338 Lapua vs 50 BMG vs Bulletproof Glass

[Music] what's up guys my name is scott and you're watching kentucky ballistics and today we're going to revisit our bullet resistant windshield we got this last year it's half of a humvee bullet resistant windshield it's a pretty thick piece of glass and it weighs close to 110 pounds i'm pretty sure it even says that on the back we shot with a 500 magnum last year we used five different rounds and of course it held up it didn't come close to penetrating it but it did damage the windshield so we're going to take that into consideration today because it is damaged so i'm sure it would hold up much better if it was a brand new piece of glass but half of it's still in pretty good shape so i figure why not shoot it with something bigger and see how it holds up so that's what we're going to do today first we're going to shoot with a 338 lapua then we're going to shoot with the 50 bmg and see what kind of results we get okay we're going to start out with the 338 lapua we have our savage 111 long range hunter the ammunition we're going to use is made by lapua and these are 250 grain full metal jackets so we got some glass on the ground here's where we hit and we dug out a nice hole in that glass but did we make it through we did not still nice and smooth there is a bulge but we did not make it through that's pretty awesome the 338 lapua did not make it through the glass so now let's blast it with the 50 bmg we have our surboo rn50 and we're going to be using some just regular old full metal jackets these are 660 grain full metal jackets made by pmc now if this does not make it through the glass i have a backup plan i've got some armor-piercing rounds so we're gonna get through that glass one way or another so i was aiming down here there was a nice undamaged spot i hit a little to the right and we actually ended up blowing the frame off of this but it looks like the glass was going to stop it it's bulged right there and i think the only reason it made it through is because it shot out the side and then it hit our backstop so let's go pop it one more time with the full metal jacket and see if we can get it to stop it okay so this time we hit the glass right here you see the tiny little hole where it entered and that glass is just powder so our first shot with the 50 bmg shot out the side and blew the frame off of this thing and look how bent that is so it looks like the bullet just took the path of least resistance and shot out the side but our second shot here there's no denying the 50 bmg blew completely through the glass and there's some jacket there and you can see the glass just all blown out and then we hit our backstop well that piece of glass was pretty tough i just wish we would have a new piece to shoot with the 50 bmg because i really think that a brand new windshield would have held up against that 50 bmg full metal jacket so tax season is here and i know that refund for a lot of people is gun money so for today's question i want to know is there a gun that you're planning on buying with your tax refund let me know in the comment section down below be sure and check out underwood ammo and if you want 10 off your purchase use coupon code kentucky10 and if you need something to shoot check out defense targets and if you use coupon code kentucky7 you'll get seven percent off your purchase also don't forget to check out kentucky bullish's clothing not only supporting our channel when you purchase a shirt or a sweatshirt but you're also supporting the tilda hall project and their cost be sure and check them out i will leave links to all these websites in the description down below my hearing protection day was sent to me by pro for show now look i'm going to do a review on these my next video they sent me these to try out and that's what i've been doing i've been actually trying them out i've been wearing them over the last few videos we've made and today was my last test i wanted to wear them by shooting the 50 bmg so i'm done testing these out and it's time to give you a review on them also they sent several in different colors so i'm going to give one or two away on the channel and give several pair away to my patrons so be sure and check that video out and possibly get you some free hearing protection well i hope you enjoyed the video don't forget to hit that like button and subscribe to the channel if you're a new subscriber don't forget to hit that little bell at the top it's going to give you notifications we upload new videos also don't forget to check out kentucky ballistics on patreon facebook instagram and twitter once again my name is scott you've been watching kentucky ballistics and i'll see you next time you
