40 Things You Didn't Know About Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs Update

hey what's going on guys my name is anthony wow i haven't said that in a while anyways today i bring you 40 things you didn't know about minecraft 1.17 like this video and subscribe to the channel if you want to see more videos on the 1.17 caves and cliffs update anyways on with the video as of minecraft 1.17 waxed lightly weathered cut copper stairs has taken the record of having the longest item name in minecraft containing 41 characters that is just utterly ridiculous anyways moving on the amethyst geode structures you usually find in caves can sometimes be exposed on the surface of your minecraft world which can be a nice surprise for the player before minecraft 1.17 experience orbs used to follow the player when they were dead which was rather strange in 1.17 however a change was made to where they no longer do this the pointed drip stone block has been added in a recent snapshot for 1.17 and it makes up stalactites which hang from ceilings and stalac mites which stick out of the ground this means caves are going to get a lot more dangerous as you can in fact take damage from them so the damage taken from stalactites is based on heights so if it falls from two blocks it will deal one heart of damage to the player three blocks will deal two hearts four blocks will deal three hearts and so on players can also take damage from stalac mites so once again damage is based on height so the higher you fall the more damage you'll take when landing on this spiky block in the 20 w46a snapshot for 1.17 you were able to get an unlimited amount of the newly added candles this was done by placing a candle on a cake spamming right click on it and uh yeah it would just duplicate it for some reason as of later snapshots however this bug has been fixed but it's a cool little fact in minecraft 1.17 cauldrons will slowly fill up with snow when it's snowing similar to how cauldrons collect water when it rains you can then use a bucket to collect the snow from the cauldron giving the player a powder snow bucket which can be used to place the newly added powdered snow block which looks very similar to regular snow however powdered snow differs greatly to normal snow as players can walk through it and also fall through it this makes the block quite useful as blending it in with normal snow makes it a great way to hide your chest in a secret base from other players powdered snow can also be used to create lava traps as again you can blend it in with normal snow to make the well terrain look well normal a player will then walk over the pouted snow fall in lava and die players can now freeze in minecraft as standing inside powdered snow will put this cool looking freezing effect on screen while also slowly decreasing the field of view after 15 seconds of standing inside powdered snow the player's heart will change to this frosty texture and you'll take half a heart of damage every three seconds until you eventually freeze to death however wearing any piece of leather armor will prevent the player from freezing when standing inside the powdered snow very cool indeed get it because cool and freezing to moving on in minecraft 1.17 the compass has had a texture change originally looking like this to now looking like this rest in peace minecraft alpha compass texture you will be missed the weathered copper blog actually has a typo in the word block having a capital k come on a capital k in block this is absolutely outrageous fix this immediately mojang only joking please keep it it makes the block unique anyways moving on in the 20 w45a snapshot for 1.17 you were able to get unlimited amounts of amethyst shards by doing the following duplication glitch first of all build this redstone setup with a comparator a repeater and a lever like so next up place a sticky piston some slime blocks and then surround the slime blocks with amethyst shards press the lever and bam it will generate an infinite amount of amateur shards which is insane the bundle is a storage item designed to help manage the player's inventory however adding bundles meant players were quickly finding ways to exploit them so in the early snapshots for 1.17 you could use bundles to duplicate items to do this you would need 17 bundles in your inventory and you'd then start by filling one bundle with the 16 other bundles you would then fill every inventory slot with a junk item to make your inventory completely full you'd then right click on the bundle to empty it but because the inventory is full it would force the 16 bundles on the ground next up pick up the 16 bundles and you'll notice that they are stacked instead of being separate items which is where the dupe glitch comes into play take the 16 stacked bundle right click on the diamonds and then separate the bundles into their own inventory slot and there you go when you right click on each bundle it will contain diamonds which means you've duplicated them this sadly doesn't work in newer snapshots but you can still do it in the 20w45a snapshot using the newly added candle in 1.17 along with an end rod allows the player to create a pretty cool sword design that looks like this for example you can place a dragon head with the sword design above it and it looks like you've slayed the dragon with a sword still in its head which is uh a bit morbid but it's cool another thing you can do with candles is craft a red candle as when you place them next to tnt it makes the candles look like dynamite which looks pretty awesome not only has the compass had a texture change the clock has as well originally looking like this to now looking like this again rest in peace minecraft alpha texture for the clock you will be missed even though i never really used the clock back in the day in minecraft 1.17 when creating a world the order of the game modes has changed before it was survival hardcore creative now it's survival creative hardcore why have they done that it's gonna be hard to get used to copper ore being added in 2020 means it has been eight years since we have received a new all for the overworld that's right emerald ore was the last all we've received for the overworld and it was added in version 1.3 in 2012. in the caves and cliffs update the grass path has been renamed to dirt path in minecraft 1.17 cauldrons can now be filled with lava i know what you're going to say bedrock players i know you've had this feature for a while but just just let us enjoy it okay following water will no longer break rails in 1.17 as rails in this update can now be waterlogged and used underwater that's right minecarts now work underwater which is pretty cool placing vines on copper ore makes the vines appear to have flowers or some sort of plant growing out of them which i quite like the candles item texture has been changed a few times so far so when it was first added it looked like this which looked a bit horrible not gonna lie it was then changed to look like this having two candles for the item texture then finally the candle item texture was changed to final time to only have one candle although the upcoming warden mob has not yet been added in the snapshots for 1.17 an image surfaced on twitter showing just how big the mob actually is as you can see the warden can be seen stood next to an iron golem and it is significantly bigger than the iron golem so i think they're going to be quite scary when you encounter them this image right here shows how the new mountain generation is going to look in minecraft 1.17 and uh i like it but if you look closely you'll notice the mountains go way above the clouds which may indicate the height limit being raised in the 1.17 update what do you guys think if water is above pointed drip stone then the water droplets coming from the drip stone can slowly fill up a cauldron if lava is above pointed drip stone then again lava droplets will come from the drip stone and slowly fill up a cauldron as well so
