just about to go through videos on the trending tab because there's a lot here. First of all, I'm
sure you've noticed there's a few things I ... Oh. Oh, that's my manager. There's probably something
I forgot to do that I should have done. But instead of looking at that, I'm just muting this.
Anyway, there were a few things are different with this video. I'm sure you noticed. First of
all, I didn't do my normal intro. Secondly, this video is longer than 10 minutes. Just so you
know, this has been a very long running gag on my channel since 2018. Holy crap. Going on three
years, two and a half years, I think. I've made almost every single video on this channel
exactly 10 minutes, one second. And the joke was a video had to be 10 minutes in order
for it to get an ad break in the middle of it. But they changed that. Now you only need eight
minutes to get an ad break in the middle. Therefore, my entire two and a half year running
joke just now looks stupid. Susan Wojcicki, you didn't have to do me like that. So yeah,
that's part of the reason I'm retiring the 10 minute joke. Another reason is I have more to
say, and I think some of y'all have realized that, right? A lot of my videos have just been feeling
really short. You click into the video and then I'm like, "Hey, it's me, D'Angelo."
And then I'm like, "Here's an ad read." Wait a minute. Actually, here is an ad read.

That being said, I'm sure you noticed there's no one in my Twitch chat right now. This is
one of the few times I'm recording a video, not on stream. I was busy. It was under
construction. What I've been saying is follow me on Twitch and catch tomorrow's
stream. It's just going to be a very interesting experience. Let's go ahead and
take a look at YouTube's trending page. I feel like there's always been a disconnect between
what actually gets put as the face of YouTube and what people actually enjoy watching.
Well, I don't feel like that. There just kind of is. You can tell by the views on the
trending page. They're not always that good. That being said, I still don't look at it
anymore. At this point, I couldn't even really tell you what's on there. So I thought
it would be funny or interesting or quirky to take a look at what we're actually dealing
with here. How many videos are on here by the way? Absolutely not. No. I guess I will just look at
the first few so we can get the vibe. So the first one we have is jumping from 128,000 feet by Beast
Reacts. Is this another Mr. Beast channel? Let me guess this one has 5 million subscribers? Okay,
wait. So this man has one, two, three, four, five, six channels on YouTube, all of which have almost
3 million subscribers. Y'all better look out for D'Angelo Wallace Gaming coming soon. I'm going to

Like, this is actually my nightmare. This is color grading that only works on white people
and/or people with virtually no melanin. In an attempt to make my videos
more quote, unquote aesthetic, I've tried this in the past and I had to do severe
color correction on top of the color correction just so that I did not look like an Oompa
Loompa. That's the real white privilege. Y'all look good under default light room presets.
This is impossible behind-the-scenes shorts. Sound effects are terrible.

trending page. Michael Reeves is fantastic. Minecraft, but you can mine mobs. So way back in
the mine, trying to get zero points in GeoGuessr. Some of you guys on TikTok are saying I only
post the GeoGuessr dubs. Today, I'm going to try to fail as bad as possible. Off the bat-
Wait, so this is just literally a TikTok? This man just posted a TikTok to YouTube. Explicitly
outlined in the first five seconds that it's a TikTok, and then still wound up on trending
because of how the YouTube Shorts algorithm works. Actually, speaking of that, the YouTube Shorts
algorithm is scuffed. YouTube channels at this point are literally just taking random keywords,
"CJ so cool test pant and squad beam squat the royalty family the restaurant." They were
just taking random keywords to get views, smashing them together on top of TikToks that
they download from other people's channel. 13 million views. Dr. Phil asked me if I can draw
him for 50 days, so I finally gave in. Oh my gosh, we have another TikTok. Another TikTok. We have
a music video, an SNL skit, The Royal Family Channel. Oh, my gosh. Is this another family vlog?
Who are these people? The Royal Family Channel. I've never heard of this YouTube couple. Oh, my
gosh. Their thumbnails are awful. Where are the pranks? This has to be the most boring family
channel I've ever seen in my entire life, bro. Like, are you even a couple if you don't do
"I died in the living room" prank on wife? We have another TikTok. At first, TikTok-ers
were taking over YouTube, right? But now, literal TikToks are taking over YouTube.
Friday Night Funkin'. I am trash at this game and therefore, it's bad. That being said, the
soundtrack for Friday Night Funkin' is so good. Big fan of hyper pop.
So we have more sports, more SNL, another TikTok. Wait a minute. This is
literally the same dude from the other TikTok. All right. You know what? I respect the
hustle. More SNL. Wait. He's on the trending page again? This guy has three different videos
from the same channel on trending right now. How does that ... Oh, that would explain it. Holy
crap, he just keeps uploading and uploading and up ... He has uploaded one, two, three,
four, five, six, seven videos in the last day. I could refresh this page right now and there
might be another video. Okay. There wasn't, but that would have been a really funny bit.
Okay. So we have another music video, more Minecraft, the BBC, talking to Jesus elevation merch ... Oh,
this is just a music video. More Minecraft, The Try Guys, and Dream Shorts, which
from my understanding is both Minecraft and the YouTube Short at the same time.
So basically, let me do a little analysis. I'm going to analyze what kind of video
each spot on the trending tab is taking up. And then we'll see what YouTube thinks
we want to watch. Make bar graph online. I love visualizing data because I'm not smart
enough to understand data without visualization. Okay. Bet. I just realized, instead of making
this a bar graph, it should be a pie chart. Oh, my gosh. I have to start over.
I did it. Holy crap. I created something that makes sense. No one can say that you wasted
your time watching this video. This is actually something you can show your friends if they care.
If they don't, ditch them. As you can see from this chart, normal YouTube videos are like a fifth
of the entire trending page. Look, even if we redo this data, I will remove fake drama vlogs. I'm
also going to get rid of Minecraft streamers. That sounded so dark. I'm also going to
remove Minecraft streamer as a category on this chart. Even if we include the proliferation
of Minecraft content and fake drama vlogs as just normal YouTube content, we still do not
take up even half of the trending page. YouTube, TikToks, and TV since 2021, and also
a few music videos, and maybe YouTubers no one asked. That's their new slogan. Susan, you
don't have to pay me for that one either. See how much free content I give away?
Dixie got a new voiceover. Susan Wojcicki is getting free market research. I really
am the gift that keeps on giving. Shade. So in conclusion, I'm going to start uploading
YouTube Shorts. I am now a Minecraft gamer and also look out for my upcoming late night
television show where there are no guests. It's just me. Why did I hit my microphone?
