I don't know if I would call this transition a particular 'name', but it general it is a cross dissolve with a mask.
The Ball from the B shot is masked over the A shot (there is some blending to smooth this into frame) and then at a specific point the rest of the B shot cross dissolves in full.
So, I'd suggest looking up masking!

In addition to what ah_photo's comment says, I think the specific transition they used after the ball was masked and they wanted to first blend the ball appearing is a luminosity key that slowly lets things become visible starting with the darkest pixels. It also looks like they have some glow effects on the ball, though that effect would be done in after effects, or it could just be part of the footage and they made use of it in the transition.
