I don't know if I would call this transition a particular 'name', but it general it is a cross dissolve with a mask.

The Ball from the B shot is masked over the A shot (there is some blending to smooth this into frame) and then at a specific point the rest of the B shot cross dissolves in full.

So, I'd suggest looking up masking!

Here are five questions to help people help you:

  1. What operating system are you using ?

  2. What is your Premiere build version ?

  3. What are your system specs?

  4. What is the source footage format/codec ?

  5. If there is an error message, what exactly does it say?

Please reply to this with your answers.

In addition to what ah_photo's comment says, I think the specific transition they used after the ball was masked and they wanted to first blend the ball appearing is a luminosity key that slowly lets things become visible starting with the darkest pixels. It also looks like they have some glow effects on the ball, though that effect would be done in after effects, or it could just be part of the footage and they made use of it in the transition.

Rough Steps I'd guess are:

  1. Make a cut between footage a and footage b.
  2. Mask around the ball in footage b, place it on a higher track than footage a and overlap, then add an aditional copy of footage b (the one with the ball in it you want to reveal first), and turn the second copy of footage b to 0% opacity.
  3. Over the course of a couple seconds, animate a luminosity map on the ball so that it goes from revealing nothing, to slowly revealing everything, from darkest to lightest.
  4. When the ball is fully revealed then take your second copy of footage b, and bring up the opacity over about half a second.

what's going on gamers so we just hit 200,000 subscribers on YouTube and that seems crazy for me to even say but seriously huge thanks to you guys for all the support it's honestly been crazy it's been so fun doing YouTube for around a year now and as most youtubers do I wanted to do something special for this important milestone I didn't want it to just be a normal rocket League montage because I wanted to bring something really special for you guys for 200k but the problem was I had literally no idea what I wanted to do so a few months ago while I was thinking what I should do I was browsing YouTube and this video shows up on my recommended page and I was like dang it really would be cool to see a rocket League youtuber do this and it takes me like 30 seconds to realize but I'm Morocco a youtuber I could do this so big shout out to nade King further inspiration but I didn't want to go on Fiverr and get some average editors for the special occasion so I decided to hire the five best rocker League editors in the entire industry to edit the same clips I went to Twitter and asked you guys who your favorite editors were and that combined with my knowledge and experience with editors led me to hire these five people without revealing to any of them that I was hiring other editors I send the same six replay files of my best rock illegals and ask them how much they would charge in the first price they said I would agree to it the only requirement I gave them was that the music has to be royalty free and the montage has to be somewhere around one minute long other than that I gave 100% creativity to the editors I let them put the clips in whatever order they wanted to I let them choose whatever theme or style of editing they prefer and I had them choose any text or anything they wanted to put in and I even let them choose whatever song they wanted to for the montage and you know you can choose your fantasy roster on Alito's calm so I want to give a big thanks to Lee doles for supporting me by sponsoring today's video their website essentially brings all the excitement from fantasy sports to professional eSports they have contests for multiple games including rocket league where you can win real money by picking your five favorite players one from each tier to make your fantasy team so once the matches begin the rosters lock and you can earn fantasy points so here's the roster I chose for our LCS playoffs this weekend it's really important to pick your favourite players because they'll earn fantasy points for the entirety of the tournament but you also want to pick players from teams you think will win so you can continue earning points for the playoff Alito's is running a cool promotion right where if you're 18 years or older and you use code duels you will receive a $5 deposit bonus even if you only deposit $1 I've personally won 30 dollars from elite duels so make sure to check them out using the first link in the description but with that being said let's get back into the video so here are the six clips each editor had to work with so for the first clip I get a little touch force the defender to save it here fake him once thank him twice he jumps both times and I get a 50/50 past him for the second clip here I'm kind of silent out a little bit do a little turtle get a backflip on the backboard once and then I get a double touch so kind of like a triple touch since I had the backboard twice the next clip get a little sloppy pre flip flip into it again let's see it's going up the corner and I honestly have no idea how I scored that but a kind of a cuts or pinch from the corner the next clip here got some air dribble action do a little late flip 360 to get to the right of one defender and over the other defender so they both go diving in and I get the goal next clip here I kind of mess up my initial jump but I just and land on the wall somehow go around and get the goal next one here a lot of you guys have seen this I touch it off the wall got a little messy flick and that one extra touch I get it past the defender right into the goal okay so I'll be putting the five montages in order from cheapest to most expensive and at the end of the video I'll have a car to where you can vote to see which editor you think did the best so make sure you say till the end of the video for that and you carefully watch all the montages before voting so I gave each editor a few weeks to finish the montage and the first one was $65 from Zeki he had its projects for all the rage pulse clan and he's the one I chose said and my 50k montage a while back [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so that's what you get for $65 from Zeki and that's only the first montage that's the cheapest one out of the five the first clip had some good cinematics but starting on the second clip things really got spiced up and we had some insane flow and zoom perfectly timed with the music and all the transitions were great if I had to pick one thing I didn't like it was that the goal on Safi Shores doesn't show the 360 in the beginning which was a big part of what made the clip really good he showed some extra cinematics towards the end of the clip but I wish he had time to fit in the 360 in the beginning but overall a fantastic montage from Zeki montage number two is from little cat steps he's really well known in the community and does a lot of different client work as well as editing stuff for the pulse clan his price for my project was $70 [Music] so may that's why Wow like all I can say is Wow that ending was so satisfying like every time I watch this one I end up smiling like really with any of these montages just because they're all so good this one had a different editing styled in the last one it seemed like this one had less cuts meaning less quick zooms and stuff so the cinematics were more simple and close-up focusing more on the car rather than the timing on the fast-paced music and little cat steps made it look so good with the close-ups on the car the transitions were great and he changed some of the cosmetics I use like the goal explosion and boost and even some of the mattes I'm not too sure how he did that but I think that was to make the transitions look more clean I really like this transition in particular as well as the thing he put around the ball and I really like the in-game sounds such as the sound of touching the ball the sound of the goal explosion and the sound of my boots the only thing though and it took me a few watches was he only used five out of the six clicks the doublethink wasn't in there and I sent him six clips so I expected to get six back but maybe he couldn't fit it in and the ending was incredible and really meaningful with the song so that could make up for it montage number three comes from jury who does some client work and he's a really good editor for the post clan and for this project he charged with me $77 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] this one is just so cool dude yeah so with all the editors I let them do whatever they wanted to with the clips and he decided to make an entire theme to this montage which is awesome and so creative and I honestly did not expect that at all so it starts out with his menu screen he made and it shows some of his other projects and he clicks on the one called rewind and the montage start he chose a song called rewind and he has lots of super cool text to fit the theme with a montage and the types of shots I score and before a lot of the clips it's fast-forwarding going back in time to fit this song perfectly this transition in particular was insane to show the 360 and he didn't have many close-up cinematics and stuff because he replaced that with a lot of cool text and a whole theme to the montage so great montage overall and it was extremely unique montage 4 is from link see who's the leader of the freestyle team Nexus and he obviously does some client work and he charged me $80 for this project and it looks like he even added some videos for D fuel [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] okay so there's so much to talk about with this one first of all he's in the song he said his friend makes music and links he asked me if he can make a custom song for this and I was like yeah you'd go for it what's so cool about this montage is the complexity of the cinematics he decided to use and the song is so unique as well like it has a chill vibe to it but at the same time he has a fast pace of editing like Zekey but he did it in a different way for pretty much every beat of the song he had a different angle of the play and that not only emphasized the song but it made the play look so much cooler and for some of these cinematics I have no idea how he got those angles to make it look so good he also had a 3d version of my logo in the beginning and he did something with the in-game audio to make it sound really crisp but just like little cat steps dead links he also changed some of the go explosions and maps I was on and the transitions were great and I've watched it 100 times now and I still have no idea how he did this one like it's the same goal explosion and it switches maps somehow then goes to a totally new map he was also the only one to show the pre flip before this play which is a tiny detail I really like so overall a great montage montage 5 comes in from buck who's the manager and VFX artists of the team all the rage in this project was $100 [Music] [Music] [Music] so that was a number five from buck and just like all the other ones this one was super good and had its own style so this was probably the most fast-paced montage out of all of them and add some nice dubstep music to go along with it and you can tell he put a ton of effort into this like this two seconds probably took him hours to do since he has all the speedy shaky edits going to the song perfectly after the first shot I was kind of scared when I first saw this because I paid a hundred dollars for this and he didn't do too much editing but it picks up so much on the second shot once the song starts to get faster he made the sounds in game some really good as well as the angles he chose for a lot of the cinematics were extremely good to help show the beauty of the place so overall 100 dollars for a fantastic montage so those were the five montages and here's where the video gets interesting like I said in the beginning I want you guys to vote who you think did the best so to be able to vote make sure you're watching us directly from the YouTube app on your phone or directly from the YouTube website on your desktop before we vote I'll give a quick refresh on all the montages the first one was Z key with the really nice flow and zooms to fit the song the second one was little cat steps with a great close-ups of the car the third one was jury with the custom rewind theme for the whole montage the fourth one was link C with the chill customized song and unique angles and the fifth one was buck with a dubstep in the fast paced editing so if you're one of the editors watching this first of all every one of you seriously did a ten out of ten job from me so from the 10 out of 10 we're voting to see who did the best so right now on the top right of your screen you'll see a card you can click on with a poll where you can vote who you personally thought did the best and this is all based on your preferences for rocket League montage and after you guys vote I'll tell you my personal favorites because I don't want to have any bias on you guys this was by far the most money and work I've ever put into a video and it's my favorite video of ever published on the channel I'm so glad you guys are finally seeing it so if you did enjoy this video I would really appreciate if you gently touch the like button for me and subscribe to the channel if you're new other than that come in any video ideas with really cool concepts like this one that you'd like to see in the future so now that you guys have voted and subscribed if you're new my favorites if I had to put them in order would be link see little cats EPS buck and jury then Zeki so I hope you guys enjoy the video and I'll see you in the next one peace [Music]
