A Good Man, a Piece of Land, Puppies & Campfire Food- A Simple Life in the Woods

what's this video going to be about you're the star i'm not the star you're right you're not the star corned beef hash sourdough toast and eggs over easy oh man [Music] and she just burped getting attacked by a moose it's not what i thought it would have been [Music] i put a lot on this fire it's gonna be good look how roasted to perfection that is [Music] so today i'm at base camp you can see there's already been some snow here quite a bit of snow the snow does have its advantages though i'm here with bush radical who is building a cabin maybe if you stay tuned i'll give you a sneak peek of that cleaning up the site here i'm gonna be taking some things down getting ready for winter we can't keep these tents up all winter puppies have been having a really good time romping around here it's time for the tents to come down so i've been cleaning up look what i found inside hi buddy you're all cozied up we're gonna get in the atv buddy we're gonna go for a ride come on we're gonna go work on cleaning up some brush cutting some firewood and tidying up my cabin down on the river dave is working i'm gonna head out on the atv load up my chainsaw load up the puppies and we'll go hey little man did you have a nice little nap it's like yeah and i'm not done with my nap either come on puppies come on moose there you go what up maze it's one thing i'm trying to do is get moose to be an adventure dog he's doing pretty good i've had him on the atv a couple times now watch out girl oh boy okay here we go loading them up so i'm getting them used to riding in an atv you stay stay so every time i try to film this and then go get my camera he jumps out so i gotta i gotta just roll with this right yeah buddy he's a cool boy okay get in oh boy good boy good girl he's getting hang of it i just gotta go real slow here we go going down a big hill the rest of this trail is kind of rough so why don't you guys get out you can walk with me there you go you guys can walk with me while i do the atv okay let's go here we go oh boy keep going and here we are in the cabin yep winter is on its way so there's the snowy cabin looks like it's warmed up in there condensated a little bit this is a good moment to go inside and just see how things are looking in there um with this snow melting and draining let's go take a look yeah everything looks good looks like it's doing just fine that sun comes in here and gives it a little solar effect in the daytime i'm gonna have to empty that water it'll start freezing come on maisie but everything's looking good in here leave that open you drink little man i don't know if i've showed you this i'm up against this ridge on the other side puts me in a lot of shade here on this river but holy cow has it come up it has really really come up i used to cross the river right there on that log and that's not possible hi do you like that snow yeah he's a biting chewing machine so i'm going to cut some firewood and burn some brush beautiful day for it so i got this whole area to clean up this is just slash from cleaning up the site to build the cabin i get this fire going it gets hot enough it'll burn anything even the really wet stuff so clean this place up [Music] blazing in no time [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right come on [Music] [Music] [Music] well that cleaned up incredibly well that looks so much better i deserve a sit down i have an idea hey [Music] aha [Music] didn't install this for nothing [Music] hi hello puppies look at all the puppies look at all the good puppies in the world the moose and the is good look at these doors hi puppies hi coming back up you just want to bite me that's not nice that's not nice i'm trying to relax and you're trying to bite me i'll bite you i'll bite you back ow all right get down crazy no no [Music] so this is what it looks like now i just have some building material to take care of that so cleaned up it looks great oh progress and back to the fire probably gonna get going i'm gonna let this fire die down and we're gonna boogie go hang out with dave for the night at base camp let's go check on his progress too moose man good boy all right we're back at base camp let's go see dave oh come on puppies let's go go see dad let's go hello hi how's it going good he has an absolutely beautiful spot here oh my goodness it's so nice you can come up on the porch and look around okay i'll leave the rest a secret okay porch is my favorite part it's just going to be awesome so beautiful so we'll be able to come in here in winter it's going to be completely insulated oh yeah teen is an odd number you're gonna like the cabin daisy it's gonna be awesome yeah where'd moosie man go moose moose where'd he go where'd moose go moose come on were you down the ridge exploring good boy it's gonna be an awesome cabin i'm gonna go back to base camp and get us a fire get ready for dinner let's get this going fire is looking good stay back puppy stay back this pretty much over play hard crash hard amazing though she's awake good girl yeah the wolf is on duty hi how'd you do today good enough get this bag of fritos that's the bag of fritos that the mouth ate no those were chili cheese so mice prefer the chili cheese which i also and your dog prefer i'm gonna put that shirt on moose just fyi don't chew it up lay on it or not these momo's been fighting tugging and playing all day yeah i sure hope there's no precipitation tonight man i do too i got all kinds of stuff out it's not supposed to so no it's just cloudy yes get out of the fire dude lazy go go go take your moose with you starting to feel good that's a nice night for it yeah really nice night you're the eagle no i have heard them i've seen them i wonder if there's a nest out here oh that'd be awesome you want a frito boy he's dying he's climbing your lap for a frito no turn into a beggar i'll never give you any anything we won did you just open these are they fresh other demise yeah he's a crazy man for human food he's good with you hi dude that's amazing you're getting nothing wow you ain't getting none of these chips oh that's funny i wonder if you like sauerkraut i generally assume he can't get up on anything you want some sauerkraut you like sauerkraut hey hi he would lick it he was i didn't think he'd lick it crazy man wow you not feed him or something he's got tons of food they got food i'm just gonna guess he ain't in the sauerkraut i'm gonna give him a piece here in a second we'll see but if he's into any sauerkraut it's gonna be frank's the best sauerkraut now i actually like this frank's sweet there was literally two cans of sauerkraut on the shelf in the grocery store it was completely empty two cans of regular franks i i'll take it but i like frank's sweet with the caraway seeds just a little better we're going to see if moose likes this i didn't know there was a difference oh yeah lucy you want to try this he's eating it he's totally eating sauerkraut wow he gobbled it right up you imagine the dog farts with sauerkraut a dog that likes sauerkraut well he came from the amish he's an amish dog he knows good home food sauerkraut's it moose the amish and maisie is a cheesehead we got her in wisconsin yeah what a crew oh all right so that's just regular frank's kraut i just like the sweet with the caraway seeds better it's like special you know i don't know i mean this is more like frank's has always been like a real distinct but i guess because it's the sweets because i always get the sweet this is like the sauerkraut of my youth what's your dog doing hey hey hey oh my goodness he's got bad manners he was standing on the griddle and licking it too dude not cool mood he's a little forager he's a surprise dude he's like give me some more sauerkraut so i like that oh dude that's hot wow that's hot it's a bit much for cooking that's bonfire fire not cooking fire but we'll make do look at him sauerkraut dog i gotta leave that alone that's good oh and i know i could eat a whole can of this just just eating it i did the other day i had a cat in my bucket oh it's so good he likes getting scratched he has bursts of either crazy man or like snuggly little tired puppy all right let's get these reubens going he stops scratching he just wants to bite puppy teeth so the legs going yeah it's gonna be good quarter pound reuben's right here this little man is very interested then this is a russian reuben the only way to have a reuben russian dressing not thousand island people it's got to be russian you ever put that on a salad no i haven't either i only put it on reuben's the only place it belongs look at the beauty of that moose is around his his normal hunting grounds we're usually bagged some sauerkraut but there's no luck today get back mr moose man [Music] crazy moosie so i got this homemade you know dave made me this morning oh yeah it's happening bushcraft splishcraft look at that yeah it's just from a piece of what two by six yeah it's a pizza piece of 2x8 i think 2x8 works it's better than nothing dude i found a 2x6 in my pile today i bet it has 100 growth rings in that 2x6 oh my it's the best by six i've ever seen i was almost like sad to use it right these are gonna be amazing that's a thing of beauty right there my goodness oh that's perfect babe oh sorry did you dream it oh yeah good looking reuben i like mine with pine needles dear lord thank you so much for today thank you for all the ways you've blessed us we thank you for this food and we ask that you forgive us where we fall short in jesus name amen amen it's hot i'm gonna let it cool a second i never get sick of these man i don't either never i wish i could work at dark yeah you get up at three in the morning you're wide awake oh man that's no good be nice to just go get back at it always wide awake at 3am always there we go okay you know you get the first bite here it is open up look at that oh did you did you try it you gotta dip it in a little bit of russian mm-hmm [Applause] that was fantastic i was thinking of this ribbon like four hours ago nope dude that guy's got no manners well i mean if it's on the ground he's gonna lick it that's just how it is you start using a cobra to flip your eggs as opposed to a spatula that'll teach him he's a what a cobra [Laughter] no hi it's probably hot though just like a toddler you just can't keep your eyes off him you're going to get in trouble you can't get hat thrown at him that's my pencil is it give me that how does he keep finding your pencil that one just fell out of my pocket quite a crew you got there bunch of filthy beggars is the problem you think i'm gonna hold you while you bite me you're wrong and those are good we're really good in chili mac my favorite never again got a chili mac in alaska dude i was crippled like i woke up with the worst i was on the verge of throwing up i had the worst like abdominal pain is that the mountain house stuff yeah i love that stuff especially with fritos like i got the most terrible cases just indigestion from that did you have it with fritos or just plain i just had the mountain house i didn't know about the fruit i shouldn't even given you the opportunity to say anything on that you got top of fritos you would have been fine no i was not fine it was bad i don't care for these so much but i really like the salt they're really salty yeah they are so let's go take a look in the tent at the puppies put themselves to bed oh look at the babies ootsie bee gotta get a fire in here and get it warm it's cold yeah that would be good wouldn't it look at these characters buddies and they're so zoned out it's nice and warm in here we moved inside it's windy and chilly outside now it's just really nice in here right babe oh man i could go to sleep put us right here toasty eight o'clock if that but we've got our lights we've got heat all is good see you guys in the morning hi oh very nice day sun is coming up these guys have been up a while we're starting out the day today quite a bit warmer than we have been it is so nice and warm out here it's pretty great get back from the fire goofball nice what so you'll have a roof on today though won't you oh yeah easy take that donut now oh so i'm going to wander a little but i'm also going to be looking for chaga right now thank you i'm gonna put that roof on put the sidewalls on do a little bit of sight cleaning there and then i think i'm gonna go wander around it's gonna be an amazing day for that i'm gonna take these guys they don't want to go with me moose stopped halfway just sat there did he wait for you i was like come on i was asking him like come on he looked at me like i don't think so then he just sat down yeah so i went to the truck and i grabbed the bag of fritos and crunched them shoot come running give me my radio when you're done with it okay i'll see you at the job site [Music] corned beef hash sourdough toast and eggs over easy oh man i like my corned beef hash crispy [Music] there we go this is good [Music] hash is first eggs on top now you put gravy on top sausage gravy and a piece of toast look at that oh salt pepper okay it is time oh dear lord thank you so much for this day and the little bit of warm up we've had is so thankful for the weather to enjoy this property thank you for this food thank you for the joy you bring to my life thank you for everything lord jesus name amen you know the deal you get the first bite and look do you like the yolk me too sausage gravy and some corned beef hash here you go open up oh wait it needs something i gotta have this here we go oh fork who cares it's gotta have tabasco like lots of tabasco there we go you wanna bite now no okay that's just fine i'm i don't have to share if i don't have to oh man by the way the dogs both just had amazing gourmet breakfasts they slobbered over boats get out so even oh it looks like they're hungry they just and she just burped we're gonna make daddy a plate of breakfast too we'll take it to him [Music] okay puppies let's go take food to dad let's go he's coming our way i brought groceries i brought her firewood i brought groceries you did yeah i guess you're gonna eat at the fire now oh sweet because that sounds nice yeah i have a very nice breakfast for you oh thank you that was weird timing it was come on bubbies okay dad's coming to camp you made me breakfast yeah i was on the way oh that would have been awesome but this is good too yeah this is better because this nice spot to sit down thank you need tabasco oh my goodness dude that is so good looking heck yeah wow that's how we eat around here corned beef hash with two fried eggs on top and a piece of toast that looks so good we've said that the older you get the more you like all your foods like like a shake and uh that's definitely true when i was a kid i didn't want anything touching like i didn't want anything on the plate touching now it's like put it all together oh that's so good yeah i doubt [Music] this thing dry out a little bit put it away [Music] two good pines right here and drop them add them to the pile [Music] you guys think there's some good firewood huh yeah oh got a good bed of hard maple and some really dry pine pretty good mix [Music] piece of roof metal [Music] that's good makes me happy well i'd stay here tonight in camp but uh dave's at base camp while he's working on his cabin he'll be at base camp so i'm gonna i'm gonna hang out with him much as i'd like to stay here i do love my husband just a little bit more good day's work okay we're back at base camp we're gonna go take a look at dave's progress i can hear him working get a fire going let's go see daddy who got your toy okay come on let's go let's go sunset's early these days and uh it is chilly i'm ready for a fire right you balls come on how's your project [Applause] wonderful i cut up a bunch of 16's i needed to fill in little gaps and then i realized that i needed him for the ceiling oh now i'm splicing fourteens and twos yeah it's gonna be beautiful i think so so what we do while dad is working is i sit on the ridge this beautiful ridge and i watch these momos play come on luis it's a lot of fun ah get her get her [Music] [Music] [Music] oh it is too cold to just sit there i'm going to base camp get a fire going dude i'm going for it tonight [Music] i've done everything but poor gasoline on this thing i want a big fire all right we got the fire we got fritos and got a fire going in the tent too because it's chilly tonight we got our moosey man i was looking for him i'm like where is this guy you know where i found him in dave's sleeping bag he's no dummy it's so cute let's not forget mazie daisy she's the princess baby who's awesome this is dinner gonna do some cheddar jalapeno dogs we only have one roasting stick so you're waiting i have a perfectly roasted jalapeno cheddar dog but how could you make it better you could make it better by wrapping it in sourdough that's what i'm doing i got some sourdough here i'm gonna wrap this it'll be like the famous last moment of my cheddar dog look at that oh yeah let's roast it here we go this is where we find out if the sourdough is better than the croissant like in the tube thing that you can get which is really good oh it's looking good it's doing this thing it's doing its thing nice you can do it too give the patience i don't know i wasn't sure i'm all about like the best food ever on the campfire but some people just don't care i just want some food that's a jalapeno dog honey this is an amazing moment of perfection with a jalapeno dog the only place is to find a jalapeno dog on the end of that stick or at a gas station on those hot rollers no no no those are not these these are a step above and you wrap it in homemade sourdough dough like that's amazing only the finest food only the finest food jalapeno cheddar dog from the west quiet don't ruin my jalapeno cheddar dog moment okay do you guys see this it turned out so good i know it's hard to see look at this it's roasted to perfection it's really hard to see how roasted to perfection this is can you see it better now no you really can't i've let it cool just a minute so i can like actually take a bite you get a pretty good look at it here sourdough really did its thing dear lord thank you so much for this food this day that i got to explore and cut wood and be with my dogs and be with my husband i'm just so thankful to be here such a good day thank you for this food in jesus name amen all right you know you get the first bite ready here you go open up okay let's try this oh wow actually the sourdough adds a thing oh super good honey do you want the stick if you're done with it i'm done with it here are you sure you're done yeah that's a beautiful dinner right there how can you go wrong look at that oh that's fantastic supposed to be low 30s high 20s tonight got to get some sausages in the belly to fuel the night here we go dog number two i'm going in to get warm here's the tent it is calling my name happy times hi oh look at the puppies we got a warm fire oh this feels so good in here yes go from working all day long in the cold to coming in a warm tent you got a radio dogs dog butt put you right out yeah it's pretty great hey man you keep stealing my gloves all day give me that give me that glove little man definitely knows how to get cozy i know maisie take your spot dude get in there claim it get in there daisy go lay down go to your bed go go kick him out it feels so so good there's a little dog can't really see there's a fire going but it is nice heck yeah don't lay down there feeling your feet oh that feels so good my feet have been cold all day oh yeah that's they could use a blanket i know so this morning he was shivering i stuffed him and then he went back and like spooned with maisie so he was cold this morning just shivering little guy from over here you can't see moose all you can see is daisy like her teeth oh it never gets old it's so funny oh he made a noise he's such a quiet puppy doesn't make any noises it looks like a crocodile's mouth oh she loves it daisy's gonna put it right inside those jaws and just crush him i know it's so funny yeah this is every night we do this every garbage daisy get him she will she'll nip him [Laughter] it's just chaotic circus i love it are you with us honey yes did the heat get you oh it's getting me i'm enjoying it very frosty see what the temperature is oh that's daddy's hat [Applause] oh yeah that's good i'm getting attacked by a moose it's not what i thought it would have been oh the wolf the wolf is back from defending the homeland what did you see daisy tell us about it whatever it was got scared and ran away because they knew the wolf was on it on the job oh my goodness he's pumped man go do something with yourself there she goes again don't you go outside moose go get her that ain't going to help is it like that scary noise dad's going right to work no breakfast no coffee that's hardcore not me i'm preparing an epic spread all for me apparently i'll be thinking of you when i'm eating my breakfast it looks great i'm just you know i'm not hungry you should get that wood get your wood go bite it go bite onto the wood get it you're not into it at the moment and play some bongos don't you [Music] wolf is like i like bongos [Music] we did good dogs look at the doggies oh daisy's been out barking at nothing because that's what she does classic whipple wood stove breakfast right here eggs scramble with all the goodness finish off this bottle of tabasco look at that look at that warmed up the salsa a little bit too that is a beautiful sight in my belly it goes yeah lord thank you so much for this day this food this beautiful place we have and we can spend time together here and we just are so thankful for our blessings thank you for this food in jesus name amen do you know the deal you get the first bite there it is open up eggs scramble all yours [Music] waking up having breakfast and a fire in a canvas tent is it's the best it's 29 degrees out i've got this oil hot enough now this stove is cranking little little dessert elephant ear for breakfast here comes the cinnamon sugar looks pretty good doesn't it [Music] that's pretty good oh babe's looking good i am going to finish packing up and hit the road so do you want me to leave these guys with you so you can have fun with them no no i want to just work okay thanks for
