lord we give you praise lord we worship your holy name lord we give your reverence this morning lord i thank you this morning for sparing my life i thank you lord that all of my senses are intact this morning i thank you lord god almighty for your protections i thank you for new mercies this morning lord i thank you lord for taking care of all my needs according to your riches in glory i thank you lord for bringing me in your house this morning together with your people this morning lord god to give you praise and worship because you said in your word that we are two or three are gathered concerning anything to do with you lord you are in the midst of blessing to do us good this morning we come lord god because we know that we have seen and we have come short of your glory many of us almighty god are disconnected from you lord only you and god almighty those who know that they are disconnected with you no lord jesus but this morning lord it's a privilege to be reconciled with you this morning lord god almighty because your words that if we confess our sins then you are faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness this morning lord god almighty hacks of your lord jesus that you will examine our soul this morning examine our spirit this morning lord god even the very intent of our thought this morning lord jesus i have some of you this today is a public holiday and of course many persons don't have to go to work and so i am indeed very happy that you have chosen to take the day that you have off to come and to spend it in the presence of almighty god it's an investment that will surely return dividends there are other persons watching us from elsewhere who for them today is not a public holiday but they are tuning in and we want to just thank god for you all those who are tuning in on the various platforms from where what from wherever you are tuning in we welcome you to this morning service uh at the commodore new testament church of god and i believe with all my heart that you are going to be richly blessed and those of us that are here i'm sure you're feeling the blessings already and there's much more in store where that has come from amen all we have to do is to keep focus on god and we will receive what he has in store for us praise the name of the lord amen welcome to the welcome has already been given but let me just put on a little icing on it sister welcome to everybody welcome one welcome all welcome to our student pastor who is here and is going to be sharing with us today in one segment of this day's service today is a little bit different from the other days that we you've you're becoming used to because we're going to be having four segments of prayer today and we are going to be focusing on specific areas of need we are also going to be having a presentation from our student pastor because he's going to help us to understand a little bit more about the lenten season ash wednesday easter whatever all of this means so he has done his res research and is going to help us to understand what we are doing why we are doing it and the necessity to continue doing it what benefits are there for us as believers as we enter this very sacred time of the calendar amen amen church praise the name of the lord later on you will have the opportunity and i know you have submitted your prayer request and all the various things that you would want an intervention from god there'll be a segment for that that someone else will do but i want to just say to you that i am here now because our general overseer reverend dr tim hill i sent out a circular to all new testament churches of god throughout the world wherever a church is found this instruction has been given by dr tim hill that all churches should be engaged in a session of prior each time we meet because there are some developing situations around the world right now that require the intervention of almighty god amen and i'm going to speak about it so i'm going somewhere um also our director of world missions the reverend dr griffis has also sent out an urgent appeal that all individuals recognize that we are up against forces of evil right now in the world that we need to take attention of he has said to us in a circular that in ukraine there are in excess out there in excess of 400 i mean 45 000 believers and up to somewhere in the region of 60 churches and all of these churches and all of the believers are under threat as we speak now one of the things i'd like to say to us is that whereas the ukraine and russia they are in excess of 5 000 miles away from us but i want us as believers even as we come for today's fasting service we are going to spend some time in prayer for not only our brethren that are in the ukraine but the citizens of ukraine generally who woke up a few days ago and the skies were filled with fighter jets and bombs were dropping left right and center i want us to understand and become aware that war anywhere in the world today is a threat to the existence of humanity i wonder if i can say that again because you see i i want us to be able to understand that whereas we have our own challenges in our own section of the world in our communities in our parish right in our very homes right in our very church we have challenges but let us open our minds to recognize that some of these global developments they are threatening us right where we are sitting today so somebody may say but me don't know nobody for ukraine i don't know nobody from russia all right let's talk a little bit i am helping to sensitize god's people for us to understand that when a country can seek to rage war and another sovereign country something is wrong somewhere what gives you the right to say to yourself i am going to get up from over my house and to go over to my neighbor's house and i'm going to tell my neighbor how to live how they should grow their children what they should do in their own home how they should conduct their lives and i am going to stay on my side and i am going to if you are not doing what i want to do i am going to come over here and i am going to murder everybody that's that's what that's what the ukraine and the russian situation is like me too ukraine was a part of russia but they got their independence from russia but russia is now feeling that they are a great big bad dog and so they are going to attack their former colony and they are going to recolonize them oh god something is wrong and it is wrong at the leadership level of the russian population i am not afraid to say that the actions of the russian um prime minister president at this time is is a bully action is a evil action is a wicked action and it wants to borders an insanity is a madman and we cannot support the attack on the ukrainian people by the russian people it cannot be condoned and it must not be condoned and today i as your leader i'm speaking out against it and when you think about it that the ukrainian government and military is like no match for the mighty big bulldog it's like you have a a mongrel and a pit bull i like that sister english and a liquor mongrel too and this massive pit bull is no match and when you seek to hypnotize and to cause fear and all sorts of negative things to happen to your helpless neighbor something is wrong when you can line up your troops and your tanks that that measures 40 miles i don't know if you're listening universe in a bedroom 40 miles of artillery war machines behind each other stretching for 40 miles to invade our country i want you to know that we need divine intervention to stop you and so i say all of that to help us to understand what we are going to pray about but the other part of it there are two other parts to it one last night it was said on the news that vladimir putin the president for russia he has called his generals together and they are contemplating an all-out new clear war i wonder if you understand where i'm going so it is one thing to release your fighter jets to drop bombs in your neighbor's country but then it is another thing i don't know if persons here understand what nuclear war really means nuclear war will wipe out the entire earth in no time at all because this is germ warfare we're talking about so when when the last time a nuclear bomb was dropped was in japan hiroshima right and that wiped out the entire segment of the world in that region any other nuclear war no will be a threat to every human being on planet earth and the mighty nations of this world they have they have their nuclear weapons northern south korea russia us they all have chemical weapons of mass destruction you remember what happened down in saddam hussein area there the u.s invaded because it was said that saddam had nuclear weapons that were he was going to use but can i say to you my brothers and sisters that we have a god who is still in control hallelujah and the final thing along that line i did say two things the second thing is that according to the word of god god is not going to allow mankind to self-destruct themselves and i'm going to bring to you later on in my presentation what the word of the lord says about these times amen because these times must come and when this time comes it is a clear indication that something bigger is about to happen hallelujah i wonder if anybody knows what i'm talking about i'm telling you my brothers and sisters that this is just one of the signs of the times that is indicating to us that the return of our lord and savior jesus christ is just around the corner amen so it's not time for us to be now experiencing a storm in a tea cup but rather it is time for us to look up because i tell you without authority today our redemption draweth nigh amen so don't worry ourselves with the little isms and escapes him that's the plans and the plots of the enemy but we have to look at the bigger picture hallelujah jesus is coming again and he's not too far before man destroy themselves jesus christ is going to step out on the clouds of heaven and he's going to say to his chosen people come up higher [Music] our redemption joyeth nigh people of god god is about to do what he alone can do and that is to rescue humanity from self-destruction can i ask you to stand with me please hallelujah hallelujah thank you jesus this is our first session of prayer i'm going to lead this session of prayer oh god for the infiltration or the attack on rook on ukraine the russian authorities we want our voices to be recorded in heaven because god himself opposed this kind of situation we are going to register our opposition to what is about to take place to our brothers and sisters in ukraine bow your heads with me please father [Music] we come to you in the name of jesus lord we thank you that we have this great opportunity to be able to come to you and to find you in a sacred place we can come to you lord without having to go through a high priest but because when jesus died on the cross of calvary when he gave up before he gave up the ghost he said that he broke down the middle walls of partition and so we can go boldly to the throne of grace and we can allow our requests to be made known we can speak to the boss for ourselves and when situations confront us we can cry abba further hear our cry and so this morning we summon the portals of heaven because earth is in trouble problems on planet earth fightings wars and rumors of wars are upon us hallelujah hallelujah wars and rumors of wars have overtaken us on planet earth god you see that the enemy has entered into the heart of this world leader vladimir putin a communist agnostic a god hater one who does not regard god as lord and master who does not believe that there is a supreme being somewhere who rules in the heart and their fears of mankind oh god we are dealing with a mud communist this morning we are dealing with someone who has no no spiritual reasoning ability but is being fueled by satan being fueled by lucifer god almighty and because of the infiltration of the enemy in his mind he has concocted but this morning lord we come to you on behalf of our brothers and sisters in the ukraine lord we ask of you for divine protection oh god the united nations and the nations of the world have been coming together in order to set up embargo and blockade against russia to force them to withdraw from ukraine but lord we are believing today that a time to cleanse the vessel this is a time for the vessel to cleanse let's say you have different types of vests different texture different person and we put ourself in that perspective we are all we are one body as a church and for each of us we are called for different roles and different functions we are all of our different roles and function here not because i stand to deliver a message to you today i mean this is my rule we all have our rule and function if it's so clean the church you must have a clean vessel to clean it whatever you're called to do it needs a clean vessel to do it despite the role and function in the church it calls for a clean vessel if it's even to bounce her brother and sister said bless you this morning you don't know what that greetings can bring to that person what you have done to that person but in doing so we need what a clean vessel and i say what make a honorable vessel and a dishonorable vessel what makes one honorable brother and sister we all know one that is sanctified a pure vessel are consecrated set apart from the world and we all know we can be doing the same things of the world and say yes we are a clean vessel we must be set apart as children of god to be cleansed for his vessel when we think of vessel look in your household we have this pretty china where that's what we want to be the one we're updated clean clean china where have a father that we can take them to and he has the answer he controls everything and that's why we don't have to be fretting and pining away and worrying ourselves what we need to do is to take our school father we are asking you to walk from the house to the taxi stand to the bus stand to wherever they have to walk hallelujah i pray god that you would provide godly or decent persons to dr provide the transportation to take them safely to school we pray god that having reached their destination hallelujah you will provide godly persons teachers ancillary workers people who are selling at the gate whoever hallelujah hallelujah many times oh god the things that are provided for the children at the school gate not nice they are laced with things that should not be consumed by our children but in the name of jesus christ of nazareth i'm asking you god to break up to a situation hallelujah because we want our children to go on to grow up healthy hallelujah to go in the classrooms and learn what is being taught father father god of heaven hallelujah god of heaven we have too many demonic hallelujah diabolical persons around our children evil teachers in the classroom are molesting them in one way or the other but jesus hallelujah in your name i come no lord god and i pray father that you would turn around the minds the hearts of the wicked ones of those who god williams will be coming to us to do a presentation please make him welcome [Music] bless the lord good afternoon everybody bless the lord i use this opportunity to recognize our day's moderator our pastor love the brethren and those sharing with us today through the virtual space now i will be presenting on lenten season i won't be long lent is considered to be the 40 day period between us wednesday and easter that all christians christians all over the world observe the season of lent represents the 40 days and nights that jesus spent in the wilderness fasting and praying where he was tempted by the devil the scriptural references for this are as follows saint matthew chapter 4 1 to 11 saint mark chapter 1 12 to 13 and the saint luke chapter 4 1-30 so the references are saint matthew 4 1-11 saint mark 1 12-13 and the saint luke 4 1 to 13. and i will read saint luke chapter 4 1-13 i believe luke gives us a broader explanation of jesus fast and jesus being full of the holy ghost returned from jordan and was led by the spirit into the wilderness being 40 days tempted of the devil and in those days he did eat nothing and when they were ended he afterward hungered if you should read saint matthew you would see that the scripture says jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil however that is not the idea being given in the text the idea is that while jesus was fasting he was tempted by the devil amen and the devil said unto him if thou be the son of god command this stone that it be made bread and jesus answered him saying it is written that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of god and the devil taking him up in a high mountain shall be the son of god cast thyself down hence for it is written he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee and in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time thou dash thy foot against the stone and jesus answering him said unto him it is said thou shalt not tempt the lord thy god and when the devil had ended all the temptation he departed from from him for a season amen to the word of god so based on the reading of the scripture just now it is clear that when the believer [Music] go on fast that we will be tempted and we will face various temptations now within the context of the church as it relates to lenten season this period is marked by prior fasting and reflection believers seize this moment to prepare their hearts before the celebration of the resurrection of christ against the background of his suffering and if there is no other time that we must make an extra effort to ensure that our hearts are ready for the lord it is now entrenching to various news outlets about what is taking place as i listened and reflect on what is happening it tells me that as believers we cannot get too comfortable that we find ourselves focusing on the things of the world and we do not make any time to prepare our hearts for the coming of the lord many of us thought that we will be on a smooth path going forward because kovid is going down and it seems as if everything is going to be all right and so it is important for us believers to keep focus to keep steadfast and even as we are in another ash wednesday and i will speak about this in a little while it is important as we celebrate these events on the christian calendar that we do not see them as rituals but we will see them for the purpose intended and so if we are not careful we will find ourselves becoming ritualistic in other words we only do it because it is something that is on the christian calendar but god is saying to us that we must make the most of it just as though the world today have their busy friday on a tuesday and whatever they call it we have our own situations we have our own parties that we must celebrate and rejoice and make the most of it because when sinners go to party they don't go to to to have a bad time but they go to celebrate and enjoy themselves and they make the most of it so we are challenged as we are in another us wednesday to make the most of it right praise okay so how does lent connect and not some other way with the context of the bible the jews would use the ash to mark their foreheads and this would indicate a sense of remorse for their sins hence the reason why the phrase sock cloth and ashes is used throughout scriptures it conveys this understanding so for the jews they asked what's their way of saying i'm repenting of my sins but today we do not have to mark our face with us because we have become joined here with jesus christ therefore as believers as we express remorse for our sins we must do this based on the sincerity of our heart so we indicate to god that guess what i'm sorry for these sins that i have committed i'm sorry for the life that i have lived based on the sincerity of our heart therefore as believers we must seize this moment to spend time to reflect to pray and to fast because we have various things that we have at hand currently that we should take to the lord and as i reflect on this my brothers and sisters what this says to us as it relates to us wednesdays as wednesday rather and what it meant to the jews is that as we gather here for prayer and fasting it is not about how we expressed ourselves outwardly but based on the posture of our hearts what is the posture of your heart as you enter into his presence this morning no wonder why joel says in joel chapter 2 verse 13 that as believers we must render our hearts and not our garments return to the lord your god for he is gracious and compassionate slow to anger and aborting in love and he relents from sending calamity many of us today my brothers and sisters for many of us today we find ourselves getting too comfortable with our christianity so we do not value our christian life our relationship with god so we value other things such as pursuing a career having a home raising a family and so as i close the important takeaways of lent for believers is for one to come into a closer relationship with god to pray more and and thirdly it gives us a deeper understanding as to why we praise the lord so why do we praise the lord we praise the lord today based on what jesus christ has done for every one of us and that is what we are reflecting on through this period we are reflecting on the the death the burial and the resurrection of jesus christ and the significance of it and so as i close i leave with you isaiah 53 verse 5 but he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed god bless you hallelujah thank you very much student pastor williams for that presentation hallelujah i hope that they sent me to do another zone they say they don't see anything they have been the night there until they took me out to spanish stone to do the test when i go there and do the big test over the spanish stone they took me back to spanish zone and there were was appendic america i tell you i have to give god tongues while i'm here because when i reach to go to the theta the pentagon burst there was burst and i know the doctor said god is on your side because the pentagon birth and defending never flush out it's drawn there into a leakage they have to creep out everything and i said today it is god and my god it is the blood of jesus that's why i'm here today to give him prayer and to give him glory because what i cannot walk alone i must have assumed you with me for i did not
