well hey there idiots welcome back to observe in today's video we're going to be looking at a case that was made famous across the globe thanks to the release of the netflix documentary making a murderer it's the stephen avery case [Music] so in this next interview the night of the incident which should be the most raw meaning that it should be the most accurate non-verbally if we see different displays than we saw here it is a red flag i will say this i have not watched this interview i wanted to be able to go into this segment of the read with as little bias as i possibly could i wanted to be able to do my research understand everything that i could establish a baseline and then look at this interview for the first time with you right now i have never seen this before so my first question to you is how did you know theresa well teresa used to come over here all the time take pictures by vehicles and to put them in the book already right off the bat we see that nod coming in he nods to hopefully get the person to agree with him you can actually test this yourself if you have an opinion or statement and you say it to somebody and you nod afterwards they are more likely to agree with that statement than if you didn't nod so that's why i'm saying that he is potentially manipulating people with that specific nonverbal cluster how long had have you known her i've been using a book for a year little over a year maybe somewhere in there and when she came out here with y'all business what was your personality like same thing every time no hi how you doing mostly that and say about five minutes and out she goes again okay so how did you first hear that she disappeared i don't know if i believed this segment completely he is using a lot of head shaking in there while describing a relationship also interspersed with his please agree with me nod that he does and seeing this my interpretation of this would be is that he's not being totally forthright with his handling of her being there that being said it doesn't seem to stick out to me that he's completely lying in this situation chances are there are some details here and there of his behavior towards her that might not be as clean-cut as he's stating them but it isn't incriminating yet let's keep watching so how did you first hear that she disappeared when the cops came up by the house by my mom and dad then they asked me if she was out here and then was yeah then they asked me what time um around 2 2 30. so he's still saying that she was out here he's nodding he is shrugging in areas where he's not totally certain and you can hear it reflect that vocally as well where he's saying she was out here about 2 2 30 and he's doing a lot of insecurity gestures with his shoulders if you see that happening both partial and full gestures that is usually an indicator of a person's inability to hold weight to their own words aka they're uncertain of what they're saying so in this situation he is reflecting very very synchronized body language so far he hasn't been asked any incriminating questions and so far all of his body language seems to be pretty synchronized throughout except for that little discrepancy that we covered earlier you know that's what she mostly comes out you know 2 30. sometimes it was one time was three o'clock and then when she left which direction was she going i mean did she seem fine did she seem agitated same thing normal so he says same thing normal he's shrugging the entire time which could be seen as i don't know it's the same thing normal and that could all be related the shrugging and the head shake could be related to the i don't know it was the same thing normal or it could quite literally be and could have some evidence towards being misalignment it could be desynchronized he could be saying oh it's the same thing it was normal and quite literally with his body language would be saying it was not the same thing and it was not normal regardless i've taken note of this as he said this and i'm keeping track of that because that is a possible point of desynchronization and it's an important question as well this is the first place that large desynchronization has popped up well then she went out to the road and you know she goes to lrb i don't know where she goes you know after that because the field's all open you know you can see so a lot of you knows this is a verbal thing but as soon as you get a lot of these likes and you knows and kind ofs and ums and these common patterns of verbal processing that means that he's less certain in his words in this instance so he's becoming less and less certain around this part this is just a red flag this is not completely incriminating yet however as a nonverbal analyst looking at this i would absolutely continue pushing down this avenue of asking questions because he seems to be falling apart lightly so which direction was she going towards larabee did she mention any other appointments that day or anything like that no i don't think so because most time she takes a picture and then she wrench down the sewer number and she comes and collects the money and that's about it all of that was synchronized no i don't think so she takes a picture and he's gesturing with his head into the areas that she would be at this is all synchronized this is true normally she would do these things and no she didn't mention needing to go anywhere else this all seems to be authentic there's no red flags for me to believe that it could be otherwise so in this instance i think that he's genuinely telling the truth but this is helping reaffirm this concept of non-verbal misalignment on that earlier stage about was this the same as all of the rest of them and this is simply helping me flesh out a full non-verbal character sketch as to who steven avery is so what kinds of questions were police asking you this when she was out here with time around that's about it you see a little bit of action in his eyes during this specifically with his lower eyelid coming up and this squint has actually been shown by researchers that it can be genuine recollection and it also has been tied to feelings of disgust contempt anger these negative hostile feelings towards people so in this sort of situation he's one not only recollecting but he's also feeling possible anger or just general emotional hostility towards the police force that are investigating him could this be because he was wrongly accused and he's innocent quite possibly could it also be because he's guilty also quite possible did they ask you to take a polygraph or anything like that no no well tonight cops come and they ask me if i remember anything and i told them no no then they asked me if they didn't come in the house and check the house over i said oh they don't brought my dad come on in so they checked the house all over everything was fine and they left a lot of shrugging in that again a lot of head shaking and this is all a reflection of negative feelings around that there are still multiple reasons for this it could be because he's innocent blah blah blah you know the reasons regardless he doesn't like that they went into the house even though he said that they had nothing to hide and during this moment with all of the insecure gestures and the no shaking it is still a red flag cluster for me to pay attention to and keep track of and hopefully by the end of this interview i'll have somewhat of an accurate nonverbal character sketch of steven avery if they asked you to take a polygraph would you would you not why well i got nothing to hide do you want me to i don't care he's flashing some disgust expressions you can see it largely in his mouth and in his eyebrows this could be because he is guilty and he does not want to but he is saying that he doesn't know and he has nothing to hide but he is still flashing this disgust expression which at very least means that he doesn't like the law enforcement there no duh i'm just at home work up there all day i'd barely go anywhere once a while i'd go to manitoba i can come back that's about it so so when you heard about it how did you feel it's too close to home something's happening you know it's not good everybody locks their doors now around here that's pretty bad when something happens around here during this time he's still doing a lot of no shakes and shrugging but that's showing up regularly throughout this and that's just insecurity in general like i said he's probably feeling quite insecure during this entire time especially if he's been wrongfully convicted before by this law enforcement and now they're looking at him again so when she's asking this he has a lot of insecure and negative bodily displays that just reflect his mental state at this time that being said in this part here i'm not seeing anything that sticks out as a red flag as possible to seat but let's keep watching i could see somewhere else but this is too close to home and get a little worried and know your family and it does it i mean knowing her i mean are you what are your feelings for her parents and they must be going through hell you know i figured my mom and my dad and everybody else my family they went through hell when i went to did 18 years for something i didn't do i figured they're going through probably the same thing because they lost somebody i really appreciate that the cameraman zoomed in on his face during this time because what i'm looking for are possible signs of sadness which would be an indicator of empathy in stephen avery and there is nothing his eyebrows have maintained their normal shape his eyelids have maintained their normal tenseness and his mouth corners have also maintained their normal position this is an indicator that even on a subconscious micro level he doesn't have emotional empathy with the family themselves he's not sad for them he doesn't even say that he's sad for them he just says that they're probably going through hell he doesn't say i'm so sorry for them he doesn't say it's tragic he doesn't say it's a terrible thing that's happened he just said that it's probably pretty bad to go through this is an indicator once again of his possible lack of empathy for those around him or whatever now she's gotta be out there somewhere so somebody should be looking a lot of squinting with his lower eyelids this is not in relation to recollection he's not recalling anything on any level so the squinting is interesting to me once again squinting is commonly associated towards these negative or hostile emotions and if he's displaying micro slash mini expressions of contempt during this time through the narrowing of his eyes that's not good news in general okay um so when she takes pictures of the car how does she usually do it i mean just kind of the front angle or what what angles of the car just usually mostly from the front to side no sense right there so you can see him do a lip lick multiple times throughout this interview i've been paying attention to him i'm making note of these times that he does it and so far they haven't been centered around any hot points of discussion they've either been right afterwards or a while before but not during the exact same time so with them being right afterwards or close to right afterwards during important conversations these would be an indicator of self-soothing gestures the lip lick is commonly a self-soothing gesture it is also a common sign of nerves which this is an indicator of either his guilt or his innocence if it's a self-soothing gesture this could be an indicator of it being stressful and he's trying to calm himself down subconsciously if he's guilty it would be because he's getting a dry mouth around certain hot points in the conversation she drives up to it and takes the picture and that's it this jacket is weird i mean do you think this is kind of odd now but there's stuff happening in the world all over eyebrow ray's there he says yeah but his pitch also increases and his projection increases a little bit this is a indicator of strain as you're forcing things a little bit harder he does a shrug and he does a partial squint and all of this is an odd nonverbal spike in his body language it's a spike and she asks a very important question does this not strike you as odd and he says well yeah pitch increase raises his eyebrows squints his eyes shrugs so on and so forth and then he says but weird stuff is happening everywhere so neither here nor there kind of thing and that seems to be a red flag to me as well this is an extremely odd incident to have a person go missing on your property be assumed dead when the last place that she was found was on your property that's more than odd that's very very strange and he seems to be trying to dilute it my question is why why is he trying to dilute it but this is just too close to home for me you know and i'm involved i don't i don't feel good you know you know i got all the heat on me again i did enough time i learned my lesson he's doing a lot of shrugging during this time a lot of insecurity he's flashing some disgust expressions that's to be expected as well and he's saying that this hit too close to home for him which is also fair but it doesn't detract from the fact that just a second ago he did try to downplay it a little bit to make it sound as if it wasn't as extraordinary as it possibly could be i will talk about the implications of that in just a second i didn't do nothing wrong i mostly stay home buy my own business well now all of this is happening and then i find out that she's out here now she's missing and i'm learning the same thing where is she where's she go another squint of his eyes and a small lip compression after that that is still another sign of hostile nonverbal communication towards this specific instance and this is directed specifically at the law enforcement that doesn't mean that he's guilty or innocent but it does certainly mean that he does not like the law enforcement i know people run away but there's gotta be a reason so yeah i'm wondering what all of that too okay thank you thank you okay right there for a second and that's the end of that little interview the night of the incident itself so i'm going to talk a little bit about stephen avery and his nonverbal communication what i feel is the case and i want to be clear this is my opinion based off the things that i have seen i am not saying that he is or isn't guilty i'm saying that he could or could not be guilty due to the fact that this is still an ongoing case and there are still more court hearings and more proceedings that are occurring especially thanks to the documentary i am not giving you a solid answer due to the legalities around the case that being said from what i've seen from steven's non-verbal communication his baseline and the spikes that we saw in the interview his suspicious behavior seems relevant in certain hot points of the interview he displayed odd nonverbal communication that did not match up with his baseline these served as red flags for me there were only a few and the footage wasn't very long so from this point on this is simply opinion based there's not enough data to establish a scientifically solid opinion of him it is strictly my informed opinion i believe that stephen avery is likely guilty and i have a few reasons for that not only because it's non-verbal communication really helped reveal some areas of stress around the conversation topics themselves and he didn't answer non-verbally in a way that i found adequately innocent but also because of his history his proclivity to violence his tendency to lose self-control his lack of attachment to those around him and his inability to empathize with them shown by his nonverbal communication the alternative is rather upsetting the alternative is that the police force went in with all of this evidence that was found and they completely framed him but that also implies that the police force that is there to protect the city against criminals and crimes to put it simply became criminals and did the crimes themselves it implies that they themselves murdered teresa that the evidence that was found was planted by them that they disposed of her using a fire pit that the blood that was found in her vehicle which was on the avery's lot was specifically placed there by law enforcement with his blood that was stolen from a vial it really as you dig more into this case and the possibility of both sides you find a very upsetting scenario all the way around based off of the probabilities alone stephen is more likely to be guilty to further that people have gone on record who had in the actual documentary said that he was fine and have changed their stories not the least of which was his ex who went from being supportive of him in the documentary to going on national television and saying that he was in fact an abusive terrible person who not only threatened her well-being but had often threatened her life and had carried out physical acts of violence towards her regularly she said the reason that she said the things she said in the documentary was because she was afraid of stephen i was able to analyze her body language and saw many signs of authenticity while there were a few signs of possible desynchronization and possibly deceit most of her interview rang with authenticity would you like me to be able to do that interview on here perhaps that could be another video that we do is the interview of stephen avery's ex-fiancee i know a lot of you have sunk many many hours of study into this let me know if you have found something that i was not able to track down this was a very messy case and extremely upsetting and there are a lot of opinions around it so go ahead and share yours in the comments below i do welcome them and it is always something that i love to be able to see people discuss and show what they have found because if anything the truth deserves to be found at any cost and i am more than happy to accept that i am wrong on what i have interpreted and seen today so let me know in the comments below if you would like to be able to see more videos like any other suggestions for other cases that you would like me to look at or any youtube drama or apologies or basically anywhere where you could find the need for a nonverbal read if you put it in the comments below and enough people also suggest that i'll eventually get around to analyzing it i really do appreciate your support and your involvement in this channel it has made it so much fun to be able to see this channel grow and i can't thank you enough but but without further ado that's all that i've got for the day my name is logan and you have been oh so awesome as you always are and i
