Exploiting a Loophole to get Mario Odyssey's World Record

so i have been taking a break for about a week right i found something very interesting that i want to show you guys we'll you'll see you'll see i i've thought about a lot how to present this and i think i'm just gonna just gonna surprise you with it okay it will be able to do it in cap kingdom and i am playing in two player okay okay so here's what happened here's what happened i was bored and i was like what can i do what can i do so as one does when they are bored i looked at the leaderboard for speedrun.com and i was like i wonder what i wonder what the rules are so i read through the rules beat the game as fast as possible timing begins when you select start rta timing is used all runs require video proof runs must be done with the switch docked or undocked and use of amiibo balloon world in assist mode is banned they didn't mention anything about mods so i have modded the game to give cappy infinite jumps and we will be trying to beat the world record in any percent which technically is following the rules so let's go now this this is so dumb but i just think it's funny it'll be fun to try it out so we're just gonna go straight to the boss really quick here save a little bit of time like that we saved about a minute there nothing too bad good start we are a little bit ahead not too much ahead just just a little bit now honestly i'm not sure like how much time this will save in later kingdoms if it saves any at all i don't even know the craziest thing about this is that even though i've literally hacked the game the world record is going to be stupid hard to beat because they are so good like the any percent runners at a top level are so much better than me it's insane i mean i'll do my best to go fast the time to beat is 57 minutes 54 seconds i believe all right we are finishing off this game and look at this we're not even saving that much time which is crazy would it be faster to try and do day metro first with this because we could technically try to do early metro i think it would save some time yeah we are a little bit more ahead now this split there's a very good chance we lose time just because i am doing an extra boss fight but that is to save time in metro kingdom and a lot of it this is malicious compliance yes wait what okay the boss does trigger that was weird the boss wasn't there okay we are losing a little bit of time that's so sad man that's so rough that we lost so much of that time it hurts deep in my core boom no big deal we're still way ahead dude will the leaderboard allow this it's not against the rules i don't think they'll allow it but it's not against the rules probably just go straight in here do this area let me up i wonder if that was faster or slower than getting an uproot hard to say do you guys know that i have never once dabbed on stream but two years ago someone said will you dab on stream and i said when i get subber in super mario odyssey because i was confident i'm never gonna get sub hour i will never get sub hour that's just not something that's going to happen but i might do sub hour today i might have to dab today for the first time ever my first ever dab it's honestly a little bit scary oh my god he doesn't even know how to dab you're right i don't okay boomer i've never done it before out it'll be my first time on stream so we should be able to go through here yes through a painting and it locks the camera i need to save so much time that honestly this first run might not even be a record we might have to do two attempts just out of curiosity when does world record leave metro i don't know exactly it leaves metro at 28 minutes it leaves metro oh my god how is it so fast i i wanted to do the first run with skipping the uh the night metro just because it's funny but i don't think the next one it would be advisable to do that now that i'm looking at it which is fine all right boom yeah we didn't save any time there okay note to self don't do that strat again okay yo snowdram easy dude easy that's speed run trick it's free it's free what can i say here's the thing if this isn't enough i can always add a speed modification mod the possibilities are endless we could just mod it so we start with all of the moons you just don't need moons to to do the odyssey start with all the paintings unlocked yo i mean that's an idea wrong warp to final bowser area yeah if worse comes to worse we could just warp to the oh i missed that we could just warp to the final area why are you playing on english oh my god we're playing on english we'll lose like 10 20 seconds for that also this is like slower than by any percent pb turns out infinite cap jumps don't actually make you that much faster at least in this kingdom that's that's embarrassing apparently playing normally for me is faster than with the infinite cap jumps yikes yikes now we still save some time we're just gonna grab i believe there should be a multi-moon vibe in up here wait there's no multimoon i could have swore there's supposed to be a multi-moon here that's weird uh well that kind of screws us and we're losing time because the moon wasn't there no we're losing more time this is how you learn it's it's a new type of run will you have to get all of the story moons in these kingdoms to be able to uh to be able to progress so you can't save any time by skipping story moons unfortunately a fake and a fraud is what you are oh absolutely yeah for sure but it's it's funny though you can't deny that it's like the closest to clickbait i've ever been but it's it's funny it's so funny oh oh god oh god i'm so bad i'm so bad okay okay i'm not gonna do even the easy strat okay you know what this is frankly quite embarrassing that i can't even destroy a simple oh god gabby come back got a no that mecca is so bad i can't even do the old my own skip exactly i mean the fight was easy it just took a minute or two sub hour no i i really doubt this will be sub our at all moon will be slow i think moon won't be too bad because we are able to do the fast moon skip yeah i think we're gonna save like 20 seconds tops now i'm looking at it actually sick that was fast what a moon skip skipping the end gauntlet of the game just with a few jumps like you guys can you can just do that in two-player mode without the without the infinite jump thing it's really cool it's super hard but it's really cool i literally hacked the game and the world record is still three or four minutes faster than this like a huge shout out to the people that actually do this run and like dedicate time to it i guess crazy finishing it off you know it is the fastest i beat the game but it did kinda suck it did suck and we will have to do it a little bit faster all right 102.05 the first run that's only a first run we'll do another run let's actually do it this time but fast i promise you by the end of the day we will beat the world record time all right second run is started this time we won't make the same mistakes well second run obviously not better than the last but we will be getting world record this is the run where we're actually going to do it three two one and go well let's do it i did those first two runs but i i completely ignored one one little thing all right now this should at least have started phase one this is only phase one well there's only two phases there's only two phases don't worry there's al there's only two phases so phase one be existing is fine and there it is phase one what's that what is that there's a pipe there that's so strange now i am gonna go grab cappy first because to beat the game you know i ideally i do have cappy now there's about a 50 50 chance the game will crash let's see the game has not yet crashed and we are at the last kingdom okay not over yet though it's not over yet we're doing it i think we're doing it okay maybe it crashes here there's still a chance that it crashes there okay that's fine that's fine do not share no big deal no big deal it crashed once that means this next attempt is guaranteed to work okay fifty percent plus fifty percent is a hundred percent we all know this it is known if you flip a coin and its heads guaranteed the next time you flip it it'll be tails just saying wait what it's not where's the pipe hold up there it is there's the pipe and that's cap kingdom done heck we'll try it again see if it works it worked let's go okay absolutely massive freaking pogs dude that's all right as long as we can get there if we can make it to the loading zone for the the castle area we're in a really good spot we just gotta we just gotta make it there before it crashes did someone discover a wrong warp uh you could say that we have a chance we do not have a chance okay all right we're doing the fi the final method that's so weird what's that what is that that is so strange what is that doing there the odyssey is not looking so great huh oh my god it's finally worked we could go oh my god [Music] we're in bowser's kingdom we can warp to the odyssey we can do it come on please be enough to let me leave nice oh go to each kingdom well that's just in any percent run sorry that's just a traditional 80 run okay we're gonna try this we're gonna go to sand and see what happens fill up and leave immediately perhaps yes let's go okay we'll go to sand kingdom actually it does look like all of the kingdoms are unlocked did you see that what happens if we go to the odyssey now yeah yeah blah blah blah whatever cappy it's working it's working these strats though do we go straight to metro from here no we got a cloud hey you got a little off track there buddy huh oh god you gonna make me do this wait but oh no i think we're soft locked here i think we just got trapped in cloud kingdom because it doesn't think we fought the boss yet so we can't leave but we can't do oh no wait i have an idea i have a very good idea oh my god okay and it should work this game is programmed in a way that makes it very difficult to skip a kingdom but we will we will just skip the kingdom that's all i'm gonna say okay the luncheon painting is here we're gonna go through this painting we are going to go to luncheon kingdom and we're gonna go over here and the painting does exist okay and we are into mushroom kingdom now check this out the odyssey is here and we're gonna use the odyssey uh that's not right i guess we haven't unlocked moon kingdom yet huh what are we doing now we're doing one final test if this doesn't work then nothing will this is this is like the final final attempt if i can't get this to work that's it this is the last chance the game might crash a few times keep that in mind but if we can make it into the chapel i believe we can beat the game but there should be a pipe and the odyssey directly in front of us when we start here there's the pipe there's the odyssey we have combined them really pushing odyssey to its limits with this one kind of yeah i should have infinite cap jumps which is good now we're going in here this will take a while to load and it may crash going in that's totally fine like i said that will probably happen and now that it's reloaded it should be fine it just doesn't like that we walked over there this is more promising yep that's good this is very good the odyssey is here we will make a save this is very promising it's okay if we can get on to the odyssey it might let us do something because the odyssey is there we can enter the odyssey that's a loading zone because i think this might be like a fake moon kingdom but we can trick the game into sending us to a real one okay we're in it hasn't crashed yet frick it seems like there's almost a timer wait it did save it's it auto saved here we actually we didn't even go through the pipe wait a minute it auto saved in moon kingdom and not cap it usually crashes when we hit this bridge no way this might be it please don't crash when we go in here this might be the actual one we had to combine them oh my god don't crash don't crash yes it didn't crash let's go no crashes yet okay please don't crash yes we're gonna get it oh my god i did not expect that to work i did not expect that to work i wanted to stay positive though okay this is the last loading zone i think after this yes okay we're gonna do it we're gonna freaking do it we're on our way to finishing this in like 10 minutes dude super mario odyssey beating faster than ever before in under 10 minutes and i technically followed the rules 9 minutes 24 seconds and god i gotta do it if i get sub one hour would i dab yes that's the only dab you'll ever get i mean okay let's look at the leaderboards i guess first place currently at 57 minutes 54 seconds let's view the rules use of a amiibo balloon world assist modes band one player only beat them as fast as possible it's following the rules game rules it never said i couldn't do it it's dumb that's kind of a new world record thanks for watching Yeah, this is some bullshit. The rules also don't explicitly specify that you have to be playing Super Mario Odyssey to get a time on the SMO leaderboards - maybe smallant should investigate that 'loophole' next...
