Fishing A Duck Lure For MONSTER Pike!

how's it going everyone i'm back out here on the river again today i was at the same spot about a week ago with a friend of mine we really hammered the pike and found a few muskies back here in this little backwater area so i figured i'd come back and give another try now the water level has dropped a foot or two since then so i'm hoping we'll still find a few back here one other thing i did notice last time we were here was that there was a couple of families of ducks with some little ducklings swimming around and that got me to thinking you know what i've got a duck lure at home so i brought that out with me today i've got this savage gear 3d duck we'll go throw that around and see if we can get the attention of any pike or muskie with that little duckling there are a lot of floaty weeds back here so that might make fish in this topwater lure kind of difficult but do the best we can to cast around them wow geez that one hammered that duck that's a good sized fish too oh honey sped it right next to me well that's a good sign they're definitely interested in that duck that was freaking crazy that is a nice pike too yeah i'd hate to be a baby duck back here that's probably why i haven't seen you the ones i saw last week out here today i bet at least a few of them are in the bellies of some of these pike by now you get in there that is a beast of a pike jeez look at the size of that pike he's got a crazy evil eye there too first one i got in the net today what a fish now that right there is why i love fishing pike on topwater he's got some teeth marks in them already so like i mentioned earlier i'm throwing the savage gear 3d suicide duct today and i'm using my six foot six medium heavy fast action saint croix bass x rod for that i've got a quantum vapor reel i'm running 30 pound power pro super slick v2 braid on that today and i did add about an eight inch leader that i tied on of 50 pound fluorocarbon right in front of that lure that's to prevent those pike from biting me off i used that setup the other day when i was out here and it worked great let's keep throwing that duckling around see if we can get another one man that first one's gonna be a hard one to top not only was that fish huge but the way he chased that duck up and i got him to bite right next to the kayak that was awesome oh swinging a mess he came back for it oh that was so awesome the pike yet spike i wasn't sure if that was a pike or a muskie there for a second come on over here oh look at that even unhooked himself for me it's always nice big pike and treble hooks kind of freaked me out jeez look at the size of that pike i'm getting some monsters on that little duckling lure out here today oh my gosh that is such a rush when you see a fish chasing that lure back or even a big wake following it and i'm having a blast out here fishing these pike i do kind of like the hook configuration on this lure there's a couple little hook keeper wires that hold those trebles in place so far my hookup ratio is pretty good with that thing i did lose one fish but i hooked into them at least oh my gosh that is a monster pike so oh he is not happy so i hope he's not quite ready to give up yet gotcha jeez look at the size of that bike wow these three pike today and they've all been monsters it does not get much more exciting than big pike on topwater a couple of fish chase that duck back and hit it right next to my kayak that is such a rush when that happens pretty happy with that duck too worked real well you can see those little feet kick up it's almost like a double plopper the pike definitely liked that thing my 50 pound fluorocarbon leader held up well for anybody who's curious as to what i use for that i've got this daiwa j fluoro 50 i've used that for a few trips now targeting pike i haven't lost a lure yet so that 50 pound fluoro is some good stuff for pike leaders you know what i didn't see out here for those baby ducks i saw last week hopefully the pike didn't eat them all maybe the mama ducks wised up and got the ducklings out of here because i sure would not want to be a little duckling back in this area and probably be a scary short life keep the pike happy though nice and fat and healthy oh an awesome afternoon i sure enjoyed it i hope you guys did too thanks for coming along with me again i'll see you next time
