10 WEIRD Gaming Stories of September 2019

every month there's a ton of gaming stories and some home just really stand out hi folks its Falcon and today on game ranks the weird gaming stories of September 2019 starting off at number 10 a 26 year old flute player from Japan recalled on Twitter when he was little and he learned to play the Zelda treasure sound the four-note dead at have a thing on the flute his mom responded by saying even playing the video games again no foosball for you Bobby Boucher I mean obviously she didn't say that directly but you get it basically his mom thought video games were counterproductive and he had to take to even hiding under his bed sheets playing the game I'm assuming with some form of big goofy old headphones from 20 years ago but he sort of proved her wrong in that he's accomplished a lot as a flute player and it all came back around from when he played the flute as in the flute for the new legend of zelda links awakening remake the game he was playing that got his mom all riled up in the first place there's basically no way not to look at this as very cool unfortunately not something that everybody gets the opportunity to do which is what makes it kind of weird but still good job dude number 9 tennis player nick curiosity US Open now that's not a videocam story what so the reason he lost according to him is that Call of Duty ruined him as in his eyes he was basically claiming that because of Call of Duty his eyes didn't work he was saying I can't see the ball and the lights gaming bro Call of Duty has ruined me the implication being of course that gaming has ruined his eyesight I think we actually talked about recently in a video it just has numerous scientific studies saying doesn't really happen but hey if it's an excuse to lose the US Open shirt keeping in mind there are probably instances where gaming does actually hurt your eyes you'd most likely be talking about circumstances that are abnormal and not the normal way people play games if the young guys playing call of duty on a couch for like extended periods of time its most likely not going to be the worst thing that ever happened it's not gonna cause like an immediate breakdown of your my balls I have to imagine so maybe not the best excuse moving on to number eight here we have the real version of that a woman in China played mobile games night so much into the wee hours of the morning repeatedly every single day literally lying in bed all night playing games with the screen next to her face blasting her with light and as blue light is known to do with the optic nerve when in high concentrations damaged her eyes it was actually so bad she got glaucoma at age 28 which is normally something you get when you're an older person now I want to stress that part of the reason this happened is because she was doing it for such extended periods of time with a screen literally right up in her face and this is just speculation on my part she didn't have any of the light modifications on and was possibly turning the screen up all the way as far as brightness goes because I can tell you that every time I've used a smartphone in bed at night I've always made sure that the auto brightness is on and the blue light reduction is on and the story mentions about how brightness and blue light are the things that can do this but I think the real most important thing to mention is that she was doing it until sunrise almost all the time I find it hard to believe the tennis complaints were really of the same variety you don't play call of duty on a phone right up next to your face and if you're able to play tennis you probably weren't awake all night long every night so I want to stress that I think that these things are very different moving on to number seven hey a fallout 76 collectible item got botched I almost don't want to include this as it's not really weird for that to happen at this point that's happened enough times to almost call a regular thing but this one involves mold yeah this red fallout 76 helmet that was exclusive to gamestop was recalled because a piece of fabric in it was apparently very prone to mold and given it was prone apparently a large number of them had mold now they had only ever sold 32 of them so not a lot of people have really been affected because as we all know not a lot of people have been effect my father at 76 a relatively unsuccessful game compared to a lot of other games by Bethesda but just to repeat the point that I made at the beginning here I think we all know that fallout 76 merch is cursed at this point so and moving on to number six hey remember that guy who got in trouble for swatting because it killed somebody yeah he got sentenced to 15 months in prison which I guess is kind of weird on account it seems like nobody really took this seriously when it first started to be a problem and to actually hear he got convicted and was put in jail he's a very weird thing for me I remember when I first started hearing about swatting and seeing so many people sort of skeptically be like well why would anybody do that that seems dumb and then people ended up dying from it and so anyway KC Viner who ended up getting somebody killed in 2017 pled guilty hoping that would get him out of any jail time but it didn't I have to imagine it got him less jail time that's usually how that works and I mean it's not the worst thing that this guy is being held accountable in fact I think it probably should happen but hey let's talk about the fact that police shoot people because of prank calls just gonna say it again here maybe police should be a little less trigger-happy moving on to number 5 in Japan they are opening an eSports hotel which I guess isn't the worst idea but it is also kind of strange to see the eSports has gotten that big so it's gonna be an eight story hotel and it is in every way exactly what you might expect the plans for it are very flashy with the first three floors being just a big eSports gaming area with lots of computers setup lots of red chairs red everything and the actual hotel rooms themselves will feature obviously gaming computers and streaming equipment and all that I think that whoever came up with the idea for this hotel it's not weird at all I think it's kind of worth sitting and going wow eSports has gotten that big that is the thing that might give you the little oh yeah this is actually kind of weird when I think about it thing because it's became a big industry and it's happened fast number four valve issued an update that allowed NPC's to blink in half-life games again it's because back in 2014 they issued an date that changed the way they distributed all of the data for updates which also strangely stopped all of the NPC's from blinking unless they were told to in a cutscene by a script now this affected every single source based half-life thing so half-life episode 1 episode 2 half-life 2 even half-life source the semi remake with tons of bugs and although people had unofficially fixed it it was nice that valve actually decided to you know do some game development I know that's a very typical criticism to levy against valve but I mean that's a very simple thing to fix I have to imagine and it's good they did it moving on to number 3 KFC made a dating sim for some reason I assume it's probably to try to take advantage of the quirkiness of something like hot aful boyfriend but like I'm just gonna go ahead and say what a blatantly awful corporate cash in that is hey look people like the dating Sims especially those quirky ones let's make our brand into one we'll call it I Love You Colonel Sanders a finger licking good dating simulator because we just want people to know how silly we are now I'm not doubting that it's possible to have a good time with this but come on the reason that the weird dating simulators are fun is because they're weird if you do weird but with corporate backing it stops being weird because all of the people who you would expect to go nah don't do that said you can do that moving on to number two people always wonder why the Kerbal space program developers don't use and body physics which is just be clear a way to calculate the gravity of various interplanetary bodies but they found that putting it into the game caused the game to not work right like moons would start hitting planets at a fairly alarming rate he's thrown me I'm gonna lose it Kerbal space program is obviously not the most realistic game of all time so setting it up with n body physics is maybe not a great idea they're going to do the same thing with Kerbal space program - which is the simplified physics system they use from the first planets just generate a static sphere of gravity which is probably smart if apparently solar systems were collapsing in on themselves due to simulated gravity yeah probably good idea now a lot of people have suggested they move over to a physics simulation but they're like no no no that's a bad idea we tried that it doesn't help and finally number one an 89 year old gamer grandma who puts videos on YouTube and has since 2014 has given the advice of getting into games while you're young because as we all know the stereotypical gamer is around her age 89 I just I don't have anything to say critical about that I agree get into games while you're young and also play them while you're that old that's cool also a couple of quick bonus ones for you hey you know that awful defense that EA posted to Reddit about battlefront it actually won a Guinness World Record for most downvoted comment of all time which is great and they deserved it they deserved it congratulations EA for getting something that you deserve and finally the very last thing we want to talk about it's a bit weird that call of duty modern warfare survival mode is ps4 exclusive until October 2020 considering we're on like the verge of another console generation is
