Where Would Jesus Be Found In Your Life?

[Music] thank you man what good songs today thank you for putting all that together for us let's welcome our crowd around the world christmas time but they're still joining in thank you so much luke chapter 2 verse number 43 and when they had fulfilled the days as they returned the child jesus tarried behind in jerusalem and joseph and his mother knew not of it but they supposing him to have been in the company went a day's journey and they sought him among their kinfolk and acquaintance and when they found him not they turned back again to jerusalem seeking him they've lost jesus and it came to pass that after three days they found him in the temple setting in the midst of the doctors both hearing them and asking them questions and all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers because you understand jesus is about 12 years old here verse 48 and when they saw him they were amazed and his mother said unto him son why hast thou thus dealt with us behold thy father and i have sought thee sorrowing we've been upset we couldn't find you and he said unto them how is it that you sought me whiskey not know you not that i must be about my father's business as we're getting into what i guess we call the christmas holidays or this this season it seems like we pay more attention to the life and the young life of jesus as well as his mother mary very few times outside of the christmas season do you hear anybody say much about the mother of jesus so before i get into the setting of what has happened here jesus they went to pay their taxes and they were on their way back home and jesus didn't go with them so they go a day's journey can you imagine going 24 hours not even knowing your kid's not in the car now that's a blessed thought but it don't work that way and so they go a day's journey and all of a sudden mary said you know jesus hadn't asked for anything to eat or drink words jesus and they sought him among the family and his acquaintances and friends and cousins and nobody can find jesus now the bible said they're a day journey away but the bible also said they didn't find jesus until the third day so no doubt they went through the town they went everywhere they could find looking for this jesus maybe in all the department stores walmart everywhere they could possibly go cvs everything looking for jesus and finally somebody said he's probably at church the last place probably they went to look for jesus was church because the bible said they didn't find him to the third day i wondered i'm looking at my teenagers right now look up here me if if your parents were to let go of you for three days where would we find you would you ever be back in church again would you still be serving god would you still be loving preaching if your parents let you go if you're the real deal and you really love god you'll find yourself to the house of god whether your family's around or not doesn't matter so that's the setting of the story but i want to talk today on the subject where will jesus be found in your life where will jesus be found in your life i got to looking and studying about mary the other day and we know very little about her and even less about joseph her husband she was about the average age of the age people married back in the bible days when her and joseph were espoused or engaged to be married she was about 16 years old which was very common in that day though many historians believe that joseph may have been somewhat older than mary when they were engaged to be married one of the reasons why they believe that is because he died so many years before mary did jesus was born in bethlehem at about 6 bc just before the death of herod the great jesus did not have a last name jesus christ is not a name christ is a title christ means the anointed one of god his name is jesus there's something about jesus you can say something about god and people of all walks of life can nod their head and agree but when you say jesus there's something special about that name just like when you read the bible it talks about john the baptist john's last name wasn't baptist it was a title that was given to him because he was baptizing you're aware of the fact that after the birth of jesus mary had at least four more sons james joseph jude that wrote the book of jude in your bible and also simon there are mentions of his sisters in the gospel of mark but their names are never mentioned in the scripture they tell us through history that joseph probably died just prior to jesus beginning his earthly ministry at the age of 30. jesus being 30 i'm implying mary's age was anywhere between 49 and 51 years old the day that jesus hung on the cross and was crucified from that day on she went home and lived with john the beloved and he cared for her until her death they say she died 11 years after jesus was crucified which would make her somewhere between 60 and 62 years old about 41 a.d and history records that she died in jerusalem of what we call natural causes we all know about this little virgin girl that god chose to bring forth the son of god i'm referring to jesus the only messiah the anointed one emmanuel god be with us the prince a princess the king of kings and the lord of lords but when you look into the life of mary and you study her in detail it's as though you see an in-depth realization but not one but rather five stages of her life links her to her son named jesus every one of us that are sitting here today are we could be found in one of these five stages that i'm about to mention all of them include mary of course where are you at with god in your life if somebody was to biologically dissect your spiritual life where would they find god in your life let me mention just a couple that i'll be through number one there was a time when jesus was only a consideration in her life she hadn't yet had jesus on the inside it was in luke chapter number one and verse 29 that the angel came and how would you like it if you woke up one day 16 years old and there's an angel standing at the foot of your bed and you're about to and you're engaged and you're about to be married and the angel says to you by the way you're going to have a kid and nobody's going to touch you she was a simple handmaiden mary wasn't in the palaces mary wasn't a rich girl she was simply a little a little 16 year old handmaid she's engaged she's getting ready to marry the love of her life or what she thought would be brother matthew you you think it's the love of your life to you yeah you're not laughing like you used to matthew and all of a sudden she's got to come up with a solution on how you tell everybody i'm having a baby but i haven't been with anybody how would you like it if your 16 year old daughter can't say hey dad i'm having a baby but nobody's touched me i'm a virgin but i'm pregnant yeah yeah right yeah right so she's got to live with all of this and she's considering jesus but she's contemplating in her mind how does this work the bible says in verse 29 that she cast it in her mind she was thinking about the message the bible said in verse 29 she was troubled that's what happens when god comes to you and you start considering making jesus part of your life he troubles you that means there's an uproar that means you feel tossed that means you tremble from the inside out i tell you when god got a hold of me i wasn't smiling i wasn't chewing gum and i wasn't playing with my fingernails will tell you when god sent a messenger to me with the word of the lord telling me that i needed jesus it tore me up i remember standing in the pew that night considering jesus is that where you're at have you been coming to our church considering making jesus part of your life are you at that point where you've listened to preaching you understand it you feel troubled inside but you're not really sure you want to get involved in this jesus thing and the bible said that she began to ponder what the lord was going to do to her see when you begin to ponder that means subliminally you're questioning god and when the questions begin to come in the faith begins to leave see you don't get saved because you figured god out you get saved because you have faith that god has it all figured out and you're trusting in what he did to pay for your redemption on the cross through the death burial and resurrection so you're not going to put god in a test tube and figure him out that's why the bible said today is the day of salvation now is the accepted time to live in delay and denial the outcome will be a christless eternity and you will open your eyes in hell that's awful to say but the reality is you can set in church to your dying breath and consider receiving jesus all you want but if your consideration is as far as you go you will never go to heaven when you die getting a bible will not let you go to heaven when you die joining this church will not let you go to heaven when you die getting in the baptistry won't let you to go to heaven when you die oh you're considering jesus but you don't have jesus on the inside and until you get him in you you are lost you are condemned and you are alienated from a thrice holy god that's when you consider jesus and some of you have been in the balances for a long time you've come here for service after service you've considered jesus but you've never received him stage number two i want you to look not only to consideration i want you to look at the carrying of jesus all of a sudden here's what she said let the lord do to me whatever he sees fit you know when i got saved i didn't know anything about the bible i'd never wrote a verse of scripture i didn't even know there was different names for different books in the bible i had no earthly idea what the bible said but i think what i did do i came forward and i said i don't understand a lot of this stuff 45 years later i still don't understand a lot of that stuff but i said i know one thing i want him to do to me what i need to get done with me i'm tired of considering jesus i want to carry jesus i want jesus on the inside of me now watch this and the angel said all right you're willing to receive jesus now watch this he said i want you to receive jesus you want to receive jesus but something has to take place first she says what is that he said you cannot receive jesus unless the holy ghost overshadows you and that's the part of redemption that's being left out of a lot of pulpits you just don't get saved when you want to you just don't jump in jesus like a swimming pool i'm going to tell you when you get saved when the holy ghost overshadows you and he troubles you and he bothers you and he makes you aware of the fact that you've not sinned against mama you've not sinned against daddy you've not sinned against the church you've sinned against god you're a sinner against god and the spirit of god must overshadow an individual before they could ever carry jesus and once she said let the lord do to me whatever i need you know the thing about carrying jesus is this once she conceived to jesus how does she know it when women first get in a motherly way and i don't like to talk about all that because it's just out of my ranks but when my wife first told me she was expecting i couldn't tell any difference she called me one day and said i'm having a baby i said what's new you've been pregnant ever since i met you we had four back to back i think they were nine months and two weeks apart stayed pregnant for years but when she would first come to me oh cheer up your day's coming big boy you stroke your beard now you won't be laughing later on but when she first came to me and said i've got a baby in me i don't know whether believe it or not how am i supposed to know i'm not ob gyn back then we didn't have them tests that you could take to tell if you were expecting or not every time i think about that test now brother jamie i think about you he got married he was laying in bed one day and his wife came in and she said look at this he said what's wrong you got a temperature that's what the man said no it was a whole lot more than a temperature honey but see some people are content with the fact that they've considered jesus and then there was a day when they received him now they got jesus on the inside but here's the problem they've stunned spiritual growth in their life and all we have is the fact that you say you receive jesus but looking at you we can't tell a bit of difference see i believe if you really get jesus on the inside i don't believe you come perfect overnight i don't believe you come perfect as long as you're in this flesh but there ought to be a growing process after about three months a woman's clothes ought to be fit and tight after a little while her figure ought to be getting out of shape after a while there's the stretch marks and the morning sickness and all of that stuff go that is proof that you've got somebody living on the inside i know when somebody gets saved they get born again i don't expect to see them sprout wings and fly around the auditorium but if they really got saved and they'll be faithful to this church and let me feed them the milk of the word of god after a while it's going to start showing up that they got something on the inside they may not understand it but i tell you one thing there's something growing on the inside so that's as far as most christians go stage two they've considered jesus and received him they've now got jesus in them the bible says if you have not the spirit of christ you're none of his now there's a difference in having the person of jesus and the power of jesus there's a difference in having jesus on the inside and being filled with the holy ghost that comes later on in life through surrender and dedication but some people say okay i got born again i don't i don't have to go to hell when i die and that's as far as your christianity ever goes and it's sad that you are comfortable carrying something that's so precious that could be such a blessing to other people you remember when ruth had a baby she named it obed and it means worship and as soon as ruth had the baby the bible said naomi picked it up and said i know it's yours but i want some of this and she started carrying worship around because ruth allowed it to be manifested in her life you know why if we would just let jesus be manifested through us maybe people would start wanting what we've got but as long as you've gotten cooped up and you've stunted his growth and you don't want to get out of shape with the world and you want to keep dressing and acting like the world you still want to go to parties where they drink you still want to lay around you you're not really out but you're not really in you're kind of straddling the fence and by the way you'll hit a post after a while when you straddle the fence oh yeah you know i'm preaching it right oh yeah you'll be in church on sunday but she was on the dance floor saturday night you're at the liquor store saturday night at the crack house saturday night you got the whorehouse saturday night but you gonna tell you got jesus on sunday right how do i know you got jesus you sure aren't acting like it i'm gonna tell you listen to this if i was a little girl and i woke up and i knew i had jesus in me i'd be awful careful if i got around somebody and they said a dirty word i'd say hey i got jesus in me don't talk like that it grieves jesus hey we're all going out to drink on friday night man we want you to come we got our chariots and we're going to circle jerusalem with our four hoof drive jackasses and our tilt bridles and our radial tires on our on our chariots we're going to have them mary said i can't do that i got jesus in me why don't you slip out of the window at night why don't you go up here and fornicate on the hill with the rest of them everybody else is doing it everybody else may be doing but that don't make it right you see i got i got jesus in me and i'm gonna tell you why some people can live like hell waller in the hog pen live like a dog and love every minute of it the truth of the matter is you may have considered jesus but you have never conceived jesus because when you get jesus in you you will never be comfortable in that kind of lifestyle again so are you carrying jesus today number three i want to talk about the confession of jesus now watch this in in luke chapter number two the bible said and when her days were fulfilled the bible used the word accomplished she gave birth in a barn with a baby no midwife no family there just joseph there's a goat over here there's a lamb over here there's a donkey over here and she's laying in straw giving birth to the son of god now all the time mary carried jesus on the inside it went out through town mary is carrying jesus guess how many people was interested in mary carrying jesus before he was born nobody nobody ever wanted to come and see mary just because she had she said she had jesus on the inside but when she let jesus be manifest through her when now they didn't concentrate on mary but they were concentrating on jesus see when jesus is manifested in your life you get in the shadows and he's the one that gets all the attention so so all of a sudden this mary that's carried jesus for nine months gets no attention at all because she's just carrying him but when she had a confession she said look i'm gonna tell you what's inside of me i'm gonna tell you what makes me happy i'm gonna tell you how i love god and jesus comes out all of a sudden the angels came from heaven and said that's him the shepherds left their fields and come up on the hill and went into the barn and said that's him two years later three kings left their thrones for at least three and a half years just to walk in that in where mary lived and said that's him you know when people wanted to see jesus when mary was allowing him to be manifested through her you know when your mom and dad want what you've got you know when your kids are what wants you god when you quit telling them you got jesus and they start seeing jesus through you they got to see jesus through you she said i got a confession to make i've had this sealed up for so long i can't take it anymore you know uh when a woman starts getting ready to do all that stuff my wife would say things like put your hand on my stomach i didn't like that maybe you did if that turned you on fine i just didn't like nothing about it belly button turned inside out of course i knew what to do we put a piece of duct tape over that took care of that and she said can you feel him the baby bumping around you went through that brother danny not long ago and to be honest i didn't want to feel it bumping around i kept thinking it ain't mine it's yours let it bump around on you i'll bump around on enough once it gets here and she'd feel it bumping around well the reason why i was bumping around is it was the baby saying look i'm going to get so big in you that you're going to have to let go of me and let me be manifest you know when i first got saved i started going to church i didn't know anything about shouting or loving god or reading the bible i didn't know what a prayer meeting was but the longer i stayed in church i'd feel something bumping in me i knew i had god bumping around in me and i didn't know what it was but the more i read the bible at home on my prom not always dated uh the captain of the cheerleading team and i'm prom night i got saved in november and i'm prom night i canceled and i wouldn't go because you know what to do on prom nights and i stayed at home and i sat in my bedroom by myself and i read my bible on prom night because i don't want to do that stuff anymore and i got up the next day and i felt something bumping around in me and i went to church that sunday and i found something bumping around in me and i went to the altar to pray and all of a sudden the holy ghost said look you've kept me and carried me long enough it's about time you let people know what's going on inside and the next thing i knew i was on my feet with my hands up in the air and tears running down my face and i let jesus be manifested in my life okay so every once in a while the holy ghost will get so big in front of you you'll have to let him out that's the confession that mary had said to say that this could happen but it did happen my text shows me the carelessness mary had with jesus can you imagine raising a kid 12 years and leaving him i mean leaving him i was at a cat meeting one time this preacher had 11 kids they were sitting in front of us i'm telling you this like staircase 11 kids living well they all crowded in the van and by the time him and his wife got in the whole van was packed so they left and one of the kids was asleep on the pew and they're from out of state and one of the men said you better call that preacher and tell him he left a kid i said i'll tell you something if i had 11 i left him there on purpose if you call he probably won't answer you imagine losing count of your kid for three days not knowing where they're at what's going on you know if they've been taken care of or being heist have you come to the point where you can journey without jesus controlling the direction of your life oh the danger of making life changes in our life without first attending the favor and the approval of god today while i'm preaching is your life empty and void is it wasted due to bad decisions and taking bad advice that's led you in a direction where you can't find god i'd hate to know that i'd get up tomorrow morning and i couldn't find god in my life because i let family or finances or something stupid get me on a journey where god wasn't with me well the greatest thing you'll ever know as a christian is no matter what you're going through whether be a valley low or a mountain high is to see the footprints of the nazarene and knowing that god is there with you brother that's what'll get you through it but could you imagine can you imagine as a christian being on a journey without god some of you the reason why your life feels wasted the reason why you feel empty the reason why you can't get answers the reason why you can't get on your feet you have taken a direction that god was not in and the only way you're going to get god back in your life you got to go back to where you left him they had to go back to the temple am i preaching now i had to go back to the temple where they left him when naomi got right she had to go to bethlehem where she left it when the prodigal son got right he had to go back to the father's house where he left him bless god some of you need to do a u-turn and find out where you left god and start all over again and get god back in your life that's the carelessness of jesus she was careless with him and here's the one i want to give you i want to close i want you to notice the closeness of mary to jesus so jesus is on the cross now and he's dying he's naked every bone is pulled out of socket his back is gone the flesh is rolled back like a squirrel his integrals are dang dangling down behind him his kidneys his intestines his liver and his spleen are hanging down out of his back his eyes are dangling out of his head every joint in his body i think it's 113 the bible said was pulled out of joint and jesus needs somebody to be close to him so jesus turns around and says where's the angels angels the ones that minister to me in the garden of gethsemane where are you at david they're gone my disciples what about all those followers that i was teaching where's my disciples i'm sorry jesus they're gone what about my apostles those handpicked twelve men that have followed me for three and a half years where's my disciples give me my this was my disciples they're gone okay where's my father where's god my god my god why has that forsaken me and when the disciples were gone and when the angels were gone and when the apostles were gone and when god was gone he looked down at the bottom of a cross and there on her knees with tears running down her cheeks was a little girl named mary and she said i'll tell you something i got out of his direction one time i went in a direction without him one time i'll never leave your side again oh thank god he's a god of a second chance maybe you've left him behind i've got good news you can turn around and get god back in your life and get close to him all over again let's give him a praise in his house [Applause] [Music] today and these are the days of your servant oh says righteousness being restored and all these are days of great trials [Music] of the lord
