London's Best Fish And Chips?! | SORTEDfood

[Music] today we're in Northwest London to seek out something that us Brits are greater fish and chips we've each been given a budget I've got 10 pounds 20 pounds I've been given 40 pounds and we're gonna meet up together in Primrose Hill to compare all three [Music] [Applause] so I come to a book in Campton who are these self-proclaimed new-school fish and chips and have some really amazing platters and interesting breadcrumbs so I can't wait to try them [Applause] that was such an epic thing to do [Music] [Applause] I'm gonna be going there it's Papi's of Camden which has been going for the last few years and is supposed to do incredible fish and chips I'm gonna be ordering battered Cod large chips and maybe something for me because I'm a little bit hungry and a battered sausage place thank you so much right I have my fish and chips Todd's head's not even looking at the lens Edie [Music] I've come to the seashell of listen Grove where they sell Dover sole and it's on the bone sounds really Chevy and I think it's perfect for my budget hello I've been told that you have Dover sole I have a Dover sole and a large chess piece I have my fish and chips look at that it looks amazing I cannot wait to show the guys I'm now going to make my way back to compare them with the others Oh [Music] I'm just so excited I think you're as excited for Dobis old as I am for a battered sausage so far more money equals more packaging okay boys ten pound budget this is Cod in panko breadcrumbs in a Malaysian curry fish and chips so that is a ginger ketchup and this was ten pounds exactly it's unlike any other fish and chip shop chip I've ever had the ketchup is really tangy not spicy at all not all over sweet potatoes there's flavor through it I think it must be in the bread crumb throat yeah it's like slight spice and a bread crumbs the fish tastes of some kind of herb curry flavors with fish chips works perfectly let's ramp you up 20 pounds 14 pounds box number one that's a nice fish and chips shop chips box number 30 [Music] classic looking card with some extra odd bits I spent 14 pounds to pound 30 which when I'm a battered sausage everything's a sandwich to you that's exactly what I want a traditional fish and chips to taste like yeah you're a crispy batter the fish is flaky sauce on these chips and the flavor I think in a traditional fish and chip shop the flavor comes from the oil this he used over and over again mm-hmm and you just taste you can taste the flavor of our oil which might sound weird I don't know but in both from the chips and the fish taste it come on this man is inside please let me this okay I went to this incredible place called the seashell of listen and it's been around since the First World War it's got a restaurant attached to it but it's also a takeaway I have 14th winter smoke yeah so being a chef [Music] let's go down but they stay so there's no like little ones to get in your way there's the thing that I can't stand with fishes like every bite thinking am I gonna choke on a bone phrasing boom and appropriate because it's grilled I'm afraid you got all the seasoning the sonic so you get a nice really big hit and pepper you get some parsley it's really well-seasoned some lemon squeeze over top and it's just really fresh and because you grill it as well you get that browning on top which as we know with something like steak is about all the flavors and in how are you going to treat those pants well [Music] oh wow that's that's amazing agency let's talk money all right I think the ten pounds yours is a bargain I completely agree that's correct into percent agree plan that's unusual and unexpected and I'd be happy to pay camp counselor Jay yours Poppy's fourteen quid yep I'd say that was worth it I think for a traditional fishing chef that is on the expensive side but I think it's worth it because it's exactly what you want them to do their summer fishing trips now the big question is here we go would you say that your Dover song was worth 32 pounds yeah I would you know that day is when you papered over salt weirdly without having tasted it I wouldn't have risked spending 30 people haven't tasted it now why would go back and spend another the thing is why I would like to know is number one should we do more of these maybe not with fish and chips maybe or something else in London and secondly if we were to come to your city where you live what should we question I think we should do more and about stuff yeah I'm not sure what we've learned other than we're really great at picking fish and chips individually [Music] click on the left if you missed our last video or click on the right videos for one of our favorites [Music]
