bright colored hair bands in my hair to peanut butter to lacing it with birdseed nothing seems to work how confounding i started covering my head with a head scarf but then i just looked too much like the virgin mary that reminded me too much of christmas and i dislike christmas do you dislike christmas too did you also make a questionable last-minute decision to cut your hair with toenail clippers then do what i did let your bird chew on your hair and ruin it give yourself any weird haircut you'd like and then when it looks bad fix the problem with inh hair extensions that's right this is a didn't even have to send them a lock of my hair like some old-timey victorian and a free scrunchie oh and this is the pony i've always wanted a pony i just didn't picture it happening quite like this and sent back and then they sent me this waiver these extensions better really work we'll start by sectioning off the hair right off the bat i must say i'm very impressed with the fact that one package actually is enough believe it or not i've bought extensions before where i ordered it and then had to buy now for the moment of truth can it cover up the mistake i made it's like it never happened you imagined it all i didn't cut my hair in this video now let's try the wafer oh my gosh it came with a glove these are heat proof i could touch an exhaust pipe on a motorcycle if i wanted to sometimes if you want to it tells you as it's heating up what temperature it's at you don't have to look at it and wonder when's it going to be heated up i know it's pretty soon it's safe to use hot tools on these extensions because they are made of 100 human hair which also means they are so soft you'll want to sleep with them in like a really appropriate platonic sort of way oh my gosh is though that might have been wise but just with a lot of thrifting i decided to give myself a two day head start on making the stuff so that i wouldn't spend every day of my week just making what i had to wear the next day today we're going to haphazardly make a queen elizabeth costume using only thrifted materials and things we find around the house i'd have to say this character is a big reason why i chose to go with margot robbie the number one biggest reason being an excuse to buy gogo boots on me go on as with any period piece garments it's best to make the undergarments first and due to a desire to not be wasteful because like i'm a really good person we're going to use the fabric that was the curtains in my rv a little warning for those of you who've been traumatized by historical inaccuracies in the past i did not make this very accurately i just did the bare minimum to give me the shape that i needed to look correct in the outer garment i also didn't make it accurately to my own size because i was trusting the half-truth mantra that you don't make stays to fit yourself you make stays that are strong enough to force your body to conform to their will oh you're supposed to explain things this this was just made out of three panels each three layers thick deep dip thick of fabric i doodled several lines on each panel and traced over them with my sewing machine in which to insert zip ties these should fit and slide in as perfectly as a rat through the mouth of a pumpkin sorry that was in my snapchat memories and i just had to throw them due to ill preparedness i ran out of big zip ties so i had to use smaller ones in the back then i sewed the front and back together and finally tried the dang thing on now i did not measure myself at all while making this and i haven't tried it on at all but i have a very good eye for what is my size i intrinsically just know and i pretty much always get it right [Music] i don't get it doesn't this look like my size this was probably my size when i was 18. that was back when i was 18 people used to tell me i looked like margot robbie a lot and then they just kind of stopped now people just told me i look like rachel mcadams and shakira makira my kiramaki in lieu of further alterations i decided instead to go on something of a diet and consume less air so that my lungs would fit this days after cutting out straps i marked out holes for the eyelets each a fun size snickers with the part then i shanked it with this thing that i literally found on the ground then further stretched out the holes with a pencil it was during this project that i found out my son garion has a profoundly disturbing fascination with needles after whipping the top down i applied the straps to the back and the back only leaving the front ends open but perforated ugh i feel so smart when i say perfect after applying the metal eyelets i decided to embroider over them so that i could trick people into thinking it was historically accurately made which even though like half a million of you will have seen that it wasn't i love oil lamps so it's been like three days of sporadically working on this a little bit and i have one part of one costume that won't even be seen and like yeah i wasted like two hours putting embroidery floss around every single eyelet but now it looks more historically accurate so when i wear the costume over this if someone asks i can tell them that there's embroidery floss around the eyelids if someone asks but i really need to kick my butt into gear today because halloween is in a couple days and my best friend courtney and i are planning on matching we're both going to be queen elizabeth you know the age-old stereotype that girls are just like mortified at showing up at a party in the same outfit i never understood that maybe because maybe i'm not really a girl some people really believe i've seen the theories hey gare we're not gonna be noisy okay i don't think you understood what i just said anyway i deem every outfit is so much more valuable if someone else is wearing the exact same outfit it's like reassurance that you made the right decision and courtney and i have been decently obsessed with twinning from a very young age we're gonna save this fabric and probably make a mask out of it then i folded and pinned down the fabric wait you have no idea what i'm working on it's this outfit from once upon a time in hollywood anyway i made a channel for the elastic and then i threaded the elastic through making it all bunchy on the bottom then i made my matching mask look i know no one's excited about wearing a mask but i'm kind of thankful for the mandate because it saved me five thousand dollars that i was gonna spend on invisalign this year remember that time i talked about how i needed to get a queen elizabeth dressed on as soon as possible i love oil lamps and remember how i literally started working on something else while i said that who is in charge of me whose responsibility am i i need to fire my boss i'm gonna call my boss hello hey i was wondering if i could just hey you need to stop calling here okay okay yeah i love you too bye now we really need to work on that queen elizabeth dress but wait this skirt needs shortening fun fact this morning i woke up and all my wallpaper had just fallen off my wall now we're only going to use fabrics that we already have so let's rummage around the house and see what we find oh i'm busy i really should stop i don't like this this cloak that was originally curtains this skirt from my snow white dress that was originally a tablecloth and this pillowcase that we're going to mutilate for the trim an array of tassels if you're using your snow white skirt which you probably are and making the top out of an old cloak that doesn't quite match i recommend cutting off the bottom of the cloak and then pinning and sewing it to the bottom of your skirt to sort of tie the two colors in together now when drafting the bodice you're going to want to go as quickly carelessly and thoughtlessly as possible preparing yourself for a long night of troublesome alterations the headache this brings will teach you the valuable lesson that you shouldn't rush through these things in the future it doesn't do anything for me so now you just take what you just cut out and slap it really hard next cut out a slight upside down j starting at the armpit and that j stands for jonas brothers in case you were wondering trim away some fabric at the top and bottom of that j and then sew the pieces back together as per usual trace the front to make the back sew the front and back together and if you are a lightweight who can't handle the cold begin drafting your sleeves with a flannel material that will be the lining of your sleeves i'm sorry but like the all the costumes i see online are always for girls anyways they're they show so much skin and it's like you realize what october is right like you realize it's a not july then i gathered the sleeve till it fit perfectly in my armhole and then you have negative one second to guess who this is a costume of it's sharon tate from once upon a time in hollywood good good try guys now watch what i come downstairs to every morning come here hi good morning baby bye every morning that's the main plus of sleeping in the house on the agenda today we are going to have to finish my queen elizabeth's dress get some fabric to make a tonya harding dress drop off some pants i altered for somebody and hopefully get some pictures outside of a movie theater i'm pretty happy with today's look i feel like i look more like sharon tate than margot robbie more like sharon tate than i do like margot robbie not like more like character than margot robbie did though i do kind of feel like i look more like sharon tate than margot robbie did so in every sense of the stop let's cut out a strip of the hem of your cloak to make a call and nestle that collar cozily in your neckline and stab it repeatedly with the sewing machine now even though we already made stays we're going to add more boning to the bodice because though the term flattened the curve was coined in 2020 it was really the ideal beauty standard in the elizabethan era also it'll prevent puckering between the hook and eye closures now cut out a strip of fabric that would perfectly cover a can of pop or soda if you're from one of those strange not ohio states pin it right sides together along the bottom of your sleeve pleat the sleeve till it fits perfectly within your cuff and i realized i'd forgotten to include those sawn off tentacles at the bottom of the waist so i faked some with little folds of fabric then it was time to let one rip one being a pillowcase adding the trim was a relaxing endeavor in fact if the action were a song it would sound something like this [Music] after shortening and hot gluing on the tassels i took a little drive to the movie theater with my dad and jj i had some things i wanted to say to the camera but couldn't seem to break through their interesting conversation tells you something about moving my hives interesting individual bees aren't that interesting now we're going to the movie theater because this is she this was when she wore this outfit she went to the movie then i did exactly what margot robbie did in much of the movie once upon a time in hollywood i uh just kind of tried to look pretty for the camera and didn't do much then i tried to recreate this picture and look how spot-on i got it just kidding uh this this is actually me we're gonna go to julian fabrics and your mask [Music] how's your day at work been so far i've been okay so far then i resumed progress on my elizabethan rough which i was constructing out of two wire edged ribbons that i got at goodwill and i used the word resumed because i did start the rough a few days prior before giving up on the endeavor due to some unfortunate event that you will see soon to make a rough adequately neck length you're going to want about 9 yards of ribbon then bend and stack it and golden retriever paw sized zigzags once you've zigged every zag hold the entire stack tightly like so and then take a knee so that's when i gave up hope on the rough but i did resume the process a few days later in my sharon tate costume take a needle and a length of thread just a bit longer than the circumference of your neck and run it through the top of the inside edge of every zigzag then repeat the same step along the bottom use the little branches that come off the trunk of your hand aka fingers to round up all the edges by the way i was doing this at courtney and jj's parents house because they have a fireplace that i find very inspiring in fact the whole atmosphere is inspiring from the way they show their father affection to the word inspire right there then i went back to my house where at least i had gary in and sewed my rough to the color of my shirt then i applied hook and eye closures to the front of the bodice and you'll notice i'm wearing a hat in this shot and that's because garion was eating my hair but the hat was annoying because it gave him too much traction to hang in front of my face oh look next day hi baby oh oh oh oh that was a rough landing the goal for today is to look as traditionally unattractive as possible no your little bird heart cannot handle caffeine no because i spent so much time on that corset that's not even going to be seen i decided i'm gonna do a little high fashion photo shoot thing and just the corset and some pants try to make it like a modern vintage so you know just you know what i want i look like an absolute nerd dingy house crappy outfit let's see if we can make it look both bizarrely enough it kind of worked right before getting dressed i looked in a picture and realized her wrists had ruffs too so i had to make some little roughs they were very cute and i thought about making one for garion but then i realized he'd look too much like the villain from rio too not that i hate that character he actually sang my favorite rap i've ever heard you know the one that's like i'm a survivor i got the eye of the tag i'll be training the game and eating my fiber you'd be staying a level i'd be staying alive watch where you sit when i spit my saliva like ooh you know like what i'm talking about my nephew went through a phase of watching it a lot okay it's not that i personally look it up every moment i get on youtube and work out to it and maybe plan on dancing to it on my wedding day now it's time to make the hair red the best part of this process was that after i used that white makeup i threw it in the trash immediately thinking i'll never use that again and then the next day was dressing up as harley quinn and had to take it out of the trash unfortunately the stays did not close all the way in the front like they were supposed to but that's all right i guess i didn't have to be absolutely perfectly accurate for a game of cards with some friends and now for the most important accessory of all mary queen of scots now i need to find a good tutor-looking place to get pictures this is a pretty busy area but every area i can think of is [Music] how are you doing today good oh story time so i was feeling real good about this outfit thinking i looked cute so i posted a selfie to my story and my brother responded asking if i was supposed to be pennywise so i failed i'm about to go meet up with courtney i cannot wait to see her rendition of the queen elizabeth costume see how similar we look [Music] i feel like something got lost in translation well that was a pleasant little evening now to wash this out it worked but this water will not drain and my dad's gonna be up in a few hours for work well it is spooky season here's how you can make a harley quinn outfit for under 10 and just in two hours get a pair of red pants comes up to the window and tells me the reason i pulled you over is the light over your license plate is out i'm gonna need your license and registration so i hand him my license then as i'm handing him my registration he just backs up he says never mind box back calls over another cop from like across the street or something that cops shining his flashlight into my windows and the first cop starts asking me questions like so where are you coming from where are you headed he's asking them in a way like that's highly sus and for the older crowd that means like suspiciously and just as i'm thinking what is this guy's deal he says the words so what's this guy's deal i had no idea what he was referring to until it clicked he was talking about this guy and i said oh that's a mannequin and he goes and i said yeah a mannequin and he calls the other cop off and says it's a mannequin and he looks me and says why do you have a mannequin in your car and i said so my car doesn't get broken into and then he's like oh well that's actually a pretty good idea and the mood was lightened and he went back and ran my license and when he came back again that i recorded when i came over i was like i seems like oh they have a mask and then i was like they have no legs my heart rate like went from here up here real quick so not gonna lie i am going to go back and tell everybody what are you supposed to be i'm a racer dude and so harley quinn the racer dude and my dad's fingertip had a jolly time at chipotle then we headed back to courtney's parents house to plan our weddings don't worry neither of us are getting married this is just a tradition that we've had since we were little kids that we sit by the fireplace at her mom's house and plan our futures i know i think it's weird too we just gotta do it we can't be the only ones who have done this i mean i'm not the only one whose 16 year old self drew her future family and literally planned on having one sad child and the husband who wore kilts right it's just kind of a fun little activity we tied ourselves to as kids and i'm glad we did because it's fun to look back and see how things have changed like the princess diaries thing these are my two different expectations for where i would be at this point in my life here's reality i can't do this ask why why i'm too gloomy because of the time change happening tonight i hate global global daylight savings time i could rant for eternity what's the point anyone there's no point to daylight savings time it's just to keep us unhappy the government likes us to be a certain level of depressed so that we'll keep drinking fluoride moral of the story the time change is stupid time change trying to find my best angle i think it's this one oh sheep you did sanitize on trial for murder one day and she's like um it was my first murder thank you very much that's besides the point okay then i pulled a newborn baby on that shindig and decided to head out get it and begin my tanya harding costume for which i traced my greatest showman costume then i cut a deep v out of the front and saved the fabric from that v then i traced it onto a not see-through but flesh-colored fabric then i wedged that wedge on in there and it fit perfectly as if it were a slice of pizza in a big pizza so elastic into the leg holes if you want to keep them from riding up cut out a sleeve as long as a baseball bat and about as wide as two but if you hate sports don't fret too much about the size this is elastic and it is very forgiving i must have been so focused here because i did not notice him coming in and kissing me on the forehead now so the sides and the arms closed next we'll begin cutting out those little teardrops that are coming from her hips though they won't be tear drops when i wear them because i am makira and my hips don't cry that was so bad so i was super excited thinking wow this is such a breeze i'm doing so well and i realized i don't know how i'm gonna get this on because i have to fit my hips through here i don't know how that actually works now i know from past experience if i glue something directly to myself the fabric will not protect my stomach it will bleed through and burn me so that stinks there it is i keep thinking about learning my lesson but then the lyrics to that song come to mind you know the our scars make us beautiful okay i just looked up the lyrics that's actually not what it says it kind of seems like it should be a harley quinn outfit i'm an ice skater to do the back i'm putting it on backwards this dress took a grand total of about three hours to make including the decorating process which i did much of in my second sharon tate costume yes i dressed up as sharon tate again i know i'm real creative now to make your holiday barbie dress i mean sharon tate shorts you're going to want to chew off the bottom half of the leg holes a slather of peanut butter might make them go down more easily but if you don't have teeth worry not scissors work just as well we don't even have this many chickens who's double egging main thing that i have to do today is go right now to pick up my rv at the shop grandpa jj is going to accompany me i still haven't eaten breakfast though don't have time to cook something i don't know if that's really healthy but rocky does it so it has to be i mean look at the guy look look at how he used to look don't look at him now i have to get back into the house because i didn't realize gary was on my shoulder and so the little banana woman hopped in her portable trash can and drove it to the mechanic where she picked up her larger portable trash can it's just funny like going into places like that they're like are you the owner of the rv i'm just not i'm not what anybody expects for anything she then fastened antlers to the front for rv so that passes by would get the vibe of a big old burly hunting man lives here so don't even think about breaking in so i just got a call that my friends are going to a state park in 30 minutes i have to come up with a costume in 30 minutes i was like nature jane from tarzan that was kind of margo robbie right so i threw together this and now i got to figure something out with hair we're going to go in a little bit of a diagonal just to give it more of a kooky natural look you know this is why i'm not a beauty influencer then i tucked those luscious crinkle cut fries into a braid and sprayed it with this root spray that i used to use when i had red hair wow this hair waiver really did save the day they just got margot robbie to sponsor them pretty good under the deal on that one i've officially put together the worst costume i've ever put together he's so heavy then i said to my buddies hey if we're going on a long drive we should take my rv because i'm a wimp now and i cannot handle long drives without a full-size bed at least upon reaching our destination we were pleased to find some porta-potties it's okay they're brothers then as we hiked i racked my brain asking the question what's something that jane would do i'd rather be tarzan than jane then i began a quest to behave as tarzan fierce protector of my friends and of the jungle and my apes whom i communicate with i wasn't the only protector among us jj checked the ground to make sure it wouldn't cave and steven checked for wildlife seem pretty safe so far steven's checking for bears while on our nature request we passed a couple of famous sites these may not be the woods where any of the tarzan films were made but these are the famous words where the original 1929 version of hunger games was filmed you'll recognize this as the area that rue back then known as rudabega perished then we toured the famous tower where the 2011 animated hit tangled was filmed from there we got an excellent view of all the giant broccolis below are you scared of heights me um then we scampered back to the ground got a couple fire pics and went on our merry way the next day i was getting ready on the road in my rv so i had to use a costume that i already had yes technically i was harley quinn again but at least this costume was from a different movie okay i know i look a little rough but just remember how well i did it last time okay today's a special circumstance i'm trapped in an rv i went into the goodwill looking for a pink dress in order to make a naomi costume from the movie wolf of wall street so we all got some pretty cute stuff and we all piled back into my land bow and went to another part then my friend veronica started taking pictures with a christmas tree she got a good will and i didn't fully understand why they're not youtubers or anything this is just me is this just for your personal memories okay this lady rode her bike by us and said beautiful outfit and i said thanks and at the same time she said thanks it's too hot i can't make it back you can't stay here i can't i'm going to build a shelter out of these sticks no yeah come on in this is um i'll see you tomorrow bye okay i love you then in the middle of the night i floated back to my own house in my own bed and woke up as tanya harding [Music] of course this outfit requires bangs i don't have to make a permanent look altering decision just for one outfit so i was looking for my ice skates which are gold because i painted them to do the greatest roman costume and then i came across these that i don't even know why i have and i don't remember getting them but hashtag hoarder perks not gonna lie when i planned this whole thing i was like november things are gonna be frozen by then i can just ice skate on a lake it's like 75 degrees our local ice skating rink is closed to the public but i did some snooping online and saw that they have hockey practices scheduled so obviously the ice is there so i'm going to call and see what i can do confidence is key hi i'm a seamstress and i made an outfit that i wanted to model on the ice there's nothing on the ice from 1 30 until 4 today if you come to the front entrance those doors up here are open i just feel like i'm not myself if i don't cut my bangs for a look [Music] these shoes are great they just cut right through the chicken poop thank you girls i don't know where to put all these so on the agenda today i am meeting up with courtney and veronica for coffee then i have my ice skating appointment at two then i have to get to work on this dress this outfit was definitely the weirdest one to wear in public mainly because of the length of the skirt but when i tried to put pants on before leaving the house there was a sign that it wasn't meant to be i just tried to put pants on without taking my shoes off and this is what happened so i decided instead to put on some confidence and because of that no one really noticed anything out of the ordinary i feel like i live in a very understanding open-minded city you know there were some smiles and waves but i feel like nobody really questions what i'm wearing here at the ice skating rink no idea how this is gonna go but i'm just gonna sound like i'm supposed to be here there's nobody here i'm wondering if i'm just supposed to go in it's been so long i don't know if i remember how to ice skate i better learn quick though because i'm gonna have to do a triple axel now for the moment you've all been waiting for here comes tanya harding for the chance to win a trip to germany great power great speed and great athletic ability taking her time really feeling the music i really see a big growth wonderful stretched legs now the question is whether she will become the first american to attempt and complete a triple axel jump [Music] good girl oh isn't that great the first time an didn't buy this house but it's for sale and i want it and i'm now in the driveway and there's no way out now i gotta get new tights when i went to the thrift store to do so nobody really had anything to say about my outfit but on the drive home i passed a friend of mine and while i couldn't hear what she was saying she seemed to be emphatically complimenting me and then alas i had one last garment to finish i sliced off the top of this long sleeve dress to make it shoulder then fold it under pinned and sewed a little tunnel all along the neckline and then choo choo i sent the elastic train right through then i sewed elastic along the side seams to give it a ruched effect i don't know if her dress has that i haven't actually seen the movie i've been told it's not fit for my precious little eyes but i do know the wolf of wall street is the role that got margot robbie famous so i knew i had to add it to my lineup also she has long hair in that and i wanted to wear my extensions again so now today all i have to do is film an outro done video's over sorry it was so long if you'd like to justify the 30ish minutes you spent watching this video by saying you learned something well what did we learn today kids nothing but if there's something i'd like you to take away from this video it's this don't take yourself too seriously if you struggle with embarrassment wondering what other people think about you it helps to purposefully put yourself in at least one embarrassing situation a week and eventually you'll become desensitized to the sensation it also helps to be raised homeschooled and completely unaware of social normatives but i know not everybody has that luxury let me know if there are any other actresses you'd like to see me rip off but don't say rachel
