Locked Stabilization Tracking in Davinci Resolve 17

hello this is a bit of a different video but in this one i'm going to be showing you a tutorial of how to do locked tracking stabilized tracking or however you would want to say it so first you need to get some footage that you want to track and put that into the timeline let's just play it it's just a guy running across and the camera kind of follows him but what we want to do is track his face and make the camera move with that so you click on the timeline and you click on fusion what this does is basically adds effects and you can do whatever you want to your video so here's the media in which is just the footage and media out is the output of the footage and what we want to do is add two things we want to add the tracker and we want to add the transform so to get those we press control or shift space so this is control space and this is shift space it's basically the same thing i just prefer control space so put tracker into the search bar and we add it so once we have this it shows a little green rectangle and put it over the most contrasted area which is the yellow just put it somewhere in an area that we can always see which is the guy's head so it starts off with him out of frame so we're just gonna start right here and focus on more of the back because at the end it showed most of the back so we fit to where the head is gonna be and then this is mostly going from left to right so we make it a long rectangle so once we have that we can be able to click on track forward what this is going to do is track the guy's movement and it says it completed so let's see how it works as you can see it's pretty smooth and it did start off weird wonky because he wasn't in the frame but we could just cut that part off once we have the track it's pretty much easy from here where we can go back and press shift or control space i'm just going to do control space and type in transform we're going to add that and this will help fix some of the image once we go and mess around with some of the options so we have the tracking but it's not really doing anything it just taking all these keyframes and moving it to where we want it to track but in this video i'm teaching you how to take that and move the background with the tracker so it stays focused on whatever you want to track so to do that you press on operation and there's some options and you click on match move match move can do a lot of things for one you can put images to where you want to track so you can put text i could just do that really quickly if i put some text here there we go and we attach to tracker one we just say hi and we move it let's just make that darker color so now when we play the video it goes with the track movement i think that explains what match move kind of does and also what i want to show you which is the main thing of what this video is about match move also takes the background and moves it with the tracker so here let me click on background only and as you can see it moves the screen with according to the man's head movement so that plays through and what transform does is it helps get rid of the transparency so to do that we click on transform 1 and move the size option to the right but we can't see the guy so what we do is i'm just doing control and the middle scroll of the mouse to zoom in and out and we just move to see the guy's head now we just play back in the video we're just gonna cut the beginning part off because it the guy wasn't in there for a second but as you can see it moves and tracks to the guy instead of just moving left to right so we could just adjust it a little bit more so none of the transparency is on there just can play it back again just to double check yeah it looks pretty smooth too and it really saves you a lot of time when doing all these editing so right here kind of goes off the frame so we can also cut that off or you could use keyframing if you like keyframing and kind of move the screen to the right a little bit so once we have the image we could go back to the edit tab and we can just get rid of the parts where it wasn't tracking [Music] so that's part so we have this and then at the end and we can cut this part off as well and the shortcuts if you wanted to know are control and and the vertical line button so it's just an easier way to cut and now our finished video so we successfully tracked the guy running and now you can use that for your videos it's especially useful for videos involving gaming because sometimes the character doesn't appear always in the middle of the screen in cases like you saw in the mario video i had to use this to be able to track mario and be able to say something along with what he was doing so you can use it for to use it for funny videos or to stabilize your footage i hope you find this helpful and goodbye
