hey everybody it's Leroy from lyricgaming today I'm bringing you another Baldur's Gate 3 guide today we're going to focus on the Assassin subclass for the Rogue in this video we're going to cover features a level 1 of character creation including ability recommendations we will do a full level 2 to 12 breakdown including all features of the Assassin subclass and towards the end I'm going to give you some general equipment recommendations as well as my thoughts on multi-classing as the Assassin Rogue you can use the timestamps below to jump to areas that most interest you now remember to drop a like and leave a comment below with your thoughts feedback and questions now without further Ado let's check out the Assassin Rogue [Music] alright so at level one it's important to note about the Rogue before you get the Assassin's subclass at level three your primary ability is dexterity and you're gonna have saving throw proficiencies in both dexterity and intelligence your hit dies is 1d8 hit points and not counting any racial proficiencies you're gonna have proficiencies and simple weapons hand crossbows long swords rapiers and short swords you're also going to have proficiencies and light armor now at level one you're gonna have two special actions unique to the Rogue the sneak attack where you can do extra damage to a foe you have advantage against and there's also a sneak attack version with range attacks as well now when it comes to Ability points I recommend doing eight strength 17 dexterity 15 Constitution eight intelligence 16 wisdom and eight charisma now I'm putting a little special asterisks here of intelligence because I generally use my rogue as my character that's going to do a lot of my skill checks and a lot of them are intelligence based but there's going to be an item that I want to mention that you can get that can buff your intelligence to 17 and act one and it's very easy to get so that's why it's okay that we dump this to eight now I want to make a special note when it comes to skill proficiencies for the Rogues they tend to be known as skill monkeys as they have a good amount of skill proficiencies that you get to customize but you also get two where you get to choose to get expertise in them where it doubles your proficiency bonus and I 100 recommend that one of them is going to be perception so you can basically spot hidden traps items Secret locations Etc and then if you're gonna be playing a assassin or just any Rogue in general side of hand is the other one I highly recommend getting expertise in okay level two you're gonna get three new actions cutting action hide Dash and disengage everybody gets these base actions normally that you can use as a main action but as a rogue you get to use them as a bonus action so there's two ways to maximize this number one you use one of these as a bonus action and then you still have your main action to attack or let's say you need to get really far on a turn you can go ahead and do your full movement then you can use cunning action Dash to move again and then you can use your main action to use your standard Dash to move a third time so there's a lot of diverse options that come from this at level three you're finally gonna get to pick your subclass and of course we're picking assassin you're gonna get three subclass features the first one is assassinate initiative so in combat you have advantage on Attack rules against creatures that haven't taken a turn yet so this means if you get a jump on them this is obviously going to work and then on your first turn if you go before them an initiative you will also get automatic advantage this goes really well with assassinate Ambush because any successful attack roll against a surprised creature is a critical hit so again if you could jump on them before the battle begins or on that first turn if you go before them still they're gonna be surprised and you're gonna get Auto crits very powerful and finally to have this all work together you have assassins alacrity basically you immediately restore your action and bonus action at the start of your combat this is a big deal because normally if let's say you attack you shoot somebody or you attack them out of combat and you initiate combat when it gets to be returned if let's say you attacked your main action you would not have your main action again but here you will you'll get any action or bonus action that you have used that's going to be restored so you could potentially attack somebody multiple times while they're still surprised very powerful okay level four you're gonna get your first feat when it comes to feats there's a couple ways to go you're definitely going to want to at least once or twice get ability improvements and if you do get them at this level I recommend getting your dexterity to 18 and Constitution to 16. now you're also going to want to decide whether you're going to do wheeled or not you don't need to get this at level four but if you want to do wheeled then do wielder is very good because when you do do a wield you're going to get plus one to your AC and it also lets you do wheeled weapons that aren't light that is important for example long swords are not light but there are some finesse long swords in the game that for example let's use dexterity so keep that in mind there's two potential good benefits here also if you're going to be doing ranges attacks with bows quite a bit then Sharpshooter is amazing your range weapon attacks do not receive penalties from High Ground rules basically normally if you shoot up you're going to get Negative penalties for shooting up and then if you shoot down on enemies you get positive benefits additionally you also get a passive that you can enable or disable that will give you a plus 10 to damage for a minus five penalty to hit this is especially useful when you start combat because you are likely to have Advantage so that -5 isn't as big of a deal there are also three other Feats you may want to consider first of all universally lucky gets overlooked a lot you get three luck points that let you get advantage on either Attack rules ability checks or saving throws so this can be very powerful if you are not gonna do a wheel and you're gonna just use one weapon and maybe if for example through another class you get Shield proficiency defensive duelist is pretty nice as long as you're using a finesse weapon that you're proficient in you can use your reaction to add your proficiency bonus to your armor class so another way to get more defensive and finally alert can be quite useful especially if you're playing a no safe scum game it's because it's going to give you plus five bonus to initiative and you can't be surprised so as you level up those are the ones I recommend you choose from I normally start by getting my dexterity and Constitution up to whole numbers so we get bigger bonuses at level 5 you get uncanny Dodge which basically is an effect that when an attack hits you you only take half the usual damage this is basically resistance to all damage so that is pretty pretty powerful and you don't have to do anything else to get it there are no limits how many times you can get hit per round for this to take effect so even though your AC may not initially be as high as some of the other characters that wear heavy armor and shields you're gonna still take a lot less damage in a lot of cases so this is really good at level six you're gonna get to choose to have expertise and two skills of these following five either acrobatics stealth investigate deception and persuasion so you can choose whatever works with your build at level 7 you get evasion and this is an effect that when a spell or effect would deal half damage on a successful dexterity saving throw it deals no damage if you succeed and only half damage if you fail so this is the famous you know dodging out of the way of a fireball effect or or a dragon breath kind of effect from DND so very very powerful when it comes up big part of the Rogue identity at level 8 you're gonna pick your next feet so again choose based off what feels best at level nine you're gonna get infiltration expertise so you get to adapt a new day identity changing your appearance and it lasts until long rest I haven't really functionally ever used this in the game I'd love to hear some comments below if anybody has used this effectively in the game to help them in any way so if you have please let me know in the comments would love to hear that scenario at level 10 you're actually going to get a bonus feat the similar to Fighters but Fighters get one extra one so this is great for you to diversify as you have a decent amount of options that we discussed at level four at level 11 you're gonna get reliable Talent when you make an ability check with a skill you are proficient with the lowest result you can roll on the die is a 10. and then at level 12 you're gonna get your final feat so go ahead pick whatever's left over on your list of options so when we talk about equipment for the Rogue you're likely to want to focus on the best light armor you can you could in theory go of an unarmed build if you can fight the right armor but light armor is likely to give you enough of an AC boost and the fact that you do not have any penalties for stealth checks and no limitations to your Dex bonus that that's probably going to be the best option for you I will state I don't I didn't save all the best light armor since I multi-class my rogue so I don't have the best examples here for you but there's a variety of light armor out there and sets that you can get I will highly recommend you get the Warped headband of intellect you can Google this this is a famous and easy item to get in act one you kill a very smart ogre drops this and you will have permanent 70 intelligence which is going to really help out for your skill checks anything that helps with AC and saving throws is helpful there's the cloak of protection there's also a ring that I never got with the same effect in act one for weapons You're Gonna Want to again decide whether you're going to use finesse only weapons like rape ears short swords uh daggers that are going to be light there are though some really nice options if you go over the Dual wielder for example this failure aloe that you can get and uh under dark in act one this one right here you'll notice is finesse and it's a long sword so you would need that dual wielder feet in order to dual wield this with a one-handed weapon so lots of options on that and enough I would definitely recommend going with a bow if you're going to go with sharpshooter crossbows technically do more bass damage but there's some really nice bows out there here's my favorite for a long time because not only is it a nice plus two based weapon but it gives you two different resistances and it lets you cast haste so just pick the best options you have when it comes to jewelry there's items that can help your AC like the Ring of Twilight that's situational you can get items that help you with Movement Like The Amulet of Misty steps that's pretty easy to get so you can teleport and get better movement on the battlefield and so forth but again just think thematically to anything that's going to help you with your melee damage up in your AC and any utility spells that may be able to help you out now when it comes to multi-classing the Rogue is really built for it the Assassin soap class in particular really combos well of the Ranger if you want to go for like a range build or an assassin build there are some great guides out there for that you'll notice that the Assassin main Feats and features are really front loaded level three so you can go as little as three levels into the Assassin Rogue to get that big bonus on getting advantage on rolls and automatic criticals the other elements are more defensive as you notice as you level up so yes you can definitely build a great Rogue up to level 12 going Solo solo class however if you really want to min max your damage You're Gonna Want to multi-class there are better subclasses I would say if you want a multi-class of a monk but especially if you're going to go over ranger assassin is the best combo for that guys that brings me to the end of my Assassin Rogue guide video I hope you found it helpful if you did make sure to drop a like let me know your thoughts in the comments if you want to see more from the
