Hey, welcome to Sorted. We're a group of mates from London out to find exceptional things in food that actually make a difference to your life or just to make you laugh. Two of us are chefs. Don't worry, the rest of us normal and everything that we do starts with a suggestion from you lot. [MUSIC - JADED, "PANCAKE"] I'm a pancake chick, but I take the cake. I'm gooey in the middle, baby let me bake. Hello and welcome to Sorted Food. This is our fridge cam. Today is another London's best. You know how this works. Three of us, three different cross points and this time, a bunch of donuts. I feel like a donut is a perfect way to start the day. Can I get six? Art. Lamington. If you think these look great, wait until you see what we've ordered. Ah. Creme brulee. Art. Flavor and technique. You can't be [INAUDIBLE]. Art for the color blinds. The food is amazing. Why wouldn't we come here? Oh, hey. Oh, hey. Oh, hey. All right boys, shall we do an unveiling? I'm feeling very confident. Mine is uniquely different and tasty. I'm feeling a bit inferior, but I think my traditional donuts might win them over. Welcome to Shoreditch where people think you're weird if you don't have a beard, even the ladies. Where 80% of all conversations include the words, tapered chinos and Bon Iver. Where all haircuts start with a 0.5 on the side. I know what you're thinking. This is a skin fade, it's different. I've picked the Dum Dum Donutterie and assumes us all the donuts were there, I knew it had to be mine. It smells amazing. [MUSIC PLAYING] So this isn't special treatment because we're in [INAUDIBLE].. We had to pre-order my donut. This is hands down better than I ever could have planned and I'll have to explain to you why later. Oh yeah. [INAUDIBLE] I don't know why there's a D on the end of it. That is not a donut. I really wanted to say, shut up Ebbors, you donut. They actually run out of room and didn't write donut, they just wrote D. No, it just says, shut up Ebbors you D. Yeah. I think it looks like a delicious cake. Oh. Well, if you're so confident, why don't you show us what's in your bag that's got a pig on it. It has a pig on it and in addition to my donuts, I had the delicious bacon sandwich this morning. My place is a place I've been to a couple of times before. It's St. John restaurant. Not only is this place good for donuts, it also does the best bacon sandwich I've ever eaten and I'm going to see if I can get Mike to buy me one. [MUSIC PLAYING] Guys, Ben and Jay, this is going to take some beating. It's probably the best traditional donut you can get. Beat that, Jay. Now, that is a donut. Where? I know for a fact that size doesn't matter, but-- [LAUGHTER] Well, look, I know Jamie's argument here. Jamie's argument here is this, this is a traditional donut. It's filled with vanilla custard and it's perfectly formed. It's perfectly sized. That's what you want with a donut. I don't know how you're going to beat that. I can definitely beat that. I've gone for sourdough donuts. He knows I love a bit of sourdough. OK, so I'm also in Shoreditch, a real foodie hot spot. It's got things like [INAUDIBLE] bagels, Indian grocery stores and restaurants, but more specifically right now, one of about six places you can pick up a Crosstown doughnut and they are to die for. Set up by two guys, Adam and JP. One is a Kiwi. One's an Aussie. They worked together. They founded this in London and it's kind of unique because they use a sourdough dough in their donuts. [MUSIC PLAYING] All right, instantly, Ebbors has taken one up from James. You just love novelty, don't you? You hate food, you love novelty. That's what I'm getting from this. Right. But one donut, one donut. You've got to pick one donut to submit. Today I'm going to go for this one because it is their special of the day and it's actually got jam in the middle, James. Shut up, shut up and eat my donut. It looks more bready than cakey on the inside. That's because it's a donut. Every good cake is put on a cake board. Ebbors, if you don't shut up, I'm going to punch at least four of your donuts. That is not as sweet as I thought it was going to be. It is bready. I'm not getting donut from it. Just saying. I'd prefer we make these videos with people who aren't chefs. Has it got a hole in the middle? It's got a hole. Yeah. Yeah, it's a donut. Well, that changes everything. It doesn't. What you do get is jammy, creamy, custardy feeling and golden bits, which are tasty. That was great. Shall we eat a donut? Right of the bat, that is light as anything. OK, well, there's no denying that that is a good donut. The crunch and the sugar on the outside, awesome fluffy middle and a well filled donut. They are not shy on the filling. There is nowhere to hide with this. It's just super traditional. There's nothing extravagant about it, but it's just everything is done really remarkable. I mean, it's a good donut. But does it stand out from any other donut that you've had? Much like yours, freshly made every day, but it's a sourdough dough. And in particular, we're going for this one, which is their daily special. Black Forest plum and apple compote. Cheers. Cheers. Great jam. The dough isn't quite as good as the St. John one, but I really love the filling and the topping. I'm surprised how different that is from James's donut. It's really good though. And you're right, that glaze and the jam is amazing. The glaze is sweet and that jam is almost curd with how tart it is. It's obviously a jam, but it's quite a tart plum flavor with a sweet glaze. I like it. So let's talk money. Now I don't want to shock anyone, but I've got a feeling mine might be the most expensive. So in total, this is 55 pounds. If you've got enough people to share it with, I guess it's not bad, is it? What about mine? I'm going to say-- It's artisan. Oh, you put artisan in front of it. Oh, you've just doubled the price. I don't know if I really care about what you think. I'm going to say if you paid more than 1.99 for that, you're an idiot. My donut was 2 pounds and 50 pence. Oh. Well, there you go. I think it's worth that. I would pay 2.50 for that. I might take out my idiot comment. On reflection, I think that maybe that's the going rate for a good donut and that's what I should be prepared to pay. OK. Now, you see why I bought six. Works out cheaper if you do. Plus I've got more friends to share these with back at the studio. How much [INAUDIBLE]? He doesn't have more friends. If this is 2.50, I reckon you've got to be topping 3.50. 3.50. You guys are good at this game. There's a lot more going on and they are 3.50 each or 3 pounds if you buy six. It's probably good to buy six because they're 3 pounds each and I think they're probably worth 3 pounds. So did we find London's best donuts? I think we found three of London's best donuts. I think they're all amazing. Two strong donuts and an amazing cake. Ah, you are such-- Basically, what should we be looking at next? London's best-- You decide.
