Pike And Muskie Were CRUSHING The Whopper Plopper!

holy crap how's it going everyone back out here on the river again today we're gonna try for some pike smallmouth bass maybe some muskie you never know what you might catch out here on the river it's a big part of the fun of river fishing i've got my buddy jake up here wrote in north dakota today let's go see what we can catch so right now here the water level is up the current is pretty fast so we paddle up toward the dam there's this little backwater area that i'm working through right now i've got a whopper popper 110 tied on see if we can find anything willing to hit topwater over here this afternoon found some muskie and pike back here in the past and with the water level being up i'd imagine that should improve our chances of finding something back here today got him that one crushed that plopper oh sweet it's a little musky come here oh a nice fish nice pike to start off the day absolutely beautiful fish another decent little pike so i figured i'd upsize my plopper today i've got the 110 size perch color here and i do have a leader i tied on there of 50 pound fluorocarbon in front of that i've got 30 pound braid i figured bring out my medium heavy setup out here today so i can get those fish in a little bit quicker i've got my six foot six medium heavy fast action saint croix bass x rod with a quantum vapor reel like i said i'm running 30 pound braid on there i've got power pro super slick v2 just in case we find a big one out here today i know this river's got them see that that was sick i cannot believe i got that fish to bite gotcha that was crazy get that hook god yeah wow that's a pretty nice pike beautiful fish probably good 34 35 inches long i bet that was one of the craziest catches of my life though the way that didn't chase that lure back looks like there's something chasing him there is oh it's a nice musky nice musky chase that lower back that was a real nice muskie [Applause] come back come back i thought i had it there oh that fish is hungry we're gonna get that one we are going to catch that fish i've gotten that time that's that same fish or not but it's big whatever it was nope it's a pike not huge he's a decent one though i'm gonna try to back out of this little area where i had that musky chase my lure up this way don't end up right on top of them over there come here decent pike it's a nice healthy looking pike another one on the plopper and i love catching these things on top water holy that's a big fish all right come on up here oh no oh check it he was a big pike he looked like he was probably about 40 inches oh man that is a bummer i can't believe that even losing that one it's been an awesome day out here though the tail's still spinning kind of funny holy crap right after i lost that big one over here i wonder if that's the same fish it might be it might be the same fish both the same size i cannot believe he'd be willing to come back and hit that thing again after being hooked for a good 20 seconds or so he's quite done yet actually got my bail open right now i'm just using my thumb as a drag i really wonder if this is that same fish that i hooked right before all right come on up don't let that here get caught on the paddle we're just gonna go ahead first into the net jeez look at the size of this pike that is a monster on the plop or two how awesome is that we'll get back in the water here ready to go there he goes i cannot believe that i really wonder if that was the same fish but i hooked maybe a minute or two before and lost them then about two casts later that one absolutely blasted that plopper right in front of me i think i should probably re-tie my leader this is getting a little bit nicked up but that 50-pound fluorocarbon is really holding up well to these pike i always hate using a steel leader with top water i feel it causes the nose end to sink plus the leader itself sinks so it'll sink down in front of the lure if you pause it those fish might see it i've always thought that might make them a little bit spooky it has been an awesome day out here i do think i'm gonna paddle back out to the river here and see if i can find jacob just make sure he's catching some fish because yeah i'm having a heck of a time back here if he's not catching anything out there we're gonna tell him to come back here with us yeah it probably doesn't hurt to figure eight it or play around or the next kayak a little bit too it is kind of deep in here i tried dropping my power pole and it wouldn't wouldn't touch bottom i mean it probably went up on top of the hump there where i just threw that but i know on the other side over there it wouldn't touch got him it's big whatever it is you see that malt just come up and grab that thing like jaws pike big pike i got my net holy crap oh he just got a big head on him come on over here i'm gonna get that one in my net that's a nice pike there's more from that size back here too they are liking that topwater today i gotta get him back over here this guy just does not want to give up all right i got the hooks out of that guy take a quick look at him geez that is a big pike he's thrashing he's ready to go oh yeah there he goes man it has been an awesome day got him musky it's a musky yep spotted musky not a huge one he's a decent one though this has been a crazy day big pike now a muskie on the flopper it's not a bad fish at all on over here just barely got him hooked right in the upper lip there oh look at that he shook it for me gonna make things easy come here dude oh he just bit me pretty good take a quick look at that guy did get my thumb a little bit so i'm gonna have to super glue my thumb wound but we'll release this guy first nice musky on the whopper clopper it doesn't get much more exciting than that got him i don't think he's real big but he's a decent one whatever it was oh what do we have here pike make me nervous when you guys do that i'm already nervous the way it is my freaking thumb kind of wounded another decent little pike on that whopper plopper 110 perch color it has been crazy out here today they've been slamming that lure well it's been an awesome day lots of big pike even a bonus muskie and they were crushing that plopper so i had a lot of fun hope you guys enjoyed it thanks for coming along with me again i'll see you next time
