of predicting that both bishop b7 d6 knight pd7 bish b7 castles and c7 are gonna happen in some some order and here you did play bishop b7 so i think we are going to see you going okay i'll castle as well okay see if the hedgehog's going to come out bishop e7 similar to what he said was his plan okay i was debating what i want to go for c4 is it true that you're just playing everybody in a simul familiar with his uh ideas in the hedgehog as well at least at a at a later age so so here what would you play and then i'll tell you what you did at age ten um i would i think i would go d5 as black that's what you did at age ten as well see i'm getting a little bit suspicious that we're just playing you and not you at age ten i i will tell you that the other obvious move castles uh basically just blunders a piece to d5 by d6 i was planning this yep yeah uh which means that by process of elimination d5 pretty much has to have to happen um and as i said before minus 10 makes a lot of positional mistakes but not not that many obvious tactical mistakes fair enough so andrea try to use that to your advantage yeah i knew i was going to get an isolated pawn i'm deciding whether i want to trade or i want to allow him to take i i feel like he wouldn't take my pawn but i don't push this pawn too often so i could be i'm a little bit worried about this nightmare so i'm considering so andrea's worried about knight before she's considering a3 here that's reasonable um a3 is a very typical move in isolating types of decisions magnus says reasonable life yeah i don't know how i feel when you say the word reasonable but it's better than uh what i think was educational mistake instructive instructive mistake yeah i do like reasonable better so d takes oh wow we didn't castle uh d64 i guess is okay i would have preferred castles since you can take on c4 later you cat so you played d take c4 bishop takes c4 and do you know what you said before there before there would you suggest that white should not allow taking on c4 and we want to trade on d5 first or it's okay to also keep the pressure as white i probably wouldn't take on d5 because after knight d5 you have to deal with uh the bishop yeah okay if knight d5 queen d5 the queen is unassailable on d5 i would probably unless there are tactics with rookie one knight d4 rook hp4 okay um but i would say generally speaking it's better to keep the tension okay so our uh candidate moves would be a three rookie one or rook c1 a3 rook you wanna see one nice okay so in this position you castled and your ten-year-old said i castled exclamation mark watch training videos to learn more so for those of you watching if you want to learn more about this castling make sure to do command play magnus sure uh i was uh all about debating on pushing h3 first and then doing it or but i feel like i h3 isn't necessary because if they play here i play here maybe say the move so magnus can follow yes okay good yeah i'm trying to decide whether i want to keep this diagonal in case of like a bishop d6 and a knight e5 or if i'm not worried about knight h5 i want to go to e3 and then if the okay i'm gonna push h3 okay magnus what would you play here as black um i would think of rooks yet that's exactly what you played okay i will probably match him as long as i'm not blundering my bishop which oh this is the issue with the isolated pawn because i can't do queenie two but i have queen d3 that's turning knight takes and i i would say that i didn't love h3 um you do have the isolated pawn on d4 which means that the games are usually going to be better for for black the static factors of the positions are are better for black which means that you have to um you have to sort of match um those factors with um the energetic play um okay so in in that sense h3 feels a little bit a little bit slow to me it's by no means a mistake it's just that it doesn't 100 percent meet the balance of the um of the position what do you fall into the educational inaccuracy category okay great so what would you just would have played like rook c1 instead or um i'm not going to give you too many moves okay i don't know i was trying no no i cuz i can't play rook c1 in this position anyway because they're threatening this so i would say roxy ricci one is definitely one week in and out we can analyze later but i mean here my black has a threat so i can't play any of the moves that it could have been up so i'll tell you that there's one move here it's okay no hints don't give me hints i would say uh no i'm speaking in general terms okay any any um a player who plays a lot of this iqp uh sort of structure meaning isolated queen pawns uh pawn structures they would make this move much automatically here well you see that's a good that's a great thing since i never played these structures whatever with an isolated exactly exactly so you make the move h3 because you're used to playing in the london right uh because then you would usually need to tuck the bishop on h2 because there's a there's a pawn on e3 but when you go for c4 the positions are are quite different and uh there's more of a demand for more more aggressive uh aggressive play see that is making me think about another i'm gonna give you i'm gonna give you a hint where were my magnus where were my hints wait you played really well so obvious but maybe this isn't it d5 d5 i'm going to tell the d5 doesn't work because the knight a5 you just lose the pawn oh the yeah and then bishop a2 and then they take so why did it go h3 yeah in case there was a knight h5 so i could go bishop h2 and that gives you a very good hint for what your next move should be it does but but you're threatening knight takes d4 um that was a very good hint very good it's awesome is that is there a similar move to page two there's a bishop panic you got to say she's three but that does nothing why would i want to move my it it's a move that is very similar to bishop h2 and it deals with black's threat of going knight takes d4 followed by rook takes c4 let's see how it deals with it so if play bishop d3 they take what am i gonna be threatening well so andrea when she calculates she says bang bang so just in case that was confusing it's okay it doesn't bother me uh but what what the 95 i'm so embarrassed that i can't see you after knight takes here i don't like knight takes or queen takes but i'm gonna i want to find this line okay what would be what would be the mirror of bishop h2 the mirror of bishop h2 what do you mean the mirror say they're equivalent okay i'm going to play here just so that i don't play the move that he hinted i would say that bishop a2 was maybe a little slightly slightly more accurate since it's um more flexible makes sense makes sense uh the bishop needs to go to a2 regardless well now i know exactly for later moves so magnus guess what you played here uh knight a5 probably knight h5 uh-huh oh my god why are you not like coming uh it's decentralizing so are you into crypto no kidding very very niche joke right there um [Applause] i would say uh yeah it's a decentralizing move bishop h2 is something you might want to do anyway and it just leaves the knight hanging and gives up control of the center for no reason i would say um i probably need to go back now um knight f6 maybe bishop d6 is an idea i don't particularly particularly like it but that would be the only justification trying to take control of the f4 square yeah knight h5 was quite a waste just made my h3 seem like it actually served some purpose it did serve a purpose now it did but initially you know the mind of -10 better than i do apparently exactly so so here you played h6 oh nice one magnus okay uh i'll tell you why age six is a move that is wildly disgusting to me if you were starving you were sleep deprived you were dehydrated i wouldn't play exactly so um a move that well both queen d3 and bishop a two can serve the same purpose which is to set up a battery on the long diagonal from from b1 to h7 uh and when you do play h6 you severely weaken your king side because you would love to play g6 later on there h6 probably means that in case the white bishop goes to b1 you have to play g6 anyway and then you've really created a pretty pretty bad uh weakening then you can imagine sacrifices on e6 followed by the bishop sorry the hanging on on g6 it's really it may not be bad concretely in this exact position i think it probably is but uh conceptually it's really really poor you know well the first time you hinted moving this bishop i wasn't gonna do it but now it's just too juicy are you gonna do it i have to move him but and i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm curious why a2 b1 is better than b3 c2 i know b3 would block my pawn but i wouldn't want to use the b1 square because i don't like i mean i guess i can move my rook first maybe um but i think just i'll go a2 just because it seems more positional bishop e3 bishop d3 was completely reasonable as well it's it's good that you you don't take my burden that you actually think for yourself as well that's that's great okay and your turn to the tempo i'm assuming if he might play queen d6 but so this has improved -10's position a lot of with the pawn again on d4 against the pawn on e6 white has some space advantage and trading of pieces is generally good for black also bringing it closer to an end game where uh the white pawn on d4 might be a weakness so i will try to avoid the queen magnus you made another reasonable move here what advantages basically besides uh defending against mate in one uh it takes control over the e4 square um and it enables a possible rook lift with rook f6 to g6 later on okay um but for now it's not clear to me whether the advantages or um the disadvantages of that move will go way more yeah i feel like i mean it created some holes around the king and i would like to occupy these holes so that's why i'm leaning towards ideas like this i also have some more attacks i'm always scared to push the f pawn when there's makes an e backwards pawn but uh that's um that's very reasonable so you have to sort of go by piece by case basis there just know whether you should go for it or not okay how are you gonna protect against mate oh very juicy move here i know magnus sees it did i blunder yes you after you roasted it like that so you're telling me so queen i was i was just wondering why you were never mentioning the move knight x g6 because that's tim's like the most obvious so i was on the right track and then you tried to throw me off because you were scared i was gonna beat you she's on to you magnus okay you know what i'm just gonna do it i don't care andrea andrea i don't care to the very least uh everything's protected and then after all a minus 10 has some weak squares in in his camp as well yeah it still looks really ugly it does look very intimidating so i understand why you're looking for outside tactics andre yeah i took this one way too fast i think i was just fed up with this game well i thought that i could follow up with some bishop takes here but then i just blundered my knight for no reason and i thought i was going to win this night because i looked at king h7 i did not look at king gatechat so i think it's just yeah king h7 um five queen of four check was also winning king hd yeah i just saw this check now um usually tactics work work out for player house to save for king yeah i think i should just resign i think it's pretty losing are we resigning to magnus at age 10 uh i guess we could play on but i think it's brutal because i'm gonna be down material they're just let's let's see if i take care whatever i love that the points on the play magnus app are called brain power because there's this song that is very popular on twitch that is also called brain power did you do this on purpose uh no i'm unfortunately not that big a meme
