Woodturning, The Barrel Of Surprise...

oh look at the chunk on this so folks look at the size of this thing so i  actually got this from my neighbor this tree   fell down in the wind last year or a year before  actually um and he allowed me to pick a piece of   this chunk from his garden so today i've no idea  what but we're gonna make something out of it   just before we start the funk did you know that  i'm on tv next week oh yes so if you're in the   uk you can tune in to channel 4 mend it for money  new series coming out i was involved in the pilot   last year which was pretty cool and i got the  opportunity to go back and make another load   of episodes they've done 20 episodes and i'm  in about five or six of them so check me out   on channel 4 mend it for money right let's  see what we can do with this piece of junkness i had to take off some chunk because it was too chunky the dust this creates is insane that  reminds me i've got some special   happy fairy dust for all the trolls out there no didn't work   um just time oh   do there's some really nice wood grain in this  actually look at this really quite nice that's   smoothed out really well i kind of like that so  just put a sand and cedar on it and up next is right folks we're going to smother a little  bit of the old yorkshire in here as well   um just to finish this this lid this is a lid by  the way i've no idea for what yet i don't know   um but um and i made it quite kind of  like deep inside because i'm probably   gonna cut a bit more this way later on  so put a bit of yorkshire on it and then   what we'll probably finish it with is  a bit of wood wax 22 just to polish it and then we can see what we can do at the base groovy baby yeah so right now we've got this badger to fit  we just need to put some shape into this good insertion so so so so so okay so we have added some sand and sealer  in there a bit of yorkshire and some wood wax hmm food oh foreign hmm foreign hmm whoa oh oh so right who's ready to see the final result yay   a barrel full of pine cones anyone so a pretty  chunky piece of pot um i really like this wood   actually i actually don't know what kind of  wood it is but um i wish i got a bit more of   it now because it's got some really cool looking  features in it um i'll have to ask my neighbor so   thanks to my neighbor for letting me have a piece  of this tree um and it's pretty cool um i might   make another as you know i cut off a little  bit of it because it was just getting too big   so i might make another piece out of that  maybe a bowl or something and uh no resin   no resin in this one folks um that you  know even though well there is there is   resin there from another project but i didn't  actually put anything in this one so um yeah   that's not like me what about little two no  this thing just doesn't work like it used to   notice then well folks thanks  for watching this program   uh episode um i hope you liked it a little bit  different i wanted to incorporate those pine cones   since we did that project because uh you know it's  quite a cool feature and i didn't want to throw   those away so uh why it's not wonderful thank you  to everyone that's come over to the and say as you know or  some of you will know we've had to postpone   make a central again because of lockdown and  everything else we're just not going to come   out a lot down until march if not beyond that i  don't think so it's impossible to run the show   in may so we've had to move it to august the 7th  and 8th we do hope that at that point in time um   things will be much better and we'll be back to  a little bit of normality so we can run this show   and i'd love to meet some of you at the show  we've got loads of people coming just to confirm   i have already had confirmation that bobby duke  will be attending august show and jimmy diresta   will also be attending their august show still  waiting on confirmation from loads of mother   makers but stay tuned check out the
