math test coming up if we don't study you're gonna flunk your math test school first no i hate studying and i'm tired of this you're always telling me what to do and nagging all the time nagging it's mind how'd the math test go terrible i got an f on my test and i never get f's i always get a's well when i study with mom anyway anyway who cares i didn't get good grades like how i turned up hey you want an ice cream i'm good my stomach's been hurting all day and i need some real food is there anything for dinner i could eat i'm starving i don't know you can check the refrigerator dad when are your responsibility look at this mess i will take care of it why is there a letter from our landlord saying the rent is past due don't worry about that i will figure it out what do you mean you'll figure it out you didn't pay the rent i couldn't nina because i lost my job what when were you planning on telling me this look okay it's no big deal i'll find another one when did this happen a few weeks ago you didn't think it was important enough to tell me what are we gonna do now we can't make the rent on my income alone i don't no okay i said i will figure it out i can't believe you're just gonna sit here and drink as if nothing is wrong so if you have no concern for your home or for your family can't you just leave me alone nina okay i was having a great day until you walked in i am sick of you lecturing me all the time james this has gone too far your drinking is ruining our lives you're gonna have to make a decision what is more important to you your relationship with your family or your relationship with alcohol then i will choose alcohol okay even my worst hangover doesn't give me the kind of headache that you do i'm out of here you're just gonna walk out where are should listen to her son what me dad you split up with mom when i was a kid and you don't have anyone here to tell you what to do or or not to drink doesn't look like you have any regrets dad what's wrong it's nothing it's nothing wait no dad seriously tell me what is wrong son i never told you this but not a day goes by when i don't regret that decision you see i've been drinking for as long as i can remember but at some point it became an addiction my drinking started causing a lot of problems between your mom and i i just took it as she was always lecturing me so i never listened to what she actually had to say then one day she gave me an ultimatum she told me i had to choose between my family or alcohol so i chose alcohol i walked out of the house and never came back and now not a day goes by where i don't look back and regret that decision i missed out on all of your birthdays i missed out on all of your games i missed out on all the special moments of your life simply because i wouldn't stop drinking [Laughter] dad i had no idea that's what happened i didn't know how to tell you please son don't make the same mistake that i made because your relationship with your family is more important than your relationship with alcohol oh dad i can't believe i was gonna let alcohol take that all away from me i feel so bad i gotta make this right i'm glad to make the right could try this marriage again i understand i thought you wanted to hang out and have fun with your boys yeah but they all ended up settling down and starting their own families so it's just me now
