We had to shoot this HUGE fish for our safety (100 Pounder!)

so this is basically the last day I'm in Alaska and we're gonna try to target a bunch of different things see what the biggest fish we can catch are so we're gonna try to get like a huge 45 inch 50 inch lingcod today not to get your hopes up for anything just want to show you a variety of the fish you can catch up here remember we're still on the west coast so a lot of the same fish down in California except up here I don't know why exactly they get bigger like that but they're huge so I got three captains on board today absolute Alex and TJ you just look for help at ease is that the main thing when you're looking for lingcod rockfish yeah they like this kelp yeah everything that they eat lives in the kelp - kelp green wings their primary diet is rockfish and they like to live right in this Cove so you guys saw that package of those 18 ounce jig heads and those swim baits so that's what we're gonna throw on these heavy jigging rods right now like tipping it with squid except tipping it with salmon yep a little stink on it yep sit her down so these swivels you just squeeze a little bit put it through the eye of a jig head a little different but pretty secure it looks like dan before I could even get rigged up Tom hooked up onto a big one so before I start fishing let's see what he got all right let's see our first Alaskan link on yeah we're keeping that not expecting that look at that can't put your foot you put your foot next to him look at that thing so what's the rule with lings what's the slot what's the fly so he's right right we got a punch dad's license after we get these wings topless lock ring so he's about to get bumped - Ben we're angry if you weren't happy with you so that's like what you coming to Alaska for you get it filleted up and you get it shipped home with a big link how heavy is it 5:00 5:30 all right let me get on one let me get on with this rod is a four foot ten casting rod 80 to 200 pound line with a lure weight 300 to 400 grams [Music] so this is pretty much like the same thing if you were on a charter boat in California just jigging drifting with swimbaits whatever it is it's probably the biggest thing I ever caught what you think it is Matt I think it's probably a link I mean oh that's another link it's not bad actually my biggest one is 17 pounds so this is a little smaller than that I think I was nice yeah so Ali's just caught this yellow lion we want to show you guys after you bought him because we're gonna keep him how quick he loses his colors so check out how ready is right now and just watch how fast he turns white pink maybe that's like 15 seconds yeah yeah same with the bottom line you always want to bleed your life snitch I'll take care of me so I got three guys digging up with these 18 ounce jig heads so if they catch something I'll switch back but for now I brought my spinning rod and a little four inch swim bait with two ounces I don't even know if I can get it down but we'll see it's got a bite yeah they make bottom with that yeah it feels good to have a left-handed real Oh little swimbait I caught about four rockfish on cut off the head so I can put this the wire in the front I'm gonna fish this until I can't so there's no more swim bait yeah don't want to keep catching these anymore it's gotta be something else in there I don't see why a ling wouldn't fight this if it came across him you will I like I like that oh yeah just keep him down there for a little bit oh no look what that that's pretty cool man never seen one like that that's cool cool colors huh so many types of rock there's so many varieties that's about what we catch out in Cali yeah yeah yeah that is for sure was that probably 27 all right all right I'll fish the swim bait I started fishing that 14 ounce swim bait wasn't you know first thing I catch another quill back and catching these all day long probably caught about five or six of them just gonna knock this little guy off the hook and there's some pink salmon on the deck so I'm getting a little strip of it and putting it straight on the hook meat side in through the hook first skin side on top that way stays on the hook really well I drop it down all the way down and you know what I'm just gonna let this entire clip play out by itself we're only in about 80 feet of water so I'll let it hit the bottom immediately I get a bite small little bite feels like another quill back so I set the hook you'll see that in a second there's the bite I thought it was a little cool back getting ready to set the hook yeah thought I miss it reel up a little bit want to drop back down so I'm about to open up the Bale and boom there it is let's see what ensues in the next five minutes yeah I have a good idea whatever it is a good fish usually possible oh it's on I didn't move it oh man he's a fighter how's the picture look all the way I'll just stand over here Oh fighting it for like a minute two minutes the group agree yeah he's taking line is the green light on on the back thing cool yeah he's taking mine yeah yeah turn it on so you can hear it unless the drag is loose but no I don't think so I didn't adjust it at all he's a big fish he's taking line still that's what we came to Alaska for that's why you go on these charters came up to the table and I made a good run back down this is the biggest one of my life Mercer bigger than that first thing that first thing is probably yeah so there's a barn door as they say what's a barn door then so this is like a barn door the size of a barn door there's a reason there's a gun sitting right there right yeah you're the shot of that gun so that's what you use if you catch something big that you don't want flopping around on deck man he's coming mo nice coming one throwdown geez I wonder how what is this thing it's got to be a held it right for sure what else could it be besides a big ling possibly yeah I mean it could be like you get skates and sharks and stuff like that but they don't think you're gonna tell things gonna make another run all right how's that bringing about just slow and steady you guys do the work yeah he's pretty big Hanuman yeah we need to shoot him yeah yep pop him in the head pop actually pop them in the back man get him up on the circuit first came up on this earth [Applause] now here we go let's fish hundred boundaries yeah it's very important to let everybody know that yeah yeah all on film you know I'm thinking that could break a hundred Oh a hundred so people were to go on the charter boat the legal size for out of resident is that what it is is 20 or not it's 38 inches 38 inches we're not on a charter we can keep that legally so if you come out here to catch can on the Charter you can go halibut fishing but something like this you would not be able to keep when I see them fight just the rod about oh he's 40 50 you know yeah Chris those rods don't bend very much down a good cooler full of fish to see that first bite I had TJ I don't think it was this Oh Mike yeah holy that's a that's like a barn door it's like the same size is this that's what he bid on right turn on the set it down and then it 3-0 36
