something like that or make it fun for everybody and for me i only know from experience is that it's a lot of work so i think it'd be fun to you know if everybody makes one map then we can kind of publish them and share them around um trying to think of other stuff there what awesome dog thank you very much for the sub and my mind still strap for the bits thank you and tal wood and booty thank you for the subs um yeah dawn of the map i mean you know the issues with challenges like this i think is that people have more ideas than anyone could possibly do which is why i've just told myself before i did this like no i will limit myself to one small idea here we go cement railings this is even better than i thought it would be okay good so i believe that these are placed like objects in the game world and we can just do this pretty much uh we could combine these together into bigger objects so we could place like five of them at a time but that's more work and you can also like rotate them in ways you every single tile in pz is this labyrinthine uh kafka-esque nightmare of madness it's really not my favorite thing to do or it's not very intuitive to the average person i mean it is kind of intuitive what i'm doing right now i suppose but at the same time it's also just like uh how much it's it's not very user friendly in the same way that minecraft is in my opinion which is oftentimes all that the general public can stomach no offense but people just have very short attention spans for things like this a little bit i don't blame them but it is kind of fun when you get to this stage which is why i've saved all the fun stuff for twitch is stuff like uh you know placing down all of the all of the bits and bobs in the buildings the bits and bobs of course um so right now i'm going for something very basic we told ourselves that we would just finish off a map and like uh you know just have it operative i found that when i was playing this with my friends it was like i had a surf hit of ideas there were so many ideas but who could possibly implement them all because everyone kind of needs to individually understand the tools um and i really think it's more work than one person should have to do i used to do a server like this where there was um a friend of mine who kind of managed it and i just found that i lost patience for it because i couldn't um i i felt like i couldn't keep up with everything so it's one of those another thing kind of similar to making a server that i will never really have time or patience for but i think it's fun and if i had a clone of myself to like order around do this do that i would probably make the clone do this more of the time because it's fun it's very rewarding it is kind of like playing the sims though too um and i think that it's something that's obscure enough and was really around in zomboid for quite a long time other maps like bedford falls and whatnot uh were around and there's so many maps with the community that i think people are just missing out on and it's kind of nice to see people rediscovering the game the game again for the first time because i'm reminded of just how much obscure knowledge that's extremely useless that i possess uh in my mind i might actually go ahead and try to create another extra tile set here i didn't anticipate i would have to make something quite that large so uh that's a start but we can go ahead and take this and go down a couple levels or go up levels and kind of look down at the whole thing make sure that everything looks more or less right um yeah there's a lot to try are those supposed to be east walls uh yeah they're not perfect they're not perfect like the way that the tile set is laying out um west east very very debatable though but i haven't really noticed that it affects the gameplay itself so as long as you put the tile in and that it visibly looks right in my experience it it does seem to spawn into the game world right otherwise yes probably someone with uh more five head 200 iq than me could probably do a much better job uh than me so so kind of keep that in mind uh i am an idiot and take everything that i say with a grain of salt here we go uh another one there it is but it was funny i you know i'd been creating videos for i would say like three or four years at the point uh probably about three years on zomboid when i first started with this and then the developers actually had started watching these videos like uh and even uh helpfully like correcting my mistakes and things like that so i learned more about the uh about the software as they went um let's see other stuff yeah thanks everybody for coming in from youtube yeah not maybe the most action-packed stream but i hope that at least elucidates some of this for you folks oh we are all we're all in good company here thank you for the sub sleepy mishka um other things like inserting doors most of this stuff is fine you can put like a jail door on it and stuff like that um [Music] now keep in mind when we do these games like squid game and stuff like that you want to make it so that it's very easy for one admin to uh administer most of the challenge on their own and we want to put in little indicators that kind of uh let players know where some objects are so one thing that i might do for example right here is do we have a different type of wall i might just ask myself because i was thinking that for this event uh there would be boxes staged at various locations on the arena that you would have like a different color wall or a different paint job or something like that uh or maybe even some secrets hidden in the arena that players could take advantage of perhaps um [Music] let's go ahead and see if we can just change one of the walls here or maybe like put some marking on the wall exterior walls will make this one uh something very distasteful hopefully something distasteful here we go uh is that it oops i accidentally deleted the entire wall uh this is one of the little issues with like uh wall override and stuff like that let's go ahead and just put this back in huh ignore that let's do them on the corners to keep it simple just because i'll know where they are we'll make the walls like red yes a red wall good uh can we also yes we can actually oh wow look at that we overrode the other wow look at how proud i am of us ah such a good job hey mirror how are you my friend no no that would be great i got the games come out actually got my friends addicted to it tips for a newbie before we all die i don't know there's a lot of good tutorials now on youtube a lot of good tutorials kind of like an an unprecedented explosion of youtube content one two three four i think we could make this like uh how many let's do something like every two three we do like every fourth one oh i have an idea we could hide the goods behind one of these walls right and then after every round a random one of these things will open up that way it would confuse people more oh splendid splendid no wall you do not belong there just trying to create something that would have been hard to create and creative and hopefully save us some time there so let's go ahead and do this and like this and maybe one of these and this and this and i was thinking that one of the rooms that we would create which is uh one of the ones i'm working on right now would just be a whole mess of doors like just to create a room that is just a nightmare of doors and you want to get out of asap it's not perfect but it's good enough no one will really notice and we could just open up a random one of those after every single round and maybe for example okay now i'm getting more excited than i should uh where is the i could have done a metal wall well that would have been nice but oh well this is fine um uh on the outside we could put like a little container for example and then maybe here there would be room for a crate or something like that to be stored so an admin could sledgehammer open one of these walls and then there would be a crate behind there a little bit i got inspired by mr beast's squid game you know i was just like if he could do that certainly i could do that in a video game because i don't have a three and a half million dollar budget but i do have a video game and uh like at least 30 people i could probably get a hold of i mean would you folks be interested in this it seems like the type of thing that people would be interested in in taking part i got fun making it which is how i can tell that it's a good uh a good idea to try it yeah i mean ideally i'd like to open it up to more and more people so as they uh as they open up the multiplayer you know ideally like start off with a couple of people i know but then it would be nice to kind of open it up you know maybe like do a little application process or something like that uh i found that works better than just like hear everyone randomly join because that can also just lead to massive spam and um promoting of like cardano and all kinds of obscure cryptocurrency and like telling people like get out of here with your uh with your lies so yeah we wouldn't want that to happen all right so we've created somewhat of an idea okay this is starting to look slightly more less ass than it did before excellent excellent yes we should keep going we should hmm what other kinds of suspicious looking implements would we have in there we need to go find the uh where is the carpentry i believe it's under carpentry uh here we go all right so some crates so now we have some crates and we could put like uh winner crates in each of these rooms you can't actually see them but there are winner crates back here i guarantee it uh whoops nope uh ignore that we need it to be on that side so there's a very subtle difference in the placement you could create one that's floating in the air it's it's a it's a little obscure but i think you can see how the map maker works more or less that you have to like do this a little bit i wish that there were more like copy and paste tools in this because i think that would make it a whole lot better but fortunately all of the tools haven't been outdated over the years i did this a couple of years ago and i did message the devs like will all of my work ever get erased they're pretty uh pretty reassuring that it wouldn't i hope it doesn't but maybe who knows maybe it'll happen hey so okay how are you my friend thanks for the sub mojo thanks for the prime seems like my twitch community is pretty laid back compared to others at least yeah well you know we've we've been we've been here uh we've been here for a minute man been here uh we need to create a box in the middle a box in the middle yeah i don't like to do things like you know show everyone my underpants like some of the other twitch and youtube streamers do that's slightly off from the exact middle almost got me there is that is that the middle this away i think it's too high up but i couldn't notice i couldn't notice i think it's because of the way that the or the orient yes it must be the orientation of course it's the orientation so we want to go ahead and create something like that so that there's just some suspicious looking pile of boxes in the middle i noticed that the zombies did attack these so we want to try to limit the number of the boxes uh uh thank you very much gianna we have a very very nice community around here nothing is nothing suspicious about our community of course not um all right so let's go ahead and we'll create the entrance since this wasn't perfectly symmetrical we'll make this the entrance to perhaps the next challenge or something like that and what we want to do is try to create some kind of organized way of funneling players into the next challenge so i think we'll just make that a little one by one walkway because i can't think of a more simple way to do it uh we could make it a little bit different later on if we decide but this is a good place to start i i'm not very good at presentation if you can't tell but i'm pretty good at making things just sort of work that is one of my strengths all right so this would ideally be the starting room um if you folks have any ideas for things that would make this look slightly more impressive i'm open to it uh i have several trap doors where uh loot could be unstashed we wanted to make this a little bit more random for players so we're trying to just make it crazy but um yeah now is the time where the community you folks can just kind of uh insert any ideas that you want make it amazing so we do have a maze like a literal walk around and uh hate yourself maze as one of the uh other events but just kind of like things for the uh for the general we uh let me just see would we be able to set this one on fire another thing is that i'm thinking about is like fire proofing these mazes because we want to start throwing molotov cocktails at the players as they go um hey did fishies thanks very much one by one walk by sounds like a rimworld kill box entrance yeah pretty much um secret death trap uh who would have done that if i had made it vertical yeah we could have added in secret death traps that would have been very interesting ah this is what i have you for we could create that as a separate thing if we want but that's sort of like what the final squid game arena already was i might make it a little bit different i think this is a it may not look crazy but it's always a start to begin with and all i really want is something simple tall walls with my logo or a pattern or something yeah we could just have a big swish on one of the walls right uh hmm we want it to look dystopian kind of like the hunger games as well kind of keep that in mind uh i think i'm gonna start there i want something really ugly just to start you know something simple and ugly so let's do that because technically this works so uh don't question it let's save this as uh where are we let's call this uh let's just call everything squid game we'll start that off for everything we'll make the squid game uh wave survival i'm gonna make a few different types of events we'll call this one just for uh it's it's really basic i'll just do numbers okay so the next one will be like squid game let's close this tab make a new building and that's uh that's the first one so there we go we have it it's a building it may not be a very good building but it's our building we're gonna go ahead and create let's do another one this one doesn't need to be quite as large we'll make this one like 40 by 40. i find it's better to make them a little bit smaller let me just think that's 160 tiles 30 plate yeah that should be fine squid game arena will also use that and we'll try to kind of vary the aesthetic a little bit from place to place so this time we'll use some garage walls we want it to look kind of dreary um is this for a mod it's not really a mod it's like a map mod if you want to say that if you would consider mapping to be a mod um but we could go into like item modeling and stuff like that it's a little bit easier to gauge some of these ruler bits too if we use this so we've got one two three uh four yes four we're counting now amazing right uh whoops i didn't mean to do any of that something that could be interesting maybe not here though would be a maze of locked doors and metal walls but good floor and after the players find the unlocked door and find it yeah so like something um actually this is more interesting about what i had that is slightly more interesting than what i was going to say uh i have a horrible idea which i'm going to share with you right now uh let's just go ahead and create no that's not what i wanted where was the the interior walls of it there we go i'm going to make a giant jail it's also not what i wanted oh i think it's because it's an interior wall all kinds of crazy stuff like this in the game um i know what's going on so what we need to do is create a room and then if we create a wall yup that's what happened okay uh and for some reason it does that all right we're going to make one of the worst just generally worst events that anyone has ever seen i want this one to be very claustrophobic so this one will be like this that's not really centered it doesn't need to be perfectly centered you just want to give yourself enough working space there we go isn't that awful certainly it is uh we'll do this for an exterior wall too and we'll kind of overwrite can we overwrite that now we are not really overwriting it uh we'll call that an exterior wall can we go on an exterior wall all right this is an area where yeah i'm messing up here but what i want to do is this you will see this is going to be the worst event you've ever seen going to be a literal maze of one by ones uh and players will just hate themselves when they go into this event we created like a hall of optical illusions for one of these events and it was horrible but this would be particularly nefarious everything should look like something out of jigsaw you know like out of the saw movies uh on orange x thanks very much for the sub hmm find and replace furniture would be great for streamlining yeah like finding and these types of tools like find and replace would be really nice in there sometimes they are in there for this software and there's a few examples of them but they're very obscure and then some of them just don't exist which is why i was like oh it would be cool if we had a couple of updates to the mapping software but uh i know this doesn't look like anything is happening but this is creating this which is just a visual nightmare which is this is the main idea that we want players to suffer immensely whenever they enter a room in our challenge and that would be uh good there we go all right i would probably quit if i saw this in front of me just something horrible that no one would want to take part in we did create a literal maze i had never made anything this bad until this weekend there we go this is challenge room two don't you just want to slap the nearest gorilla when you see this they have to get over the uh wait a minute that didn't work that didn't work at all that didn't work at all why didn't that work there's some type of tile that's unknown here oh it's because we're using this ground which is just ass hang on a moment uh we don't want that can we put that on the ground all right you know what we're gonna have one of those that's fine occasionally we'll get this error pop up that's fine um yes i would want to punt a child uh yes yes something like that i think we do something like this like we just add in jail doors to literally all of these spots so that people they want out you know they want their lives to be over but we also make it a maze of jail doors so that no one knows where to go even i don't know where to go we'll have to play test it and see if we have to add in more doors or we could make all kinds of horrible traps that are kind of like koga's gym from pokemon um oh my god that's horrible yep that's that's what i wanted that's what i wanted uh so you can kind of see where this is going did we do are we getting anything why is it so white over there yeah takashi's castle's on board egyptian punishment simulator basically everything should be like this and imagine 30 or 40 players trying to cross through this entire maze all once and all kinds of things about human behavior like misbehavior and behavior will come to light when people play these types of uh things you can kind of see where the walkway is here and you know ideally you create this and then you make it very easy for yourself to create variations um but yeah that's more or less how this works even if this ends up being a wasted hour it's kind of worth it to just bang your head against a wall with the software so i can sort of see this but you also then want to add in kind of like missteps and ways that players could go just to make it horrible for them because why make it easy right um i in fact i think i made that one too easy there we go let's make it harder so that is another room um there could be like multiple answers or something like that as well let's make it not even lead to there we won't even tell players where the exit is but yeah this is this room come in here and somehow find your way back out there and in the meantime there's a lot of zombies being spawned in on you and you know maybe we allow pvp or something like that so that if somebody finds a really good weapon or if somebody has a ranged weapon at this point they could just slaughter everyone starts with an escape group at the top that leads to death so now i think you folks are kind of like on the more or less the same page now that you see the kind of rabbit hole that my head is going down so if you have any ideas let's talk about it that's the reason why i stream these things and don't just kind of work on them on my own in a whole uh which is also perfectly acceptable but you know i wanted the idea here is to work very rough and then polish it out and make it better later um what was the one about the uh the stairs from the escape rope at the top that leads to death would be very interesting or something i haven't really added in much verticality to these challenges but i think uh having like some kind of vertical challenge element for players would be extremely migraine inducing which is pretty much the idea of most of these things a spike tile for unfortunately we do have to work with the tiles that are in the game until people make them like there is for example the bear trap mod but uh like i haven't stopped speaking in a few minutes but you get the idea i'm going to take a sip of water you take a sip of water hey thank you shrek hey happy to have you um man i just hit my funny bone do fires cause buildings to collapse there is no structural integrity in the game so they won't collapse they might be gone but uh we'll call this one squid game and you need to be really organized with this uh uh we'll call this prison we'll call this this is a variation on the door prison uh door we'll call labyrinth let my family go oh wait hmm wrong person oh that is a very chance oh god that is that is a very funny hey thank you very much m cool tv uh your sarcasm is second to none um uh it reminds me of a particular community post from recently uh squid game prison la we'll call this labyrinth labyrinth prison one this is gonna be one variation of it there will be many more ones i'm planning on making some of them that will burn down as they go so that's another way i think we should probably try to make it kind of uniform as to where players come out all the time maybe this one won't even have an entrance uh or an exit or something or we'll just torture everyone in it uh wouldn't that do instruments of torture count there we go so that's pretty good um and the idea is that you don't have to keep reconstructing the events but you know maybe simple hallways will work we'll save that um other ideas spike pit mod as well um spike pick mod we could do we could do a little bit more modding when we get more into it another thing you could do is like elevate all of this and then remove some of the floors just so that people will start to fall to their deaths if you put it on like a fourth floor uh height that could be interesting um shouldn't i separate the folder for this project yeah you're right i could have been even more organized but uh at least i'm giving them all the same name um hmm area full of broken cars with only one working unfortunately you have to spawn in cars but you can create car spawns oh that would be interesting like the whole place will burn and one of the cars is working that would be very interesting huh this is a good idea so yeah pretty much this is the whole point of this is for me to just steal all of your ideas you know um but i'm gonna work off of a few more that i that i particularly like i think we'll make this one uh let's try to simplify these more because i'm realizing that i'm giving myself way too much tile space and i don't necessarily need this much let's go for another squid game arena but we're going to create a new um now you can create room templates if i haven't already done this i believe i did this before but uh glass works in a particularly weird way no trim we don't want we want doors to be we'll use jail doors as an aesthetic that is consistent across the entire thing window there won't be any windows so no need to worry about that shutters stairs that's fine roof cap roof slope roof top grime on the walls we don't want there to be any grime on the walls okay i'm going to create a glass maze squid game glass maze sometimes you can just drag and copy the whole room up let's do this and we'll edit one of the rooms we'll make the interior can we make it glass somehow so let's go over to that can you not edit glass to instakill to make spikes i suppose you could put broken glass ooh that's not a bad idea like have people drop three floors and then they fall onto broken glass or something like that you could consider doing something like that definitely um floors can be now let's make this one like chrome or something actually i do believe that we have a glass floor oh this looks particularly sinister um what is the glass the glass might actually be a separate object hallway of broken wood like they have to go through all of the broken windows and they need to climb through them or clear the broken glass and there's a lot of zombies near there that would be very interesting yeah everything that you can you want to make just like a visual aneurysm for your players i am bad no not that bad it's kind of it's it's really it's fun it's it's quite fun um wrong building which building am i and we need to create a new one we need to create a new one it's good game glass okay so i didn't base it off of the original template so i am in trouble there is this one the right thing that i asked for okay good that is more or less what i asked for but i think that i want this one to be elevated don't you um just to mess with the players give them all specific uniforms and then have doors they're always uh it would be interesting to give them separate colors for their uniforms we've considered doing this as like a team game or something of that nature uh i've thought of it really um i'm kind of limiting myself to just like doing the areas for right now because i know that if i start to think of all kinds of variations on it i'm never going to get anything done but if any of you folks want to help um i guess i can try to think of a way to make the project like a little bit more um open source like you know people could contribute something i could create a template and then we could kind of create approval or something like that uh that would be that would actually be kind of interesting i would like that um let's see this is the third floor so this is not quite deadly yet but it's pretty deadly so we will create a which tile are we on here we are on the second tile in so we need to do the third tile and that's the second here's the third i think that's nope there we go okay so this would be like the lead up you walk up these stairs and then it's somewhat dangerous up here you enter in the jail door because it's bad and then you could leave out here we'll try to keep it from this corner to this corner for every single one of our events just to kind of keep it linear and stable um give them rules but don't enforce them and let it bring out the words so we did do some of that uh really in the first run-through we did of this there was too much cooperation and not enough like backstabbing i felt like um whoops that's not the right one can we create another interior no we've already created the room designation so what we now need to do is create glass walls and that is this interior walls here we go okay so this is creating glass yep that is okay so now we're creating a glass maze which is also going to be a nightmare or enforce it extremely arbitrarily that would be quite funny um oh i have an idea what about one that's a glass maze or you could do one where players just have to actually if anyone has any software that can very easily create maze i should look this up maze making software because as far as i know there's no way of just going i mean ideally you don't want to have to create all of this but if there's a way to quickly create a maze in like a 20 by 20 grid that would be very easy then you could at least copy and paste it over because i found that when i was trying to create a maze on my own i was like this is too easy or too hard um the game of teams there should be a prisoner's dilemma area actually we did manage to recreate some like behaviors of game theory when we went through the first time so that was very interesting let me go ahead and create a 20 by 20 maze generator i'm just using google ah wow this totally exists yep uh you can totally create a maze uh let's see starts at that is particularly interesting i can kind of go off of this design so i just found this exists mazegenerator.net that is wild uh is there any way to make it look nicer inner height top height uh obviously that would work hexagonal my god you could make so many different awful things for people to have to uh oh it gives you the solution to wow that's nice now obviously this doesn't need to be perfect but uh lots of stuff to do put a generator in the room and if you don't get out your die yeah so we were trying to figure out how to get the carbon monoxide working it turns out it works not for player constructed rooms but if these are uh rooms that are already in the server then we might be able to do that actually how can i just kind of drag that image over well i'll let you kind of memorize that and i'll just try to make it look more impressive that i'm doing this yes of course i'm just creating a maze on my own without needing any direction or anything like that it doesn't need to be perfect but the point is that it's just like you know it it's in some way a dizzying array for players probably the easiest thing to do is just create the solution at first and then i know i won't be able to able to have any of you to the games because you've already seen the maze oh no you better stop watching this or you uh you'll be memorizing the solution but just to kind of create a whole mess of solutions for players or a mess of different ideas which probably make some of these a little bit more long and winding um yeah kind of punish people for going in the way that seems intuitive just kind of confuse them more than i really than i really should um [Music] well let's go back to front as well [Music] there we are good very good all right let's maybe make it do something like there we are um i've also found that you know it it doesn't really need to take forever it looks very impressive and i'm i'm a fan of you know kind of making it a spectacle making it exciting for people to watch uh but yeah just like you know however you can confuse and upset your players more is generally speaking going to be the best way to go about this challenge and even if you don't really have uh even if the area doesn't have um any concept whatsoever most of the time if somebody sees it they can think of something interesting that would be done with it like oh there's zombies in it or oh the players need to smash all of the glass before the time runs out or they die um or for example like uh fire is spawning or is there some way to pressure them or like carbon monoxide buildup in the room something like that horrible horrible um horrible sound but you know it's all just part of the kind of legends of the hidden temple type of vibe that we're going for here um there we go maybe i'll have like the least intuitive looking way is that the right one oh like four separate switches well another one that um was chatting with uh private lime on it and he had suggested like uh maybe somebody doing a um like they separated out into teams and then maybe they need to paint a number of walls or something like that that is way too much open ground right there um like that maybe and then make it like this is totally wrong or something like that or they need to come back here and actually this is starting to look maybe too easy but yeah i might need to go more into just like right angles cut them off at faster intervals something like that but yeah that's the uh that's that's the main idea i don't know again this is for very rough ideas they can be polished later on um i might just be making like a very nice view here but that's that's the main idea hmm the other good news about placing these in small segments is that more of them can then be clicked and dragged because they're considered objects in the map maker i used to do a lot of like coding and stuff like that before i made the channel so it was very uh we should probably make these more winding like that yeah here we go is there even an answer to any of this okay that's a good place to start i think that's good all right this is demanding way too much of my mental attention so let's just chat about it um children dying of carbon monoxide and poisoning in the legends of the hidden temple no but it was i mean that was in the spirit of what they were doing basically don't you think like that they were you know trying to upset the children who were on uh legends of the hidden temple i'm very upset now i'm being cornered in this carbon monoxide chamber i think that was uh i think that was the general idea of what they were no maybe i'm maybe i'm uh maybe i'm just you know behind in my ways but when i was a kid you know that's how that's the way they did things they liked to upset the children upset the children and we loved it we loved watching it it was that show was very much fun that was a lot of fun to watch [Music] all right i think we're just about there with this one i've kind of cornered myself here so yeah i haven't really done a great job but you know uh i can go a little bit more into like professional mapping they don't need to be perfect either to work because this one well it just works it just works i could have caught this up to the side a little bit more there we go okay that's a little bit better not by much but it's okay all right um i think that as well there we go all right so enough of a maze to make it more challenging you can make it explode with sprinter zombies when you open the room so we have looked into things like spawning sprinter zombies specifically and unfortunately i haven't we haven't figured out how to make it work um for example like the uh the mod the cheat menu mod is really really useful because you can actually paint fire into the game but we haven't really gotten that happening um fire is hot here we are yes fire is very hot so it's very dangerous to work with fire and we don't want anyone to get hurt um where do we go here now one two sorry i just gotta count one two three four five six so what is it six one two three four five six then it should be the seventh one in or do i bring it over one more yep i thought i did that wrong and there we go okay so then that should be yeah so the although it's floating in midair and it looks kind of messed up and cursed it's it's fine um the building editor looks a little bit better than it's not perfectly functional but it's you know it gets the job done and that was pretty easy to just create a glass maze out of nowhere uh now imagine if hundreds of people created variations on those that would be very interesting don't you think uh we'll make this squid game and maybe we'll even give this its own folder its own folder live bryant lab ryan here we go uh labyrinth prison we'll just call this two because we want it to be it's something similar to that um all right so those were a couple of the other ideas we created door hell i'll just kind of go over what we've created to people who are just joining the stream and we'll look over everything and we'll just kind of make some new decisions from there does the other ge and also feel free to ask any questions i'm sure a lot of people have questions that i may or may not be able to answer um squid mind games yeah we had a lot of physical challenges when we played but i want to make something that's more like mind games so the first one i do is a very simple just four walled arena i want to make it look a little bit more impressive it should be a spectacle so we created this okay this was building number one wave survival zombies will spawn in here and spectators will watch for there's probably not going to be that many spectators because i need them their rooms for players but then the next one was this here we go whoops let's go back to that then we created this awful jail labyrinth which you can hardly even see and hurts my eyes to look at then we created a glass maze so yeah we have a few different things we can elevate them we can not elevate them we can do whatever we want so uh there's more cerebral ideas like making players pick between berry like poison berries and not poison berries but what are your other ideas and i will use them for some of the arenas and again we'll kind of bring this out to the community and also does anybody have any questions let's just read through a little bit right now um make zombies come falling in from higher stories a good idea if we could somehow create or we could spawn them in on a higher floor that would be very interesting and if you have to like watch out or be worried about where they'll come down from randomly or we could destroy the floor in another arena that would be a good idea we could do like a zombie drop another idea was like the fall guys thing where players need to try to avoid the or like spot a pattern that an admin would create and avoid the falling floor um [Music] zombies are on the fire in a room and a few stories up uh drop through the windows fire falling yeah so you could do fiery zombies fiery zombies drop would be even more interesting so we might want to create like a metal cage with multiple levels where zombies at the bottom can't set everything on fire but players are stuck with fire and being chased by fiery zombies on the bottom that is very interesting i actually that is probably the one i want to do next that is that is good as sua swoop k that's a hard name to say thank you very much that is a cool idea uh why is the sky blue the sky is blue because of the way that uh light photons come through the atmosphere and that uh because it's at like the farther end of the spectrum it's like the shorter wavelengths of blue but they're not quite violet yet uh only those ones get through the atmosphere or something like that i can't remember i had to look it up a while back but yeah that's why the sky is blue very impressive right the ocean is blue because it reflects the sky true story true story water is not blue contrary to what i thought you know choice of windows to jump through and potential zombies in one ending clear ah yeah like giving players some sort of horrible choice like something where they need to pick a door and they're running out of time i like that i like that crawler zombie goblet where they crawlers uh if we can spawn them in if we have those kinds of things it's markedmark.exe who was also one of the unfortunate players in the challenge give it up for mark.exe just fine streamer and good friend everybody maybe people dodging someone driving a car in an area assuming they get damaged but ah that would be interesting like if an admin were driving a car car dodge my god yeah the thing is that there's so many cool like god i hope people will just start to maybe i shouldn't be so focused on making the challenges as much as setting up the area where i wanted to just demo this you know um i love instruction on this type of thing and if i could somehow rally the community to just make maps that would really that would really warm my heart that would really butter my biscuit uh you could make it so everyone is slowly bleeding to death but there aren't enough bandages for all of them um yeah like in fl directly inflicting wounds on players testing other things like that these are more like gen like i'm thinking of things like uh that these are all good ideas some of these are better ideas than i've ever had never even had a good idea but also too like what could we just create for a simple map right now i guess to kind of finish off some of these things um maybe a race between a few players along a path for the um hang on a second there's so many good ideas so many good ideas i really want to try out that one where there's fiery zombies i think a fiery zombie drop would be a good one to do next let's start with that uh it could also be very claustrophobic i think that's part of the idea of it um let's base this one off of let's do glass maze we'll create a new template yeah let's just create a new template for it okay so i'm thinking that for the um fiery zombie drop we're going to create a new one we'll just make this one look like a jail as well templates um where did i create i believe that they alphabetize themselves there was a motel [Music] man i really created a lot of building uh squid game didn't i create another one maybe this was we'll create a new one we'll call it uh oh maybe i accidentally edited that one we'll call this one squid game prison because we'll have several different aesthetics for each arena um let's go with the and we kind of need to this is like the sims right here again so i know i need to keep doing the same steps over and over again but it's kind of like i need to create the templates for the buildings first because then it'll allow me to place in some of the items and then i can do the rest of the stuff that i want to do so unfortunately one of the um default ones is not the can i somehow add in another tile i might be able to create my own tile set okay we'll create a new category trim exterior walls is this considered an interior wall i believe it is i think it's this thing where is the jail cell prison prison prison prison prison prison there it is prison okay so the pink color is like um that's for the um i guess like alpha you know what i mean uh we're going to call this one prison person prison here we go prince and princeton and we have to add in another tile set this is fairly intuitive i believe is this walls exterior walls exterior look or is it under location prison no i believe it's a walls interior interior cutaways interior house walls special special walls oh we love special walls i think i'm like right about there but i'm not quite on it it's fine i'm gonna figure it out later uh let's not do this because i don't want to mess with all of my files uh rexy hey thank you very much for the sub much appreciated um [Music] are there any plans on adding silencers into vanilla i don't know honestly i believe they're all covered in the british weapon mod though if you want to try something out uh let's go ahead and we'll make this one into uh you know maybe we'll just do it this way all right i'm not even going to consider these any indoor outdoor areas we're just going to build the whole thing from scratch let's go with an exterior wall exterior wall is this considered no again it's not an exterior wall so again you'll see i'm fiddling with a lot of things some of these things i have to remember them and it just takes me forever but why do we get that right well we'll just surround it all with one of these things to confuse me more later on i'm sure if we do that then can we place these if i do this so now i have this is this considered an object no it's not considered an object not what i wanted exactly you could do a scavenger hunt where each is just a massive warehouse full of boxes and one is we do sort of have uh well we had a maze followed by like a scavenger hunt where players could claim the best items at the end so not everyone is necessarily a matter of life and death some of them are more of a matter of like you're probably gonna die but uh or you you'll probably live but you might not necessarily be able to outdo any of the other players if you don't manage to survive this so there's all kinds of other garbage that we added into the challenges like that um okay this looks terrifying enough uh is this can now can i use the jail interior wall again so yeah i'm an idiot here i should have just done this in another way but at least it gives them like another layer of terror kind of like a jigsaw-ish vibe just think what would jigsaw do wwjd and yeah to put it in another way well as i'm looking for is commun location community ah cloaking silver i will lean on you heavily throughout much of the rest of the stream thank you thank you thank you a thousand pardons a thousand pardons thank you very much this stuff is useful now i'm i'm kind of attached to the structure that i have created actually so i will just kind of do this i can do variation on the maze where the players have to build bridges to certain points oh that would be very fun very fun if i had to make them do some kind of carpentry we've been trying to avoid giving the players any type of materials that could allow them to escape because i fear that people won't follow the directions because i don't trust anyone um but um of course i trust them of course i trust them uh this doesn't look very good yeah i'll probably just need to remake this one a little bit later on yeah i should have fixed that but for right now i'm kind of liking the variation oh this might make it a little bit harder to see though too oh but we also don't want players to be able to see where the zombies are falling it from so let's make this a little bit higher i'll put it up to like floor seven or eight and now there is a max height to these things and i did ask this a while back like will there ever be uh a floor nine and ten and i think they said due to like memory allocations or something in the game i'm not sure if we'll ever end up getting the chance to do that but you never know you never know so uh never say never although i just said it twice i'll make this area a little bit smaller and then whoever's the admin who's up here could spawn zombies into here and then they could start to fall out while they're on fire can we make the lack of a roof floors can we make none up i messed up i was actually messing with the template i believe there i think that's quite honestly that's most of what we have to do with this challenge but how would an admin get up there i'm going to need to build a lot of stairs um yeah thank you messler what would jigsaw do the kevin mccall home alone basically yeah like the home alone traps we're trying to create more or less more or less the truth let's do this i want to make it easier for the admin to get up there but i don't want to make it visible to the players and maybe like a little bit visible to the players we'll put it on floor 5 how about that so let's go down a couple of floors and we'll just add in a stairway zombies could also break through these gates but it's much less likely these might even be unbreakable um let's do a stairway admin could walk up this and then he gets up to the next level yes it's much easier to place stairways from the bottom rather bottom to the top rather than to go the other way because that's just a nightmare uh let's do that and then we create another one and never mind that these make no physical structural integrity sense because trust me it does work in the game when you try to like put it all together but it's it looks silly of course um am i too high up no that we are good um is this the spot unfortunately you usually can trust the appearance of the isometry like geometry you know his mother changes the hazmat to the squid game worker outfit on the ah yes there is actually a squid game mod um there there are many uh many really good ideas out there that i'm just like if i add in the mods i want to try to do everything almost purely vanilla to start just because i know my head will start to there's uh there's so many good ideas there's so many good ideas really is this how many from the whoops i'm not even quite centered there so we go three over so you can tell that there are a lot of like little limitations with this mod i don't particularly love that but it's cool because these it's cool because it is it is cool of course it is why wouldn't it be why wouldn't it be now this is a much more grim aesthetic than the one that i had created before i had all of these player built constructions the last time i did this really a nightmare very much enjoy your soothing commentary thank you for being you uh thank you i'll add in a couple of structural integrity beams i apologize for that i just get so wrapped up in my thoughts when i'm making these maps hmm i'm thinking i want it to be somewhat claustrophobic for the players it might need to be even smaller than this we could make it smaller if we wanted to but um or other thoughts other thoughts on this one feel free share any ideas that you have because i'll i'll use them in the thing um i should also make this look somewhat more cursed there we go it looks like it's elevated by glass all right that looks weird but it's it is what it is it looks like it makes one percent more sense sims one zombie town dlc yeah sort of like that it kind of brings me back to the sims which i just enjoy hey triple g thank you very much for the 300 bits much appreciated yeah those are cursed stairs people have to eat soup and half of them have bleach in them oh that's a good idea i'm trying to think of other ways to set this up a lot of things that are just visually impressive you could kind of build a story around which is uh one of my favorite parts of this whole challenge um did i accidentally here we go that's that uh whoops i should have put that one one over there we go that looks like it makes a little more sense doesn't it doesn't it yeah um as for here we go okay so now we've made some sort of yeah we want it to look good because although things don't really need to make any sense in terms of structural integrity and projects on board it gives me satisfaction if it does look like that there's a story behind them it looks right you know what i mean all right so that's good uh as far as the lower floors we could kind of give this a farther out area this one might just have to be a drop in from the top because i don't want to make the admins job up here more difficult so that is the uh what should we call this event again anything is up for grabs you can name these events as we go we just want to give it the prefix squid game uh zombie fire drop i don't know is there a better name one we could do other versions of them too dead drop uh i like infernal zombie drop now i'll write some of these down because i do like to give them a more poetic prosaic name as we as we go around um i love how cozy this stream about planning ways to torture people in a video game is uh no i i think the players everybody that uh that did it in the last one seemed to be having fun so i was i was glad that people were actually interested in the challenge it's just such a a a good way to make lego building blocks you know what i mean like it was fun to build buildings but making obstacle courses is even more interesting perhaps hellish descent spicy fall i have an idea uh what are what are folks thoughts on an obstacle course if we created an obstacle course of some sort so let's go in we'll go for another one um 20 by 20 i think we want this one to be a bit longer so i'll make this one like uh well i'm gonna go pretty long so let's go like 80 by 20 and that is not the orientation that i wanted 20 by 80. yes that makes sense as in height and north south because north is clearly the tallest of the car general cardinal directions right right hey it's dalto say hi deltas how are you i'm planning on future ways to possibly torture uh us all um [Laughter] hang on a second let me just go give a quick shout out uh there we go do i need to do the at delta there we go oh it did work oh you were doing zomboid how was it uh you did enjoy it ah so even a new jerseyan would enjoy would enjoy uh i would enjoy this good night no it was that i can uh force you to go through i want to show you some of them right now hang on a second i i really um this one will be the uh squid game obstacle course here we go all right so the first one that we've created is wave survival i kind of redid the original wave survival daltons was there for the for it he'll be coming up in the uh in the video we're doing in a couple of days um feel free to do anything on your own i think saturday is the day we'll do em um then i created a jail labyrinth just something horrible that you can bang your head against a wall for then a glass maze then a fire drop and now i'm creating an obstacle course so i wanted to do that thing where everyone was hopping over fences just because i think we should be able to exhaust players to a greater extent i didn't feel as though everyone was tired enough after one of those first events that we did um let's go ahead see here can we do this if we do like that okay that should be enough room and we might even like narrow out the room as time goes by who knows who knows or we could even create something that was like uh oh i have a horrible idea now let's just add in another floor right off the bat all right we're going to force everyone to climb some stairs at the very beginning of the channel uh challenge we want to we also want to be mindful of the fact that adding in a lot of maps like these if we poorly optimize it we can really mess with the game's memories so we want to just be careful with that too i don't think it really ran into a lot of issues but it was a thought it was a thought will players be using traits for the challenges yes the last time that we did it i allowed players to create their own um their own traits so or create their own characters do everything like that i just forced them to drop all of their items before they started and a reason to hide yeah pretty much their needs to well we randomized the way that the traps work because yeah there were a few things that were messed up in terms of the incentives but don't tell anyone about that otherwise it shows that i uh made some mistakes i of course i don't make any mistakes ever i've never made one that would be very foreign to me making a mistake no um no it's quite fun um it brings me back to college a little bit i studied a lot of economics but there's all these like silly um like things like prisoners dilemma uh just kind of things that become more evident when you play games with people um that that weirdly enough apply to this um okay so we can force everyone to go up the stairs when they start um what are some other things make some of the obstacles broken glass windows there is a way to spawn them in i might have to create a custom tile set i really love the idea of making an entire like room of broken glass stuff um i have one thing in mind to start i think we'll just do like this there we go we also might need a way of creating like holes in the ground um no not what i wanted and we'll put some room at the very end for unfortunately stairs can't actually spawn the other way we might want to make this get narrower and narrower as we go because i want to force players to kind of like push past each other i had this idea when we first did it but it didn't really quite work out um just so that like we can force people to kind of push and shove and hit each other as the challenge goes by four and then two so just kind of it looks like a skyscraper on its side um a room full of broken glass i guess we could put broken glass all over the floor dude unfortunately there's no way of looking up broken glass where is it um there are some items street decoration it might have been under street decoration if anyone has the exact spot in the tile set that it is i know i did create some of these myself like i said um or maybe we could create like a wall of hedges that some of them lead to gaps in the floor and players need to start over i don't want all of these things to be lethal all the time otherwise you do lose a lot of players very quickly um you want to be careful with that uh what did i do [Music] i seem to have wanted it why did it like slow down and freeze the rest of my computer is fine has everything crashed uh yeah i created the hidden temple you're right what did i do i think i clicked on something wrong i might have to relaunch the program a moment a moment there we are uh nothing to see here uh ignore this ignore this nothing's wrong of course nothing's wrong just gonna have to destroy these programs for a moment there we go very very good very good nothing is wrong ah there we are there we are um all right so if you if you must know here is the original map if you didn't see that before i think that's pretty much it though that's not really as interesting though uh tools let's go back into building editor here we were something caused the program to crash it's not the perfect program yeah so i did lose some work there that's not great but uh maybe i wasn't even really very happy with that in the first place i didn't even like it to begin with you know we don't need such impressive stairways we'll be fine with that yeah down with stairs down with that's kind of a funny thing to chant uh let's see there we are if we make this okay we kind of need a staging area for the players spinning blade traps when yeah right one would hope for hey rumi what's up remy pleasure uh role-playing with you the other day how are you oh f me uh hang on a second did my entire thing crash ah yeah so apologies apologies my computer crashed for a second how are you happy to uh funny to meet you entirely in rp the other day that was really one of the most cursed things i've ever done in uh zomboid or otherwise but yeah we had a good role play session the other day with um with a lot of the gang i um i spent most of the session in a car with a nurse uh talking about uh home uh and then i uh we met up with remy and that was good and then remy uh was acting like a bible man he was acting like a bible man oh it was horrible to meet you too i really like the other contestants better um of course but no it was it was a lot of fun uh everyone of course everyone had fun um no it was funny though because we had never we never met before that and i was just like so hard into role-playing my character but uh yeah fun was had by all it was it was a good time um hopefully be doing it again soon i've just had so many goddamn projects we should uh we should really get the band back together though but i think i sent you a discord thing so you could hopefully you could do this uh squid game thing with us if you if you happen to be available it would be a lot of fun to have you um let's go ahead and see we've got uh railings railings there's so many goddamn tiles i wish that these things were indexed better or there was a search function i've been complaining or i would complain about this thing all the time in previous streams and i know i'm a bad person but listen to me for maybe a few minutes um no i i really do like the the tile set i just i don't have you have to be really into it to get good at using it uh and i'm not very agile with it oh we could also create some like very cursed looking hedges like this uh like this like why for god's sake why would there be hedges but it looks like evergrand city doesn't it i know it does do please believe me uh here we are we'll put down the floor that's the roof don't ya it's definitely the roof uh we should also probably put down uh what else banisters here we go banisters no that's not what i meant uh sorry looking at this for a second it was great to meet you i thought i was dead at the moment you two dove yes we were considering killing everyone that we met again but we thought that just wouldn't be very interesting for the role play um we did we did have a good uh role play uh fight session with another team where we tried to fake as uh um civil servants um and we well they they brought it upon themselves let's just say it like that they brought it upon themselves of course they did um corrugated metal i swear to god no where was this thing i added in so many titles some of these things are custom tiles that i added into my own map maker so if you do end up using them for your own thing okay i believe it was under fences yes here we go fences this is a little bit closer to what i wanted to do yes a banister always arrives precisely what it means to of course of course here we are um hang on a second so we have barbed wire so they you can't leave her they'll die um here we are oops uh didn't do that uh there we go good all right that's i think that's good enough hey everything bagel how are you my friend uh triple g thank invitation to it i um i'm trying to like you know keep it uh i want to keep it quiet enough that i can know what i'm doing when i start to try to organize it but also i want to talk about it enough so that i can get help from people because i always need help i know some of these orientations aren't perfect but it's good enough for me um let's see other stuff we could do an incredibly small window that the contestants need to dive through we need a maze or a temple we do have mazes in there we do have mazes indeed um we want to also add in other walls i mean if they dive out of the glass windows they kind of bring their deaths upon themselves so that would also be rather funny right why am i the only one laughing why am i the only you know that's pretty uncomfortable when you start i'd say that was the weirdest thing when i first made a video i think it was just like i'm it's not really like any other form of entertainment making videos and film and whatnot like at least when people shoot a film they have a crew like yeah that was a great scene peter jackson or whoever happens to be directing the film when you're making a video it's just kind of like uh hey everybody uh my name's uh i forgot my name like and then you have to restart the video and it's not good yeah i'm very bad at this i'm still still haven't gotten particularly good at this whole video thing let's set it in another level of wallach though look at that look at all of the wallace there oh love seeing some good wall gotta run go do something for now but good luck hey good good to see you thank you for this is fun here we go yeah i was going i was debating on putting music in the stream i just decided not to uh because i i've been procrastinating at a lot of things lately here we go okay um i guess we need some like starting line from which to release all of the contestants but i for one found it extremely impressive to watch a bunch of people vaulting over uh a series of fences so let's go ahead and see if we can go back to our personally created fences fences fences i found were one of the things that weren't really in the tile said i'd like to release my own kind of pack for this type of thing because they're really there's so many things that i found a little unintuitive here we go okay game objects unfortunately these all need to be placed as game objects so that is its own chore and kind of task you can make your own maps in zomboid now oh it's been out forever it's been out since um sorry i'm a bit of a snob when it comes to this kind of thing because i've been doing it for uh since everyone was a baby actually maybe if you're ten or or like eight but i don't think that many eight-year-olds watch my channel now this was out for a good amount of time a good amount of time it's been around it's been around i like this and i like this um but yeah i don't know i mean i've i've been playing the game for a while so i think it's only fair that it's only fair that i show uh some of the uh dev tools and things like that to people as they come into the game uh let's do this so well one thing that we found is that people actually vault over two fences at once i'm not sure if this has really been taken out of the game in any meaningful way yet but uh it is there if you want to exploit it for now um hey korma fight thank you very much for the sub much appreciated and rest thank you very much um other stuff four score and say yeah so i don't know what other what are other things that you think would make for interesting obstacles throughout this challenge there's a few things that i forget like how to delete floor segments so i'll see if i can get some of that stuff back in but i just find that it's rather impressive to watch people uh get started on a starting line i always thought that was interesting i'm just happy that i can come back to map making in some way that's um no i really do enjoy this stuff i quite honestly i thought that this was how the channel would kind of uh hit its stride a while back um this was before i did the all negative traits challenge and that was kind of the thing that my channel my channel uh shall we say blew up over uh but i was expecting it to be map making i thought people would enjoy the architecture uh some some folks it really hits close to home though vaseline god thank you very much uh let's see weapon store so beeps abate people with a weapons tour sign uh one thing that would be kind of fun would be to have um [Music] i have an idea what if we do like carpentry where is it carpentry we do like a maze of boxes so we do something like this where players have to well we'll leave them some space for a starting line like this but i want them to kind of have to [Music] run through these boxes and i might strategically place lewd into the boxes they don't know but they need to check some of the boxes and if they do they might be rewarded the reward will be theirs wrong side whoops there we go like that so now they need to kind of zigzag their way in and out of the boxes but and i know this is a little bit boring but i just want to get the base idea down so they have to go and then they get through uh let's see and actually in that case we'll also need to add in a jail as there's always a jail on everything in this map why are there jails everywhere oh no uh we're also going to struggle with the starting line too we could just make everything a jail door or we might want to make these normal doors actually in the on the contrary um do i have normal doors because it is quite impressive to watch a lot of players open a normal a completely normal door to begin with but we'll also see if players can tell that that's the starting okay maybe i messed this challenge up i don't want it to feel cheap and unfair but i want to reward players who see these things you know like if you have a very subtle knowledge of zomboid and you can or if you have good eyesight if you have eagle eyes i want you to be ahead because of your eagle eyes [Music] barbed wire tops on fences to for people to move around ah if we had like barb um barbed wire or some sort of something that's dangerous what is it dangerous to move over do we have broken glass i'll have to look for the broken glass in the tile set i don't i believe i was making maps before they actually created broken glass for the game or it might have been as it was only coming out let's go ahead and just um [Music] no let's enter the tile set shall we and see if there's anything else that we can add in uh tiles here we go now one thing that you can also do is import other tiles that don't happen to be in that tile set over there because there's quite a lot of them uh i'm not sure if there's if there's if anyone knows off the top of their head what the broken glass ground is i will do it otherwise i'm probably not going to spend time here uh looking looking through the entire tile set and just trying to figure out what the broken glass is or what would be a good name for it or what would be a couple of words that you would search for for that now there is this cool construction equipment yeah maybe shattered glass shattered glass usually it's like debris or something like that it's more general tile sets because they try to conserve memory a little bit this is like a skill to learn i suppose we have trash trash could be trash windows could be under windows windows windows windows windows windows windows there is no window huh interesting um control and f glass the one thing we can't uh can we control f yeah there unfortunately is no control f function here either so this is what i mean like there's a couple of features that the tile set or the map maker is lacking where it's like oh it would be really nice if i could just control f that underneath a keyboard ah look here we go we have some broken glass kinds of things that would be nice um maybe this is under okay no those are just normal things so these are things that are built into it so let's go ahead and do that uh no we need to create that as its own separate tiles so again now here's where i'm gonna go uh i need to go do some of this on my own time but i'm gonna go ahead and do let's do broken windows and now maybe players will have to clear out glass and if they're too rash and they get a rash then they'll need to clear this stuff out of course they will so let's put this is this east let's just go west and look you can even put it on to the tile you want and that's so nice don't you like that i love that it's really good um see i'll just do them in groups of four because these things seem to come in groups of four and i think it only makes sense to do that too can we raise the percentage at which we see these yes amazing so we can make see them smaller and larger what a beautiful day this has been now we can place the broken windows as tiles in the game world as objects and this is obviously the fastest way other thing we can do is place groups of them so i won't do this problem yeah maybe i will i could place them two at a time if i were being smart but i'm not going to be smart because i just don't know how it affects i rarely spawn in game like i usually spend my time in this editor i don't want to give you the impression that i've published a lot of these maps i have i do somewhat know what i'm doing i have some idea of what's going on around me uh but here we go no not that there we go all right so two layers of broken glass i just i don't know other kinds of stuff that will happen in here um put the bait near all of those yeah we could put in like some more kind of fluid or something like that but this is the general gist of kind of what i would want for an obstacle course trying to think of what else i would do i think i'll put in a couple of more sometimes i just kind of like look through the tiles you can also put in random stuff like trees that you would never expect uh one thing for example is that you could put in trees here like this is totally weird to just put in a bunch of trees but i'm gonna do it anyway because that's what this is supposed to be about let's just put in a lot of trees because why not because this is an obstacle course and of course we can plant trees on metal corrugated uh metal it makes it more difficult for people they could trip they could fall they could do any number of things uh we also don't want to block the admins line of sight because i want to kind of create positions from which you can watch this whole thing um when you're on it but yes ideally people will fall through the trees uh and hurt themselves you could also create a place where a bunch of zombies are like hidden in the woods and i've seen all kinds of cool things like somebody had uh in one of the old videos that i did on this stuff had what have they done they had created like a an apartment complex where there were actually trees growing up on the roof and it looked neat because they looked like planter boxes and you just don't see that kind of thing in the rest of the game um empty cabinet with a bunch of heavy stuff could be good could be good oh like something that they have to move physically hmm hey v volfin thanks very much for the prime or wolfen i guess wolfen with the two vs hv duty daddy-o thanks very much for the prime much appreciated took me long enough um hmm other stuff other stuff i guess they could kind of yeah i guess you could like test players on their knowledge of stuff like do you trip in a uh in a hedge i don't honestly remember off the top of my head um [Music] hmm i'm just trying to think of other things that like mess people up when they walk through them we just put a bunch of random yeah we could put like televisions uh fixtures appliances television here we go so now they have to pick up a television which is kind of a pricey way to spend one's time right um unfortunately these aren't on the ground so we would need to create a new tile set with them all on the ground yeah we could just create like a wall of tvs that people have to get through because what's worse than running into a tv when you're just having a great day uh of course of course they'll have to pick up a tv here yes everyone will feel fear and not feel fear the uh the tv barricade uh let's put it somewhere where i don't want to punish the winner if somebody gets ahead of them all they should they deserve the win they shouldn't have to pick up a tv at the end i'm going to put a wall of tvs here that will upset them very good this is a stupid uh obstacle course now i dare say it i dare say it i guess we could put the antique televisions that way we don't have to deal with like floating tv madness which just looks a little odd though floating tvs are also their own uh unique opportunity i've ever thought of redoing the thousand colonist challenge in rim world they got destroyed by the high secret i've thought of it because uh they optimized the memory in room world with the clothing layers with the uh with the new oh what if we had like three layers of tvs it would be so interesting to watch the players try to negotiate this like will they work together or something like that um we could also spawn in a bunch of zombies in some area yes three just three layers of antique televisions oh my god this challenge is just getting weirder and weirder and think about how difficult it would be to do all of this with the admin controls that's why it's so much better to do this on the map maker ah curtained window curtained windows that are oh that would be good unfortunately i think i have to place the windows individually do i have to do that um let me see windows do i have broken windows i don't actually have shattered windows as an option uh there is a way to do it in the tile set but i would have to go look up some more stuff and it's yeah hmm okay let's get some more ideas um can i put a car alarm there i could put in a car alarm in there but what would come to the most for the most part we want to have really tight control over where the zombies are uh so there is that as well as a as a phenomenon going on here um [Music] curtains windows yeah i don't know what other things do you think guys think would be interesting to see thrown into this uh challenge i might do uh maybe one or two more rooms i now i feel like i have enough to get myself started i really wanted to do that i'll try to organize myself in some way that i could maybe uh uh spur the community into action because i think this would be a really fun project i don't know if i could really do the whole thing myself but i think it would be fun to kind of create a contest maybe if there's like a prize or something like that or i don't know like just an opportunity to play the game or something like that or uh i don't know i'll see what i got um maybe uh we can get something cool going um is it in oh yeah we should also just not have a complete dead end at the end of the hallway we should have like uh we should have some sort of reward at the end there so that players uh it's worthwhile for them to have done all of that we'll put a door and then a floor and then we could put stairs unfortunately there's these are the only orientations for stairs is this the spot is this the spot uh it also works sort of okay we could do that um place paper notepads and writing implements on the map oh so they have to write something there's so many like more cool ideas for uh like psychological intrigue in this whole thing [Music] make them race for medkits [Music] i don't know there's a lot of uh kind of crazy stuff we could do crazy stuff this looks pretty weird to begin with but i'm liking it i haven't really shown you guys my uh well i want to save that as a surprise for the video but uh there's a a particular maze i want to make yeah i'm not gonna i'm not gonna show anything footage from that that'll be coming out on saturday that was super fun to do but uh that'll be coming um make them get bit so it's a race against time oh that would be kind of cool that would be kind of cool like you're all bitten you're all infected and then they had to race for the cure i would like that i would support that i would be about that fences here we go this is what i wanted and now we can get the barbed wire fences so that people can't just leave the arena that it was horrible to have people just leaving the course like wait where are you going we got kidnapped you and it was very dystopian very dystopian there we go okay we could do that for the back wall and maybe like oops uh whoopsie daisy whoopsie daisy maybe one of these and yes this is it this is it good enough for me i mean little passageways and things that connect the courses uh we could do later on but i think that's about as far as i care to go with that let's add in a few more of these here and i believe that and then some of these some of these things are a little difficult to work with like that there we go and i want to make one of these segments so i do this oops two three four five three four five six seven there we go and there we go okay now it looks like evergrand city except you people will be tortured there uh all right that's good yeah it's good um can i use any of the resources from the facility seven map i do not know that what would be kind of cool it's like you know that level in half-life 2 where you're trying to escape from the uh from the city police i i think that would be a really cool area to recreate but that's uh maybe doing something like that that feels like a like an old broken down city would be a nice uh final thing for the the last squid game i always find that mixing and matching the arenas creates some sort of interest where each one has its own theme uh but i think a lot of these things would be great to just kind of again export out to the community and i find that after how many of these have i created now it's been only my god it's been less than two hours and i've already created one two three four five of these things and they're totally different events from what i did when i was doing all when i was doing all of it just through in-game carpentry room in total darkness with a killer ah there's so many good ideas a bunch of trees ah a total tree room okay hang on a second that is that is quite cool that is quite cool yes um all right that makes me want to create another one now again it's half motivation and it's half just what is my common sense going to tell me is is smart to do let's have virginia pines just torture absolute torture of virginia pines farming farming uh let's do with these trees uh here we go and the fun part is that we can create all kinds of variation and you just do this kind of i'll probably create more than i there we go you don't really want them to double up on each other but if we do something like this and we just make a horrible room where people are [Music] upset then that's the best for everyone everyone will like that the more ups the funny thing was that i found that the more upset players were about the challenge the more fun that they were having which is just a great a great way of doing it maybe like some other something else that blocks line of sight that just forces players to do their best with a limited area that they can see something like that [Music] all right i'll probably just fill in every single space but i just want it to be disorienting other thing is making it so that an admin can see it all but i think you can just turn on settings so that they can see the players that is disorienting to look at but it's cool though you know like it's it's a striking appearance that i think i noticed that when we did the like hellish prison when a lot of folks were popping in on the stream and i think uh like at first glance anything that's exciting like that i think is uh is an exciting reason to make a video anything that's kind of a spectacle like that i've always enjoyed that it's always fun to put on a spectacle always fun to take part in one um so anyway that's why i'm excited about this whole challenge let's see if we can delete that there we go and maybe i'll finish this one off on my own i could make bigger blocking mechanisms and stuff like that put a yeah bait at the middle so that they said that they come to that hey ether renegade thank you very much for the sub much appreciated um where is the center i think that these four are the center yeah so we could put in i think we'll just have one like go-to thing that players can count on like crates contain loot would be a pretty good rule one time i put a gun in a bookshelf it's like a player something for players to find hmm there we go that could also trap players as well there we go okay good um vegetation ornamental vegetation there's so many things to work with though i really encourage you guys to go ahead and check out this uh atlas mapping tool i'll try to put things on the discord for this um if you folks aren't in the discord i've uh regrettably not been as active as i wanted to lately i just kind of was having a nice time with my family at home um over break and a little bit i i needed a break uh i'd been making a lot of stuff and i just wanted to make it feel more fresh feel more new but i'm actually really excited for the new year of stuff um so go ahead and check out the discord and i'll try to post some updates in there i definitely know that over some time over the next month or so i don't want to say an exact date before i really have it and i really want to roll it out to like patrons and channel supporters too because they've just been really helping out for a long time and i i really owe it to them um this will kind of be rolling out all these new events but i'm excited to start them um and i i hope you are too i'm really happy that people are into zomboid this much now it's uh it was surprising how many players logged in but i was also like well we did see it coming you know there was a big uh there was a big influx back in like whenever it was that the game was originally created and then it kind of went quiet for a few years and then i started creating stuff on it it's nice to see everybody uh everyone getting along and nice to see everyone getting along but yeah all right um yeah so yeah you're gonna miss chord if you aren't on the discord so go go ahead and check that out ah this one looks actually quite nice i like this a lot i i think it's it's pretty safe to trust that players won't just like eat their way out of the arena for the most part they don't do that and we tell them that if they break the rules that they'll be disqualified and you know shot as soon as they uh as soon as they leave i i think the glass makes it kind of tempting oh god but it kind of has this like terrarium aesthetic and i like that about it the glass looks futuristic as well which kind of reminds me of squid game um we can't add on a glass roof but it would be cool if we could get some weather effects in here as well uh it doesn't matter much better everyone needs a minute to step away and enjoy the enjoyable things even if your job is religious yeah even if your job is creative you you can get burned out after a while um i've been living in an empty house actually lately and i've just found it's it's given me a lot more of the old joy for the things that i do actually i was really looking forward to this like i wouldn't have gotten enjoyment out of this if you asked me a week ago and i think it was because i've been so focused on moving and i don't know just kind of getting myself set up where i'm at we don't want the program to crash again uh but no i'm i'm in i'm in a very good place right now um let me see uh that sounds darker than a i'm in a good place i mean i swear to god uh let's see squid game what would be a fitting name for this uh terror orion [Laughter] oh oh we're gonna have a lot of fun with this terrarium it's the terrarium ah isn't that the bee's knees it's the bee's knees it is it is that is the coolest arena this could this would have to be one of the later ones it'd be very difficult to see the players though i might have to create like a glass platform that an admin could stand in uh stand on up top but we'll have to work out that stuff later that's minor stuff though hmm extraterrestrial [Music] excursions i think um probably the easiest thing though i mean at the same time like you know it's it's better than a job where your body is actually i think jobs where you're physically burned out are the easiest to uh stay on but let's go ahead and do this i want to just add in a few more things like i want to add in some of those fences i've added in some kind of dystopian aesthetic for some of these they don't really need to be perfect i've already said all of this but you get the gist i if anything comes out of this i really hope you guys try out making your own maps i think it's very fun and rewarding and if you have a creative bone i'm trying to think of other stuff people have done this who have done this in the past [Music] i know there's a lot of really good map makers on the on the forums who are super into this but map making can be really addicting the the main thing that you'd want to do is make sure that you're pretty organized when you get started and partly i'm guilty of this just because you know i'm i to a great extent the reason i'm doing this is to entertain you more than actually to make a map um though i think it will end up being in the map eventually i will say that it's halfway to entertain you and also to entertain me i think it's a lot of fun but um what was i saying i i really think that the the best power that i'll have here is to just kind of get the word out on it so i hope that people check it out let's see i want to make that kind of symmetrical if you're very if you like things to be very systematic though i think you'll have a good time with it um and we'll do that and that some of them sometimes it's draw order has like weird stuff that goes on you need to be kind of careful of that so like if we do this then we do this does that appear on top yes so now that appeared so there's a couple of little weird things to keep an eye out for such as that but there's also ways to just i think copy and paste a whole area of things so for example if i do this and i do copy i'm pretty sure that i can paste that and um no may be a way of copying and pasting that either that or just making it into its own mega tile like something larger
