Embracing her natural hair texture brought her confidence back!

[Music] you know I don't feel pretty right now alright so today is episode 6 of mono makeovers I'm so happy you guys have been enjoying watching them as much as I enjoyed creating them we have season down below in the info box so today is the 6th episode like I said and we only have one more episode after this number 7 that will be 2 parts long so get ready for that we an amazing girl ready for that episode to get her makeover done but let's get on with the show let's watch Michaela submission video and Fuu she's all about let's do it look about her [Music] okay first of all I do a lot of natural hair behind the scenes okay for all of you people who think that I never do natural hair and I am so ready I'm thinking we make her hair throw lighter or a lot a bit lighter bring out that natural hair I don't want her hair straight she works the curly natural hair it is gorgeous is fabulous she is fabulous and I cannot wait to meet her a little blonde by maybe a little like maybe brown Roux blondes bring out her curls a little bit more I don't know we'll see I gotta feel her personality first and feel what she's all about all right I cannot wait to head to the studio and meet Michaela let's do it my name is Michaela I go to school in Towson University in Baltimore Maryland and my major is metropolitan studies I like to act and I do theater a lot modeling and singing and being in plays and stuff that's kind of what I like to do a lot less when I spend my time doing it's really important for young girls to like what they look like I really struggle with that when I was young and I really just want girls to like not think that way because there's nothing wrong with your natural hair and that's who you are like I have a little sister Lee and I remember she was talking about how she wanted straight hair and I remembered how that's how I was like I didn't really like my hair out because I felt like it was nappy or it wasn't as pretty as straight hair so I had a perm and my hair was breaking off in the back so I decided to go natural and I cut my hair like really short so that it could go about gala and as just as my heart was healthier that way love yourself the way you are because when I was young I always wanted my hair straight because everyone here was straight and I thought that was the definition of pretty but you really don't have to do that like ever since I went natural like I do I do feel more like myself I would just say I embrace who you are I've had the same style forever in the same color for like almost a year so I'm ready i watch your video because your personality is like I like my hair like no girl yeah Mikayla talked to me a little bit about her hair journey and how she has not relaxed it since she was very very very young and I was like girl never never relax it again because you do not want to ruin these beautiful curls they are oh just too fine just divine but she's got a lot of curls it's gonna take me a long time to do how long did you get here four hours do you drive I woke up at 3:00 and I had to take the bus I thought that was bad and I'm here I was like one of those sons like almost like not up yeah I'm so such an early bird tonight I'm so are you ready for this I'm excited I'm ready I'm so ready to just finesse this hair like it's gonna be everything [Music] tell me what's going on with us gorgeous curls but tell you like about the color the color I got a dyed like right before Christmas and it was red it was like burgundy but at the light it was bright red what do you like about your hair right now I like that it's light yeah but I don't like the route that the roots are not lighting more so I like the list I mean it's kind of shuck it up now but it's kind of yeah yeah yeah I was gonna say I really do like the length a lot I don't think we're gonna do much in that area I'm not gonna tell you too much of what we're actually gonna do but see what happens that's all I was nervous about I shave your head everything's gone no that's not gonna happen but I don't want to tell you anymore so do you trust me yeah it's press okay let's turn you around let's face our friends over here and let's get started on this so clearly Michaela has natural hair and I really do love working on natural hair it is definitely a little more complicated obviously because there's a lot of texture and a lot a lot of hair Michaela's hair is so it's dense and thick I can hardly write my hand through it but the more hair the more fun right I mean the [Music] don't care yeah do any siblings I have two younger brothers and a younger sister a lot of people I feel it's not too bad that were spread apart kind of my sister's five and my five yeah Wow well she just turned six actually my sisters say oh my god I mean it's cool like she's always around me so it was hard when I went to college right like yesterday my mom texted me and she said that my sister was in her room singing I have no one to play with it were you like the next oldest I am the oldest okay how's that I have two other brothers I know if that's what I think being the oldest is good I have a lot of freedom but you're also like the one wants to break the rules and like yeah it should be younger said wings can break I don't have to have a hard time with breaking rules after here yeah oh it's Charlie there with me it's exactly how did you find my videos I really like America's Next Top Model so I was looking up the makeovers and I saw your reaction and I think that's what started it like should I watch every single reaction then I finished on reaction videos had to watch the rest that's so fun to me like people every day said that I think they've been trying videos like five hours oh my gosh that's literally what I did that's all I got this video i sat there with it on my TV for like hours all day that is so funny that take another thing am I like people watching me on the TV it makes me so anxious I've also had like tweet at me like pictures of them in care school like watching in there it's like projector boils and I'm like please take me off that fridge and my pores are showing oh I was not having to face better and better - I'm like we stop [Music] so the color is pretty much all done it is looking divine like a snake a nice snack and of course you guys know what's neg I don't need to tell you anymore the makeup artist is coming so what'd you do to her face we shall see alright guys so I just finished Michaela's color you can see it a little bit right now but we're gonna style it or I'm gonna style it not we but we're gonna I'm gonna style it and we're gonna do a little bit of like a twirly set number going on right here and then we're gonna let it out it's gonna be gorgeous and fabulous and beautiful but before that we have Nicole here from glam squad take it away what do you want to hear me okay so I was thinking since she's going back to school or starting school yeah something fresh but still a little pop for her so we're gonna do something gold and shimmery on the lids with a little bit of a good crease and some winged out liner and her skin is gorgeous so we're not going to go too heavy with it keep it still soft and natural with a little bit more about pretty close that's not good yeah alright she's alright got perfect skin this way [Applause] [Music] Kayla we're gonna turn you around now I know you've been dying to this all day she's the tribe he called a I'm Michaela loved her new color and I do too she's looking glowy fat natural texture is coming out with those new highlights I added in the bangs the bangs had me living my best life I mean I don't know I feel like it really just frames her face and just brings out the best features we do a sun-kissed highlight moment a little bit you know not too late like right crazy but we brought up to the road we're never gonna have a little kind of regrowth you have yeah and then like the ends a bit like what keep me the makeup down you have to be playing off with the brightness in the hair do a lot of like bright gold shimmer in the eyes it was a lot of glow all over and like a bright red lip cuz you're fierce right now gorgeous filled the makeup like in the best way possible I know there's so many girls out there who have natural hair who do not know how to embrace it I think that young african-american girls can really look up to Mikayla and just see that she is embracing her natural texture and really just looks stunning in it I think that if you feel comfortable enough to do it of course I would totally recommend embracing your natural texture and wearing that curly hair right there yeah hey like depends on the lighting obviously but like I for this and I especially the bang I feel like it really rounds out everything you know what I mean and like is this more shape oh you're so cute [Music] let's have the Killa call her best friend on FaceTime the CEO she likes al she's as
