hey you all carpetbagger here coming to you live from the north more specifically ellis berg pennsylvania and uh we are continuing our pennsylvania amusement park road trip and i'm very excited about today because we're visiting one of my favorite amusement parks knobles now knobles was built in 1926 and right now it is the world's largest free amusement park and by free i mean it is 100 free to park is 100 free to walk into the park to enter the park um of course you know you do have to pay for rides but tickets are not expensive to ride each ride is about two to three dollars to ride so i said this before i believe knoebel's to be probably you know pound for pound dollar for dollar one of the best amusement parks in the country i don't think you can get um this such a quality amusement park experience for such little money anywhere else but uh let's get our mask on and head into knoebels follow me [Music] now it does seem that it is going to be a somewhat busy day here at knoebels quite a few cars here in the parking lot there's the knoble security stand so you can see these carvings are all uh wearing masks which is the appropriate thing to do you got the security guard there security dog this little guy and then the security bear love the loaf say a giant building shaped like a loaf of bread this handy little figure here shows you all the different heights you need to be to ride the different rides and here's what gets us on the rides these are tickets bought a 20 book of tickets for 18 like i said it's about two or three dollars for each ride here's their flume ride known as the skloosh it's that big viking right there yes the skloosh oh there we go oh that was very soggy this terrifying pirate figure right here and i really really want to know what this dog is doing must be as tall as his musket to ride without an adult foreign we have this scenic skyway ski lift i think we should hop aboard that maybe get a bird's eye view of the park [Music] a little glimpse of knoebels there behind me you can hear the rumblings of the amusement park in the background but it's still a relaxing trip through the trees and here we reach the crest of the mountain where we are slingshotted around and sent back down towards the amusement park as we head down we can get kind of a bird's-eye peak at the park see the different rides yeah look at that monstrous wooden roller coaster right there i guess we'll probably be hopping on that in a little bit they have these free driving boats my chariot awaits oh this is so low hanging right here oh my gosh almost hits my head the steering wheel does steer the boat there's no gas you're just perpetually going forward so the motor is pushing you forward it's just up to you to keep the boat straight enough so i guess you don't get lodged sideways in the channel here oh wow all right looks like that's someone coming up here right next to me hopefully we don't get like wedged in the channel together oh wait this guy here is hooking hooking their boat and i'm leaving them in the dust yes the strategy to keep people from running into each other there's a guy with a hook that grabs your boat and slows it down i think they're gonna catch up to me again now legend has it that knobles has the best bumper cars of any amusement park oh good come the corner they do have a definitely a unique look to them all right yeah this plaque says dodge them the dodgers were purchased by lawrence knoble in 1947 and are considered to be the best bumper car ride in america today oh oh here we go big collision i admit i did not believe the hype initially i thought a bumper car is a bumper car it's been two dozens of different theme parks and the bumper cars are all pretty much the same but i'm gonna go out and say here i agree those are the best bumper cars i've ever ridden um i think one of the biggest things is you have more control i've never you know bumper cars are notoriously hard to control and those really are very maneuverable very drivable so yes i will go on record saying knobles has the best corporate cars in the nation also i just wanted to show this i'm wearing a gopro harness um this is what knobbles allows you to film on rides but they want you to wear an approved harness so you have to go to guest services and get your harness approved which i did and then i'm allowed to freely record on any rides with my harness [Music] it's a very very beautiful and intricate carousel here [Music] [Applause] you ever heard the expression grabbing the brass ring it comes from old carousels where people try to grab the ring as they pass by on their horses people all grabbing the brass ring all right so if we want to get that brass ring we have to get on one of these outside horses how about this one here he looks like a fine steed all right we're gonna get we're gonna get that brass ring i'm gonna reach my stubby arm out i'm gonna grab that rig i missed it my arm is too short i'm gonna have to extend my reach we're gonna get that ring this time oh i missed it this is hard all right i'm gonna really reach out oh i fumbled it i dropped the ring all right i'm gonna make a hook and we're gonna hook it this time got one got it got the ring now even though my ring was well won and well deserved i have to return it to this lion here this pig here wants me to please feed him some paper um all i have is this business card so there you go piggy [Music] here's the old mill how come you never hear about young mills apparently the old mill is actually an ice cream shop look at this sculpture right here it is a water wheel just spewing forth melty ice cream mmm that is a that is a sticky reality apparently knobles has just ate up with floods there's the 72 flood the 75 flood the 2004 flood 2011 flood oh my gosh yeah this place floods constantly and here's one of my favorite attractions here at knoebels this is knoebel's haunted mansion a terrifying adventure in darkness with this super spooky entrance sign here it says warning this ride can be scary prepare your children check out these cool old ride vehicles here it's 250 in tickets to rise the haunted mansion right here we go don't touch spooks [Music] everything in here happens so fast [Music] oh no oh oven monster what's this [Music] oh what's that sound [Music] someone's dying [Music] spider whoa spinning in circles here oh no very very dumb scary okay flashing lights oh what was that big twirling ball of evil skulls along the wall now we're in upside down skeletons what's gonna pop out i forgot well the biggest scariest elephant ever it's the devil ah what is that oh what was that what now [Music] horrible things going on blacklight jungle oh look at that evil monkey okay i'd like to reiterate that is one of the best it was one of the best dark rides around it is it's so old school but at the same time it's actually scary there's actually stuff jumping at you coming in directions everything happens so fast there's like flashes this flashes of that you can't even hardly focus on what's going on while it's jump scaring you top notch dark ride says the world's largest baseball bat they do put a question mark at the end and that is appropriate because the world's largest baseball bat is actually in louisville kentucky and it's like three stories tall maybe this is the largest baseball bat that could possibly be wielded by a human all right got a bottle of water so we could take our mask off momentarily enjoy a little bit of knobles brand bottled water this actually really helps you know when you're wearing the mask keep drinking cold water not only keeps you hydrated but actually it makes your mouth cold so your breath isn't as hot on your face get this we have cosmo and his friends hey they're wearing they're wearing face shields to help protect children out and they're they're escaping very quickly bye now here we have the mysterious cosmotron more to understand it is a himalaya style spinning ride but it's indoors with some sort of light show i guess let's have to go check it out oh it's all foggy in here interesting uh setup i guess we get locked in what is happening oh my gosh my favorite song i'm really disappointed about this the flying turns roller coaster is closed now this this is just a really strange ride it is a trackless roller coaster you actually roll without a track on these like turnpike like structures it's absolutely insane i do hope to be able to come back and ride this at some point let's stop in and check out the nobles history museum here oh hey there pappy you holding up you can see there's a ferris wheel coming out of the ceiling there here's some of the mascots from knobles park billy penn the park mascot 1978 looks kind of like hoots the owl and then we have billy bear the uh bear show mascot he actually does share a lineage with the rockifier explosion created by aaron fechter and then here is current mascot cosmo the birthday mascot piper dexter the second official mascot and creeper the hollow fun mascot that must be their halloween celebration here are the hard luck bears animatronic bear band created by aaron fector and creative engineering i don't know what this is up here but the real challenge it's very exhausting if you try it do it at your own risk up here we have an old skate clock that would regulate a skating rink they also have a coal mining museum because we are of course in pennsylvania here we see the tools of mine rescue this gentleman being lowered into a very narrow mine shaft digging for coal there of course we all know where coal comes from terrifying dinosaurs and there's a 10 ton lump of coal right there this here is the black diamond roller coaster this was a indoor roller coaster it previously was on the wildwood new jersey boardwalk but was moved over here it's a indoor roller coaster that kind of incorporates some dark ride elements to it one thing i find really fascinating about it is it actually incorporates uh the centralia mine fire into its storyline for those who don't know that's a a mining town in pennsylvania called centralia there was a underground vein of coal that caught on fire and it's been a fire for decades and decades and may be on fire for hundreds of years it's still burning to this day it ruined the entire town that was above it all right let's see skeleton right there [Music] oh it's a minor exploding mine oh whoa here comes a drop oh what's that [Music] whoa wow dinosaur all right here we are in centralia it's a mine fire the kitchen's sick oh the vortex tunnel the roller coaster too cruel what the heck oh there you go not as bad as the sploosh this is my favorite character here at knoebels this little corn guy he's got a pad of butter on his head and he's twirling a globe like a basketball perfection all right time to hop aboard some spine busting wooden roller coasters we'll start here with the phoenix oh my god oh my god oh my god oh in this ticket booth here that little miniature model of the phoenix the roller coaster we just rode [Music] let's see out in front there's a little cosmo the bear [Music] i don't know what the heck this is [Music] some variation of the spin you encircle style ride where you can actually roll while being spun in a circle little hillbilly character here named s ozarks the shooting gallery here got our moonshine still of course we have oh my gosh is there a woman cooking a disgusting rotten deer carcass on the stove [Music] this guy with the gun here lady over there with the frying pan this guy in the bathtub i guess when in rome let's uh let's start shooting [Music] all right got 16 shots we could try to open up that outhouse [Music] no turn sights on me [Music] oh [Music] oh look his hat's spinning [Music] we'd like you to go now yes you may go bro [Music] [Music] when the sun came up i said to myself that today is a beautiful day all right so here's a giant towering wooden roller coaster known as twister have absolutely zero desire to hop aboard this thing but i'm gonna do it for all of you no don't oh my god oh my god oh gosh oh my god god have mercy oh my god ah ah um i'll tell you what roller coasters [Music] scary [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] so thank you for joining me here today at knoebels amusement park um like i said i i stand by it this is dollar for dollar you're you're the best theme park in america for for your money you know i'm not saying that maybe there's not a theme park that you could pay more money for that would be more amazing but definitely when you take into account the amount of money you spend this could very well be the best theme park in america i was also very impressed um you know due to the pandemic some of the rides are not operating some of the the the attractions not open but very few they're they're most of the stuff is running they have uh seem to be handling the the pandemic very well and uh seem to be able to keep people pretty safe so i've really really enjoyed my experience here today at knoebels uh if you'd like to see other theme parks i've visited as well as other roadside attractions museums and other fun stuff please check the interactive map in the description of this video uh if you'd like to help support the channel consider donating to patreon three dollars or more we'll get you a postcard once a month there are other ways to help support the channel as well all those are in the description of this video until next time this one's in the
