(At level 4) Winter Eladrin Elf rogue (assassin) with the Alert feat, expertise in stealth and an 18 in dex. So stealth should be around +9, I am able to get within 30 feet of the enemy most of the time. Then misty step within 5 feet, that triggers the Winter Eladrin Elf’s trait when you misty step they have to save against being frightened. Then because of the surprised you are able to auto crit and with dual wielding and sneak attack that’s a lot of damage. Then if they aren’t dead from that you go into combat, +4 initiative and with the Alert feat an extra +5 so +9. A great chance of rolling higher initiative than the enemy so higher chance to get advantage against them with the assassin’s second trait (advantage on enemies that haven’t taken a turn in combat yet). P.S. My friend/DM hates it whenever I mention Leolar now

From a homebrew Pathfinder campaign I took part in: an ability called "Thunderous Charge." Travel up to twice your move instantly. Anyone on the path you take is pushed back 10 feet, no save. They must make a reflex save to not get knocked down. At the end of the charge, you can attack once. This pairs well with "Extended Strike," making a melee attack hit AOE.

I have a lot.

My half elemental paladin could as a channel divinity make it rain for 1d4+1 hours and had lightning magic and smites he also had 24 strength and a magic greatsword that did +2d8 lightning damage and could use charges to cast thunder wave (his favorite spell) and lightning bolt (the only lightning spell he can’t learn) and with a +12 to hit he only misses on a nat 1 +7 strength adds up to 19 and even then he can reroll via great weapon fighting style. He had soloed a boss when the rest of the party 3 at the time was hiding from arrows under a table

My brothers half elemental (brother to paladin as well) ranger had an oathbow that when he activated it against one enemy he had advantage on all attack rolls the damage against that enemy from him dealt an additional 3d6 damage and the enemy could not gain benefit from cover, that combined with the +13 total to hit and his homebrew archetype that allowed him to spread the exact damage he dealt to one enemy to multiple targets and his modified arrows that could go through walls he was a absolute unit on the battlefield

My Human Warpriest with 23 AC somehow has the shield master feat so any spell thrown at him that requires a dex save instantly results in him taking no damage at all DM almost gave him a shield of missile catching which would’ve made him a walking anti magic field, he also has a sword that when hitting a melee attack can stop the enemy in time in such a way that melee hit will automatically crit rather than end the spell this uses one of two charges but when all the charges are used I have to roll a d20 on a 1 the weapon shatters, there is no way to stop it by using bardic inspiration or other means

I also put Sakuya from Touhou in the party because she’s cool and I wanted to see if I could design and balance a damage based many knife throwing fighter that could stop time and it worked, time stops would work almost identically to action surges and the higher level the time stop the more actions you get at level 20 she could throw over 20 knives in one turn

My Arch Yokai (Homebrew Race) Solar bloodline Sorcerer as a bloodline arcana got a +1 for every damage die rolled in a spell with a fire descriptor combined with empower spell and an extra buff to the number you rolled in damage die by half so basically you take half the number you rolled in damage per die take half of the roll and add that to your damage made sure that her fireball dealt as much damage as possible

My half dragon rouge was allowed to wield two greatswords as a stance that gave him exhaustion if he used it too long but in that minute he could deal over 40 damage in an attack at level 8 and with the skulker feat and an magic item that lightly obscured him, he could sneak in broad daylight

My human like golem monk could deal a guaranteed 30 damage per turn because of having 22 strength

A Human monk had a beyblade that he had since childhood could be used as a ranged weapon via daggers attached to the side it’s not really OP just funny

And finally my Illiad (race from another dimension)(homebrew) accidentally got infinite money in his home dimension (only in that dimensions currency it’s useless everywhere else)

Sadly the campaign fissiled out after our DM left due to personal reasons despite my best efforts to keep the campaign’s flame burning. We still hang out every Sunday though so it’s alright

I've got a level 5 Gloom Stalker Ranger with a favorite opening attack. I have the Piercer feat, so a crit with an arrow gets an extra d8 and I can reroll one of my dice that does piercing damage. I've also got bracers of archery and a bowstring that enchants my arrows with 1d6 radiant damage. The main trait for Gloom Stalker is the Dread Ambusher, a third weapon attack on the first round with an added d8 of damage, but I pair it with Zephyr Strike to get advantage an another 1d8 force damage. A crit on that strike is 7d8 + 2d6 + 6 damage, and that's after the first two attacks. It gets more disgusting. I'm planning to take three levels in Champion Fighter, doubling my crit chances and gaining two more attacks on an action surge, making it 5 attacks on turn 1 with lots of stacked bonuses. Oh, and this also gives me 70 feet of movement on turn 1 on top of everything else. It burns a lot of tricks on a single turn, but there's not a lot that's going to survive the onslaught.

Behold, the Unholy Requiem. I play as the Oathbreaker paladin, Artas Verdia. He specializes in the use, of heavy two handed weapons. After the party defeated a Bone Naga, we found a stash of loot. Amongst all the goods, was a single homebrew item, The Singing Halberd. This weapon was a +1 halberd that has 5 charges, you can expend a number of charges, to add 1d6 for every charge spent lightning damage to an attack (after you've already hit.) regenerating all spent charges at dawn. This also does crit damage. As I'm the only party member that uses two handed weapons, it ended up with me. The DM soon realized his mistake. Now on a hit, I can do 1d10 + 5d6 (the halberd) + 5d8 (smites) + 16 damage. And crits don't deal double dice, they instead deal your normal damage + max damage. So 1d10 + 5d6 + 5d8 + 96 damage. I have named this attack the "Unholy Requiem" and there are still ways I can make it stronger.

Level 14 or so tempest cleric, sea elf. It’s a pirate campaign. Most of our enemies were water monsters, things like Sahuagin.

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten as many kills as I have with Call Lightning before.

what's up everybody how's everyone doing today my name is brian von va and i'm back at it again with another set of d d stories this time we've got players and dms of mr ripper subreddit which links are in the description if you want to join what is the scariest ability your character has home brew accepted part one d d 3.5 because i love the system and refused to play anything else some of my friends are like me very experienced with the system so we challenged ourselves to create some crazy builds for this campaign dm said she would prepare our encounters accordingly buddy of mine made a cleric loremaster something seer i think combo that blew my mind basically this build was completely useless in any encounter at level 10 it had zero bab and around 40 hit points good thing me and other friend decided to go battle ready so we would always protect him the point of the character was knowledge at level 10 he had some crazy like plus 25 to 30 bonus to any knowledge check to those not in the know players handbook suggest dc30 for a hard check basically if there was anything to know about anything he knew not only that but then some oh the big bad evil guys hideout it's right in the mountains turn left at the creek pass a gray rock and tap your shoe three times also today he wears white underpants completely derailed the campaign in a good way my dwarfs passive intimidation he straight out murdered a troll in a single turn so brutally that the abandoned leader that we originally engaged was like well i don't know how to stop you so please save your friends that lie right in front of me almost dying well i will run away i killed two or three trolls this day my sorcerer got a homebrew feat i made called primeval flame as a boon from an ancient dragon it allowed him to ignore fire resistance treat immunity to for as resistance and deal additional damage equal to a number of d6 equal to half your proficiency bonus when you cast a spell that deals fire damage so an extra 3d6 at max proficiency as a result scorching ray shot up to 3 bolts that each did 5d6 at base level something we initially hadn't realized but the campaign was close to over at that point and the dm opt-in to let us have our fun with it so ninth level scorching ray became the most powerful spell in my arsenal thanks to some other abilities a plus 14 modifier to hit thanks to a charisma stat of 22 and robe of the ark magi the ability to reroll ones on the fire damage dice from flames of falphagos primeval flame doing the afermented of buffing the number of damage dice up to 5d6 rather than 2d6 boone of the high caster granting me two 9th level slots and quickened spell meaning i could unleash this twice in a round resulting in 100d6 of damage to either a single target or to be spread around gate of babylon achieved now the side effect of my character isn't exactly op but it can be freaky when it works i have a known barbarian who has fallen into the wild soul subclass it was ua at the time and my dm didn't like the idea of getting one of eight magical effects whenever my character raged so they made some edits inspired by the wild magic sorcery subclass when she was raging and attacking some poor soul i'd roll a d20 if i roll in at one her attack is cancelled and she gets a random magical effect based off of a table that holds several hundred effects to roll if the dm ends up with an effect that affects spell slots i just reroll so far the wild magic has popped up three times and nya has experienced the following in the middle of fighting some ice creature on a quest my character summons some devil demon creature that she has to roll a charisma save for in order to get them on your side i was scared because she isn't exactly a charismatic person with a negative one modifier so i prepared for the worst she succeeded and had a demon fight for her turning the tide of the battle in a duel with fellow pcs i was trying to jump the local rogue of the group before being interrupted mid-swing only to find out that my character couldn't speak and when she tried to she coughed up glitter in a separate pc duel not the same one the rogue was downed while i was facing off against our cleric with our bard off to help the sides holding our little lantern wyvern hatchling mascot and we'd literally die for her turns out i accidentally poisoned her as she was just within the 60-foot radius of the effect and the coin flip landed on our baby instead of the cleric the hatchling was fine but now the event appears to be a subplot that is forming for my character to figure out why the hell a barbarian is capable of random bursts of magic we have fun here my character at level one's main attack was one d6 plus five with a plus five to hit in a case of 30 in-game minutes i killed one half-work barbarian one human rogue and seven kobolds single-handedly the scary part of the ability isn't its damage but what it does the ability is called disrupt pattern my character sees the patterns that bind everything together and kills you by completely unraveling your pattern ps cobalts killed this way apparently smell like freshly baked bread yummy i took the eldritch initiate feat and am an illusionist wizard i took the one that lets you cast a leveled illusion at will misty visions i believe and am waiting till i hit level 14 so i can become green lantern so my paladin has an ability where i can self-destruct and do roughly 100 to 150 damage in a 120 foot radius if i drop to zero hp the only catch is i cease to exist i also have a spell i plan to combo with that and that is to trap myself and one enemy and a 30-foot unbreakable dome until about 30 seconds after one of us dies so if i do die i can turn that dome into the surface of the sun the dm has rules that any aoe damage inside of something has this damage multiplied me the area reduction if it sounds op our enemies are just as dangerous not a character but a monster and it has three abilities one ethereal walk as a bonus action it can shift from the material plane to the ethereal plane two soul siphon when it hits with an attack the creature's maximum hit points go down by the necronic damage 2d 10 plus 10 or just 22 nothing less than a wish spell can remove this and if the creature is killed by this ability nothing even wish or divine intervention can bring them back and 3. grim harvest when it kills something it regains hit points equal to the killed creature's maximum hit points ignoring the previous hits with the soul siphon ability it has about 325 hit points on average or 25 d10 plus 150 and an ac of 22. had a player whose character was obsessed with singing she was playing a knight and in 3.5 the knights class had abilities similar to the bardic abilities so using the logic of those knight abilities i built her a song book based on the songs the knight always sang mother's lullaby uses a charge of the knights challenge creatures within 30 foot radius who can hear the knight instantly fall asleep for a number of turns equal to the night's charisma modifier individuals can be awoken before the time is up being shaken damaged or jostled or if the knight stops singing i gave her this ability because she as a player complained about how there wasn't enough ways to peacefully end the combat fathers battle him he uses a charge of the knight's challenge all allies within a 30-foot radius of the night is blessed with one of three blessings immunity to poison immunity to disease or healed 1d4 per charisma mod of the night the blessings last for one plus charisma mod number rounds or until the knight is unconscious i gave her this ability because the character had gone through a character arc related to her paladin father the first i always felt was really op because even though it was designed for peace it could also be used to just cudigra all those affected and was even used to do so by the night no less unfortunately the player never used the abilities more than once so as powerful as they were they were more like a diffused bomb more than anything dangerous in and of itself but currently useless disintegrate at will it's a counter that my character was given by the dm after having completed the trials of tallows i can cast the spell disintegrate at will once per long rest completely abused this got the wizard to put disadvantage on the target saves and voila puddles of boiled meat in my son's campaign he has this entire home bruce system based around soul magic one of his npcs invented this entire magic school that revolves around manipulating the souls of others and the interweave between souls at one point in the campaign one of the enemies who knew soul magic used it to kill at my character and imprisoned her soul inside of an egg when the party killed him my character was freed but from then on she had access to her soul chain soul chains link everyone's soul to the world and normally you can't see them unless your soul chain is revealed to you or you're able to use soul magic when my character died her soul chain was broken and because of the way she died it cannot be reattached so she has like four chain links sticking out of her that only she can see or interact with however because of the way soul magic works having access to the broken end of the chain actually gives her some crazy abilities in essence twice a day she can touch the chain to do something and for 12 seconds she takes on the properties of whatever she touched the first time she tried this out after being told about it by the npc who created the magic she touched her chain to a wooden post and her body became wooden for 12 seconds she could still move and everything but while in this form her ac goes up by four she feels no pain and takes no damage from attacks if she does this with metal she basically becomes metal mario during one combat she did this with lava and turned into a lava monster however if she does it with water it works differently water is my character's serenity it's where she is the most comfortable and feels the happiest she is a civilian sea captain turned pirate captain whose sole purpose in life is now to avenge her husband's death so when she does this with water the ability lasts twice as long she can swim at four times her normal speed and she has resistance to all damage she can also morph her body into any shape she wants in this form there are other forms she can take but she hasn't figured them out yet not a player but a dm with homebrew bosses two endgame bosses i have in the works use some insane abilities for starters the second to the last boss they fight is a cowboy with a shotgun and card magic think wild magic but with a deck of spells effects etc the basic concept of his card magic is he draws a hand picks what he wants to use plays the card and effectively removes them from the deck before drawing again the next turn another ability that he may get is a legendary lair action called poker time combat stops and you play a round of poker with the player who gets the highest net games receiving a boost of some sort healing damage speed etc my other boss uses a giant possessed slot machine as a part of his ability as a legendary layer action he can sacrifice some of his hp to spin the slot machine for a buff or a debuff for the pcs these are some of my craziest ability concepts in my current campaign and if a single one of my players finds this comment i will find out the dm always knows i was one member in a group of nine yes nine players and i was one of three bards in the group the three of us bards were able to convince the dm to let us have a co-action called ultimate show stating that if all three of us got a nat 21 rolling for performance or when trying to seduce we would be able to perform irl and we could gain 5d 100 gp each on the day we were fighting the final boss when it gets to my turn us three bards look at each other and smirk then i tell the dm we use our ultimate show skill he sighs and tells us to roll all three of us bards got a freaking nat 20. i pulled out my guitar and the other two pulled out their trumpet and maracas and everyone knew what was coming and i kind of do too to make a long story short we gave the greatest irl performance ever and were able to seduce an ancient red dragon to the point of eternal slumber all while gaining 835 gold pieces out of it we were the greatest mariachi band they ever heard i highly encourage all groups with more than one bard to use this skill in their games it's a heck of a fun time for everyone involved especially if you have a bard who actually loves to perform in real life hope you all enjoy this story and believe me this narrator freaking loved it brian von va here how are y'all doing i hope you enjoyed today's video and if you did leave a like and if you're new slap that subscribe button ring that bell to be
