[Music] and seeing the multitudes he went up into a mountain and when he was set his disciples came unto him and he opened his mouth and taught them saying blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy blessed are pure in heart for they shall see god blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of god blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake rejoice and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted the prophets which were before you god is good and all the time and those words from christ on the sermon of the mount are directed to believers not unbelievers it takes a believer to rejoice under persecution you didn't hear what i said let me take you to the bible and seeing the multitudes he went up into a mountain and when he was set his disciples came unto him and he opened his mouth and taught them now we are sure that the multitude overheard but christ went up into the mountain to get away from the multitudes but it always followed him but he went up to instruct his disciples the life described in the sermon on the mount is for the believer are you following me and so jesus says to you blessed are ye when your neighbor shall revile you or your supervisor shall revile you or a church member shall revile you rejoice and be exceeding glad because that's what was done to prophets of old including jesus who was a prophet god is good and all the time good evening everyone good evening to all our friends online wherever you are i wish i could see you god bless you thank you again your life online and in person i had a good day and i hope you had a good day as well did you did anyone have a particularly hard day can i see your hand you had a hard rough day anyone no okay you just sailed through the day well that's nice even if you had a hard day your presence here would tell me that god brought you through can you say amen don't look at how hard the day is look at who's standing with you and that is jesus christ our subject for this evening give and take what did i say give and take before i get into that let me ask you as usual to preserve reference in god's house if you're not using some electronic device make sure it does not ring make sure they're turned off fever number two while i'm speaking pray for me and say lord put your words in that man's mouth jeremiah chapter 1 verse 9 then the lord put forth his hand and touched my mouth and the lord said unto me behold i have put my words in thy mouth here is what jesus said of his words or his father's words the words that i speak unto you they are spirit and they are life those are the words i want to speak tonight and i say that very seriously and favor number three i want you to concentrate and think god has given you a very good mind apply it use it as you listen to the words of god and as you do that the spirit of god will guide that mental activity and wherever the spirit of god guides the path is always the path of truth let's pray father in heaven david said have mercy upon me o lord for i am weak that's what david said father if david can say that what am i supposed to say i need your help and so i call upon you in the name of jesus someone equal with yourself look upon me with favor not for my sake but for the sake of your glory in the proclamation of this message and for the sake of those who are listening look upon me with favor express that favor they god first by forgiving me if i have offended you please express that favor by granting me your spirit to control what i say and how i say it express your favorite god by literally putting your words in my mouth and express your favor to those listening by granting them comprehension understanding and the loving conviction of your spirit father there are people listening to me now who have coveted 19. or they have relatives who are sick i call upon you in the name of jesus and because you are a merciful god heal those persons their father i can only ask you must do the healing because i have no power but your merciful god heal them god remove covet 19 restore them to health i pray for the government of this country the government of the country of this host church kenya so many of your people are from that country bless them father but bless governments all over this globe let them make decisions that please you and remind them their god that the most high ruleth in the kingdoms of men now father use me for your glory and your glory alone i offer this prayer from my heart in jesus name let god's people say amen and amen our subject give and take it looks like 7 15 on the dot i'll release you by or before 8 o'clock i'm trying to keep these messages very simple so you can get the point that i believe the spirit of god is giving me to give to you when studying the bible in order to understand its message you have to understand who god is in genesis 1 26 no need to go there the creator said let us make man how in our image many of us we live by this statement let us make god in our image and because we have made god in our image we expect god to behave and react the way we behave and we react the romans had many gods that they got from the greeks the greeks had many gods jupiter or zeus i think the greeks call him zeus the romans jupiter then there was hera aphrodite aries and mixing roman and greek names but they made those gods and because they made the gods the gods would fight each other they committed adultery they stole one another's partners they started wars they would sulk that's what those gods did why because they were made in the image of human beings when you see god as a human being or in the image of humanity you will misunderstand the bible and you will absolutely misunderstand god we must remember that god is not the way we are go to psalm 50. psalm 50. we read from verse 16 of psalm 50. the 50th psalm reading from verse 16. do you have it if you have my version you may feel free to read with me but unto the wicked god saith what hast thou to do to declare my what statutes or that thou should stake my covenant into thy mouth verse 17 seeing thou hatest what instruction many people don't like advice and counsel thou hatest instruction and castest my words behind the verse 18 when thou sourced the faith then thou consentest with him and has been partaker with adulterers thou givest thy mouth the evil and thy tongue frienth deceit now read verse 20 with me thou sittest what and speakest against thy brother and slanderest thine own mother son so we have a list of things the sinners do listen to god as he finishes verse 28 all these things has now done can you believe with me what does that say thou thought is what i was altogether such a one as thyself what does that mean you thought i was just like you but i'm not i am different you thought i was just like you we need to understand tonight very clearly god is not the way we are jesus has human form but jesus is not the way we are he does not think the way we are he does not react the way we are he is not the way we are in by means of behavior he is the way we are physically he has human form but jesus is just like the father so god said thou thoughtest that i was all together such a one as thyself don't think i'm just like you says god don't cast me in your image the purpose of the gospel is to transform us into god's image what am i trying to say let's take a look at how god is psalm 103 reading verse 8 our subject give and take psalm 103 verse 8 or from verse 8. do you have that all right read with me the lord is merciful come on and gracious keep reading slaughter anger and plenty which means god does not have a temper now we do you offend me once and i fly off the handle listen to the bible the lord is merciful come on and gracious come on slaughter anger and plenteous in mercy next verse he will not always try or complain or condemn neither will he keep his anger forever now verse 10 is so comforting to me read with me he hath not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities in other words god doesn't give us what we truly deserve that will only happen when the wicked are punishing the fires of hell but until then god never gives us what we deserve go to psalm 78. it's a historical psalm read that entire psalm sometime all 72 verses it's a historical psalm dealing with god's uh interaction with his stubborn hard-headed and rebellious people and by the way we are no different let's read from verse 38 are you there but he being full of what compassion forgave their iniquity and destroyed them not many a time read with me now many a time turned he his anger away finished the verse and did not stir up all his wrath what does that mean many times god did not get as angry as he should have many a time he turned he his anger away and did not stir up all his wrath why read the next verse for me for he remembered what they were but flesh a wind that cometh and that passeth away cometh not again he remembered that they were but flesh what does that mean they were what start with the w then an e then an a then a k how many clothes do you need they were weak god knows you're weak go back to psalm 103 psalm 103 our subject give and take psalm 103. let's read verse 13 and verse 14. are you there read with me if you don't mind like as a father pitteth his children so the lord pity of them that fear him for he knoweth our frame first the verse he remembereth that we're dust that's what we read in psalms 78 verse 39 for he remembered they were but flesh a wind that passeth away and cometh not again god understands we are weak he understands that and so god has not yet poured out all his wrath on a nation or a person because that is not in the nature of god now having said that let's go back to psalm 103 we'll read verse 8. now let's go to micah micah 7 let's read verse 18. beautiful verse micah chapter 7 reading verse 18 let me pray again father as i continue the subject give and take speak through me i pray please in jesus name i appeal to you amen micah chapter 7 reading verse 18. towards the back of the bible daniel jose joel amos who can recite all 69 books of the bible in order can i see your hand in order oh god bless you god bless you god god god bless you i really mean that teach your children the books of the bible what book did i say micah what chapter 7 what verse 18 read with me who is a god like unto thee that pardoneth iniquity and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage he retaineth not his anger forever finish the first because he delighteth in mercy now what is the greatest act of mercy god can show you starts with an f very good forgiveness that's what calvary is about forgiveness take away calvary take away christ there's no forgiveness because forgiveness has to be just it must be consistent with god's law you cannot overlook sin or overlook the law unless sinners walk by forgiveness is that great act of mercy now micah 7 18 ends this way he delighteth come on in mercy question for you how many of you need mercy tonight can i see your right hand let me put it both of my we need mercy his mercies are new how often every morning now his great act of mercy is to forgive that's why jesus came let us go to uh zechariah chapter three what's our subject give and take zechariah chapter three it's 25 minutes after 7. zechariah find malachi the last book of the old testament work your way back and you will bump right into zechariah just before malachi right after hagiai do you have zechariah chapter three reading from verse one and he showed me joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the lord and satan standing at his right hand to resist him you have an enemy it's satan not christ let me say that again some people believe god is the enemy god has not given me a husband hasn't given me a promotion hasn't given me tuition we act as though god is our enemy it is not god that stands out your right hand to resist you it is satan and he showed me joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the lord and satan standing in his right hand to resist him and the lord said unto satan the lord rebuked thee o satan even the lord that hath chosen jerusalem rebuked thee is not this a brand plucked out of the fire verse 3 now joshua was what clothed with what filthy garments and stood before the angel and he answered and speaking of those that stood before him saying what take away the filthy garments from him and unto him he said what behold i have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee and i will do what clothe thee with come on change of raymond read verse 4 again and he answered them speaking to those that stood before him saying what take away the filthy garments from him what's our subject give and take now we have to take what are filthy garments tell me quickly sin sin only god can remove sins confession is good for the soul it's necessary but confession is not the act of removing sin confession confessions the act of admitting i admit i stole something or i lie that's confession repentance is to turn away but whether you confess or you repent both are gifts from god let me say it again no sinner can confess unless that person is prompted by the spirit of god no person can repent unless that person received the gift of repentance from god both confession and repentance are gifts from god and so the angel said i will take away the angel said take away the filthy garments from him and unto him he said behold i have caused that iniquity to pass from thee i i will take away your sins and i will clothe you with what look at the end of verse 4. we'll change of garment now how many garments do we have in that verse take three seconds and look we have two well we have the filthy garments yes and then we have change of raymond the filthy garments represent come on tell me sin the change of raymond the righteousness of jesus christ it's a give and a take what does god want you and me to give him our sins what do we take from him his righteousness forgiveness is the swap is that a good word an exchange i give you take that's simple give me your sins and take my righteousness we see this long before zechariah go to genesis 3. genesis 3. genesis chapter 3 we know adam and eve sin we know that we won't get into that those verses we read verse 7 and verse 8 of just verse 7. and the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked and they saw fig leaves together and made themselves come on aprons do we have one clothing in that verse come on yes what's it happens of leaves let's go to verse 21. read with me unto adam also and to his wife did the lord god make coats of skins and clothe them what did god paul tell joshua in zechariah i will clothe thee with change of raymond and so by reading zechariah 3 1-4 we can understand what happened in the garden of eden when god redeemed and rescued and forgave and justified adam and eve he removed one garment and replaced it with another so even though genesis does not say god took away the aprons of ladies he must have done that because symbolically and literally you cannot put off your sins god has to remove them by the blood of christ that's what god removed the aprons of leaves and replaced them with the coats of skins representing of course the righteousness of jesus christ because to get those skins an animal had to die blood had to be shed without shedding of blood there's no remission and so we reason through the bible now we're talking about forgiveness give christ your sins he'll give you his righteousness as simple as that believe it having said that let us go back to micah 7. and i want you to give god your sins tonight whether it's one sin or one million micah 7 let's read verse 18 again you have that father in heaven as i continue lord lavish your spirit upon me for your glory and the blessing of your people in jesus name i ask amen who is a god like unto thee that does what pardoneth iniquity pause micah is saying there is no other being in the universe like you why is that because of your willingness your quickness to do what forgive who does that says micah who forgives so quickly and so immediately but there's something else who is the god like unto thee that pardon with iniquity and passive by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage he retaineth not his anger forever finish the verse because he delighteth it now what puts joy on god's face an opportunity to forgive don't look at me look at the bible he delighteth in mercy some people delight in watching tik tok are you following me they delight in online they light your social media they delight in their basketball they delight god delights in mercy and the highest expression of mercy is forgiveness now if god delights in mercy why deprive him of the privilege of being delighted by not confessing our sins here's the problem we have and not you we many people perhaps someone listening to me this is what they say my sins are so great god can't forgive them i have hurt god too badly that's because we're viewing god through whose eyes our eyes you see we will not forgive those offences and so we assume that's the way god is we project our humanity onto god we project our narrow thinking unto god and we conclude incorrectly god cannot forgive me my sins are too great but we deprive god of the opportunity to do something in which he delights here's another problem we have we spend time looking at how bad we are and not at how good god is are you with me when i travel particularly internationally there's some airports i won't name them you have to wait on the sidewalk before you get into the terminal the long lines on the sidewalk i have seen these long lines ah father yeah god is good what he doesn't prevent he allowed long lines and it's hot in here there's a suitcase in the suit and okay so i see the lines and ah now if i'm going to the airport with president kenyatta are you with me there's someone's in the room i don't look at the lines where do i look at him because if i'm with him come on those lines are not a problem are you with me because he and i are going right through based on his position not mine take your eye off the long lines of your sins and put them away on president jesus as long as you look at your sins you'll be discouraged there's let's go to second corinthians 3 18 let me show you something which perhaps you've already seen second corinthians 3 18 our subject give and take looks like 25 to 8 looks like it i hope i'm right or something like that where's my nice little sister am i right okay okay thanks what book did i say second corinthians what chapter 3 what verse 18 and i'm trying to show you why you should not look at your sins are you there now you must read this with me but we but but we all with open face beholding as in a glass wall the glory of the lord what are we doing be holding stop what does that mean looking focusing beholding not just you pass by you see you beholding you're focusing you're staring but we all with open face be holding us in the glass what the glory of the lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory now beholding has an effect on you because what you stare at has a transformative effect on you now if all you do is look at your sins are you following where i'm going you will be affected by constantly beholding your sin beholding sin cannot produce righteousness because what you behold shapes you it molds you and so the bible says behold jesus that we might become like him then take your eyes of your sins i am not saying ignore your sins put your eyes on jesus and confess your sins don't keep looking at how many crimes you've committed that will not help look at christ don't behold your sins you'll become more and more like your sins because by beholding we become changed so you cheated on the exam why do you keep looking at that you made us cheat again look at jesus are you following me so you used to lie look at jesus who's the truth and look at jesus so you were disobedient to your parents because your friends of school are disobedient to theirs you look at jesus who the bible says submitted himself to the authority of his parents you look at what can change you in a positive direction so we've sinned and jesus says to us come unto me only that labor and a heavy laden there is no burden like guilt guilt unemployment won't kill you guilt will kill you as a matter of fact because of god's mercy no sinner feels the full weight of his or her guilt if that were the case the person would collapse there is no burden like the consciousness of having offended god guilt it shows up on the face jesus says come to me i will take away that burden that has you heavy laden i will give you rest therefore being justified by faith we have peace with god to give us rest christ deals with our sins my brothers and sisters give and take give god your sins and take his offered righteousness take my yoke upon you and learn of me in other words behold me focus on me and become like me jesus christ died that you and i might be forgiven there's no such thing as a sin god cannot forgive i was preaching somewhere and a man came to me he said can i talk to you i said yes he said i killed somebody 25 years ago he said it was self-defense and for 25 years i have wondered if god forgave me and i said did you confess he said yes i said you're forgiven now god's forgiveness does not save you from secular consequences are you following me did god forgive the thief on the cross yes or no did he take him off the cross no but that's not his biggest problem being on the cross his biggest problem was am i right with that man hanging in the middle sometimes god will leave you on your cross to save you the big problem is not your cross my problem is not my cross it is my sins and so tonight god says to us come confess say to god i'm wrong now let me show you how confession is a gift go to acts chapter 5. acts chapter 5 we read 13 31 acts chapter 5. this is peter speaking looks like 20 to 8. do you have acts chapter 5 who wrote the book of acts look yes very good i give you top marks luke wrote acts what other book did luke write luke yeah okay luke uh not luke acts chapter five let's read thirteen thirty one when you found that cmn with me what does that say verse 30 read it for me the god of our fathers raised up jesus whom you slew and hanged on the tree him hath got exalted with his right hand to be what a priest come on and a savior finish the verse to give repentance to israel and forgiveness of sins repentance is a gift from god he puts the urge to repent in us then we act on that urge go to romans chapter two romans chapter two you read verse four just after acts as romans chapter 2 verse 4. do you have that read with me what does that say or despises thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering not what knowing that the goodness of god come on leadeth thee to repent it is god's love that pushes you come on repent because i want to save you repent let's go to second timothy chapter 2. let's read verse 25 ii timothy chapter 2 verse 25. do you have that not yet okay ii timothy all young men should reach second timothy and first timothy and titus you know timothy was a teenager when paul called him to work with him he was a teenager teenagers can do great work for god mm-hmm second timothy chapter two verse 25 are you there read with me in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves if god per adventure will give them what repentance to the acknowledging of the truth it is god that gives repentance second timothy chapter 2 verse 25 it is god that gives repentance acts 5 31 it is god that gives repentance romans 2 verse 4 and wherever you see repentance you must see confession because confession comes first confession is admitting wrong then i turn from it but you have to know what you're turning from wherever you see repentance you see confession what's our subject give what do we give what do we take the righteousness of christ zechariah joshua stood before the angel the angel said take away what the filthy garments what does that mean only christ can take away our sins we can confess them he alone can remove them i will clothe thee with change of raymond so it is christ who removes them it is christ who puts on his righteousness and we found that in micah 7 18 who is a god like unto thee then someone may say what makes him so special that pardoneth iniquity anything you do and you confess god will forgive so please give up the idea that you are too bad for god to forgive you denying god the delight of doing what he loves to do which is forgive who is a god like unto thee that pardon his iniquity and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage there may be someone in prison listening to me god will forgive you the authorities may not let you go but in prison god can forgive you and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage he retaineth not his anger forever because he delighteth in it pleases god to forgive and that's the mind we must have tonight is there anyone who needs to say father i'm sorry for this or that is there someone who needs to say father forgive me can i see that hand hands down now you need to say it now will you say it if your answer is yes stand up with me if you will say forgive me stand up and we will pray we will give and let christ we will take give our sins and then we'll take the robe of righteousness christ offers us it is an exchange you see there are no vacuums in god's system there's no vacuum in nature there's no vacuum spiritually when the sins are removed immediately they're replaced with something else the righteousness of christ which is an obedient life heads bowed eyes closed here's what i want you to do pray 30 sec that's all say father forgive me for this this all this and especially forgive me for thinking that i am too bad to be forgiven forgive me for that because that gives me the wrong idea for you forgive me to god and help me to believe that i am forgiven you pray that prayer 30 seconds then i will pray father in heaven we thank you that you do not lie your word says if we confess you're faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness big and small we thank you thank god for the simplicity of this process your spirit impresses us to confess and repent we do that we give our sins to you and we take your righteousness in return father forgive us right now because it is something you delight forgive us now let us leave this place walking on air in the sense that the burden of sin and guilt have been removed let us not wait to feel forgiven dear god let us simply take you at your word my head's about and eyes are closed is there someone else who needs to make a decision for baptism can i see your hand you need to make a decision for baptism can i see your hand and i'll be asking every night until we close father in heaven let your spirit continue to work on the mind of that man that woman that boy or girl who needs to make this serious decision i pray take us safely home when we leave bless us as we fellowship with the meal i pray in jesus name let god's people say amen and amen you may be seated
