Baldur's Gate 3 - Gale Companion Build (Wizard Tank!)

it's your Gale a squishy Wizard and robes don't you wish he would stay alive long enough to help you get to act three today's build is the answer to the squishy wizard we are turning Gail into a wizard tank hi this is tab The Legend and welcome to another bg3 build video this time for Gail this is gonna be wait for it magical the concept of this build revolves around the OB duration wizard subclass which provides an arcade Ward to help absorb damage equal to his charges we'll be using this mechanic alongside spells like armor of agathis to create a sturdy wizard that can take a hit retaliate with unblockable damage if he's hidden melee all while letting you do all the wizard things you like such as fireballing everyone let's take a look at the character leveling discuss some potential spells to consider tactics and see it all in action ready let's go we start a career level one as a sorcerer when you meet Gail in your adventures he'll already be a level 2 Wizard most likely you can respack him and start over as level one Sorcerer of course you can keep him going as a wizard straight from there but I do recommend the switch to a level one sorcerer to start now at level one we're gonna pick up the draconic bloodline Sorcerer And this does two things for us this gives us the armor of agathis right away and it also provides a sturdy AC of 13 plus your dexterity modifier for starting abilities we want 14 index 14 in Constitution and 17 in intelligence at level 2 we switch up to a wizard what do you call a wizard that fell down the stairs tumbledore okay okay no more wizard jokes for now we pick up the wizard pick the Spells you like but make sure you pick up the shield spell as it is a crucial part of our kick level three we are gonna continue on with wizard and pick up the app duration subclass to get our Arcane Ward feature going we can start using armor foreign we take a slight detour for a cleric we go for the cleric depth to pick up the heavy armor proficiency as well as some healing spells to make good use of our bonus action I do like this as the support version of Gail you can ignore it and keep going with wizard if you prefer it but this will give you some options as far as heavy armor or you could pick any other subclass of cleric that you would prefer and keep going from there Gail can also scribe spells of third level so if you can afford a fireball spell or you found one you can learn it down at level 6 we are going back to wizard the rest of our career and this time we pick up an ability score Improvement feat we put our two points into intelligence that's a big brain move right there level 7 gives us three more spells or level three spells rather you pick your favorite but just make sure you pick up the counter spell because that will recharge your Arcane Ward and you'll keep our strategy going level eight pick up any spell you like here foreign level 10 we get another feat you can take the abilities core improvements to bump your intelligence to 20 or you can take the resilient fee to do the same in order to Max it out but if unlimited power is not your thing and you want some versatility uh consider taking maybe the dual fuel dual wielder feeds to have Gail use two staves we can take War Caster to maintain concentration checks on certain spells a lot better or take any feed you like I'm gonna go ahead and bump int with the resilient feet right there level 11 we get our fifth level spells pick up the summon Elemental for a bloody summon and then pick up any other AOE you like you can go nuts here level 12 final level we get an improvement to our Arcane Ward that works with short rests to help recharge it pick your favorites files here and remember your wizard so you can learn spells as you go you'll learn any spell that you didn't pick up all right so spell selection just a couple words for things that you want to consider so you're gonna need the spell uh The Shield spell for sure and then a few notable pickups are magic Missile would help you snipe some enemies Misty step for Mobility haste for more actions and Fireball for it's for Fireball you need one uh we will need counterspell in our book as well to make sure that we have enough Arcane War charges and to shut down enemies um and the rest of this fails you kind of figure out what gaps your your meeting in combat so for example if you want to control more um enemies at lower levels sleep is a good spell but of course you can change them out as a wizard as as you need as you learn more later levels consider more AOE spells and control spells like confusion to handle large crowds now our strategy for our spells will be kind of like this we're going to cast armor of agathis after a good night's sleep you're gonna summon your familiar or any other summon friend that you want or need you're going to use counterspell to shut down you want your AC somewhere between 15 and 20 make sure it's not too squishy but that low enough to attract enemy fire and to ensure that they occasionally hit and take the full agathis damage back the boat in this action will be free to be used for Misty step from ability or healing as you see fit in combat you're going to cast your massive value we used to deal with crowds control effects as needed and you're going to maintain your War the number of agathis as much as possible I like using my fifth level spell slot to cast armor of agathis right away instead of the highest level spell slot which is level six never Reserve that spell slot for something like chain lightning once a day well there you have it a gale build that won't break easy what do you call a wizard with a good outlook on life and optimistic is scale one in your playthrough let me know
