Finally Answering Your Most Frequently Asked Questions – How You Can Also Learn Body Language

you all asked me a lot of questions I'm gonna answer some of them for you that's next welcome back to the channel shakers Derrick van Schaik here so this is long overdue many of you asked me to do this type of frequently ask you a to kind of answer some of these frequently asked questions many of you keep asking me so we're gonna finally do that we're gonna sit down and we are going to answer your frequently asked questions I've a whole list of them here so what we're gonna do is we're gonna go through each of these and you're gonna get to know me a little better now let's get started the first question do the people you do videos on ever contact you yes they actually do and they're usually not very happy I made a video on them sometimes it results in a threat sometimes it results in them showing pictures of themselves that I would rather not see sometimes it results but other times when the video is not negative against somebody sometimes they'll reach out to me and it's quite interesting because it's like kind of a cool conversation because I just did a video on them and you know now I'm conversing with them over email or something like that the next question how can I send you video suggestions you can send video suggestions through Instagram and Twitter or preferable or you can also send it through pigeon carrier and smoke signal you get a lot of hate how do you handle YouTube hate I cry every night I cry I cry no I don't care about YouTube it's like the funniest thing because I think a lot of people especially when you start out understandably it's gonna bother you and when I first was on YouTube and my first comment ever was from a hater first comment ever and of course I was like oh my gosh did I do something wrong should I take the video down what happened you know but then you know after a few hate comments you just like just become immune to it it's like whatever and I think that's the big thing that is very important especially when you're starting out on YouTube is really really knowing who is saying this stuff does that person nowyou has that person ever met you do you know them they don't know you you don't know them and they're just saying something that based on what you said or how you look you know who cares so as you can tell that's how I deal with the hate comments I cry my pillow every night the next question do you read your youtube comments keep in mind I get a lot of comments so it's really impossible for me to read every single comment that comes through the channel otherwise it would be a full-time job I wouldn't be doing anything else if all I was doing is just reading the comments that are coming through my videos so keep that in mind but I also am able to read some of the comments when I first post the video so that's typically when I read a lot of the comments it's just really getting a general feel for how you're taking the video how you taking the video topic the next question do you read the emails and dm's we send you absolutely not I just throw em away no I'm kidding I read of all so pretty much like the emails DMS yeah I read them all if you really want to get in contact with me like right away and really want me to see whatever you're posting whatever you're writing you probably wanna post on my Instagram picture and the reason why is because I don't really get that many comments on my Instagram pictures and I don't have that much activity yet I am on Instagram all the time throughout the day so you know if you want like me to see it right away that type of thing yeah probably on my Instagram pictures that next question what do you do with the video suggestions we send you I actually put them in my Notes app and I just keep a running list I keep a mental note of how many people are asking for the same video and if a lot of people are asking for the same video then it becomes really high on my list so you know don't ever think that hey I'm sure everyone that's Derek to make this video I don't have to ask him they don't worry about you no no no put on my Instagram picture or send me a DM or whatever so I hear it a lot so I'm aware that this is something you guys who really want to see so I'll put it high on my priority list of making a video that next question will you be posting videos from outside the studio for us to get to know you better absolutely not I'm a very private person No kidding I actually have a vlog channel so if you want to catch up with my life and see what I'm doing and I'm focusing the vlog channel towards automotive so if you're interested in automotive you may want to subscribe check it out but on this channel I am occasionally gonna be posting some vlog content so that you all can kind of get to know me a little better right so I get that a lot of you are just subscribed to this channel and yet you still want to know who this guy is that's always talking about body language and you know who you know who is the outside of the studio I understand that so I'll probably be posting some vlog content that's like big in my life like big life events on my main channel the main channel will at least in the foreseeable future will be body language and investigations you know that's the core of this channel but keep in mind too this channel is called derrick van Schaik channel it's not called body language 24/7 so I consider it the main channel of my social media presence so if there's anything big that I want a lot of people to see I'm gonna post it on my main channel the next question what advice would you give someone wanting to start on YouTube start literally start there's so many people that always tell me oh I want to start a YouTube channel good start it's free to start you all have a really good camera on your phone start you know just start that's the first thing the second thing is continuously do it you know don't stop keep going that third thing is just keep improving just keep improving as you go always look at your previous video as you go with a critical eye okay what could have been better and sometimes when you start getting comments people will naturally start telling you what you could have done better and they're not necessarily always haters they're just very critical people so there's also a difference between critical people and haters and sometimes there's a blur between the two where a critical person is also a hater and there's a reason why they're being critical because they're a hater you know something of some of that going on but you also have to be able to decipher some of that too right and be able to say okay I see that maybe the way they said it wasn't the nicest way but there's something that they're really getting at that I need to be improving on the next question are you that way in your videos in real life why do you think I'm going on dates and saying now I'm gonna read your body language that would be funny that would be a good vlog that would be a good vlog just surprise a girl on a date be like one of the first things I say to her here's the thing do you act the same way with your boss as you act with your boyfriend or girlfriend right do you act the same way with your boyfriend and girlfriend as when you're at the soccer field playing soccer with a whole bunch of friends you know are you the same way with your friends on the soccer field yelling and yelling to each other across the field as you are when you're holding your newborn niece or nephew for the very first time right so are you not being authentically yourself when you're in all of those for example situations you know and then it's like well who's the real you type think no of course not it's just a different version of you okay so similar with me that this is a very excited version of Derrick when he wants to share something with somebody day's really excited about but I don't normally act like when I'm just like hanging out with friends or something I'm not like this intense and this full of energy there's a reason why I am like this on camera because I'm excited to share things with you guys and also I don't want to be the boring youtuber that's just there talking about some things about body language how boring is that there's plenty of boring body language channels if that's what you're looking for but I'm not gonna be that guy okay I enjoy what I do I'm excited about what I present and I'm not gonna be just any boring body language guy that's just gonna put everyone to sleep next question why do you look like Jim Carrey hey here's my question why does Jim Carrey look like me no actually I don't get that a lot I occasionally get that like in my you know before I've been on YouTube I would occasionally get hey you know has anyone said you look like Jim Carrey because of the hair I guess and maybe some of the facial features and a big smile I think there's some of that but overall I haven't really got much of that throughout my life because I guess I'm not a very big smile or believe it or not some of you might be a little shocked by that I remember my mom actually telling me when I was a little kid uh you know Derek you don't smile that much and you should smile more because you look really good when you smile but apparently I just look like Jim Carrey who a nice smile I don't know and one of these days and maybe in one of my videos at the very end of my video I'm gonna sneak it in there where I'm gonna do a Jim Carrey impression I'm gonna do it when did you start YouTube I actually started in October of 2006 and that was on my vlog channel but I of course I wasn't very consistent on my vlog channel but nevertheless I'm one of the OGS of YouTube and that vlog channel you're probably wondering maybe you like Wow maybe he's a real big vlogger you know no no it only has like 200 subscribers so it's pretty pitiful so we can really use your help so if you can subscribe to the vlog channel it'll help myself as Steve the next question what do you do other than YouTube I do a lot of other things um okay so keep in mind - I have five channels and totals not all of my posts all the time but I am consistently posting sporadically on all of the channels so there's some of that going on - I don't just have this one main channel so there's a reason why I just don't post every day on this main channel that's the first thing I'm also an entrepreneur I do investing and some consulting work - so it's not like this one main channel is all I do no it's not like that I keep myself very very very busy the next question why don't you ever say or hint at what video topic will be next it's because there's a lot of copycats out there that's why they feel like they can get the video out before you can and they know what video you're gonna be putting out they're gonna try to put the video out to undercut you so it's a little cutthroat on YouTube so you can't always be totally transparent unfortunately of what you're gonna be putting out next the next question what do you look at when you look off over to the side in your main channel videos what do you think it's my screen I'm looking at the footage or I'm looking at some of my notes that I've punched out to make sure I hit the exact points that I want to hit for that specific point in the video the next question what are you putting out merch we actually have merch out now go get yourself some go get your mom go get your dad go get your cousin's go get your brothers your sister your kids everyone merch now I sound like Jake Paul the next question what microphone do you use okay so for my main channel videos the big microphone with a microphone arm you always see that is a shure sm7b and i also have a lot of other equipment if you want to check out all the other equipment that i use it's listed and linked in the description the next question what is your net worth 100 billion dollar I don't know you have to ask my accountant are you single and are you straight yes and yes the next question Republican or Democrat here's the thing I don't like being put in a box and like saying okay you're in this box so you must believe all of this you're in that box and you believe all of that I don't like that feelings the next question are you concerned that the people you do videos on will come after you for exposing them why would you ever say that why would they ever be mad at me oh my videos only get a few hundred thousand views sometimes millions of views and you know everyone knows the truth about them here's the thing I'm not really concerned I make sure I take the proper precautions I have a lot of security here I live in a secure area secure building the next question how do you decide on a video topic I decide on a video topic based on basically two things first thing is what you guys want to see and the second thing is what I want to make and they have to come together okay so sometimes there's something that you want to see but something I don't want to make so even if I were to make the video I probably wouldn't make it that good because I'm not really into it and if it's something that I want to make and something that you guys don't want to see then it's kind of a lose-lose - because then I just wasted a lot of time making a video that's only gonna get a few thousand views so it's really just those two things I need to know that a lot of you want me to make the video and I have to really want to make the video that's pretty much it the next question what are you running for president let's put it this way if Logan Paul runs for president I will run against Logan Paul to save the world from Logan Paul as president of the United States now the years I was here I wish do to president that's right 2032 [Music] next question do you own your channels or is it just owned by a corporate MCN if you're not familiar an MCN is a multi-channel network so basically what happens is that these big companies come in and buy pieces of youtube channels like a portion of a YouTube channel and they do that across many YouTube channels and what they tell creators is that they're gonna help their channel boom they're gonna go in you know market them and help with promotions and really get them to be a star youtuber and typically it doesn't work out that way at least what I've heard and of course in return that company gets a share of the revenue that's coming in to that YouTube channel and yeah I am not part of any MCN all of my channels are 100% owned by me and it's gonna stay that way and I can never imagine ever selling out to any company because I like having full control over what I say in full control over my channel and for you guys to know when you're watching my channel or you know supporting my channel supporting what we do here that it is not supporting a big company that's just getting them rich and you know it's not really going right to me so I'm always gonna own all of my channels and I think it's absolutely crazy to sell out to one of those corporate emcee ends and you know I feel like doing that you're always gonna be limiting yourself you know anytime you have a company in there doing something and another hand in the pot you're always not gonna have full voice of what you're saying I just pick up the microphone and say what I want to say and that's what I like that's what I love about YouTube that I can just do this that I don't have to answer to a big corporation and say oh is this okay if I say this or how about this or is this part of our strategy or long term and short term strategies you know I don't like that you know I don't think you guys like that either I think you just like the idea that it's just me and you guys that's it you know it's not anyone else no one else has their hand in the pot here is just me and you guys that's it and I think that's the way it should be on YouTube and I think it's a little creepy when you do have some of these MC ends owning some of the channels that you all watch and you don't even know it and they don't even tell you and it's like and then you naturally start wondering is that creator not saying everything that they want to say are they not very open with you because they have another corporate body that's telling them everything that they should be doing from a corporate standpoint and from a long-term short-term strategy stream standpoint for them to also maximize their amount of revenue that they're gonna get it's absolutely crazy I hate that why don't you do brand deals I don't do brand deals because I don't want a corporation telling me what to do I may in the future figure out something where I can do a brand deal but I don't want it where they're gonna be like oh well we need to vet your video and make sure the video is brand friendly I don't want that I don't want a big corporation a big corporate establishment group telling me what I can and cannot say on my channel what I can and cannot say in my videos to you guys you know and what videos I can and cannot make so if I'm gonna do a brand deal with somebody they're not gonna be telling me what I can and cannot say on my youtube channel the next question are there any topics that you avoid yes I do I avoid politics typically but you may be saying well you made a Joe Biden video recently what happened with that one why did you make that one the reason why is because it was so obvious what was going on and no one was really talking about it so I was like okay if it's really obvious and no one's talking about it I'm gonna talk about it and make it blatantly obvious for the whole world to see that this actually happened and you can draw your own conclusions of what you think should or should not happen with Joe Biden you know um but the truth has to come out especially when no one's talking about the truth it's just not out there it's like okay if no one wants to say it I'll say it because it's really obvious if it wasn't that obvious and say a lot of people were also talking about it I probably would not have made the video but because it was very obvious and no one was talking about it I was like okay I see a massive opportunity here to reveal the truth and the truth has to come out because it's blatant and no one's talking about it the next question do you watch any other body language channels no unless I want to be put to sleep that's the only time I would ever consider watching one of those channels they're usually so ridiculously boring why do you have so many channels and which should I subscribe to you should subscribe to any of the ones you want to subscribe to and I have a lot of channels to make it tell you if your husband's cheating on you I don't want to get involved in personal romantic issues so I don't even go there the next question how do you know body language so that's one of the most common questions I get I have degrees in social sciences and behavioral sciences but that's not specifically why I know body language so well degrees and coursework are great to get a solid foundation on the subject matter but to actually become really good at it you have to go beyond just your degree or coursework the first reason is that I read and study body language every single day and I have been doing that for many many years this is not like one of those things where it's like oh well you know I'm gonna read a book for a week or a month and then there you go no it's reading studying applying what you learned every single day and doing that over and over for many years that's how you become a master at whatever you're doing the second thing is reading studying around body language every single day as well and applying that every single day so this is not just okay I'm gonna read just books on body language also study everything around body language all the psychology and all the human influence around body language so it's not just so focused where you only know just ok well certain movements mean this and certain movements mean that and this is what that means right you actually understand the entire picture of what someone is doing but that's what I would recommend for anybody who's in any field right don't study your individual field exactly specifically and just do that every single day but also read and study everything around your field and apply that every single day and the third thing is similar to Talent not saying necessarily that I'm talented at reading body language I haven't really thought too much about that but I'm talking more about being very observant of things if you're more observant that will help you read body language a lot more because you're not gonna let all those little things that are happening just fly over your head you'll be able to piece all that together and make sense of it the next question what's the best way to know how to read body language here's the thing there's not just one good book that everyone could read that will tell you everything you need to know about body language it just not like that so unfortunately it's gonna be a lot of books but reading a lot of books on body language will help you get a lot of different insights and you'll be able to kind of piece everything together from all the different books also if you really want to know how to read body language I highly recommend that you reread the books over and over and over and then apply apply apply everything that you've learned either from the books or from my videos every single day throughout your life to be able to be really good at reading people in those cases where you really feel like you need to read people whether it's your kids or maybe it's your boss or maybe you're asking for a raise or maybe you're negotiating a house or something like that also when you're reading a book on body language I highly recommend that ya pause in between sections and pause between things to think about examples in your own personal life that's gonna help things to really sink into your brain and help you to remember it throughout your life the next question did you ever work for the CIA or any secret government agencies that's classified I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you but I can't say that some of my videos are used to teach some government agencies how to properly read body language and I know that because I can't say any more than that the next question what was your most memorable video the bob lazar video it has to be because when I first started to piece all that footage together you know I started to kind of do into it and started to look at the footage preliminarily initially I just assumed I was like this guy he claims he worked on alien spacecraft at area 51 okay what a liar and then I read his body language and then I started to do the research and then all the things started to come together and then I remember one specific moment where he said something completely outrageous I was like whoo what a lie and then I was waiting for the lying body language to appear and I'll hit play waiting for it to appear and never appeared and I remember just shouting at the top of my lungs when I was watching it alone kind of like doing the preliminary research and saying holy SH Shh it was like at that moment the universe just shifted you know where everything that I ever thought completely shifted everything became possible things that I never thought of became possible and it just became this thing of oh my goodness there's so much more to everything there's so much more to our government there's so much more about alien life and also possibilities of different theories of human origin on this planet so really my whole paradigm just shifted through making that video and that's what I wanted to come across for everybody if you notice in the beginning of that video I made it like okay I'm gonna bust this guy what a liar this guy is let me put on the tinfoil hat it and let's make fun of this guy and then it started to become oh my goodness he's actually truthful and of course with basically all of my videos it's not just about body language only I use body language as just one tool to help us arrive to the truth and in addition to body language we also bring in and piece together all the evidence and try to figure out what's happening so when we're talking about Bob Lazar also know that it's also all the other evidence combined with a body language it's not just you know a body language only so I think a lot of you know that the ones that you know have watched a lot of my videos that I be just don't talk about only body language we also piece everything together the next question is body language real you wouldn't believe the skeptics of people who are like I don't believe in body language you don't believe in body language in that case let's stop using emojis what do you think emojis are they're purely body language and not only stop using emojis if someone sends you an emoji then you should ask them what is that emoji mean you know I don't understand what you mean by including this face come on it's just hilarious the next question how does it feel to be shadow band I will say though not all of my videos are shadow band just a few videos that I'm really pissed that their shadow band this video here is shadow band and I think it's shadow band because they demonetised it and said that they demonetised it because it promoted dangerous and harmful acts in the video what that video right here and I of course I'm gonna have to blur it out a little bit because otherwise something else maybe your shadow band yeah and that's why it was demonetised which I don't think it should have been demonetised in the first place but I think because it was demonetised as that they don't want to be putting it in people's feeds because otherwise that would be kind of promoting dangerous and harmful acts in people's feeds and that's why I think that one was shadow band that's just an assumption of mine because if you asked the greater people up there in this social media platform okay they deny all of it they say that the only thing that determines whether or not someone sees the video or not and whether or not the video is in someone's feed they have said this is only the click-through rate and the duration that's watched that's it that's what they said and that's completely bogus it's not true I have seen this time and time again that they just don't show certain videos if it doesn't go hundred percent aligned with what they want out there the most annoying part of all of this is them completely denying it and basically like no no it's all in your head it's all in your head that's not how it works bogus completely bogus that's not true I have seen it firsthand time and time again if they want a shadow ban of course I'm not gonna be very happy that they're doing it but at least I can make content that's not gonna be shadow banned you got to tell me what your shadow banning so I cannot make content that's gonna be shadow band because at the end of the day I'm at their mercy of whether or not people are going to see my videos if they shadow ban a video of mine like they also did to my last video then only a few thousand of you are going to see it it's not gonna end up in your feed really maybe just the people that have the notifications turned on those are the only people that may actually see it it really sucks because you spend a lot of time making a video and then they shadow ban the video unbeknownst to you that they were gonna do that again if you're gonna shadow ban of course I'm against the Shadow Man but at least tell me what your shadow banning and you may be wondering why they shadow ban my last video can you guess it seems to be because it is a conspiracy theory in my Joe Biden video was also shadow band I actually had to delete the video and I figured out what caused it to be triggered as shadow band and when I reload it I changed some of the settings so it wouldn't be triggered as shadow band and that seemed to work on that video because the video is doing a lot better it's actually approaching a half a million views now and I appreciate all of you for rewatching the video so it had that potential to gain traction like it's gaining traction now and some may say it's a private company it's not part of the government they can shadow ban you if they want it's a private company they can do what they want no not when they have a monopoly they can't clearly the social media platform has a monopoly so therefore them shadow banning me is a violation of my First Amendment right that's all the frequently asked questions that I have for now I'll probably be doing a few more of these Q&A sessions probably every few months when a few more questions
