CAN I BEAT A POKÉMON X HARDCORE NUZLOCKE WITH ONLY GROUND TYPES!? (Pokémon Challenge)

welcome everyone my name is self and this is my attempt to beat a hardcore nuzlocke of pokemon x with only ground type pokemon the full rule set for this run is listed down below but put simply only the first ground type encounter in each route or area can be caught if a pokemon faints it must be permanently boxed no items except held items in battle party pokemon levels are limited to the next gym leader or the final league members ace and finally the battle mode must be put on set at all times now this is gonna be interesting out of all the pokemon games in the main series pokemon x and y are the ones that i haven't played in the longest amount of time i honestly don't think i've touched them since like 2015 so i'm excited to give them another go one thing i do know is that they're great for pokemon selection as in pokemon x we have all of these fully evolved ground types available because we do play with no legendaries allowed zygarde is our only limitation aside from nuzlocke video and without any further ado let's head to the world of kalos and get this challenge underway ah nothing like sleeping in peacefully on a beautiful sunday morning [Applause] what the hell man can i get an ounce of rest in this house or what in typical pokemon fashion our mother can't wait to get us out of the house so fine i'm leaving and i won't be back alright who the hell are you and why are you at my doorstep hello do you have time to talk about our lord are you not interested apparently we have a team meeting in aquacord town and i know i haven't played this game in a while but just try to tell me that this isn't the most forgettable group of characters in the franchise i mean really who are you people it's time to choose our starters and i'll be honest i'm not super thrilled with gen 6's starter choices but i'm gonna go with what i think is my favorite froakie who i nicknamed canelo since he's gonna get boxed oh oh that's a big boy oh i thought i was gonna die up ahead on route 2 serena shows us how to catch a pokemon and hey that's the pokemon that i need after she catches it shauna goes nuts and says wow the pokemon went inside the pokeball oh boy this is going to be a long one isn't it with that we get some pokeballs meaning our adventure has officially begun here we can try and emulate serena as best as we can by finding ourselves a benelby our first encounter which evolves into a ground type and is the only option that we have to start with i nicknamed it aldrin and aldrin ends up having a hearty nature which is neutral and the pickup ability definitely not as good as huge power but should be useful for picking up some good items throughout i spend some time grinding against this roots pokemon since they mostly give speedy v's and we actually got crit on her very first battle surely that's not a bad omen for this run right if there's one thing i'll give these games is that the region is aesthetically quite beautiful especially for an early 3ds game up ahead we reached santalune forest and i completely forgot about this part of the game with all our friends just frantically running around absolute chaos shauna also promised that she'd heal our pokemon but then near the end of the forest we had a ridiculously close battle because it turns out she lied and we got paralyzed and brought to low health by a pikachu and i thought it was over but thank god it just used growl a couple times and we made it through paralysis twice in a row on 7 hp what the hell is wrong with you route 3 brings about our second viable encounter of burme which in its sand cloak form is a ground type we just have to find a cave to change his form these are the only two remotely ground type pokemon available before the first gym so we're just gonna roll with it for the sake of making this run possible in the first place i catch burme on our very last ball and nicknamed mccade who has a calm plus special defense and minus attack nature which isn't great now we run into a huge problem here as burme only learns protect until level 10 so switch training is necessary and it is a brutal grind we then arrive in santalune town and it's time to box mr canelo thanks for the nothing that you did old friend the santalune gym is upon us a bug type gym and if i'm honest i'm quite terrified about it the trainers themselves are manageable enough with aldrin and we eventually get cade to level 10 where he learns tackle after beating the trainers it's time for the very first gym leader viola her team is looking scary for us as we only have one bunnelby and burme after all but i theorycrafted for a long time for this battle and only one strategy seemed remotely possible it was during this theorycrafting i realized why no one's done this run before regardless let's try it she leads with a sur skit and i send out aldrin as weird as it might look i immediately switch into cade i brought aldrin right up to high level 12 so that if kate is able to take this out both of them will actually get xp and level up keep in mind hardcore nuzlocke rules allow you to level up mid battle you just have to enter the battle at or below the level cap my goal here is just to duke it out using tackle i mean what choice do we have we strategically bring it into the red and viola uses the potion exactly what i was aiming for as i can't allow her to use one on vivalon and i knew tackle would chip it within range this process was even closer than i thought though as kate survived on just three hp but is able to do the job in comes the big threat vivalon and no matter how i worked it out i knew i absolutely had to let kade go here switching into aldrin would just not make sense as it would be free damage for her and it's not like cade could be sent in again rest in peace little guy in comes aldrin who is now level 13 and i'm hoping to god this will work the main thing is we have to hope and pray she doesn't use infestation early as that does incremental damage each turn on top of her attacks i will need more damage output though so i go for leer but she used harden huh tackle the 6 hp damage and i went for lear again as i know we need the lowered defense another tackle and another lure on the next turn and then i start using priority quick attack the only way we can out speed which does about a third we get brought below half though then bring her below half she brings us to just 8 hp and then a final quick attack out prioritizes and takes her down i think the only way we lost that is if she used infestation on the first turn otherwise we might have survived just on a sliver let's go viola's sister gives us the xp share upon exiting the town and up ahead on the beautiful route 4 we can also find the poison bar which i have a feeling is going to be very useful on this challenge just before the next city we're given the return tm which will give 102 power at max friendship and that could be amazing for aldrin later on as a stab move we quickly arrive in the massive lumio city and as many iconic landmarks as it does have i think the power outage memes kind of overshadow them all in sycamore's lab we my dude you gotta fix your posture my man looks like the letter c now normally professors are all nice to us in pokemon games but this guy decides to throw the three canto starters at us in battle when i wasn't prepared and i thought we had lost after being brought to just four hp on the second pokemon but incredibly his charmander just went for a smoke screen then growl and then we could use priority quick attack to take him down on the third turn way too close for comfort in one of the cafes the barista says this is a cafe where shy people who love to communicate with others gather uh aha looks like it if the wall qualifies as others so which do you like best long or short i uh what oh if you're like a cheerful son everyone will be grateful if you're like the pokemon soul rock well some things are better left unsaid hey what the do you have against soul rock being sick of these lumios people we make our way to camp for your town and one of the girls in the houses gives us the thief tm always useful for getting type boosting items okay no seriously what is with the dialogue in these games up ahead on route 6 is an opportunity to pick up our next account oh off shauna oh well at least her detour finally allows us to get some berries would have been real useful earlier back on route 6 our next encounter arrives and in kata which we catch and nickname zur zur has a hearty nature which is neutral and unfortunately it loses its ground typing upon evolution so we can't evolve it at least it's a pokemon the majestic parfum palace is upon us where we can grab the cut hm and after doing so something occurs to me i head back to lumios and in one of the pokemon centers the clerk actually sells tms here we can get bulldoze incredible since the entire diggersby line learns its earliest physical ground type move at level 33 and also swords dance to power up our attack after barely beating tierno and trevor in battle we have our first evolution as aldrin evolves into diggersby no he has the digger's bee though diggersby though if i'm honest without the huge power ability diggersby is pretty bad as a fully evolved pokemon but hey we're working with what we got after picking up the rock smash tm from ambretown and the rocky helmet from the route 9 gate i realize there's something really cool that we can do we can go through the aquarium to the lower part of route 8 where the rock smash rocks have a chance to give us the soft sand item to boost ground moves so i spent a while smashing the rocks to get a few of them since they're obviously the perfect item for our team at this point the game opens up enough for us to finally get some new encounters on route 9 while riding rhyhorn we encounter none other than a sand dial which has intimidate i mean moxie is great too so we really couldn't have gone wrong catching this thing does cut off everyone's favorite hippopotamus as an encounter but crookedile is amazing too i catch it and nickname him zavala and he has a naughty nature meaning plus attack and minus special defense which isn't bad in the glittering cave itself we get another encounter opportunity this time finding a cubone who i nicknamed mara and who has a quiet nature plus special attack and minus speed which is almost as bad as it gets a long journey brings us to silos city the location of the second gym this gym is a rock type gym so i'm feeling pretty good about her odds although my rock climbing experience is admittedly subpar zavala does amazing in here being able to intimidate opposing pokemon and even counters pokemon like soul rock and luna's home with dark type moves since they have levitate before the gym leader i give her pokemon some oranberries and soft sand items and also teach bulldoze and home claws to pretty much everyone who can learn them the second gym leader is grant and his amora could be pretty scary with aurora bean and refrigerate takedown which becomes ice type but i decide to lead with aldrin i immediately use bulldoze which brings it all the way to the red and he went for rock tomb of all things perhaps thinking he could lower our speed and then hit us hard but bulldoze also lowered his speed so after he potions we can still out speed and take him down too good his tyron then comes out and hisses with bite but no flinch so bulldoze brings him below half and lowers his speed so we can out speed him on the next turn amazing stuff bulldoze is actually pretty good early game it seems route 10 offers us a new encounter and a very cool one in my opinion golett who gives us ghost coverage i catch one and nickname it gaul and gaul has a calm nature plus special defense and minus attack but that's not the worst that it gets it also has the klutz ability which is actively bad for us as it means held items have no effect on them we could have gotten the incredible iron fist instead but it wasn't meant to be geocentre town brings us another soft sand item better than rock smashing forever i guess and oh thank this lady gives us an ever stone usually they're useless yes but ninkana has been trying to evolve every damn level so she single-handedly saved my sanity upon trying to leave corinna battles us with two lucario and don't forget fighting is super effective against two of our pokemon here but mara does an amazing job with bone meringue taking out both of them despite power-up punches thanks to her orenberry route 11 gives us the rock polish tm to raise speed which should be great for later and here we can also find a new encounter but there are two options and they're kind of hard to find but eventually i find a horde of both of them and one ends up being shiny a nidoran male we've gotten shiny's before in our runs but i never ever thought we'd get a shiny pokemon in our hardcore nuzlockes as a viable encounter since it has to be the first one that we find and well technically all of these ties the first encounters so i think we'll allow it nidoking is also one of my all-time favorite shinies so i'm really hyped about this thankfully i wasn't an idiot and caught it successfully and nicknamed it traveler traveler ends up having a naughty nature plus attack and minus special defense which is solid along with rivalry as an ability to boost moves used against fellow male pokemon up ahead in the gorgeous reflection cave we had a ridiculously close encounter against a lie noon that used foresight against golit meaning its stab normal moves started being able to hit us and i had locked us into rollout thinking we were fine but we managed on just three hp sheesh in this cave we also had some ridiculous team upgrades as mara ended up evolving into a marowak a pokemon i don't really ever get to use so i'm excited about that one traveler ended up evolving into a shiny nidorino and finally zavala ended up evolving into a croc rock too reflection cave also had a moonstone in it which well let's go am i right in no time we arrive in shallower city where the next gym is but first i hit up the pokemon center where the clerk has both the dig and poison jab tms two huge scores for us this also means i no longer have to wait to get level up moves to evolve travelers so here we go wow such an unbelievable shiny pokemon to get i am ecstatic the tower of mastery brings us a rival battle with serena and she leads with a meow stick as i send in gaul thankfully she used light screen and not reflect so a couple of shadow punches do the job with us only getting hit once in comes absol which is a terrifying threat for goal but i switch it to zavala who not only resists but gets the intimidate off and bulldoze hits before she just uses quick attack to bring us below half and another finishes it off her final pokemon is quilled in and traveler is a perfect switch here taking him down in one poison bar boosted rivalry boosted stab poison jab for the win unreal up next is the shallower city gym a fighting type gym which is a bit nerve-racking with our two weaknesses especially on our only intimidate pokemon but gall with his ghost typing and maro with her great defense do an amazing job taking care of the trainers although that's not to say that we didn't have some close calls the third gym leader is karina and before the battle i realized uh her machoke is the only pokemon she has who can hit gaul at all and with the resisted move at that so her mien fu was a free ko then her machoke did cause a little bit of trouble with rock tomb lowering our speed but bulldoze could counteract that a bit and she did use a super potion too but ultimately were only brought to about three quarters her final pokemon is halucha again with no way to touch us so it's another free ko after a series of shadow punches that's what i like to see we also get the power up punch tm for winning which is a great move atop the tower of mastery karina gives us the mega ring and uh yeah thanks corinna gonna be real useful this is one of the few games that also force you to break the rules as she forces you to battle her with a lucario and then gives it to you as a gift so after having broken the rules run over now that we can use surf we can access route 12 where we can find one of the best items in the game the leftovers we also get to tour the skidow ranch which i must say is pretty cute go goat is one of the most underrated pokemon of all time in every way i mean look at its stats oh my god you can ride them kumaran city is up next which is basically just an item bonanza as we can get the silk scarf to power up normal moves the black sludge which is like a leftovers for poison types and the metronome to boost the power of moves used consecutively the kumerine gym is a grass-type gym which on the face of it is terrifying for ground types but we have a secret weapon unfortunately leading into this gym that secret weapon was too overleveled to fight the trainers but we had one saving grace zur with the evia light item attached that we recently got you wouldn't think it but zur absolutely saved the day as we might have had a run ended without him as he's the only one on our team that's not weak to grass aside from our secret weapon after climbing to the peak of the tree we find the hermit himself gym leader ramos and now we can unleash the beast traveler himself with stab poison bar boosted rivalry boosted poison jab his jump love does out speed and hits us hard with acrobatics but one attack decimates him in comes go goat next who suffers the exact same fate despite his bulk and his final pokemon is weepinbell and i decided to try out dig here just as an insult to injury that poor old man never saw the blue needle king coming did he our travels next bring us to route 13 in the lumios badlands where we have a chance for a new encounter but there are three possible pokemon that we can get our first encounter ends up being a trap inch awesome this is gonna cut off gibbel and doug trio as encounters but even though garchomp is technically a better pokemon flygon is my favorite of the three so i'm happy i name her ickera and she has a quiet plus special attack and minus speed nature probably the worst possible but hey it's better than a damn ninkata who i'm going to replace on our team for now a long journey through the power plant has us defeat team flair who weren't too much of a challenge and icare leveled up enough to evolve into a vibrava one of the best non-fully evolved designs of all time in my opinion back in lumios the power outages have now ended and in one of the pokemon centers i found something i completely forgot about this lady who actually makes a reference to blue who she says traveled to kalos at some point i love call backs and continuity i really do now that the power's back on we can kill the environment with the massive lumios tower which doubles as the next gem this is an electric type gym so i'm feeling pretty confident we'll manage this one the gym leader is clement the weird i don't even know what to call him and he leads with an immoga which is a flying type so our ground advantage isn't going to help us here so i lead with icara not only did i attach the rocky helmet so it hurts him when he uses aerial ace but i also taught her the rock slide tm so after he hyper potions and hits us again down to a quarter a third rock slide finishes him off in comes magneton next and i decided to play it safe and switch into aldrin who gets hit with mirror shot upon switch in which also lowers our accuracy we then miss our next attack and uses electric terrain but then he misses so we hit him with stab soft sand boosted four times super effective bulldoze and his sturdy ability allows him to survive before then hitting us again and lowering our accuracy it's too risky to stay in in case we miss now so i switch into traveler i hit him with double kick just to break his sturdy we then get hit to just above half and then dig takes him down his final pokemon is heliolisk which does have grass knot so traveler was a good choice and he ended up going for quick attack so dig is an immediate one he ko from there for our fifth batch now up ahead i went right to le vere trail where serena challenges us to battle and i realized i forgot to heal uh oh i kind of panicked and ikera got hit by a priority fake out and it was a crit but we survived on just 10 hp dear lord a switch into zavala gets him hit below half and then crunches a one hit ko after she just used light screen in comes chestnut next a massive threat for our entire team but our best bet is to switch into traveler and bite hits us to just 32 hp we need to one hit ko him here with super effective poison bar boosted rivalry stab poison jab but he somehow survives in the red gets poisoned but just hits us with bite again so we survive on 9 hp and he goes down to poison oh man absolutely up next and i switch in zavala for the intimidate bite brings it slow but thanks to intimidate i can safely switch in mara for the bone marang ko that was way too close for comfort route 14 is not just pretty with its fall aesthetic but also offers us a new encounter chance a quagsire which i catch a nickname banshee banshee has a naughty nature plus attack and minus special defense which isn't too bad water coverage would be nice but i'm gonna stick with our current team lineup for now some things are best left unknown the truth is best left to the grave goodness gracious my dude who hurt you at the end of the route i'm getting progressively more and more creeped out so i just grabbed the toxic tm from this girl before reaching la vera city the gym here is the pokemon franchise's first ever fairy type gym and in the process of defeating the trainer zavala evolves into a beastly crocodile a pokemon i've never really used before in game while battling one of the trainers who had a slurpluff mara was tanking drankiss really well with her high defense and we needed one more attack to take her out so i was like even a crit wouldn't kill us so and then she used energy ball out of nowhere what one how does that thing even have that and two why the hell didn't you use that earlier mara goes down well banshee welcome to the team i guess that one hurt it's time for the sixth gym leader valerie who i must admit has a pretty cool design thankfully she leaves with a steel type ma while and it doesn't have intimidate so traveler is able to one hit ko it with dig in comes mr mime which is a big threat with psychic but i'm feeling pretty good about poison jab and that feeling was not unfounded as we slam it to death sylveon is her final pokemon and poison jab also immediately pulverizes it quite unfortunate type matchups here for her but i'm very glad we had a poison type here as her team could have been troublesome otherwise after some shenanigans in the massive kalos pokeball factory we get to ride around through the snowy roots on a mammoth wine which is pretty much the canadian dream we next arrive in anastar city definitely one of the more serene places in the region and also known as arcisa's giant wedding ring after healing up i head back to the frost cavern which has an amazing new encounter for us a piloswine i catch one and nickname her petra before i can even check her nature it turns out gall wants all the attention and levels up from the capture learns the earthquake and evolves into golurk alright gaul i see you you magnificent beast petra ends up having a docile neutral nature and i decide to take her for the next gym replacing aldrin since well the power differential is huge conveniently enough the move reminder is located nearby in dendamiltown which is an amazing thing because she can teach petra a crucial move ancient power no not because it's good in battle but because instead it allows piloswine to evolve into mammoth wine if it's leveled up while knowing it yet another monster added to the team and can't complain about the ice coverage too ah yeah we got a fresh new fit too what's up baby whoa kids you talking about kids already nah nah nah way too fast just before the gym in anastar serena challenges us to a surprise battle and there's a big problem she has a vaporeon now zavala takes care of meow stick with crunch after being hit by shadow ball and in comes vaporeon in the hail this is where banshee is an absolute lifesaver as without him we could have very well lost the run right here two aurora beams in a row combined with the hail are brutal but our leftovers do help and earthquake then brings her below half thanks to hail thankfully we survive another aurora beam which is 12 hp left earthquake just barely doesn't ko on a sliver but then the hail takes her down and just barely doesn't take us down on 3 hp holy in comes yet another threat though chestnut her team is terrifying i switch into traveler and she crits us with brick break but it is resisted and after hail poison jab thankfully ko's and absol is then handed by zavala after swords dance and just hit us with attack the anastar gym is upon us and honestly i forgot how damn cool it was with this whole space theme while taking on the trainers ikara finally evolves into a flygon one of my favorite pokemon ever the seventh gym leader is olympia a psychic trainer she leads with a sigoleth and i send in zavala we out speed and crunches an instant one hit ko slow king then comes out next and actually gets one hike out as well despite its good defenses her final pokemon is meowstic and it merely uses fake out and then calm mine before crunch also ko's it zavala you are wicked back in lumios we have to take on team flair's secret cafe basement hideout and lysandre challenges us to battle at the start his team steadily gets tougher from here but i just wanted to point out our amazing rocky helmet strats with ikera which took out his mienfoo gyronos then locked itself into outrage against banshee and got a crit on his first one but yan was a lifesaver from there then i switched into zavala for the intimidate and then into traveler who i fortunately taught thunderbolts who are only way of doing substantial damage on gyarados pyroar was then handled by dig from there and murkrow was also a one-hit ko with thunderbolt throughout the lab we also picked up the black glasses which should be great to boost crocodile's dark type moves against the grunson here zavala was incredible since a lot of them have dark and fire type pokemon so power-up punch could increase our attack and prepare sweeps like crazy the ultimate weapon is eventually activated and god as much as i give this game credit for looking great for its system these houses being flipped over like this oh man that shit's meme worthy after another battle with lysander that went pretty much the same way the first one did except for the ice fang from mammoth wine taking out haunch crow the tree of life then well comes alive with a wild animation and it turns out to be none other than the legendary pokemon xerneas i fought tooth and nail to take this damn thing down and after successfully doing so i found out oh you're forced to catch it gotcha whoops what the hell is that lysander's final battle is here and he has become significantly more powerful since even three minutes ago the speed tier was close here so i instead leave with traveler this time and high jump kick is resisted so poison jab then eviscerates him pyroar comes out next and actually misses fire blast which could have hurt so dig koz wait hold on a minute how are all these pokemons standing on lava poncho then comes out next and thunderbolt just barely doesn't kill him in the red and then he crits us with a night slash ouch that's not good but i'm forced to kill him with another in comes his final pokemon gyarados except this time he has a trick up his sleeve the gyro sight mega stone mega gyarados is a massive threat so i switch in zavala for the immediate intimidate aquatail then still does huge damage after the intimidate so i happen to switch into banshee because he has mold breaker his water boosts still do damage on us and we get brought below half with two aqua tails before landing a yawn i can't stay in now so i switch into icara the only other pokemon we have that's not weak to water but he goes for outrage out of nowhere but we survive in the red oh man i now switch into petra and he wakes up on the switch to land outrage at least it was an aqua tale another brings us low and then i hit an earthquake but it only brings him into the red with almost our entire team at low health i have no other choice i send in zavala for another intimidate and we just barely survive outrage on just 8 hp and then can out speed and slam him with a crunch for the win that was a crazy battle ahead on route 18 we can actually grab a new encounter a graveler which cuts off sand slash as a possibility and which i wanted to weaken with poison jab but bam first turn it self destructs goodness well forget that plan on the bridge we have to face like all 10 rivals of ours in battle and they were actually quite challenging battles but were starting to have enough type coverage to manage them effectively zavala's intimidate and power up punch were fantastic against shauna quixote allowed us to survive a rampaging crawdon to tiernos and trevor's pokemon were mostly handled by travelers amazing type coverage for winning we get the waterfall tm which allows us access to snowball city the location of the final gym this gym is an ice type one which on paper is super dangerous for our team and not only did the puzzle frustrate the hell out of me but i also thought that banshee would be our savior here but a lot of the trainer's pokemon had freeze dry which is super effective on water types so i instead used gaul whose bulk could tank their ice moves while powering up our attack with super effective power up punch before the gym leader i headed back to another star city pokemon center to pick up the flamethrower tm which i taught to traveler it's time for the eighth and final gym leader wolfrick he leads with an obama snow whose typing makes it super effective against everything on our team but thankfully traveler could annihilate it with four times super effective flamethrower in comes cryogenol next which would outspeed us so i switch into banshees since this one doesn't have freeze dry thankfully it hits us with confused ray and then slams us with an ice beam before we hit ourselves and get hit by the hail i can't switch anything into two ice beams so i need to land a yawn on this thing and amazingly we survive ice beam on just 22 hp snap out of confusion and land one with the hail bringing us to just 10 hp before leftovers here i send in petra our only option and she actually tanks icebeam a bit better than expected so then i can switch into gaul as it falls asleep here i go for power a punch for the attack raise and two of them take it out with our attack now supercharged his final pokemon is avalog a defensive beast who tanks power a punch easily even after the boost and uses curse to raise his attack and defense even further another brings him to half and then he hits us hard with gyroball and gets a crit yikes here i switch in zavala for the intimidate and then he uses avalanche for over half still i switch in petra here hoping to bait him into using gyroball instead of avalanche for another switch after petra survives on 61hp and i send in traveler but the plan doesn't work and he hits us with avalanche down to just 41 hp but then a flamethrower can take him down as his special attack is pretty low oh that was a close one but we got our eighth and final badge after making our way through the treacherous victory row which was much longer than i remembered oh and we actually caught a grappler now and nicknamed it anastasia not that it matters much at this point we arrive at the final test the pokemon league after getting all of our evs fulfilled getting any remaining items and tms we need like earthquake from this crazy maze route for nidoking and flygon and getting the expert bell 2 it's time for our greatest challenge yet the first elite 4 member is malva the fire type specialist she leads with a pie roar which hits us with noble roar to lower our attack and special attack right off the bat and then earthquake fails to ko because of it even with the expert belt after she uses two full restores we get hit by flamethrower before finally koi'ing it in comes torquel next and i decide to stay in despite our lowered attack and earthquake does over half but then she slams us with earthquake to just 11 hp before we can take it out closer than i was expecting to be honest it comes talonflame next so i switch into zavala for the intimidate and then after taking about half damage we can hit a four times super effective rock slide to ko her final pokemon is a chandelure and zavala is the perfect counter against both of its typings as we nail it with crunch getting burned in the process but that doesn't matter too much unless we're planning to attack malva herself that is up next we've got the steel type elite four member wickstrom initially i was like this will be easy we have the type advantage but his team does look a bit scary he leaves with a klefki and i send out gall this time he goes for spikes and i decide to take the opportunity to use rock polish to raise our speed he goes for it again so i can start powering up our attack with power up punch then after getting hit for a little damage we can earthquake it to death now i was really hoping he'd send in age slash next but he ended up going for scizor which does have night slash so after all that i think it's safer to send in traveler traveler gets hit to half and then i hit it with four times super effective flamethrower to take it out up next is probopass and this thing has sturdy and earth power so it would be very dangerous to stay in here so i try to predict it by switching into icara and it works as levitate makes us immune wartime super effective earthquake then brings him to sturdy flash cannon does about a third and then he four restores twice so three more earthquakes take him out in comes his final pokemon aegis slash so i switch into zavala for the intimidate and he just went for king shield earthquake then gets a crit to take him down which i'll take but we didn't really need it at -1 he could have only done maximum 54 damage to us with sacred sword but zavala gets style points that's for sure next up is drazna the dragon trainer and she sends out dragology first as i leave with petra who instantly kills it with super effective stab earthquake in comes neuver next who uses flamethrower and gets a crit but we survive on just 25 hp before icefang demolishes him that was close drutagon comes out next and we're too low so i switch into gaul to predict the revenge and he went for it amazing earthquake then does over half on him but he uses dragon tail and it sends petra back out would be fine except he has rough skins so that would take us out i'm forced to switch into gall again and the prediction works again and now we can just take him out with another earthquake her final pokemon is altaria and i decided to just hit it with shadow punch and it misses sing so i hit it again and she misses again so a final attack finishes the battle not bad at all the last elite 4 member is seabold cybold z bold [Music] the water trainer obviously a very scary type for us to face his team looks terrifying for us but i come up with our best plan he leads with klawitzer and i leave with gaul for a particular reason we out speed and hit with earthquake to a quarter and then it hits us with water pulse and thankfully no confusion so another takes him down that might have been absolutely necessary in comes starmie next so i switch into banshee to predict the surf which does work he hits us with psychic for a third and then earthquake does over half another psychic brings us low and then a second earthquake takes him down in comes the biggest threat gyarados we're low health but i have no choice and he goes for dragon dance that's kinda good but also kinda scary as we hit a yawn here i have no choice so i switch into petra to tank whatever he uses and he went for earthquake which does about half now that he's asleep i can switch in zavala for the intimidate but then he wakes up and uses dragon dance again oh no rock slide then does two thirds but there's no way i can stay in i have to hope he's gonna go for waterfall as i switch in banshee and he did so we get some recovery oh holy he goes for dragon dance again and i'm starting to realize this would be an easy sweep for him from here but we land a yawn thankfully he dragon dances again and i hit him with waterfall but it only brings him to the red as he falls asleep now here i figured he was gonna go for a full restore and it was a bit of a gamble but he did so i predicted it with another yawn from here banshee can hardly do any damage on him so i wait for him to fall asleep while using waterfall then switch into traveler to go for the thunderbolt one hit ko but he wakes up and slams us with like a plus three super effective earthquake to immediately take him down ouch that was one of the most painful and unnecessary losses of all time not to mention now what i have to try the same strategy again as this gyros only grows in power and thankfully in the end petra is able to do the job with ancient power followed by an ice fang since he actually stayed asleep this time from there his last pokemon is barbarical which is an immediate ko with earthquake that was a brutal loss of a shiny but it's time to make sure that the sacrifice was worth it the champion of the kalos region is none other than diantha who actually has a bit of a mixed bag team she leads with the halucha a pretty big threat for us if it wasn't for gaul as the only thing she can hit us with is excessor or poison jab so a few shadow punches do the job in comes aurora's next which is a big threat with ice moves but i know we can out speed so i stay in and go for 4 times super effective power up punch but then she uses reflect which isn't great for us but another power-up punch does the job it comes gorgeous next and then immediately goes for phantom force so we miss then it hits us down to just 47 hp before shadow punch brings her to a quarter i'm forced to switch and our best choice here is zavala although a seed bomb would be dangerous but the intimidate puts us in safe range she just went for shadow sneak though so crunch ko's her in comes goodra next and i figure she'll go for focus blast so i switch in icra and she did and missed nice we're then able to one hit kor with dragon claw in comes a massive beastly tyrantrum next and it seems our best option is just to smash it with dragon claw but it doesn't ko just barely in the red then smashes us with dragon claw to a quarter thankfully she just used a couple of full restores though so another two attacks take her down in comes her final pokemon gardevoir which not only has the fairy type but also has a guard of warrite mega stone so she transforms it into a mega gardevoir i decided to just play it safe and stay in with the crunch to get damage off as nothing on our team could take two consecutive attacks from hers then moonblast annihilates ikara a brave sacrifice is now i can switch into petra who gets hit to a third by moon blast then earthquake finishes her off and wins us the championship damn that was a ton of fun we had such a wild variety of pokemon that performed really well a few tough losses for sure but ultimately we emerged victorious and beat a pokemon x hardcore nuzlocke with only ground types oh and then we destroyed az in the post game with a deluxe super massive golurk v golurk battle of the century i hope you had fun with the run and if you did don't forget to hit that
