building an enshrouded is insane hey everyone my name is Smitty and today I'm going to be showing off my most creative and shrouded build yet this is a project that I recently created for the architects of Wonder build competition and although I didn't win this project has revolutionized how I view building an in shrouded video will just be a Showcase of the build however you'd like to explore this project on your own the world file will be available for download on the Smitty survival patreon page as always a big thank you to these amazing patrons who continue to support the content and channel hope you all enjoy and without further Ado grab a snack grab a drink let's get right into it all right everyone so we are back in in shr today and I'm going to be showing my build submission for The Architects of Wonder Build contest that recently finished if you're tracking the competition you'll know that it was incredibly competitive contest overall I was able to make the top 25 cut with this build but fortunately missed on the top 13 prize pool is some builds were just insane and honestly super well-deserving of the top 13 spots all right so getting into the build here so at first I wasn't sure if I really wanted to enter into the contest you know I there wasn't a ton of time to build and you know there's just a lot of pressure entering into something like that I didn't know if I want to put myself in that situation but I'm really glad I did I think the added pressure just really forced myself to think creatively and the result was really cool so I'm just going to enter into a free cam mode here to get a better look at this [Music] project as we can see there's quite a bit of scale to this scene that I have built out and my goal here was to really come up with something that was quite original and creative so I wanted to actually paint a scene here that was you know really Dynamic and communicated a lot of motion like I mentioned I only had about 4 days to build this and I knew I was competing with some projects that had been built for multiple months so I had to think of something that was again really original and um something that would allow me to keep compete on on that level so came up with this scene where uh you know there was this dragon or a shroud demon was coming from this this cave in the back and smashing through this Garrison that was standing watch so aside from being an organic build right so this is a creature not just a structure I really wanted to do something that communicated a lot of motion so it's almost kind of like a diarama of the destruction as it smashes through this bridge here at the top so I thought that was really cool and kind of a unique unique take on building but I think the effects really worked well you know motion is something that's really hard to communicate particularly with static objects but if you can do it right I think it can can really enhance a build getting into the details here so if we get into the creature itself so I actually built this creature with sandstone and sand for the body itself so I found that the the Sandstone actually created this super cool texture that really looked almost scaly when I put it together and it works super well for kind of dragon or or demon skin so really happy with how that turned out it was really hard getting the modeling right so it's a bit of a unique skill so I've done a lot of more architectural pieces which obviously the tower more follows but this was really an exercise in 3D modeling and it was definitely a new skill to flex and it challenged me a lot but result was really cool and it just opens up so many more opportunities I think in this game and what you can do with it and so the 3D modeling is really only made possible because the terrain tools have this kind of Blended mechanic where it's not super sharp with how it uh is stacked against each other so you can create more organic forms like this Dragon so it is a full Dragon we have all the legs and the tail and it goes all the way back the cave here so and quite a large creature but really happy with how it turned out the one of my favorite parts of this is actually the chain that is tied around its neck so I have a bit of a collar here that's built out with the stone and I wanted to build this chain to kind of communicate the story that maybe this demon had been locked away in this cave and is just now broken free so what I really did was I built a line of stone in this kind of shape that's looping and then carved out painstakingly each chain link to uh to fit that form so this was a super big pain in my butt but I think that the way it just communicates that motion just looks really cool then I also had the nice idea of using some of the banners to look like some lances that have maybe been Stak into the back as the The Garrison has try to defend and prevent the creature from coming out so just some nice little details that that I really like and have a bit of a chain here on the arm to perhaps this was also broken so for the horns here uh you guys might be thinking you know what exactly this material is so this is the fertile Farm soil so I decided to use this just cuz it was a little more distinct from the Sandstone for the rest of the body and it actually worked really well you know I think when you're building in a big enough scale uh you can actually create some pretty compelling forms and so these are kind of like a Taurus some Taurus horns uh and I think they work really nicely so for the eyes which I think worked out really well what these are is actually the Luminous blocks and then I just kind of clipped a pot right here you're uh really close in and it kind of creates that that slitted eye look for a lot of salamanders or dragons things like that and really pops out nicely I think there's a lot of really good contrast between the blue and the red of the skin and then that pupil really nicely pops out so then if we get down here into the nose we see that we carved out some nostrils and then I put in some brazers just to give it a little bit of a flame effect CU I wanted this to be like a flame demon or Dragon we get down to the mouth so I did carve in some teeth with stone which look a little bit rough but I honestly kind of like the way it looks uh it looks just a little bit more menacing and then I again flipped in some razors torches in the back of the throat just to make it look like maybe it breathe some fire or something like that so as you can see I scattered a lot of different elements around here to really communicate the motion of this creature smashing through the bridge we go up here you'll see that what this is is a lot of different debris that really has been scattered so how I did this was since there is no structural mechanic or structural Integrity mechanic to in shrouded pieces I would just create a bunch of floating bricks and then I would break them down with my pickaxe because then I would get a rubble texture and I think that just looked a little more accurate for the bridge that was being smashed it also meant that these shapes weren't as grided and perpendicular when they're in that kind of voxal grid uh when they're in the rubble form so I think that made it a little more compelling as you can see I also have some like buckets and barrels and boxes scattered uh and you can see that they're a little bit tilted off its axes that's because I didn't want everything straight up because that would kind of break the illusion and so how I did this was I found that if you place some terrain pieces floating the air that some of these uh um you know boxes and barrels that will actually slightly change its axes based on the angle of the terrain that it's on so I'd place in these barrels and boxes to have a little bit of a different angle and then remove the train after and it gave that little angled floating effect which worked super nicely and I have the same thing over here and just adding that effect of motion then down below I wanted to continue that idea with really creating a Dynam DC scene about this Rubble smashing into the ground and just displacing a lot of dirt underneath so created more Rubble just use the Farm soil pieces to kind of scatter and make it look like there's really an impact going here uh I think just looks really cool again it's kind of like a diarama but it really does look like this Rubble is smashing into the ground and really creating this kind of impact in a really Dynamic scene that's really a that's an element I think I really enjoy that honestly one be that honestly might be one of my favorite parts of this build all right so let's go back into the running mode and we'll run all across the side here so I did build some of this into the mountain here some of the Garrison try again create some more Dynamic scenes here so again as the rubble smashes into the side of this wall I wanted it to look like it was really breaking through and creating a lot of Destruction here so and some tables and chairs being displaced a lot of rubble coming through some fire it kind of wraps around kind of see the dragon coming through from this balcony and then as we work our way over here this is where we get to the smashed Bridge so pretty pretty cool that we can come up here and actually climb on top of the monster the funny thing about this is that there's so much sand and Sandstone that I used to build this is that when I jump on it sometimes get the effect that we're like in the desert so you can see it starts to kind of come in here get a little bit of that Haze so kind of funny how we we were able to confuse the game like that as you can see we have our banners again that Dynamic chain that flows through the back cool and then I love how the dynamic pose of this also brings the arm all the way up to our Garrison Tower here so monsters reaching up smashing through and then this claw going up here on the wall so the tower isn't anything super crazy uh I definitely put most of my time focus on the creature but there are some just some general furnishings and decorations like a Garrison and I only had 4 days to build this so didn't quite get as much done in the tower as I would have liked but definitely gives us a nice view of the Creature if we go to the top here so if we go to the top here again we get a good nice Vantage Point seen it smashing through um just to see all the destruction so again would have liked to have worked more on the tower but just didn't quite have enough time I think this is ultimately why uh my build probably didn't score quite as high getting to the top 13 but totally understandable and you live and you learn and uh will be better next time and over here is just kind of the the bridge that crosses over get into the tower so again not the biggest build but certainly I think one of the more creative builds that I've done I think that the elements of motion destruction and kind of having this diarama looked really cool and then working and testing out building Organics in this game I think this is the first time I've really tried building things other than structures and the result was really cool and it opens up so much more opportunities for different things things and different stories to tell uh in this game with building so that was a lot of fun the competition was super fun obviously bummed I didn't get top 13 but honestly there's three rules into entering a build competition is that's build hard expect nothing and never estimate the creativity on the internet and that's obviously the case in this competition there are some insane builds you should all go check out some of the builds that were submitted because there is so much inspiration that got pushed around as a result of this competition hopefully you guys enjoyed this build maybe got some ideas for some projects of your own if you did please make sure you like And subscribe and I will catch you in the next one [Music] thanks [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
