I Fixed The Worst Voice Acting In Anime

before the economic one of those is fine I'm not doing this down line again hello there my beautiful weeps and welcome back to another voice acting related video with me your boy c-dawg and today we're gonna be fixing the worst voice acting in anime and will truly see if it's the voice acting is fault as to why the clip sucks big PP mature n chose AB and today we're gonna be fixing four different clips from anime and technically one of them is from a video game but it's in an anime style so I don't know what's up with video games and having really really bad voice acting it doesn't matter that's not the point it's anime so we have a nice variety of clips they're gonna be fixing today some are from very famous shows that I hope you all know such as Sailor Moon and Sylla from shows called cipher the video and black heaven which you probably have no idea what they are and that's okay and you're probably thinking to yourself just just watch this clip from black heaven hmm hey what the [ __ ] you got a problem [Music] freaky Torres yeah we're gonna fix that a clip of Sailor Moon where everyone is kind of talking way too fast shame on you mistrust your lies and deceits have finally caught up with you calling an innocent girl a cheater and turning friends against each other and this gem from cypher in the video where I don't know what's happening and I'm not really sure good morning Jay good morning so what do you want to eat yogurt and then finally a clip from Mega Man which I hope most of you have seen if not you're welcome so those are the four Clips that we have now don't worry I showed you a very short section of them I just wanted you to get familiar with them and just understand that they are bad and that I'm not lying but I will show you the full clips later on when we compare my dub to the original dub and we can decide if I improved it or not and hopefully I did okay the rules of this challenge is simple we are not allowed to change anything except for the voice-acting we're only gonna touch that nothing else is gonna be changed we want to see if it's the voice-acting fault or if it's something else as to why these clips are pretty god-awful now that being said I think I have an idea of which clips will work a lot better with improved voice acting but I'm hoping all of them will get some improvement from me changing the voice acting now there is some kind of a problem with this and it's kind of a big one when we are taking out all of the audio track we lose the music and we lose the sound effects now sound effects for the most part aren't hard to replicate and find replacements but for one of the clips and you'll see and I'll talk about it later finding the music so I'm hoping that you can understand that if the music is different but it's not a big deal I hope okay so the first thing that we need to do is go through each clip and figure out how many voices we have and how many characters that we need to cast for now I am going to be doing some of them but obviously I can't voice every single character as we have some girls and we have a black dude and I'm not about getting cancelled so in the first clip black heaven we have two characters we have the black guy who is given their name I'm pretty sure as well as the main character who is Japanese so we need to find a Japanese voice actor I mean to find someone who can do the black guy in Megaman we have two characters we have zero who has all the lines and a girl I don't know her name it's not important who has one line and it goes as follows so we need a girl to do that but honestly I mean I could probably do that we have the Sailor Moon clip which has three characters we have Tuxedo Mask Sailor Moon and just a generic villain character I assume I don't know I'll be voicing Tuxedo Mask so we only need to find two female voices for that and the final clip that we have is cypher the video and they're both clones so I'll be doing both the voices because they have the same voice because they're a clone come on so in total we need five voice actors we need three male and two female so as far as casting voice actors goes this is a really casual project it's nothing crazy I'm just gonna tweet out this tweaked asking for voice actors and then hopefully we'll get some good voice actors there are some characters that I know I'm gonna have to specifically ask people for so for example the Japanese character he's speaking Japanese fluently so we need a fluent Japanese speaker so I'm gonna ask my good friend Joey so all have to do now is wait until we find the rest of the voice actors and the next thing you will see is me directing those voice actors so let's just cut to me directing Joey what did I clap you've probably seen this clip I feel like everyone's seen this clip it's called black guy done before oh yes I have you seen this click yeah hey what makes the guy who speaks in lowercase yeah so I'm guessing you want me to be the guy Japanese guy yeah that's pretty good ding ding ding ding ding hey I found the wiki and like Steve blue I'm actually voicing in the dog as well really yeah yeah I'll still have we never like seeing this yeah this is the one steve blum like dog but Steve doesn't want you to know the noises this guy makes is funny weird you sound exactly like little did you know was actually yeah yeah I'm just being racist I'm kind of putting on a voice as well yeah have you seen this before yeah I've seen it plenty of plenty of times to be honest I like it stuck in my head I can't forget it it's because the guy speaks in lowercase I think like you know what I mean where's your basement where's your boss hey what you got a problem okay go go go lower yeah maybe lower maybe hey what you got a problem oh yeah yeah yeah yeah okay nope on the living [ __ ] out of you dumb way too high I'm thinking of Terry Terry Crews nope oh no living [ __ ] out of you dumbass freaky tourist that was good this is all you be my favorite line and the Magnus magnum opus of this story you want more ha say hi to the people in Jersey for me I don't know how you make this sound threatening because let me just get all mine in a jersey man what's your member say Hardy to people in Jersey for me what feels right when you see this clip what would you say before you threw someone hi it's my time to dub so this should be fun so I'm just gonna go ahead and actually write down what I'm saying still be annoying to dub she says all that in 13 seconds damn shame on you mistrust shame on you mistrust shame on you mistrust your evil games are coming to an end right now so come on hit me with the very best shot you've got you can obviously tell this is done with like old dubbing methods and especially the way they've written this script like your evil games are coming to an end is what they want to say but then there's another shot so need to fill that with like that obviously isn't supposed to be there you can tell that in the script it feels unnatural and then with the so come on hit me with the very best shot you've got there just filling it in that's not a sentence that most people would say this one is probably gonna be a little more difficult because the lines are really crap and I don't know how to act out bad lines yogurt top it with vanilla ice cream raisins okay okay I bought some peanut butter too want to go for a like an American voice thing for this well I suppose now yogurt Yogesh yogurt yogurt oh good I don't know I no idea how this line cuz what though I'm sure to go with yogurt like you'll like do you mean yes you know it's fine meet my teammates that sounds like the a little closer to the original I don't like three two lunches and I don't particularly like what they did with the lunches ah and then try one where it's like ah you know like you're going into it kind of like what she's done but her sounds like she doesn't put any effort in so I want to see what it sounds like you can do it correctly good [Music] sweet where's the line even you know what I could have done this yeah alright two takes literally just like Oh gasp I'll do that as well later yes see dragging you all the way here hi and welcome back to my office well we do mistakes I don't know where I was going with the Fincher anyway today we're gonna be doing these sound effects and sound design of this whole thing so in the Megaman clip thank god they've been generous to us and included pretty much no sound effects Paris the only thing that they've done to this audio is that they've added like a kind of drone in the background it's kind of like you know what I mean so we need to find a replacement for that and all they've done to the audio is just add a reverb to it so that it sounds like it's kind of echoing a little bit so I don't have time to make all my own sound effects so I use a website called sound snap now sound snap is a professional just kind of sounds website and you can use them in your project paid or not it's a little pricey I know but you get pretty damn good stuff I just have the yearly subscription so I paid 200 bucks a year and then I can download and use as many sound effects as I want it's also what I used in my yowee audiobook which you should totally go and download by the way you should you should download that so for this I need to find like a drone sound effect right anything that sounds like so I'll just type in drone you just go through this end no you don't want that you don't on that this is similar so if I download something like this then I can also just change the pitch I love it put it higher a little bit and then lower the volume and you get this kind of sound so that's pretty spot-on that's pretty so that's pretty damn close to what we want so the idea is is that it doesn't need to be perfect it just needs to be close enough where the viewer won't really know the difference and then we just add reverb to the voices yeah that's it the Megaman clip that was really easy sign for in the video this one wasn't too bad either a lot of the sound effects are really easy to get the first thing I'll do when I put the clip into Sony Vegas or any editing software I'll play through the original so I'm just gonna play through the original now just so you guys can hear what I'm talking about on my first listen through I'll listen and then I'll just mark like I have here every single sound effect that I hear that I'm gonna need right so here we have six different sound effects I'm gonna need to find and then we can replace them so for example there's the blinds opening that's the original and then the one that I found is this one it's not exactly the same but it has the same effect but now it goes downhill really fast because the other two clips have a lot of music let's start with Sailor Moon because this is the one that I put into the best this is the original right this red track here these are all the sound effects and audio that we've had to replace in the original there's three different tracks that are being played if we listen well I kind of drum beat going on then it changes to this when takedo mask comes in mask shame on you mistrust your lies and deceits have finally caught up with and then finally again when the fight starts there's another track like when the goons are coming in so luckily turns out Sailor Moon is a popular anime and finding the soundtrack isn't too difficult but I believe I didn't get it one full one I'm showing you all this one because I want you to not be mad at me too because this is difficult and and doing this for a whole show is difficult and I hope that you can understand that if I have trouble dubbing one clip of anime and finding all these sound effects and all the music and stuff imagine if you're doing a 50 episode show the quality isn't always gonna be there unfortunately and especially with all the titles that quality dips quite noticeably at times and these three clips I feel like I did a really good job of matching the sounds now the final clip this is where I've had some trouble it starts out pretty fine there's just general chatter that's not hard to find on sound effect websites as boots walking steps that's fine we can replace all of this there's water sound effects even bubbles water all this is fine the problem is is that it gets kind of difficult when they have a confrontation I'm knock your [ __ ] head off ignoring the original voice acting aside that is hilarious by the way it turns out the music is really really hard to find and I have no idea what to replace it with currently the problem isn't finding something that could achieve the same thing it's that at the end there's this like really distinct riff that happens like algae play for you and that's like the end of the clip and I feel like it's so hard to get something that fits the same way so I had an idea if I find the original soundtrack I'm sure that this track will be on it and then I can just download it and replace it it'll be easy it was not easy allow me to go on a tangent for a second and explain the hell that I went through to try and find this damn piece of music okay so this is where I found the clip on YouTube it's called worst black guy in Japanese dub ever fortunately the guy who uploaded this video said in the comments that it's from black heaven episode 10 great we have the anime name okay cool so I do a quick Google search soundtrack oh great I think somebody's uploaded it to SoundCloud oh wait why is there any six songs oh that's right it's not actually the soundtrack it's just six songs that I think they perform in the anime I'm not sure so I find this anime called VG MDB dotnet and it lists all the songs in the soundtrack of this anime it turns out that this album literally just isn't on the Internet I could find the DVDs the anime but not the soundtrack I kept finding this black heaven soundtrack coming up but it turns out that this is not what we're looking for so after going to the fifth or sixth page on Google I managed to find the full soundtrack on a website called VK now you're probably wondering what the is VK I thought the exact same thing and the Russians watching this video will probably laughing because it's a Russian social media website but no worries because I could just click play also I thought but you actually need to log in and make an account to listen to any of the files on the website I put in a fake name and a birthday and boom it asks me to put in a phone number I don't want to give a Russian social media website my number so I put on the fake one turns out it doesn't work I put in a bunch of different phone numbers and nothing worked and so I finally caved and put my own phone number in and then I managed to make an account and then my account got banned I don't know why but now they have my phone number and I have no soundtrack but then I realized I live in Japan I can probably find the soundtrack for a decent price here somewhere online I did indeed managed to find that soundtrack on a secondhand website and purchased it after I purchased it I was a very happy boy I was excited to listen to the soundtrack and finally find that piece of music to replace the one in the damn clip and I go to put it in my PC and I realized my PC doesn't have a CD player I think to myself but that's not a problem I think to myself I'll just spend 20 bucks and buy an external CD drive that I can plug into my PC so that I can read the damn disc okay no problem my way today thanks prime delivery I plug in the CD Drive I put in the CD in the CD Drive I listen to every single sound on the soundtrack and would you guess what it wasn't on it so I spent all this damn time and money tracking down the original soundtrack for no damn reason I wasted like 50 bucks and like 10 hours try to find this damn piece so that I could make it perfect for no reason okay tangent over so I've just decided I'm not gonna go crazy looking for this one-to-one replacement I'm just gonna use in a root Oh music because I am so done now is the time where we review the original and compare it to my own and see who's better third or that I had troubles but anyway let's go and listen to the original clip now and then let's listen to mine right after and I'll kind of rate how I did and how I think it sounds first of all let's do the man clip let's do the original Mega Man clip [Music] Pyrus virus virus virus virus no this isn't happening there's no reason for me to go on what am i fighting for god bless that scream it's charming for all the wrong reasons so here's our improved version I hope ires ires ires ires harris this isn't happening there's no reason for me to go on what what am i fighting [Applause] maybe I'm biased but I think that sounds amazing I think we definitely improve that categorically I dig that look that looked and sounded look has really know if it's any better I think the only thing that I've done definitely better is the end with the fight I think the fight is way better like the sound effects are a lot more crunchy and a lot more like impactful but that's got nothing to do with what we are trying to improve I think my tuxedo mask line delivery of specifically this one finally caught up with me I really don't like how it lived in my line maybe it's because it's a really unnatural pace to deliver a line and I was not at all comfortable doing it that's up to you you guys can let me know if you liked or disliked the voices more it was really difficult directing some of these lines especially The Scream they're really unnaturally long and again trying to replicate that that length to make it match it was very difficult I'd say we probably haven't improved it I'd say it's pretty much the same even the voice acting I don't think has been improved that much if anything it's a one and finally ah black heaven ding-ding-ding-ding and and and and and and then hmm hey what the you got a problem a [Music] pile of living [ __ ] I do you dumbass freaky tourists [Music] I'll knock your head off one more huh freaky tourists oh come on Annie stop the end they are so knock you in here Oh [Applause] [Music] anythin they are are you one more I'm a folder like an omelet [ __ ] [Music] and that's all version I did change one line um we did actually have the original you one more huh see harder to people in Jersey for me but it didn't sound nearly as good as the one that he ad-libbed himself and it sounded way more natural and funnier to me are you one more I'm a fold you like a normal and [ __ ] so I went with that one and I think it fits but yeah I think this one is so much better I think just you know actually making the black guy sound like a real black person although very angry is there much improvement I think we definitely fix this one and I think it was because we just changed the white guy out I gotta say this one is like an 8 out of 10 for me maybe even a 9 out of 10 improvement I genuinely believe this is much better and that is including the Naruto music okay don't mention the original to me I don't wanna talk about it so yeah overall we improved some we didn't really improve any and that's voice acting if I want you to take away anything from this video it's that voice acting is hard and making a production is even harder and it's really easy to mess up one thing that makes the whole thing sound terrible in some of these situations it was the voice actor for example the black heaven clip with the white guy talking and lower-case that was definitely the voice acting that everything else in that production was amazing if we fix that and change it out it'll sound great it'll sound normal and again with the Megaman clip the voice acting was the pure problem with that one so when we changed the voice acting it sounds so so much better amazing job Pat once again but with the other two with Sailor Moon insight for the video I don't really feel that it was the voice acting fault for the Sailor Moon one I feel that it was just the script being way too condensed everything else was pretty okay in that except for maybe the fighting sound effects and the music but overall the Sailor Moon one we didn't really improve much and that was because the voice acting wasn't really that bad to begin with and finally with the cypher the video OVA anime thing everything in that is terrible especially the voice acting by changing the voice acting we don't really improve it that much because it kind of sucks and in fixing the voice acting isn't gonna make that any better and yeah you could get someone who is much better than me of and I still think that would sound and feel weird because the way the script is with the long gaps the staring peanut butter jelly for some reason the - yeah yeah it's all weird and and voice acting won't improve that that again is fundamental problems with the production in the anime itself but yeah it was fun I had fun I hope you guys had fun watching this video and I hope that you guys saw some of the improvements and
