TRADITIONAL THAI RICE FEAST in Chiang Mai Thailand!

it's about three o'clock in the morning we leave the hotel I think for 45 or 5:30 or something like that I can't sleep anymore I heard there's some breakfast downstairs at 3 o'clock so see what they have it's probably left over last night though well yeah full spread 3 o'clock in the morning what reason 251 why I love Thailand eat whenever you want whatever you want not a lot of selection is just a ton of food spread the cook stuff is just very like this is this this is it still I mean expects 3 o'clock in the morning he's one of those rare cases in life or I'm gonna rely on fruit snap loose in this country is amazing it's about 5:00 in the morning on our way to Chama pretty excited never been touched on my before today we're doing like rice spa I don't know what that is why sounds cool welcome to Chun I stuck in a plane for about 50 minutes now moving this goods Ashley I stretch out a little bit my first taste of a rice product here in Chiang Mai this is organic young rice milk it's got a kind of a funky aftertaste to it maybe just feel this it's not mature enough we are here thank you thank you thank you beautiful beautiful there's little flowers what kind of flower jasmine right I love Jasmine's my favorite flowers my favorites e is my favorite flower oh thank you so much this is so good it spawned a drink right oh we're changing outfits extra large I'm gonna change into this traditional outfit here what you think yeah like this I should wear this on a daily basis let's go ride a bike it's important to check the bells so I'm at a traditional rice village here in Chiang Mai it's called a bun pet and this is a traditional outfit worn by rice farmers in northern Thailand we're going to the village now we're actually going to de village so this is like the starting area this is the coolest experience I can't think of a better way to experience traditional Thai culture than this and they have set up here just a little market with bunch of fun little foods no I'm going into the rice field [Music] [Applause] [Music] that is squishy whoa-oh she almost faceplant this is not a good place to fall like LT by mu we're being taught how to plant the rice right now so these are the plants there we go pick these up so I take this 20 into the soil oh it's gooey soil that's my rice right there I'm gonna come back and in the harvest season I'm gonna eat that just upon my rice I know buddy step on my rice I don't know what I enjoy more touching the gooey soya or stepping on it I wonder if I stay in this soil lineup I'll turn into a plank [Music] and the soil is it's very special soil for growing rice it'd be kind of fun to actually lay down in this cuz I bet that feels really good there's water buffaloes over there [Music] I'm gonna try it beating the rice so how long do I do this for before the rice balls out old Emperor rice I salute you [Applause] [Music] when they're doing right now is the husking the rice so they're beating the rice and then when he tosses her eyes in the air the husk is kind of float away in the wind after this you actually get rice best ends up on your plate and they have to do this many times to make the rice really white and people don't like eating the brown rice before because I also rise only served to prisoners random rice factor for you so after the second process where we flush the rice out now this is d husking the rice is so much better I'm gonna get that off the ground I swear just like the Chinese sing Luigi's Cinque it means every grain of rice did not come from yeast so yeah don't waste your rice okay there's tons of basically rice dishes all around for lunch and I'm gonna start on this end she's steaming the rice right now [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you thank you never roasted a rice cracker before I barbeque a lot of stuff in my day never a rice cracker before I feel like I'm the one being barbecued right now a little salty we don't chose extremely crispy right no no you go right back up made by yours truly this might be the best cracker ever tell Logan juice that's awesome there's a soft core so this is my rice feast that uh I can't say I labored but it's kind of cool to see where everything's sort of came from thee from the start to finish you know I can never understand why girls pay like thousands of dollars for a purse but if it was filled with food I might be okay with that if you love rise as much as I do this this is paradise hurry rice noodles drumstick that kick thing is off real well why should you me Puri a couple different types of noodles to push me noodles soaked in all that great curry already I'm so deceptively spicy because it's very creamy and milky and and then you don't feel the heat on toeing gets yet like right here Todd's made its way down your throat sticky rice noodles almost better version of pad thai Wow the rice is so chewy is soft and everything about this dish shucks whatever this is like a wonderful transformation of rice rice knows one of my favorite things in the world noodles with little bits of Fort peanuts little on the sweeter side yeah hmm lunch blazing Terrell these dishes this is a rice hang a rice cake / egg dish I'm tipping doesn't my curry just Sam I think that's a good move this is just stuff for rice paper this is a really dense wood I don't know there's toasty on the outside a little salt a mix between a mochi and I and crispy rice cake it's got that nice fresh rice flavor hello buddies go crunchy alright dip this in the curry as well marine rice lollipop dodging some mochi color rice clothes couple different spices and ingredients like Han dime butterfly people hour which is like was such a popular ingredient here in Thailand this is also a very dense rice ball very ill matter to taste different flavors but this I feel like I also need God I'm so glad I have this curry to dip things anything that makes it a lot better finally this dessert is made from the multicolored rice as well with a lot of Logan oh man I love you coconut milk I mean got the nice multi aromatic rice mixed in with a simply delicious fragrant coconut milk in the Logan it doesn't get much better than that best way to experience culture we're still gonna bite out of everything and today I've definitely done that and more this is what I love go into a culture I'm not entirely familiar way and get to experience something firsthand so intimately maybe there's nothing more it's really eating is he doesn't look that happy does he are the water buffalos supposed to push me here or something I don't I'm not really sure what's meant to happen but all I know is if you lean back you'll be sleeping with a water buffalo leaving the rice fields it's pretty sad now go into a spa a rice spa its the Oasis spa because well you're entirely a you gotta get a Thai massage so check this out they're gonna cover us with mango and then we're gonna also be covered with oil after that I did this once last time I was in Thailand I remember it hurting first thing you get towel iced tea mmm pun done after a long day in the rice fields it feels pretty good the last time I got a Thai massage I got a gentle and soft because I'm a voice when it comes to massages you know I don't want to be found and get a standard but they did teach me if it does hurt too much say the words ball ball and they'll gentle it down mm-hmm that's a private room so this is everything as here this is your underwear some of your shower stuff and this is where you put wallets and things your phone my shoulders hurt I mean it's good but I'm a wuss when it comes to massage at our hotel and Chum I just got my room key check it out my birthday so basically an apartment oh my God he's huge living room oh oh yes oh snackaroo whoa this is awesome I'll come to charming this is so cool I don't even know what this is but I love it already Wow king-size bed perfect Jamis bathroom never seen him full like a floor rug before well kane' today was a such an incredible there everything about today from the rice fields to that to the food to the massage which oh I still feel it and it's not over I'm gonna go take a shower and let's go grab dinner [Music] we're a very traditional northern Thai restaurant and we're gonna have something called kendo which is gonna be a big pile of food sitting in front of us at night this could be really spooky it's a saying touch my head change clothes oh sure yeah looks like kung-fu masters oh I love how in Thailand you just smell jasmine all over the place this outfit is called Thai Lana because the northern part of Thailand used to be part of the Lanna Kingdom and this is this house is actually built in the traditional Lanna Kingdom style high almonds that's really good I was like almond flavor times 20 great these looks so realistic though right I love I could be here at night there's a little coconut milk pancakes and I had these their little dessert items you sprinkle a little salt on them I love these toasty crispy on the bottom chopped on top slightly sweet Oh just nice coconut play around sweet rice coconut balls god this makes me happy [Music] this is fermented rice noodle with work there's pork blood literally looks like a tall thin little market and everything is cooked fresh God it's such an amazing experience and the pork noodle you see the blood tomatoes and slices of pork broth looks like a bunch of chilies in there I bet you're gonna be a little sour spicy man is good just tons of dried chilies here Wow yeah this will clear up any sinus problem you have for rest your life all that nice porky flavor blood is something you gotta get used to it never happened before there's majestic right here yeah this is some young rice dessert with pandan brown sugar this is all about the fragrant rice flavor right here I don't know what this is but I need one check it out sticky rice inside don't bite into this like I did like a Neanderthal sticky rice I think there's some treat you treating her as well Oh papaya salad oh sweet this is my first papaya salad in Thailand that Ben here is a very traditional flavor of papaya salad just a ton of heat sweet sour spicy I'm getting some time your dog looks like some curry chicken it's going inside coconut milk dried noodles going in there as well ah thank you what's really upsetting me is that can't pace myself around food I have a weakness it's my kryptonite Christmas you know if there's need some papaya salad to go with it all this all over the noodles this is the greatest Jam in food history spicy peanuts and they have lime leaves in here [Music] [Music] this is different than a lot of sticky rice I've had it's not a very wet sticky rice and that's why I like I like my movies machine I don't like my rice mushy jasmine rice brown rice what they call rice berry the black rice is the more texture jasmine salt always my favorite so friggin much good still jasmine [Music] thank you thank you get the flower you gotta go dance [Music] what a fun evening I gotta change out of this and let's go walk around town all right I feel like I may have been a little over ambitious when I said well I wanted to go out and walk around I'm not doing that I'm gonna hit the gym they're gonna go to bed tomorrow elephant's day is gonna so awesome have a good night
