I Tried EVERY Japanese Tea

what is up my beautiful weebs and welcome back to another strange but simple video where i review japanese tea now we all know that i'm british and that i love tea but like i didn't need to add the second part in there but just in case you weren't sure so what i thought we could do today is just review all the different types of japanese tea that i could find now here they are these four is what it would be uh this is the uk uh we would only have four brands because that's the only room there is to compete i actually have a bit more than this put that back there you know there we go so these are all the different types of tees we are going to be reviewing today of the hot section because there's actually a cold section and these are only the warm tees there's actually a whole nother section just for cold teas here is the bag that i got some of them in this isn't all of them there is actually more than this let me just start putting these down just so you guys can get a true sense of scale at the sheer stupidity at the amount of teas this country has you guys cannot see this but my table is actually falling down this is all of the japanese teas that i could find from just two convenience stores what the [ __ ] japan i just overwhelmed where do i even begin in the uk i only thought that one type of tea existed i legitimately until like the age of like 13 or 14 or that only one type of tea existed now because in the uk what you get is this if you ever ask for tea this is the one that you get you get english breakfast tea which is i actually believe we actually have some of japanese ones here which i believe is this one we'll get into that though i guess what we're gonna do is angry british man reviews japanese tea for the next however long this video is so without further ado let's just jump right in i'm going to start with the milk teas so i have four brands of milk tea here now i am going to take a sip of my own tea as a sort of control if you will okay it's a craft boss tea it looks fine i think i've had this before but i think it's really sweet i think that's again my problem with a lot of these oh god this tastes more like earl grey than english breakfast like how i imagine this drinking a skittle tastes like i know what that means but let's hope that one of these is better this is a different brand the maesters cheers to that gentleman cheers that was a little better but this feels like milk that has had a tea bag lightly dipped in this is insulting you're also probably thinking as a viewer man i wonder what connor's plans his ambitions were when he moved to japan it was actually uh just to collect all the tea and bring it back these two taste exactly the same so far this one tastes a little sweeter i i don't even know this one's supposed to be bougie i'm not really sure what this is this is beams and roasters let's give it a shot that's not tea that's coffee i bought coffee i'll drink that later this is milk tea this one is again from the same brand as this one not really sure what the difference is though i'll be honest with you this is probably the unsweetened version and this is probably the sweet version probably gonna hate this one [Music] oh god that's just as bad as this one this is an abomination to two i do not like this one this is the straight t what is the straight t japan this is just says the straight t that's like a t color or like coyote piss whichever one you prefer oh yeah so close to being good like a million blocks of sugar in this [ __ ] god damn that's awful this is the lemon tea from the same brand oh i cannot taste any of the tea in this this is all lemonade this is not tea japan can you fix this so far all of these are a one to a zero i actually hate all of these jasmine green tea that actually sounds quite pleasant yeah the label is kind of cute on this one as well that looks like a good tea i realized i should stop taking the label off because i'm not going to know which one's which but they all look like piss that's good that's good in the good pile i'm deciding now there's a good pile and it's here this is the bad pile next to the microphone there's no caffeine in this one oh it must be like a wheat tea what is it talking [ __ ] a japanese blended tea brand of the coca-cola company this one seems really healthy though it's got pretty much nothing in it oh nice label all right let's try this one oh wow yeah it does smell like wheat or it smells like uh like a tree has been grinded out and putting into a convenient drink why does it taste like burnt popcorn like the smell of burnt popcorn put into a hot drink god i actually like it as well [ __ ] all right hot ah i believe this is a sign for healthy green tea so all the drinks that are with this red label mean they're healthy the thing is that i don't understand is that like green tea has like nothing in it anyway so i don't understand how one can be healthy and one is but i'm down to say that i'm healthy and drink this i believe this is just ultra yeah this is a green tea i think it's just normal hot green tea my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined i don't know if you americans have ever experienced this but this this tastes like your friend has a tea bag right and they're really cheap so they don't want to use a new tea bag for every drink so your drink is maybe the eighth time they're using this tea bag this is roasted rice tea i actually don't think i've had roasted rice tea before let's give it a shot hmm i do kind of like it though why does it smell fishy to me am i dumb it smells fishy to me but your majesty helped me i like that though i like that do i like it no i don't i don't like it this is pitch black what is this tea with a refreshing taste made of 16 healthy ingredients so it's just a tea sundae but if you actually look at it from the side it's completely see-through and light brown that's really concerning they've definitely put the roasted rice tea in it because all i taste is this these are the ones i like and i'm realizing now all but one are green tea maybe i just don't like this type of tea no no i'm right i'm stubborn these taste like [ __ ] okay the milk tea do they do taste like [ __ ] though this has got a bunch of vitamins in it sorry vitamin vitamins for all those americans watching as i get my color and my what what are the things americans say well i eat my barbecue go down to texas and ask my friend if he wants to help me in my truck and we drink our vitamins and we're our diapers together all right let's taste this one this is especially a healthy version [Music] that went down the wrong pipe it tastes great i like that i'll give that a 7 out of 10. so this is zero calories zero caffeine this is zero nothing on the label as far as i'm concerned this is just water uh that's been stained black brown oh it's sesame tea gourmand says i i think this is sesame tea i don't know it doesn't matter at this point let's just taste it no no i don't like that no that's like a full a three out of ten i don't like that all right what's this uh gonna guess this is another green tea that tastes like nothing oh no there it is i feel like if i drank all of this in one go i would only get a taste at the end of the drink it's one of those drinks like the flavors don't hit you until you swallowed it abysmal this is another brown rice tea i believe and it's healthy and wow it is very much like i've been trapped in the desert for four hours and my pee is cloudy give this a try it just tastes like fish i don't know why why does why does this taste like fish to me i already know it just tastes like fish i'm losing my mind this is craft tea lemonade what so just like iced tea like this is going to taste abysmal i already know it is yeah that tastes more like lemonade than it does tea at what point do you just drink of lemonade am i insane here for just suggesting to drink a lemonade this is rich green tea relaxing with green tea umami wow the label is very aesthetic looking i won't lie this is probably one of the premium oh wow this is the premium there's actually tea leaves or green tea sludge i'm not really sure what it is let's shake it up a bit this is probably gonna be really rich i think it's gonna be very heavy flavor of green tea that's probably the best tasting one we've had so far from the green tea at least i like that that's a nine out of ten that's a solid nine you guys know 7-eleven in the u.s in japan they have 7-eleven family mart lawsons and they're all convenience stores and they have their own brands of products as well so this is family mart's own brand green tea so let's give that a shot let's see what compares the last one we do we just had like the king of tea the most luxurious looking bottle i've ever seen in my life and now we're gonna have their own brand so basically is gucci tea versus walmart i'm indifferent towards this one it's not good but it's it's not bad that's like a fall if you're desperate and you want something cheap you don't want to pay much you get this one all right so this one's oolong tea i'm guessing this is also this is some variation of oolong tea i believe when i first saw this i didn't realize it was tea so yeah let's try this one first it looks like your very bog standard oolong tea i don't know if you guys like oolong tea i quite like it actually so i'm probably gonna enjoy this one i didn't enjoy that one this reminds me of my childhood this is like being bullied i don't like this what's this one this is like the voss water of tea i'm assuming this one looks so [ __ ] extreme and extravagant i feel like i should be putting this on my body this bottle jesus christ i feel like this belongs in a museum look at the symmetry going on here with the shapes the tip tastes as good as it looks that tastes no different from the previous one this barely tastes any different from this one i don't know if that's a good thing this is probably a three and this is probably a five jasmine tea i don't really have jasmine tea often but i'm excited to change my mind got a nice label and um the jasmine flour is one of the prettiest ones but if i recall correctly it's not one of the best tastings oh that's nice when you initially swallow this you don't really get much taste you get a very standard almost green tea-like taste but a burst of flavor emerges it's very flowery very nice i do like that's a nine i like that that's very nice this is roasted green tea and this is lawson own brand yeah you've got no flavor to it that's like three it's very obvious that they're just like doing a speed run they have all the bottles lined up like this and somebody's got a [ __ ] clock and they have one tea bag and they're like let the bag sit in there a little longer man let it roast a little bit come on this is another type of lemon tea probably gonna like this i've already made my opinions very clear on lemon tea i don't like it what is this english it says i repeat afternoon tea has been drunk by the english ever since the custom was the first started by the duchess of bedford in the mid-19th century what the f does this mean japan what is the custom i should know what this is unsweetened roasted green tea let's try it [Music] yeah i don't like it that's a two out of ten i hope this dries jasmine tea let's go oh crack it open one with the boys a little jasmine tea with the boys with the gentleman oh god that's good oh god i love you jasmine okay i've been drinking tea for one hour and so far my tea is still probably my favorite let's try this one this one looks weird this is like a good night tea apparently so you can drink this before bed jokes on them because i drink coffee before bed my sleep is terrible oh wow i want to keep drinking it but i don't like it it's definitely maybe a three or four out of ten not bad next one is bosses are brand in japan they normally do coffee i think their coffee tastes pretty awful but they have started recently making teas and this is one of them don't know what this is and frankly i don't care because i know it's probably gonna taste like [ __ ] because so does their coffee yes that tastes [ __ ] what the [ __ ] lipton milk tea i don't trust lipton to make any tea the fact that they're trying to make british milk tea is slightly concerning i shouldn't drink this oh really like this bottoms up ah oh it's just sugar oh it's all just sugar i'm angry on behalf of t how dare they do that to t that's disgusting while we're on lipton let's keep drinking their disgusting [ __ ] hey this is royal nocatee i don't like drinking out of a cartoon it makes me feel like a peasant this one tastes better than this one but that's not a compliment this one still tastes like [ __ ] if this is a 0 out of 10 this is a two i could drink this i'm just i'm just gonna complain about it the whole time and finally the one i'm probably dreading the most is lipton lemon tea um if i haven't made it clear i don't like lemon tea and the fact that lipton's making it which frankly is probably one of the worst tea brands out there that is quite concerning [Music] that ain't tea that ain't that just ain't that's not tea that's not tea her majesty is crying right she's furious the fact that this is allowed to exist why i left japan video coming soon featuring lipton iced tea this is boss lemon tea i've already made my feelings known on lemon tea so let's just get this over with let's just have the suffering begin that's not tea and i won't stand for it any longer oh this is the same line if you will as the green tea that i really liked but this is for the roasted green tea i do think green tea is better not roasted that actually tastes good i like that why does that one taste good with the other stone all right we have lawson's green tea very basic standard one fine you know it it does what it needs to do it's nothing exceptional nothing exciting i know hold your horses don't get your panties down don't pop a chub i have ah it's another one of these the soccer beacher which i think i should i didn't need to buy this many actually i think it's the exact same one yeah i heard it cool moving on what is this i don't know what this is this is something flower let's just try it is it jasmine oh oh okay hello your majesty that tastes fantastic oh the fragrance just hit you right away that is the best jasmine tea that's a 10. that's a 10. that's a great tea green tea with matcha now i don't know what your feelings are about matcha but there seems to be matcha [ __ ] everything here in japan i swear if you could make children out of matcha and raise them they would do that here let's just give it a shot let's see how it goes let's just jump right into it [Music] yeah the matcha just it's kind of overpowering that's a four or five out of ten this one i'm excited for i do love peaches there's a the crafty brand which frankly sounds pretty good hopefully gentlemen this will be delightful and i'll just have a great smile [Music] well that's just actually beautiful but that's good for the wrong reason this is closer to juice than it is to tea though if you're looking for tea the same if you're looking for a drink that just tastes good it might give you some cavities this is certainly it i'll give this a seven but not not because of t on the t scale it's a zero i can't do 72. this one's interesting this one's in a can this is just green tea matcha again this one's like very cute packaging though so let's jump into it oh my god it's like snapping a neck jesus christ oh that smells like so much matcha it's like shrek's piss and a glass who's this i don't taste anything i just taste green that shrek semen out of here they printed the same thing on it again it says the same thing afternoon tea has been drunk by the english ever since the custom words that gender shiver down my spine to be sure all right let's try it i'm not gonna like it but let's just try it yeah it tastes like all the other ones they all taste the same feel like i've done this am i going and say i don't know which tease i've drank i've had the cold version of this one i've got the hot version of this one so let's see if it tastes any better cold i'm gonna take a fat guess here and say no it doesn't would you look at that it doesn't taste any different this tastes like [ __ ] this looks like it's supposed to make me healthy [Music] i'm losing my mind here they all they're all just starting to taste the insane this tastes like familiarity it doesn't taste like anything all right another green tea boys why not another one hey get me out of here yep that's good it's green tea yeah i'm gonna say complain more i complain what i i can only complain so much i'm kidding i'm british i can complain forever i love this one this one's really bitter really nice flavor but it's not a bit pricey but it's good [Music] that's good i mean it's good what do you want me to say it's good it's good it's great okay it's fantastic what do you want from me it's amazing i love it okay this is reduced body fat was there more body fat in the previous one am i insane here reduces body fat that feels like a fly don't get my hopes up like that because if it does i'm only drinking this jesus that's oh my god this tastes like a passive aggressive comment from your cousin at the family party it's like so bitter so vile god afternoon tea has been drunk by the english ever since the custom all right let's try it come on then it's fine whatever you say looks red i really don't like straight tea i don't know what straight t is but i want to try gaity now what is deep green tea what is this how many levels of green tea are there this is absurd this is a joke come on you're [ __ ] with me japan come on just say sun just say suck i don't know what's deep about that what is deep about that i don't i don't get it am i am i dumb do i just have less brain cells than everyone else you know what that's a four it tastes like a normal green tea there's absolutely nothing exceptional about that this is honey lemon tea give this a shot now this is like military grade lid on this one jesus christ [Music] it's got like pulp in it oh that caught me way off guard this literally tastes like just honey and lemon i cannot taste any tea in this it's in this pulp could you imagine going to a an afternoon tea place and you asked for a tea and like oh of course would you would you perhaps like some pulp with your tea what the [ __ ] i mean don't pull put my teeth no i don't want pulp in my teeth don't buy this [ __ ] it tastes awful i'm going insane i i can't i don't even know what i've drank what i haven't drank anymore i heard it one out of ten final royal milk tea this is the royal milk tea brand that i see everywhere this is the one that everyone drinks so if this one can't impress me uh then i don't know what can so let's give this a shot shall we it's definitely the best color but it does look a little too light it's the least offensive one it's still far too sweet for my liking but it's still it's still solid that's good you know what i could actually drink that one that's a five out of ten two more we have family mod own barley tea uh don't like barley tea let's just confirm that i don't like it i don't like it but what else i was expecting that i'm guessing this is green tea of some sort it looks like it goes well with food or something i don't know what do you want me to do read japanese and live in japan come on not bad but not great that's a solid four or five out of ten so far i'm not gonna lie i think i've hated nearly all of them these are probably the ones i would enjoy drinking normally so this one is probably my favorite out of all the teas that we've had i honestly thought going into this it would be a green tea but no it's not and then i really do like this roasted green tea for some reason all the others taste [ __ ] and this is the only one that tastes drinkable and then this green tea is really nice this one tastes like it's actually been made fresh so i'd highly recommend this one if you come to japan uh this jasmine tea as well is pretty good very easy to drink very very light uh this green tea is one of my other favorites and then also the peach tea which is my kind of like underdog if you will uh not really tea but it's pretty good you're wondering connor how big was the receipt this big as you want one of the receipts now i'm probably sure many of you are thinking what a waste of all that tea if you're just gonna throw it away uh one i'm not gonna throw it away i'm gonna drink most of them as most of them are refrigerable and i'll have a very nice stockpile of tea for a while even if i don't really wanna drink some of them but for the really egregious ones i have a backup plan i have a humidifier i thought what better thing to humidify than t i want to have my room humidified constantly you know my skin breaks out but i also am british so i figured what better thing to humidify than some tea this seems very safe and wise i'm finally so excited to be one with my british ancestors let's turn this bad boy on uh gonna guess that noise isn't a good noise that's smoke oh yeah it smells like seed yeah clearly i just broke my humidifier as much as i want to breathe in tea and have it in the atmosphere yeah it doesn't work well hope you uh beautiful weebs enjoy this video and you can rate my tea taste yourself and you can
