honest with you there's gonna be a few who crack the code we talk about all the time on the show and it's it's tough because it is a completely different format yeah this is like this is actual entertainment you can only do this savage dance for so [ __ ] long yeah and by the way keep going until tick tock runs itself into the ground but you have i'm looking at the views here 6.3 million views on your chapstick challenge with uh your your girl addison uh 3.3 million views uh this one only has 1.8 does youtube censor you do they based on your videos yeah you're you've fallen into that if i if i know that i'm using a copyrighted song or if i cuss way too much i'll demonetize the video myself because when you get demonetized it like stops sending it out like recommended right and recommended so like i just completely demonetized the videos you could still do that and it could still be buried uh they really yeah they mark it as mature you'll never know it's it's it's thrown into a mature category and uh it does not get served which is which is the majority the majority of the audience that is watching on youtube which is why we as creators all you is use it is because of the discoverability and uh if you're not showing up on search you're not gonna be able to grow as quickly well i know it's all based off of like audience retention that's why i keep my vlogs short and i've noticed like a lot of youtubers even yourself like you you do like ten minute pluses i do i do longer because my retention's like seven seven minutes per vlog yeah see mine's mine's like 80 85 percent amazing number one is actually click-through rate on your thumbnail ctr then retention you're absolutely right and then there's a bunch of other categories under like how many how many videos have on your channel has this person watched and if they've watched all your videos they're more likely to get served there's a lot of those facts you can find them online but you're obviously doing a good job of it for you know you know what you're doing it looks like yeah i mean i was doing youtube before tick tock i only hopped on tick tock because um i saw the tick tock kids blowing up and i i saw their engagement it was like insane on unseen like nobody even the musically kids i was a musically kid as well even like the musically people their their engagement wasn't that crazy so i was like looking at at these tick tockers and like the the lip syncing and i've done that [ __ ] and i i moved past it i've matured yeah and i was like holy [ __ ] do i have to really do this because i was at a plateau like i was at a point where i wasn't growing as fast i was actually like red social blade um and i i was like i'm gonna really have to [ __ ] do this [ __ ] again and i did it it's so funny hearing this because his uh career path quite literally almost exactly is parallel to minor to me did vine youtube came out i saw that everyone's popping off on youtube switched to youtube and then vine died i was prepared like a lot of ironers weren't and look what happened it sounds like you've diversified correctly and even you a lot of talk about this thing with trailer i think yeah yeah i can i mean like i can't tell about like the deals and [ __ ] but what happened they they paid you they're they're paying they're paying people to move over there i don't know if i'm going to do it yet uh because i don't want to continue to do that i don't think that i don't think there can be another app that replicates another app and it blow up past that app well the the big bet in the space right now is that the compliance issues actually have a major damning effect on tick tock so we've already seen it happen in india india said yo tik tok no more and triller blew up trailer is now the number one photo and video app in india but for how long it i don't know i i don't know i mean you've gotta you've got this direct replica that's in direct competition with tick-tock and now i bet you that as each country shuts down tick-tock tripler will probably be the one that retakes that that spot the trailer team's sharp too yeah no they're right i mean jake's fight under triller yeah trailer vids i think that's crazy yeah yeah i know they're doing it right right now but well i mean it's like only time can really listen until until tick tock goes down you're you're absolutely right until tick-tock goes down trailer will not and i'm pretty sure you will not see domestic success i'm pretty sure tick tock's gonna get banned within the next like month two what a lot of people don't see and what we don't talk about on this podcast a lot is the is the lobbying efforts i mean they're spending hundreds of millions of dollars on lobbying washington to keep tick tock alive like you could read all about this i mean this is this is not a battle that happens you know tick tock tick tock during a renegade dance it happens in senate oversight committees and [ __ ] you know us intelligence says that the chinese are listening like so the government just outlawed tiktok on all military and government phones so if you have a government phone you cannot have tick tock on your phone i think i'd be concerned if our government officials were scrolling tick tock at night i mean look at how many videos we've seen of military members on tick tock and i think they're old videos but those videos blow up i've seen a lot of javelin missiles i've seen a lot of you know artillery guys guys guys in military outfits yeah i've seen that [ __ ] too which i love shout out all the military members out there they need to have fun too obviously but uh yeah it's gonna be it's gonna be weird to see what happens but there's a lot of people i promise you there's a lot of people behind the scenes of other tick-tock-centric startups right now that are praying that trump or somebody pulls the trigger and says no more because then triller goes then all these other apps have a is usually when an app like tick tock tick tock steps up facebook just headshot dude with cash boom gone facebook owns it boom facebook owns it and they tried it with snapchat snapchat says no i said no and snapchat continues to [ __ ] stream on and trickle on but but the weird thing is what they said they this one unfortunately they're not going to be able to buy out by their way out because tick tock has so much [ __ ] capital and such a high valuation that that mark can't just say yo we'll give you five billion dollars they're like yo we're worth 180 on the upside valuation we don't give a [ __ ] about your five billion dollars and it'll be fun to see reels but yo in all honesty like i talk a lot of [ __ ] about tick tock but that app is one of the best designed apps i've ever seen in my [ __ ] life it's good technology usability they let you download they let you share properly every single thing on that [ __ ] app has been thought through thoroughly and it is a truly fun app to use and so if instagram is going to take a swing at that floor-to-ceiling content but they've done it before and they won and they did it and they did it and if they have dude can you imagine can you can you tell me if you can see this happening instagram facebook paying charlie emilio 10 to 20 million dollars to exclusively post on reels and not tick tock that's a that makes a lot of [ __ ] noise yeah yeah if they get though if they get a couple monsters but but also we also know we also know about the failure rate as well i mean instagram stuff though because it'll be connected to your instagram which is clearly everyone's like favorite platform yeah indicate growth and and i saw the layout and it's it's pristine if they nail the ui yeah the user interface it it could do some damn it could do some damage all they have to do is take away from you know a small value of tick tock what 10 billion a year that's and that's what they'll just they'll just go to steal some shared voice
