A Brand New Adventure - Better Minecraft Let's Play | Ep 1

hey guys Jay wasp here and welcome to better Minecraft today we are embarking on a brand new adventure because never on this channel and really never in my life have I ever played modded Minecraft but today that's all going to change now if you don't know already better Minecraft is a mod pack that adds about 150 mods to the game as you can tell by the name better Minecraft it sticks true to vanilla Minecraft Everything added looks like it could fit within the vanilla game however as you can tell it adds a lot more for you to explore this mod pack is actually really popular so a lot of you might have some experience with it but if you haven't checked it out yet I really recommend it I haven't played modern Minecraft myself personally even though I've been playing Minecraft for about a decade and I've messed around with this mod pack a bit and I'm having a lot of fun with it although even though I've messed a run with this mod pack a bit I still haven't really done a ton with it so a lot of what we're going to be doing is going to be totally brand new me so it's gonna be an interesting experience now as for every other series on my channel they are going to keep going but this is just going to be a brand new little thing okay there's some sort of weird structure over there but what I do want to eventually check out once we get some basic tools and items is whatever the heck this is over here there's a tower and then there's a there's a duck I don't know what's going on checking web app it looks like there's some villagers over there because our little mini map can actually show us what mobs are nearby but I'm not sure what's going on do this oh it shows the little item above the crafting table and we have our first item in better Minecraft there we go oh okay let's uh let's take the crafting table and get out of here do I want to fight them probably not oh wait they're gonna burn okay you know what you guys can stay in the water I'm gonna get my crafting table and then uh and then I'm gonna make my exit away from here let's see I really want to check out what's on the other side of this little river here so if you want to check this out yourself I'll leave all the relevant links and the seed of this world down in the description let's see if we can get it on screen right now in case you guys sort of want to play along with me the main reason I haven't really done modded Minecraft in the past is because I never liked the idea of changing the base game of Minecraft I thought it was all weird and also there's a lot to learn but I'm ready for a different experience we've done a lot of Let's Plays on this channel but we haven't really done modded Minecraft so why not start with one of the most pop popular mod packs obviously there's other popular mod packs like RL craft and Tekkit and things like that but it's it's a it definitely changes the game quite a bit what I like about this mod pack is it's a nice introduction because it's still fairly vanilla okay what do we think is going on here I see a villager so I think we're in safe territory here's some beds okay I'll take a bed and oh okay um I'll take this a check I got a book huh decorate your home okay oh okay it's for one of the mods it shows you all the different things you can craft okay interesting um I don't really need that book so I'll uh I'll leave it in here but let's see what we got we got 11 pieces of iron okay that's definitely a good start okay this is what we're gonna do we're gonna make ourselves an iron pickaxe and then we're gonna make ourselves an iron sword to protect myself and then is there different types of she I'm confused why are there three different Shields here oh you can make a gold shield well I'm gonna make a normal shield for now besides that let's also make ourselves an ax and I guess an iron shovel okay let's plop this down now one of the reasons I wanted to make an ax is I wanna I wanna test this out I've never tried this before oh that was beautiful oh my gosh look at how many apples we got oh yes we're gonna have no shortage of golden apples in this let's play but I'm sure there's a lot of you out there that have a lot more experience with this mod than I do so I want to know let me know down in the comments below what would you like to see me do within better Minecraft if there's some interesting challenges or things you want to see me raid or build or things you want to see me do let me know but let's check out what's going on in this Village it's another little tent over here I guess we're just gonna um raid this and take as many items as we can for an hour okay I'm not too worried about some of these other items but some of them I'll take now I want to know what is going on here we've got a big duck and some little ducks and some candles is this like Duck worship are these villagers worshiping Ducks I don't know but I want to know the answer well if we are worshiping Ducks uh I just want to know why but can I take these little ducks oh hey yeah okay this one's adorable I'm gonna take this one no way okay games aside I really want to figure out what this is is this just a village or they're gonna be oh hello oh different villagers and they all have their own names okay anything inside of these barrels anything I can take I might try to steal uh some items uh oh hello can I can I take this they're gonna get mad oh well I guess on episode one we have uh we have diamond armor okay I do have to comment though look how beautiful this is I mean the shaders obviously help but even without the shaders I feel like this is just a very beautiful mod pack so so many of these uh mods are very cosmetic very pretty I'm a huge fan of them is this a little like underground dirt house what's what's happening here's the thing I almost feel like I shouldn't be rating some of this because I feel like I'm just going to get way too overpowered but then again these structures are spawning everywhere in better Minecraft so it's probably pretty easy to get fairly strong early in the game now even though we're getting really op really early on I also have to keep in mind that there are going to be some boss mobs and non-boss mobs added to this game that are definitely a lot more difficult than vanilla Minecraft along with that there's also new armor types new weapon types and new strong things for us to explore oh some cool signs follow the following me to find a village so 90 blocks and 800 blocks that way oh we have the jungle Village type what's going on dudes now what is this oh okay we discovered something and there's an eye a vendor on top of it oh it's a Way Stone is that what it is forgot the way Stone now if I go on my map I don't see anything but oh look at this I found some cocoa beans and if I hold left shift it actually shows that it grows at different speeds in different seasons I think that's really cool okay our first night is completed in better Minecraft we did it and we got a little toucan what's up dude I feel like one of my favorite additions to this mod pack is just the tiny little mobs and sound effects added everywhere that make the world feel so much more alive what is going on here oh we have these little Golem dudes copper Golem that was removed from Minecraft or I guess never got added hey dude now here's the thing this giant Colosseum looking thing has been staring at me from the corner of my eyes so we need to figure out what this is I don't think this building's supposed to be here oh we have a skeleton okay we'll let them fight it out for now um anything inside here the good place okay what is this good place what what's inside of here anything good for us oh look at this okay good thing I checked up this higher chest yeah I have a feeling this little house is not part of this giant Coliseum so let's check out this so here's what I really want to do I think I wanna I wanna explore this Coliseum and then after that I want to do some resource collecting I want to make myself at least a little bit of a starter house I don't just want to live within one of the Villagers houses not only do I not want to steal their house but there's so many fun and unique blocks added to this game I feel like it would be a shame not to use some of them in some cool builds here's what it looks like maybe the entrance there's a spawner in the middle do I break it or do I leave it oh I don't know what that is I don't know what's going on why do I have levitating hello that's a giant Phantom I don't know what that thing is am I supposed to break this boner or leave it um uh I I think we should uh we should probably leave that thing alone for now yeah there's a definitely a lot more to this mod pack than I knew and uh maybe I should uh play it safe for now oh okay well at least we get a little Waypoint to our last death now this is a lighthouse I'll check that out later oh my God a squirrel squirrel this is so adorable look at these little guys I feel like this mod pack is really gonna let me live my like Cottage core fantasy vibe that I really I've really been wanting to explore with all these like pretty flowers everywhere oh and these are carrots but I was gonna say all these pretty flowers everywhere who's this hello totem of preserving oh okay I didn't know that was uh that was a thing interesting however I don't want these additions to make the game too easy so maybe I should be upping my difficulty I'm not sure but uh let's let's just get away from that Phantom I feel like the longer I play this I'm only getting more questions than answers so hopefully we can sort of figure out what's going on soon oh what is going on inside of here oh definitely a lighthouse oh look at this it's a continuous Redstone clock so if I go outside to the bottom oh look at that up there that is really cool I think since this is such a cool and large landmark and uh this is kind of help a black pig anyways I was gonna say since this is such a new mod bag and I don't want to get lost I think I'm probably going to build my house around that Lighthouse it's near our spawn point we didn't explore this whole village yet there's this Coliseum that I have no idea what's going on and there's this Lighthouse so I think this is a nice area for us to settle down on the other side of the river there's also some different Ravines and caves so it'll be good for mining plus we've got this a pretty little Pond right here that I'm a fan of okay so here's the plan we've got ourselves all stacked up or as stacked up as I can be and I brought some resources I have some torches to light my way I have a water bucket in case I need it for fall damage I've got my bed for when it is nighttime and I've got some shears that I want to bring to collect some leaves besides leaves though I want to also collect some blocks just around here and come back here and make ourselves a pretty little house maybe those villagers were worshiping Ducks because it seems like there's a lot of them around here alrighty so here's what I've gone ahead and done I made this little platform of grass uh significantly better I I did some Excavating it's a lot bigger and so what we're gonna do is take some of the resources I have and I'm gonna try to make some sort of you know just small little starter house for now probably right around here next to this little uh little mushroom Pond thing okay it's actually quite a bit later I've taken a lot of time to build this house but I think it's come together pretty well here we have our nice little starter house I really wanted to experiment with some more of the different wood types and block types we have within this mod pack so if you look here we have our classic oak wood but then we have these smoother Oak planks inside we have a nice little shelf some chairs and a table I love Furniture I don't know why vanilla Minecraft does not have furniture yet it needs to have furniture besides that on the outside here a lot of this darker wood you see isn't Spruce it's actually Walnut and I only had one tree of it originally but I decided to plant a few more I broke them planted them again and I planted a lot of saplings around here we have some of the different oak trees and then we also have a few of these cherry blossom trees they weren't close to here but if I looked I went on my map and noticed there's this like pink Island over here and it's these cherry trees that are actually really really cool the wood type itself cherry wood is very dark maybe I should I just wanted to show off one piece of wood it's okay we'll grow it again uh the wood type itself is very dark but inside there's this nice little print ready color pretty ready what am I trying to say there's this really nice red pretty color there you go um and it's really nice but I've got a decent amount of items now lots of just random wood types and blocks and whatnot but I'll get myself organized sometime soon I also messed around on the outside with putting a lot of bone meal which spawned a lot of different types of flowers and I mean a lot and I also put some planters on the side of the house with some of the different orchids and whatnot and I think they look super duper pretty all while we still have this weird little Phantom skeleton creature in the background I don't know what to do about it look at him what is and he's immune to fire damage yeah I don't know if he's uh tough to defeat at all though so I'm just gonna leave him in it for a while I have to say though I am really enjoying all these different flower variations and different things you can build with wood like the shutters the fences the Planters I spent a significant amount of time on this starter house and I mean really just experimenting with a lot of the different blocks much more time than I spend in a normal vanilla Minecraft it was nice to have some like more ideas to be able to express myself creatively and I found it really fun so we've done some exploration we checked out some of the new blocks but what I want to do before we end today is I want to check out some of the mining in this mod so I got sort of my materials together I rated the rest of the village to uh give myself a little bit more food and what I want to do is head back over there around where we spawned because there were a few caves that led to some deeper underground areas I've gotten a pretty good sense with our big map and doing some exploration of how different and Magnificent the Overworld is and I'm curious if if the same applies to underground I know this mod pack adds lots of new blocks but it also adds lots of new ores and things like that which can only be found underground and so it'll be interesting to also mess with those and see what we can get from them alright here we go we have a cave let's see if there's anything good for us here we're definitely gonna have to be careful though like here's here's what I want to know here's some Cobblestone right is that what this is oh it's diary it just looks different I was gonna say maybe this is a spawner I don't know let's get rid of the zombie and keep checking this out oh look at that if you look at the top right of our screen it actually switched to an underground map so now I can actually see the cave so I okay I don't have to actually figure out where the cave is it just automatically shows me that I actually really like that that's really cool it also shows some water which I presume is some underwater caves maybe that's interesting Granite also looks significantly different I really like the new diorite texture that looks a lot better but I really liked the original Granite texture in Minecraft and I'm not sure I'm a big fan of this new one let's see if uh I make polished Granite let's see how this looks okay that's nice I can get with that I really like building with granite so I don't like when people mess with it I'm just seeing a ton of copper which I'm not really interested in right now what I am interested in is this iron so this is interesting there's this dark block everywhere and it's called soapstone I guess you can make polished soapstone too I'm not sure if there's any real good uses for this block let me know down below if you know anything about it I haven't seen it before I do like however one thing I really like about this mod pack and I mentioned this earlier is how vanilla Everything feels I've messed around with some mods occasionally in the past that uh the mods themselves felt like they didn't really fit within Minecraft however this mod pack is totally different everything added really feels like it fits within vanilla Minecraft now this is Cole yes so what is this also coal okay I guess there's just a lot of different textures for coal I know I'm jumping around skipping a lot of oars here but that's because my main concern is not to just get rich this mining trip I honestly just want to explore and see what there is for me to find oh look at this some Redstone and Lapis just sitting on top of the mine shaft okay oh candles in the mine shaft good touch I also like how the gold has this little uh pixel particle animation around it it looks really nice okay what is what what is this oh oh hello Ash huh can I do anything okay I know what a skeleton skull is but Ash what am I gonna do with that what were those just like pots huh interesting so if there were pots underground I wonder does that mean we're gonna find other remnants of sort of like people that have been here before maybe like lost civilizations or just individuals that have maybe left some things behind for us to find I don't know I'm gonna uh I'm gonna keep my shield on and just keep my torches in my inventory for now I already am in love with this map because one of my issues with uh abandoned mine chefs is I can never figure out where the other entrance is in exits are but oh now I can see them all hello now what is what is this room gold diamond diamond lapis gold deep slate diamond oh my gosh what okay like I was saying before I'm a little weary because I feel like I'm getting so overpowered so fast ooh let's light up the spawner like I also have to keep in mind though that diamond isn't even nearly the best or in better Minecraft there's many other ores that are also very good but to go along with that there's also many other mobs that are much harder to defeat so I feel like this data pack or this uh mod pack is fairly well balanced I'm gonna be taking all this gold because we have stacks of apples in our chest at home so now we're gonna be able to make tons of golden apples oh I'm so excited okay based on oh I like how it shows my uh sword there anyways as I was saying based on what I've seen so far I feel like the underground is definitely not as unique and different as the Overworld but there are still some nice additions what I'm gonna do now though is head back because I don't have a ton of food and a ton of torches with me a ton of armor stuff like that a ton of resources and I just wanted to do a little bit of exploration to see what sort of my options were when I'm underground Oh but before we go what is this block oh is this also just iron just with a different look oh it's iron inside of diorite that's pretty cool wait a minute what is this now hello t oh TNT has a new look too okay and here here's the big cave now I'm I'm gonna avoid this for now just because I don't have enough resources and I don't feel confident in my skills enough to uh keep me safe through here but we will definitely oh Mr slime uh we will definitely come back and explore this in the future because uh this looks pretty awesome just a little too scary for me right now well as we are on day nine we have officially survived a little over a week and better Minecraft and I couldn't be more happy I really hope you guys enjoyed I am absolutely loving this mod pack so far it is just you know it's comfortable enough to be as close to vanilla Minecraft that I'm comfortable with it however it's got so many new and unique things and I really like being able to express myself a little bit more creatively with some of the cool unique blocks but that's all for today's episode please
