minecraft's caves and cliffs update has officially split into two different updates one releasing the summer and the other releasing in the winter and with it comes the release of new mobs biomes blocks and incredibly rare secret items we'll be sharing with you in this video so make sure you watch until the end to learn everything you need to know about the summer update so caves and cliffs first part is going to bring some awesome new mobs into the game and they are extremely unique the first of these new mobs is the goat which is going to spawn in mountain biomes and of course goats are known for just standing on the sides of cliffs so we're not surprised you'll find them on the mountains the goats will have the ability to jump over five blocks high and are going to be a neutral mob it won't attack other goats but it will attack nearby mobs and players by charging and knocking them back super far yeah so basically watch out on the mountain you can suddenly get thrown off it by a rogue goat they will have a ton of other cool features too because they are mountain goats they aren't going to take as much fall damage as other mobs and they will automatically jump over any powder snow in their way if you want to breed the goats you could do that by using wheat and it will create a cute little baby goat and if one tries to charge at you and you dodge it it has a chance of ramming into a nearby block if that happens you're gonna be able to pick up a goat horn they don't regrow so it'll be interesting to see how people farm these guys and finally if you encounter one of these guys in the bedrock edition then it has a two percent chance of spawning as a screaming goat because apparently it's not the internet if there isn't a screaming goat they're of course not the only mob coming in caves and cliffs part one because we have another creature in the works and it can be found in the bodies of water with lush cave biomes introducing the axolotl which i think that's how it's pronounced it's based on the critically endangered mexican salamander of the same name and well just look at this thing it's adorable this is the minecraft version of it and it looks equally as cute and they'll actually be the first amphibians added to minecraft there are passive mobs so you can admire them from a close distance without worrying and they are going to be very useful to players indeed you'll be able to catch these guys in a water bucket just like pufferfish and they come in quite a few different versions there's lucy the pink variant wild a brown variant and scion there's also a rare version of the axolotl you could find which is blue and this one only has a 0.08 chance of spawning and these guys are really neat because they will actually play dead when you damage them and receive regeneration while they do so that part is probably based on the actual real life regeneration ability that axolotls have so i'm not kidding they actually regrow lost limbs it's kind of cool what's the benefit of these guys in minecraft there's a few pros to them so first if you see an enemy mob like a drowned attacking an axolotl and then slay it you'll get an effect of regeneration as a reward if it's an elder guardian the axolotl will fight back and if you help it kill the elder then they will actually remove your mining fatigue effect it's pretty cool and if you like watching these guys in the ocean you'll probably notice that they will attack any other fish on site and pretty much wipe them all out they are ruthless for such a cute little salamander i expect a lot of pros to bring these guys with them in underwater monuments once the update drops and finally we have a third mob which was actually chosen by the community in a vote a while back this is the glow squid and it originates from minecraft earth it's the first ever mob added to minecraft based on a spin-off game and it's going to glow in the same way that other mobs do if you want an example there's magma cube cores blazes vex under men and more they all glow the same way and so what's the actual use of these glow squids well once you take them out they actually drop glow ink sacks which you can then use to make glow item frames you'll be able to find glow squids in the deep ocean and in underwater caves and like i said it won a vote which was held last year and was chosen over the moo bloom from minecraft earth but you probably heard enough about the mobs the whole point of the update is caves and cliffs and that brings us to one of the most important changes in part one of the update let's talk about the new biomes so mojang is saving all of the new procedural generation for part two in winter but there still are some new biomes coming this summer and they are mostly the caves part of caves and cliffs so let's break it down one of the first biomes coming this summer is the drip stone caves biome it's going to be a type of cave filled with pointed drip stone as well as the new drip stone block it's based on real life caves that are filled with spiky rock and definitely makes them look more realistic than the holes on the ground we're used to and then finally we have yet another type of cave being added called the lush k biome these are extremely different from what we're used to and are gonna cover caves and moss and brand new types of plants the moss covers the ceilings and floors entirely and even clay pools can generate in these caves they look awesome and are just scratching the surface of what we'll eventually get in part two but part one is all about the new items and that's exactly what we're talking about next let's check out every single new item so as we mentioned earlier in this video some of the new mobs actually drop brand new items exclusive to the caves and cliffs update talked a bit about the glow ink sack and how they can actually be used to make low item frames and even glowing signs which is gonna be pretty freaking useful there are also the goat horns that goats can drop if they ram into a block and if you use this item while holding it it'll play the raid horn sound effect but that's it for now they are working on more ways to use the goat horn but when it arrives this summer that's all i'll probably do and unfortunately the goat horn will be bedrock edition only but mojang are making up for that with a java edition exclusive item too introducing the spyglass and you'll be able to craft it using amethyst shard and two copper ingots if you're wondering where copper came from we'll get to that in a second and if you know what a spy glass is you could probably already tell what it does you'll be able to see faraway objects using this thing and if you press f1 you could remove the border that you'll usually get and just get like a zoom function it's a neat trick probably going to be very useful once this update goes live and interestingly a powder snow bucket is coming to minecraft and it's going to help us place powder snow legitimately this is going to be great for secret rooms or booby traps and you could also create these buckets with cauldrons filled with powder snow and finally we're getting raw metals although these will only be in the java edition instead of dropping ingots iron and gold ores will now drop raw iron and raw gold when mined you then have to smelt these into ingots if you want to use them for crafting it's a new extra step and is definitely gonna shake the gameplay out but with new items comes new blocks and we saved the best for last there's a ton of new blocks and they're gonna really change up the game so let's talk about them lightning has always been something to look out for in minecraft but with caves and cliffs part one we won't have to worry about it setting our builds of light anymore introducing the lightning rod block you'll be able to craft this with three copper ingots and it will actually divert all nearby lightning strikes of the rod and that's going to be very helpful in protecting your builds from thunderstorms but it does even more than that it actually emits a redstone signal and if it's struck by lightning there's all kinds of crazy contraptions that can be made with this thing it's really exciting there's also some new overworld ore variants called deep slate ores that will generate below y equals zero in the new update these variants will look and work similar to the original wars but will take twice as long to mine you'll find deep slate versions of iron gold lapis lazuli diamond and redstone so keep an eye out while you're down there not all blocks have to be useful though and that's proven with a new decorative block that's coming in part one we have glow squids and new glow items so it's no surprise that we're also getting a globe lichen block listen block i don't know how to pronounce that it's not a regular block though it's an extremely thin non-solid block that can go on all sides of a solid one it looks kind of similar to vines but it emits a light level of 7 hence the glow part of the name and if you apply bone meal to this thing it will actually spread to a random nearby block which is cool you'll find these things in caves but we have been bringing up copper a lot in this video and if you're confused it's because copper is indeed one of the new types of ore coming in part one you'll find it underground and when you break it it will drop the new raw type of item raw copper although that's in the java edition only if you play on bedrock it'll drop regular copper ingots you could then use these copper ingots for a ton of different things and that brings us to the brand new copper block and you could use these for crafting and storage then you could use the stone cutter item to craft different types of copper block you have to cut copper to make stairs and slabs and they can't be turned into regular blocks or ingots what's crazy is the copper doesn't just stay the same once you place it either like real-life copper it will oxidize over time and become green this could also be sped up by rain and if you don't want this to happen you'll be able to use honeycombs to make wax copper there's also a new type of glass coming in the summer update it's called tinted glass it's finally an official glass block that will not allow light to pass through which has a ton of uses right now it's only going to be in the java edition but apparently it's in the works for bedrock 2. you'll be able to craft it with four amethyst shards and a glass block and it's different to regular glass and that it drops once you break it no more needing silk touch at least for tilted windows but that's everything important in part one of the caves and cliffs update make sure to click on screen right now to check out our next video of course this has been tommy thanks for watching t5g
