I wasn't already familiar with this type of lock or what it's for—it's a hidden shackle (or "puck") padlock, this video shows how it's used.

I feel like this is the first LockPickingLawyer I’ve seen that isn’t really pointing out an obvious flaw. It’s showing criminals something about a lock they wouldn’t have discovered themselves.

Just curious but which locks does this guy actually recommend? Does he have a part in making very high quality locks?

this is the lock-picking lawyer and a few days ago in video number 903 I featured this warlock model PK L 10 per clock and showed you what it takes to pick it open while disassembling that lock in the video which I will link below I noticed a potential design weakness which we're going to test today if we look at this core we can see that the locking lug extends upward toward the face of the lock body that means we have a really thin portion right about here what that means is that this spring-loaded locking lug which should be the most protected point of this heavy lock is only shielded by about an eighth of an inch of steel if we can drill through that we can open the lock now drilling it may not be easy this is made out of hardened steel which will blunt or destroy many drill bits but a carbide bit should get thrill so let's head down to the garage and see if this really is an exploitable weakness okay folks were back upstairs and as you saw there were a couple of problems first I apparently didn't tighten the drill bit in the Chuck enough and second the drill bit snapped when it broke through something very easy to do when you work with solid carbide I probably would have used a carbide tip drill if I had one but I dealt with what I had on hand even with those problems though I was able to open this lock in about a minute so it could promptly be done much faster the question then is how can this be fixed and I think it's actually pretty easy if we rotate the core either 90 or 180 degrees let's take a look at this very similar lock made by Cobra and if we remove the core we'll see that the locking lug comes out the side it doesn't come out the top so we don't have that same weakness it's probably a little bit harder to manufacture that way but I think it's well worth the effort in any case that's all I have for you today if you do have any questions or comments about this please put them below if you like this video and would like to see more like it please subscribe and as always have a nice day thank you
