50 Things You Didn't Know About Minecraft 1.16 Nether Update

hey guys big video today here is 50 things you didn't know about minecraft 1.16 the nether update has been out for a few months now but i'm still discovering new things about this update every day so like this video and subscribe to the channel if you want to see more videos like this anyways here we go opening a chest in a bastion remnant structure will alert the piglet mobs so a good way to loot the chest without alerting piglens is to place a hopper underneath the chest ruined portals are the only generated structure in minecraft that can be found in more than one dimension which is of course the overworld and the nether the newly added chain block is actually using the top texture of the lantern see before 1.16 a bug existed in the game where the bottom part of the flower pots texture was completely invisible in 1.16 however it was fixed so flower pots actually look normal now if you fall from a ledge in the nether then place down a twisting vine as you won't take any full damage if you land on it ruined portal structures as you know generates with a chest but did you also know there is a 1.5 chance an enchanted golden apple can generate within said chest this is a strider a very cute passive mob added in 1.16 however when it was being designed it didn't always look like this this texture right here was a very early design made for the strider which looks very different the next early strider design is this one notice that there is no hair and one has six legs while the other has nine legs the 1.16 nether update has taken the record of adding the most blocks into minecraft in a single update adding a total of 74 blocks the chiseled blackstone block looks just like a normal block to most players but if you look closely you will notice that the middle of the block has a pig snout on it which of course is referencing the newly added piglen striders are the only mob that can spawn in every single biome in the nether the 1.16 nether update is the first minecraft update to add new types of tools and armor since the in-depth version of minecraft which came out in 2009. wow has it really been over 10 years since we've had a new tool and armor type that's weird snow golems will now drop their pumpkins when sheared in 1.16 cheers mate the piglin brute was actually created late in minecraft 1.16 development which meant they were pushed to be added in a minor release of the update instead which was 1.16.2 so i'm sure a lot of you know that the wither boss is created by using soul sand and wither skulls but did you also know you can create the wither by using the newly added soul soil and wither skulls pretty cool pressing the f3 and f4 key at the same time allows the player to choose and toggle between all the different game modes in minecraft in the snapshot phase for 1.16 a minecraft developer released a youtube video of hogland's killing piglens to showcase a never seen before victory dance that looks like this however this feature was never added into any snapshot or the official update because this feature was made as a joke with that said however there is a 10 chance of piglins doing a victory dance after killing hoglings poor hogland's man their awesome dance never made it into minecraft the bobbing animation that the strider makes while walking was initially an accident however the developers thought it was quirky and fun so it was added as a feature very cool despite being made out of nether right the lodestone block is not immune to fire and lava damage whereas netherrite tools and armor are the pigstep music disc is the only non-renewable music disc in minecraft as they can only be found in busty and remnant chests whereas every other music disc in the game can be obtained every time a skeleton kills a creeper soul fire torches lanterns and campfires are a good way to protect yourself in the nether as piglet mobs are scared of them however the dangerous powerful piglet brute are not scared of soul items so don't even bother trying as they'll just kill you in the process crying obsidian is a new block that was added in the 1.16 nether update and the block is used to craft a respawn anchor so that players can set their spawn point and respawn in the nether but did you guys know that crying obsidium was originally planned to be added into minecraft all the way back in 2011. that's right crying obsidian was originally going to use this texture and was also planned to be used to set your spawn point but in the overworld instead however when beds were added into minecraft in 2011 in version beta 1.3 they took the role of players setting their spawn point instead fast forward nine years later we find out that the community had heavily requested crying obsidian return in 1.16 as a way to respawn in the nether as it would be a nice call back to its initial intended functionality before beds were added in 2011. another nice callback to the original crying obsidian is changing to the programmer art texture pack as it shows the original texture for crying obsidian that was planned in 2011. when nether gold all was first added in the 1.16 snapshot the oar itself would drop when mined allowing you to get one gold ingot per or just like normal gold all however in a later snapshot a change was made to where the orb would drop two to six gold nuggets when mined slightly nerfing nether gold ore compared to the normal gold ore cobblestone and blackstone can be combined with each other to craft stone tools furnaces can also be crafted with blackstone or combining the block with cobblestone with that said blackstone cannot be used to craft dispensers droppers and pistons despite them using cobblestone in their crafting recipes when netherrite armor was first added in the 1.16 snapshot they used slightly different textures so the armor originally looked like this but in minecraft today it looks like this so yeah the changes are quite subtle ancient debris is a hard all to find due to mostly being buried beneath the depths of netherrack so an efficient way of locating the rare ore is to destroy a load of netherrack with tnt or beds this is due to the ancient debris being completely blast resistant so you'll destroy a bunch of netherrack and encounter this awesome ore despite ancient debris being extremely hard to find emerald ore is still considered to be the rarest ore in the game due to only being able to find emerald in veins of one whereas ancient debris can be found in veins of up to three blocks smelting ancient debris in a furnace gives the most xp to the player out of any item in minecraft striders will take damage from water rain and splash water bottles but they don't take any damage from cauldrons filled with water which is very strange minecraft developers confirmed that the only reason striders drop string is to answer the question of how piglets are able to make crossbows so in other words piglens kills striders to craft their crossbows which is which is just horrible i don't want to know the pixel music disc is the only disc in minecraft that is not composed by c418 who if you don't know is responsible for composing all of minecraft's soundtrack pigstep is instead composed by elena rayne who did a fantastic job on the track to be honest before minecraft 1.16 in creative mode right clicking on water with an empty bucket would drain the water source but not give you any water in the bucket in 1.16 however a change was made to where right clicking on water with an empty bucket will give you an additional bucket filled with water while still keeping the empty bucket which is pretty cool during the snapshot phase for minecraft 1.16 netherright armor could be crafted by the player that's right to craft a netherrite chest plate for example all you'd need was a diamond chest plate and one near the right ingot and bam you could craft the near the right armor however in a later snapshot the netherrite armor crafting recipe was removed and you instead had to upgrade your diamond chest plate in a smithing table by using a netherright ingot so obtaining the armor is pretty similar to be honest in minecraft 4.16 food can be placed on unlit campfires whereas before they couldn't in minecraft 1.16 tools in the creative inventory are now sorted based on their material rather than having the tools being listed in a random order which is a very nice change when loading up minecraft 1.16 you may have noticed that the mojang logo has changed and it looks like this it's cool i like it but this logo will always be my favorite in the official artwork of the 1.16 nether update a wither skeleton could be seen in the soul sand valley biome despite wither skeletons not being able to spawn in that biome with the addition of netherrite swords it's now possible to kill undead mobs such as zombies in one hit by using the smite 5 enchantment and finally
