I Try EVERY Japanese Ramen

welcome back to another questionable video from your boy me i am the number two connoisseur of food on youtube after report of the week and i'm here today guys we all know that i love food probably a little too much now one of the variations of food that i do love the most is ramen and i love it in any kind of form whether it be expensive gourmet or cheap instant garbage so i've been living in japan now for over a year and i've noticed one weird thing that they have an abundance of instant ramen not just your average you know your chicken your like tomato soup flavor i don't know if that's a flavor i'm making things up but they have hundreds of flavors i am not kidding there is a ramen for every occasion a divorce there's probably a ramen for it a marriage probably a ramen for your kid failed an exam probably a ramen for that i don't know some of the flavors i have sound really concerning and i couldn't imagine anyone willingly eating it in japan the main brand of cup noodles is this one this is the nissin cup noodles that you'll see everywhere and i believe these are really common in america as well they are slightly different though the formula has changed for japan and they do taste very different but in the uk we have something called pot noodle which i adore i think they taste amazing even though i know they're complete garbage so i today have assembled arguably concerning amount of noodles here's just two here is the whole box that i got from nissan this is just nissan this is one brand of noodles luckily this time i didn't have to go to a store to purchase them i ordered them online and honestly there's a concerning amount but i am hoping that i will find my favorite flavor today oh this one's seafood milk what the [ __ ] look how many i have this is this [Music] well this is just a lot i think there's around 30 something flavors which does feel slightly excessive but who am i to judge i'm just here to review so i'm going to start with the cup noodle brand one so let's get all the other ones out of the way i feel like this is like a nicardo avocado video in the making right when do i start crying when do i have a mental breakdown these are all of just the cup noodle varieties that i could find i know there are other ones too like there's a pringles flavor i couldn't find that it's basically sour cream and chive flavor which seems very disgusting i don't really know who would eat that i'm already getting confused i haven't even opened one so i have two curries here i also have the mini version this one is the exact same as this one but this one has less in it like this one has 87 grams and this one's 70. so maybe this is just healthier less size i'm not really sure i think it's supposed to be quicker i i can't read the kanji boys get out of the way normally it comes with this little sticker on the bottom here that you can peel off i'll show you what that does right now and i just i literally just oh my god you take off the sticker and when your kettle is done boiling like ours is here you rip these open on the bottom normally take this off oh wow this one's very fishy you put oh they're wrong so normally we switch to zeroes i'll do it correctly this time rip the bottom off peel off sort of like halfway curry one is my favorite by the way all this in smells amazing i haven't eaten today yet so i've been saving myself you just put this on here like that and then you leave it for three minutes voila engineering now i am probably gonna be wasting a lot of food unfortunately it pains me to do it but to make up for it i will be donating this amount to a food charity man this is smelling good okay i'm getting kind of hungry now i wonder what's the best strategy to go about this because i have maybe over 30 noodles realistically how many noodles can i eat in one session before i you know give up eating i want to give them all a fair chance so maybe i should just do one semi-sized mouthful bite of each i'm tired of playing games let's eat seafood again i've never had this one before oh that's pretty nice actually it smelled a lot fishier than it tastes i thought it was gonna be really overpowering we drink a little bit of the broth i really like that wow honestly i could eat that every day no problem that's such a nice seafood flavor to it i love that that's a that's honestly that's a nine that's clean no wonder this is in every store all right my next one i [ __ ] love this one i can eat this one any day of the week this i love it man i love meat and potatoes i'm like very white very british so i love this i think the seafood is easier to eat this is really heavy i'll give that name all right let's try this one the other curry version this is probably the unhealthiest video i've ever made this is worryingly unhealthy that one tastes less heavy actually i think this one tastes better same rating like it's better but like not by enough to give it another point that's an a right tomato chili tomato or if you're american tomato i don't know anything else that tastes quite like this the noodles are like red as well it's really weird i really don't know what kind of taste it is it doesn't even taste like tomato it's like i mean i'll try it it's not as good as i remember it's like someone's like you know what i'm gonna make a tomato soup for you and they use ketchup as the broth that's what this is that's kind of like kind of disappointing so far the seafood one is my favorite i'm gonna keep that up there right so i have four here now let's try the thai green curry one first i'm a big fan of thai green curry like i mentioned so i'm hoping i might find a new flavor that i adore how many calories am i eating today don't ask questions you don't know the answer to let's give this a shot [Music] whoa it's kind of unsettling how close that is tasting like a green curry that's weird right what the [ __ ] okay this is my new favorite this is a 10. this is oh my god it's like the right level of spiciness as well oh goodbye seafood i found my new favorite oh this is the other seafood this is the one that i'm dreading i do not want to eat this [Music] that smells vile uh why i can't just get naked instead man that's way easier i'll try one little bit of noodle iphone taste the broth i want to be done i want to taste the milk oh i don't want to oh why why why would you do that why it's hokkaido [ __ ] is that hokkaido milk [ __ ] off that's not hokkaido milk bro it is not milk anymore if you've turned it into [ __ ] powder it's chemicals at that point milk is liquid and it should stay in one form zero out of ten 100 zero round three of the kettle boiling i've had this one before i really really like this one another thai dish dude thailand is op what the f why is all their food like god tier thailand got the best food by the way sorry philippine gang i know there's filipino people who watch me i haven't had enough of your food but but every thai food dish i've had i'm like damn that's pretty good let's try the kimchi flavored one all right it's like oh my god that is so good oh man let me drink a little bit of the kimchi [Music] oh can i put the thai curry down to a nine because this is the new tent this is so good oh my god that is this is the best one oh my god that's so good that reminds me of like a you know doing well on a test you know that little praise you you get your mom would buy you like a chocolate bar or something that's that's amazing my rice bowl has been done i think with the stirrup per the instructions i don't like it japan has such good rice that when you have bad rice here it's painfully obvious and that doesn't look like real rice that looks like fake rice to me which is not bad but there's no way i would ever have this over a beef ball it just feels like it's trying and failing you know and the results aren't showing just like my subscribers which for some reason 50 of you aren't subscribed to this channel what's going on subscribe already oh we only have nine cup noodles left and then we're on to the other weird varieties that they have this one's big just big on it on the back jesus christ that smells incomprehensibly garlic oh my god no one needs that much garlic nah bro bro that's a two out of ten like it tasted fantastic until the garlic was like allow me to introduce myself my stomach is starting to get slightly full which is a bit concerning i'm guessing this is the basic one that's got a little less or it's got a little different recipe that makes it a little bit healthier let's find out what it is [Music] it tastes like the feeling when your parents say i'm not angry i'm disappointed that's what it tastes like it hits in that kind of spot all right next on uh is the sorba if you don't know the difference between the noodles don't worry i didn't either before i came here there's three types of noodles that you'll predominantly see in japan there's sorba ramen and udon asoba is normally like this color kind of a brownish blackish color and it's uh quite healthy for you actually it's a lot healthier than ramen and udon my favorite is ramen but i do like a good silver let's give it a shot that's actually not bad if i didn't rate this one it's like a four you know this one's like a seven it's not going for any crazy flavors it's just going for a nice healthy taste of noodles and i can't hate it that's that's good i like that no qualms no qualms like any good mukbang i'm sure i'll eventually break down into tears and start asking where did it all go wrong why am i doing this why am i eating an exorbitant amount of cup noodles who knows i don't even know why i wanted to do this video i think this is mainly more for me i kind of want to try all of them and see how they taste if i'm completely honest with you i want to find my favorite and then if my friends ask me connor which is you know how does that taste i can always be like well actually it tastes like this and in comparison to this one and the sodium levels are a little lower i'm gonna be that [ __ ] friend i've seen commercials for this this brand everywhere in japan seems to be quite popular of course added oil i don't know what this is it's literally just oil that's being poured in here that's very concerning but who am i to judge i'm british what do i know about food i'm not really a piggy type i will eat pretty much anything that's given to me even if i don't like it i will put it in my mouth that sounds not right all right i'll start with this one i've never actually had this brand before so i'm quite excited because again like i said earlier i do see ads everywhere i hope it's going to taste very very chickeny i mean that's the bare minimum i'm expecting here let's get a nice amount of noodles huh all right let's give it a shot shall we [Music] they said they burnt the [ __ ] chicken are you [ __ ] serious what happened at the end of chicken run did they get burned and turned into a pie and then put in this is that what happened one hour time it's got a little italian flag on the back i actually pepperoncino like two days ago that's pretty good so so this stacks up i don't know if i would say this is pepperoncino it's like what you know the death note live action movie is to death note you know what if it was his own movie it would be just a bad movie because it's trying to be death note and it butchered it it's like 10 times worse that's what's going on here with this i i can't i can't in good faith recommend that that's a three all right we're all done with the cup noodle brand and safe to say the kimchi one is still my favorite we're gonna see what we can try and find next in the other variants of noodle products that they have in japan now they have a bunch this one this one this one so i love this i've had this a bunch of restaurants here this is like a chinese noodle um broth i'm not really sure what it's called i just know what it looks like and it looks delicious this is good whoa wow that is like little two real pork you know what i mean so i'm guessing these are the cup noodles where you're like i'm broke but i still want to treat myself you know and finally the vegetables there you go all right boom i'm a chef and finally we have the pork one this one looks really interesting whoa it's got a pork slice in it wow my lucky day is that pork fat holy [ __ ] they're really going like all out for this man these smell real rich i think these are all pork based broth and they're all pork based noodles i think and i understand why mukbangs are so like painful now man this is hard work all right let's try the big boy tonkatsu ramen so now when you guys ask me can i cook of course i can cook how many dishes have i made for you today just stop asking me to cook that's actually not bad like it's not great and obviously you take a like an actual fresh made tonkatsu any day of the week but it's sad to say that even here in japan this has tasted better than some of that i've had that's sad damn that's like an eight or seven that's pretty good that's that's that's pretty good what played ramen what play and finally this one i do have high hopes for this i am hoping that it will pull through it looks very good very nice thick noodles even got a piece of pork in here which i won't lie didn't look appetizing but i will try it let's give this a shot [Music] that's pretty damn good let me drink it that's not a bad broth what how can you do this this feels illegal oh oh it's so good that's a nine that's a nine i think the kimchi one still is a better taste overall for me but damn this is a close second more veg and it would be probably a ten that's amazing then that's wow that that's shocking i'm getting so [ __ ] [Music] ah pouring boiling this is a terrible idea i love how i've spent half the [ __ ] episode just [ __ ] cooking noodles i knew this was gonna happen why didn't i think this was gonna happen i'm just done i'm big dumb what's this i guess i'll eat it i guess i'll have to this is slowly breaking me start with the chinese broth actually looks the best even though originally i thought it would look the worst smells really really chilly oily give it a shot it just tastes like chili oil and boiling water with noodles i mean it's fine but it's like a three out of ten i don't think it's that good it's really not that good all right this is the yakisoba if you don't know what yakisoba is um i cannot be bothered to explain it to you here is a google webpage right now on screen while i eat this noodle [Music] interesting huh that's fine i mean it's just like soy sauce and noodles like dry it it's fine it's not bad like i don't hate it it's just whatever i wouldn't i wouldn't get it it's it's a five you get the five and finally it's oh this one looks gross this one with the yellow orange sauce that we put in it i'll do one noodle right [Music] oh what the [ __ ] though it's really biz oh whoa it's like spicy what the [ __ ] though one more let me try one more to confirm [Music] nah bro no no no no no what is that big round of flavor it's it's [ __ ] with me stop that stop it stop doing this noodles i don't like it that's two oscar stun oh shout out to my kettle for being the real mvp this episode my kettle has been putting in the work i've been dreading having to record this video for a while and i i yeah i was right i completely i dread every moment of this i'm so excited to be done with this true hell that is this video i thought like yeah man it'll be fun let's just try different types of ramen what could what could be like annoying about that having to make a million ramen and having to clean up up the mess afterwards bro if this isn't gluttonous i don't know what is oh this is true pain all right let's grab some of the noodles whoa that's good yeah it's real nice hmm oh yeah oh take a little sip oh my god that's just that's just clean i still think the kimchi is the best one so far but that's good that's a nine as well if you come to japan get this brand this brand rocks this one was the weaker brand similar to the other two so let's give this one a shot i'm getting very full how many bites of ramen have i had right now but i had like 2 000 calories jesus christ i'm gonna die in this shot it tastes so weak there's no punch to it there's no there's no passion in the broth it tastes like a group project right like no one's no one's putting the work in i'm here looking like an [ __ ] eating the work and there's nothing to show for it what is this this is offensive this is nothing it's not bad but there's just nothing there's nothing happening it's a five it's a five guys it's a five okay what do you want me to say it's a five i'm going insane how much ramen do i have to eat i'm losing my damn mind here and my kettle is finally done for the day oh uh seaweed i'd just rip the seaweed sorry japan i didn't mean to do that cooking by the book you like to take it easy [Music] boom appetit [ __ ] this is the pink one which i think is a bunch of shrimp flakes like sanded down i'm not really sure oh oh zero zero the final one for say get me out of here i hate it here oh it smells nice it's not bad no a little anemic but not bad let me try a bit of the the pork what the [ __ ] was that pork like hitting the gym why it's so tough what the hell ah that's a four bro that's four oh my god i regret my choice i like just losing my mind over here the t1 was so much more fun i should do a coffee one let me know down below guys if you want
